@Flapearedknave
Well done! That's a nice little drop aswell - you're properly in the 10's!
Yes get your consult booked if you're on your last pen as available appts are now a couple of weeks ahead.

NCfor24 · 31/10/2024 09:08

@Flapearedknave well done!
Maintenance looms...so exciting :)

I hate when I'm hovering around a stone bracket. I've been just over 10st for a month now. And then when I am 9st13 I know I'm just a small mistake away from tripping over it again...it's a perilous position! But 10st11 is safe zone, so that's amazing.

And yes I know it makes no real difference being either side of a stone but somehow it's a massive mental thing!

KeepingUndercover · 31/10/2024 09:12

Brilliant stuff @Flapearedknave, it really does give a boost going into a new weight bracket.

Wonkypictureframe · 31/10/2024 12:01

@Flapearedknave brilliant! Well done.

I’ve spent the morning in a swim suit and come to the sad conclusion that even at my lower weight I’m still carrying plenty of fat!

guestusername · 31/10/2024 18:49

Evening all!

Not really been here for the last couple of weeks. Good news is moving house is definitely happening 😀

I read a lot of posts when catching up about eating habits changing and the same has been happening to me. I eat the “normal” stuff, just less of it. I really don’t fancy eating salady stuff. The proper crisps have started creeping back in now whereas over the summer, I rarely ate them. I really need to sort this out and get back to eating more healthy stuff.

The two new 7.5 pens in the fridge are going to have to be my last. I’m coming towards the end of a third 7.5 pen which I’ve been counting clicks for 5mg on. I took a dose on Tuesday and felt like utter shite yesterday so feel like my body is telling me I need to go down another dose so next week I’ll go down to 3.75.

guestusername · 31/10/2024 18:55

I am 4lb away from healthy BMI. If I go from the end of January when I was at my heaviest, I’ve lost 48.25lb. So of course I want to go for 50 😀

I’ve lost 7.5 inches from my hips, 6 inches from my waist, 5 inches from my belly, 8 inches from my spare tyre and 6 inches from my chest. All of my measurements begin with a 3 for the first time in about 15 years. If you’d have asked me 6 months ago if I thought any f this was possible, I’d have laughed in your face 🤣

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 31/10/2024 18:57

BMI has shot up from 25.1 to 25.4 within a couple of days FFS.

Yesterday I bought a long dress from Joules but they didn't have a 12. A 14 felt fine so I sent a photo to DP and realised I looked like I was about to join a religious cult 😄. On the photo it looked so shapeless, large and frilly. So I sized down to the 10 and that was way better. Sizing down is something I'd never have done when I was bigger, I'd have always gone for extra tent shape than something tighter.

Realised I ought to get on with booking my wedding. Should have done that before now as I don't know how much of the weight I'll keep off.

KrankyKumquat · 31/10/2024 22:02

I received a message from my doctor's surgery today, asking me to book an appointment for a 'health check'. I've been with them over 20years and never known this before so can't help wondering if it's a response to notification from prescriber, although they've had that nearly 6 months now. Before MJ, I'd have been completely freaked out by this (I'm rather phobic and avoid doctor's appts - years of fat shaming, a bad anaphalactic reaction to the flu jab some years back and having to deal with them as a carer for demented family members have really messed with my head). But I'm actually OK with it now - they can weigh me and I'll have a healthy bmi, do my BP and it'll be low, I can say in all honesty that i rarely drink alcohol, and am healthier than I've been in decades. I've never had my cholesterol measured so might request this - is there anything else I should maybe ask about getting tested, do you think?

KeepingUndercover · 31/10/2024 22:08

I had a health check recently @KrankyKumquat, it was because they are meant to offer you one every 5 years once you're 40, if that fits your age range. They did cholesterol as standard, a whole bunch of other blood stuff, diabetes stuff, vitamin D, blood pressure etc. It will probably already include everything you might want.

KrankyKumquat · 31/10/2024 22:13

@KeepingUndercover
Thank you. I'm 58 so seems like I might have been missed previously perhaps. That list's interesting, I hope they do all the stuff you mention, it would be a good MOT.

KeepingUndercover · 31/10/2024 22:17

At the GP I only had the basics done, weight, blood pressure, questions about alcohol use and exercise and stress. Then I had to go and do blood tests separately after they gave me all the forms. I quite enjoyed it because I got to skip the weight lecture after I told them I'd lost X amount of weight recently. Think it was 20kg at the time as it was a few months back.

KrankyKumquat · 31/10/2024 22:20

@KeepingUndercover
Yes I'm expecting gasps of admiration and a round of applause when I get on the scales!😅

ThirdStorm · 01/11/2024 10:02

@KeepingUndercover that sounds more through than I thought it would be! I'm fortunate to receive a company medical which is very in depth so don't go for the NHS offered one. But I did see a nurse at my practice recently and she congratulated me on my weight loss!

KrankyKumquat · 01/11/2024 10:30

I've now booked my health check appt for end of Nov. Hopefully I'll be in the 10's/ bmi 22 something, by then. I'll be taking a list of tests I'd like doing.

11st 2lbs this morning on official weigh day so another 1.5lb off this week which brings total to 58lb. It's been my birthday week so had a few treats and meals out, but ate home-made soup on the in-between days so i'm pleased that worked in terms of keeping me on track. I used to do IF 3 or 4 days a week when I was younger but it stopped working as i hit menopause - interesting that it seems to be effective again while on MJ. I still haven't had a week when I haven't lost so feeling very fortunate. Sticking with 10mg for final month before maintenance, consultation booked for couple of weeks time with Oushk.

My renpho scale has my metabolic age and chronological age as finally matching - it's dropped 5 years since I started! A nice birthday present 🎁

guestusername · 01/11/2024 10:47

My last, and only over 40’s check up went like this -

Them - how tall are you?
Me - 5ft 7
Them - how much do you weigh?
Me - whatever it was at the time
Them - let me take your blood pressure
Me - has blood pressure
Them - you need to lose weight. I will give you the usual spiel the nhs gives you without actually knowing anything about you. Ok bye

That was it! I was in there for less than 5 minutes. Not one blood test offered or even discussed. That was when I was about 42. I’m 47 now and haven’t been called for one since

KrankyKumquat · 01/11/2024 10:54

@guestusername
Oh dear, not good. It's a 20min appt so I'm hoping 18mins of that isn't set aside for lecturing!

imnottoofussed · 01/11/2024 11:58

Mine was very similar although I think they did a finger prick test for glucose

NextPrimeMinister · 02/11/2024 09:36

I am now at 60lb weight loss, and 1lb away from my goal. BMI 23.7.

Due to continued bingo wings and gut over hang, I am toying with a lower 7lb target weight, which would take me to BMI of 22.7

Those who have settled on a weight, how did you know when to stop?

AgathaMystery · 02/11/2024 09:40

Morning all!

some lovely losses and maintains to read about - everyone is doing so well.

I’m stalled on 72kg but this happened to me on 82 as well. God I saw that number for weeks. I’ve been 70-72kg for 3 weeks now but it’s okay. I’m just titrating doses so I’m not too peckish but also energised as so have really increased my exercise levels.

Doing 8.5mg for now.

ObsidianTree · 02/11/2024 09:57

Morning all,

1lb loss this week. 11st 5lbs. That was from Thursday when I last weighed as I am up north today visiting my cousins.

So was our with my cousins last night for a curry. They are quite amazed at my weight loss and asked how I did it etc. I fed my usual lines. Then later they were talking about their friends that are on weight loss drugs and losing weight etc... so I decided to come clean. They were fine about it and I feel already suspected that I was on a weight loss drug. It seems that a lot of their friends are on them etc. For them it was quite surprising that I lost the weight as they haven't seen me slim like this since my teens apparently and they know I've struggled with my weight since I got my thyroid diagnosis. So to hear how diet is now working after years and years of it not working before... I guess more people must know than I realise!

I said to not their their mum... I might tell her. But don't really want my mum and sister finding out. Will have to think about it!

@NextPrimeMinister
Well done! We appear to be at almost exactly the same point - I'm a couple of lbs off 60lbs. My goal weight keeps moving down too, from healthy BMI (12st), to 11st, now 10st7 which would be BMI 22 something. When to stop depends perhaps on how much faith you have in BMI as a concept. I'm ok with it for my body shape/build so gonna stick with mid-healthy range. Also clothes sizing - a comfy size 14 is realistic and probably my limit, again due to my broad and tall body build. And I'm not expecting to transform my rather old and saggy body much more through weight loss, without really committing to exercise as well! But I have now booked a 'Body Pump' class (god help me).
I'm prepared to continue to lose a small amount once I start titrating down next month so I'm not too hung up on this last half stone. I have noticed that small amounts of weight loss have a disproportionate impact now I'm so much lighter so maybe another half stone will have a similar impact on your 'problem areas' too?

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 04/11/2024 05:16

Hey all,
It's lovely to catch up on how everyone is doing - lots in or approaching maintenance, which is encouraging and inspiring!
I've been doing well. I started really exercising and it's having such a dramatic effect on my weight loss. I struggled at the start to exercise on mj, probably because I was in such a calorie deficit and not used to it, but now that I am used to it, I have all this extra energy. It's great! And I'm not finding that I'm eating more or wanting to eat more thankfully. I'm still on 10mg - this seems to be my sweet spot for dosage.
I'm about 63lbs down now. Size 22 to a 16 and feel brilliant. I still have a ways to go, but I'm enjoying the journey and all the new energy I now have!
I will try to check in more often - work is just a lot at the mo!

That's amazing well done!

A lot of the others started smaller- I was a 24 and I'm down to a 14/16 at the moment. Wondering how you are feeling overall? I have so much loose skin everywhere but I lost 103 pounds in 8 months so it's to be expected. I struggled to shave my thighs yesterday with how loose the skin was 😟

I already weigh less than my original goal but I thought it would take 12-18 months to get there. I think in an ideal world I would get down to 12 stone so I've another 27 pounds to go.

KeepingUndercover · 04/11/2024 13:03

Well done @JanetSnakeholeMacklin and @Scalessayeek, nice to hear from some others with a similar starting point to me. You're both doing great.

I was sick last week and ended up not doing my injection. Still a pound down this week, but still just hovering at a BMI just above 30. I will see 29 at some point!

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 04/11/2024 19:51

@Scalessayeek Overall I'm feeling good. I don't think my weight loss was dramatic - less than 2lbs per week average. It's ramped up a bit now since exercising. I am not sure about loose skin, I thought I had some but it kinda firmed up a bit again, although I am approx halfway (BMI 35 at the mo) to my goal so I have no doubt my stomach will look like a deflated balloon soon! Hopefully the strength training in the gym will mitigate that a little.
I don't even care that much anyway. I'd rather have a bit of loose skin than the weight I was carrying for far too long!

@KeepingUndercover ooh you're so close! Good luck for an under 30 BMI! Does that mean "overweight" instead of obese? I can't wait to be just overweight!
