Well done, always a buzz to drop into the next stone bracket!

Morning!
Maintenance:
Just been reading this thread re maintenance and my plan is to go with Oushk...I am a bit of a planner as I still have 1 stone 6 pounds to lose! But being short my BMI is under 30 already. I want to do the one where you pay £20 a month so you can go back on it if or when you need to..bit of a money maker for charging £20 just to stay on the books? Will be following this thread for further developments. Congratulations to everyone for sticking with it!
Best price by ordering ahead:
I was wondering how you can stockpile pens? Sounds a good idea if you can save a bit of money. Was thinking of ordering from Oushk with £25 September discount for a future date in time but still looking for other deals.

ObsidianTree · 24/09/2024 08:49

Thanks all ☺️

In other news, my Oushk order has been approved. Asked for it to be delivered on Friday.

I built a bit of a stockpile because the guidance used to be stop the medication when you reach BMI 25. I didn't want to get cut off so I order a few extra pens. If I had known that providers were going to change their stance and allow you to stay on MJ, I wouldn't have bought the extra pens! Most providers let you order pretty much straight after you order your previous pen, so it's pretty easy to do. Plus some providers allow you to buy bundle deals 2/3 pens at a time.

I also plan to go onto Oushks plan where you pay £20 a month. So I can use my extra pens while staying with a prescriber. So when I have run out I can move onto their conti plan on a dose I want to settle on in maintenance. I don't mind paying £20 a month to have that security. Glad I have that option now as it means I don't have to keep buying pens to stay on a prescriber books.

Hello, you're all further along than me but I wondered if anyone could advise me on how to get past a plateau as I'm sure everyone faces it at some point.

I've been happy with my progress but had some side effects when I moved up to 5mg which unfortunately made it difficult for me to eat a decent amount of calories.

I'm part way through the second week of 5mg now and feeling a bit more normal but I haven't lost any weight since the first 5mg injection and I don't understand why.

I'm on crutches at the moment so unable to increase exercise. Obviously I'll keep going and hopefully be able to eat properly now but I'm confused about this plateau and why it happens?

ObsidianTree · 24/09/2024 10:05

@Goatblu no one really knows why plateaus happen. It sounds like you haven't lost for under a week so don't think that's a plateau. If you lost a lot in your first month, you shouldn't expect to keep losing at that pace. A good amount to lose is between 1-2lbs a week. There are other factors for slowed down weight loss, such as time of the month which can cause extra water retention. Are you constipated? Psyllium husks fibre tablets help keep you regular. Eating protein helps with weight loss. So try and eat. Drink lots of water too. Eventually things will start moving again. Try not to over think it ok. Just get on with it. Eat your calories, drink your water.

Well done @ObsidianTree on your new stone bracket!

Was coming to chip in on the weight loss comments- I've never had a single person comment when I've gained weight so why do they think they can comment so harshly on weight loss. I got called a bag of bones yesterday and told to not lose any more. I'm a size 16 now albeit 5'11") bmi is still 29.4!

I replied with well according to the nhs I can lose between 2-5 stone and still be a healthy weight 🤪

I'm not focusing on weight so much now but would like to be a size 14, possibly 10/12 if I have skin removal surgery.

Moanranger · 24/09/2024 11:08

@Scalessayeek I think obesity is becoming normalised & that may be why you are getting such comments. I do think what they said is rude & boundary-breaking, but people, eh?
@Goatblu Are you tracking what you eat? That is probably the single most important habit for successful WL.
My story re plateaus- I lost around 25lbs, and stopped tracking, thinking I pretty much ate the same most days, so why bother? Then I stalled. So 5 days ago I re-started tracking, and also weighed myself religiously every morning. I am now 1kg down. Coincidence? Maybe, but I think not.
Tracking is tedious, but necessary, like daily teeth-brushing, etc
@ObsidianTree Well done in breaking into 11st territory - it must feel great!

CiderJabs · 24/09/2024 11:26

Well done @ObsidianTree ! It's such a buzz to get to another stone bracket!

Have you seen the thread where the lady signed up to Jupiter as a new patient and they are now asking for a letter from gp / pharmacist confirming bmi and waist measurement?? That must be a sign that controls are being tightened! I understand the inconvenience but that may put off the liars and those who fiddle with their height- and that can only be q good thing in the long run. It will be interesting to see if others will follow.

On the flip side I'm now fretting about maintenance (again!) and wondering if the £20 oushk plan is a good option. I'm below 25 already and have enough pens to last me until Feb so it's a lot of money to pay when I won't need any for a good 6 months at least. Thoughts ?

Goatblu · 24/09/2024 11:50

Yes @Moanranger , I'm weighing and tracking everything. Even electrolyte drinks.

FlappyFish · 24/09/2024 12:43

@ObsidianTree Yay! How awesome are you feeling?

@Everdecreasingcircumferences well done on the drop to overweight. It helps so much to see something trackable.

@CiderJabs going to say this gently, lovely. You have pens until February… that’s a lot of doses. You have to do what’s right for you, but that’s one heck of a stockpile. Does that take into account reduced doses or keeping on a higher level? You could always book a consultation so your name is known.

I know I’ve gone the other way of saying “I am going to be med free” but just a bit worried about you. (And know I’m saying it with love and kindness as you are my MJ twin!!!)

@Goatblu a whoosh will no doubt come. But I used to think a stall was not losing for three days. 😅 Our bodies aren’t machines and if you’re eating in deficit it will come. We didn’t gain in four months and it doesn’t come off that quickly. I do wish it had come off more slowly for me from a skin point of view. But psychologically I also needed it to come off fast to keep me motivated.

Wonkypictureframe · 24/09/2024 12:52

I had my Oushk consultation today. I loved her and we had a good chat. I’m going to start on Flex but we’ll see whether after I’ve used the pens I have in hand I want to stop or reduce. @CiderJabs I’d suggest you chat to her too.

Choux · 24/09/2024 12:53

@CiderJabs am in a similar position. Pens to last till the end of the year. BMI just over 25. I have placed an order with The Family Chemist rather than Oushk as the prices are similar to Oushk but you aren't reliant on the 15% discount which could be withdrawn at any time or paying £20 a month for essentially nothing. Am still waiting for it be approved mind you so perhaps I will be rethinking my maintenance supplier as it won't be approved.

My plan is to order a pen every 5-6 weeks to (very) slowly reduce my stockpile. I may even come clean about the stockpile and ask if I can order every 7-8 weeks. I will order 10s to start but then will try titrating down and figure out what my long term plan is.

Goatblu · 24/09/2024 12:55

Thank you @ObsidianTree and @FlappyFish.

I do feel bloated. I'm taking psyllium husk daily and it does nothing. I'll try Movicol again. It's a stark contrast from pre mounjaro when my IBS had me running to the loo a few times each day!

doodlydooo · 24/09/2024 12:59

Hello! I hope you don't mind me asking here as I am not yet on MJ but have decided to take it. I wanted to ask people already taking it how useful they found using a service with a coach eg. Voy or Juniper? Or whether it didn't make much of a difference? I was going to go with Juniper but have seen Medexpress prices are so much cheaper but they don't offer any coaching etc. Any feedback would be gratefully received. Thank you x

Azuresky68 · 24/09/2024 13:02

@ObsidianTree thanks so much for your helpful reply 😀 very useful to learn from your experience 👍

ObsidianTree · 24/09/2024 13:41

@CiderJabs I think you'll be ok not ordering anymore pens. Oushk seem very understanding. So say you get to the end of your stash and you aren't ready to come off MJ yet, I'm sure if you explained to Hira they would take you on on the maintenance plan. You could always set up a meeting now with Hira to talk about it and see what she says. She might be happy for you to re-assess in Feb and sign up then.

CiderJabs · 24/09/2024 14:03

Thank you all. I know I'm overthinking it. Just to clarify - I only have 2 new pens and some left in my current pen. But as they are 7.5s and I'm only taking 2.5s, they will last us 7 1/2 weeks per pen (dp also taking 2.5). I know I don't need anymore. And I know you're right @FlappyFish but I'm just scared. I will give myself a kick up the butt and trust the process. And if I do need to go back on it I'll see what happens. Thank you for the talking to. I needed it.

ThirdStorm · 24/09/2024 15:47

I'm glad I'm not the only one who stockpiled in the early days. I'm at goal weight at BMI 24 and have 13 doses left inc bonus doses. I think that should be enough to support my maintenance and eventually come off it. I guess if I get stuck in a few months and start gaining I can explain myself to my supplier and hope they show mercy! I'm really trying to approach maintenance differently and more mindfully than in previous diets so I'm hoping this time will be different and I won't need the meds.

PS. It turns out I gained nothing on holiday and remained the same weight as I weighed 24 hours after the flight home and the extra 1.5lb has gone again! Being happy the scales haven't gone up or down is a new feeling which I'm not yet used to!

KrankyKumquat · 24/09/2024 16:53

@ObsidianTree and anyone in similar position...
Hope you don't mind me asking, but wondering what your goal weight is? I remember that we're both tall and similar bmi/weight loss recently, although I'm a fair bit older i think. I'm in a quandary as I've just started first 10mg pen (it's working fine, no SEs) and I don't have a stockpile. Not sure whether to order another 10 or a 12.5 by the end of the month from Oushk with the current 25% off, or switch now to a maintenance plan - dithering because I really don't know what a realistic goal should be as it's many years since i was 11st something (currently 11.12, bmi 24.5 and still a bit of a flabby size 16). If someone other than my partner knew I was on it, I'd ask them what they thought! Another stone maybe? BMI 23? Another 2/3 months till maintenance? I'm already with Oushk so don't need to worry re switching. Thank you!
