@JanetSnakeholeMacklin under 30 is the "overweight" rather than "obese" category. It would be nice to be in there!

So far I'm not noticing a lot of loose skin either. I did have a panic that my legs looked really crepey at one point but I don't think they do. I've got terrible bingo wings but it still seems like fat rather than just skin. I've nearly lost 6 stone now if my maths is right.

Moanranger · 04/11/2024 21:54

Hello all, and well done for the losses. I have not posted much as little to report. My losses are so slow, 1/2 lb a week is typical. I am on 4th dose of 7.5 & won’t go any higher, suppression and side effects are strong, & I have 6.5 lbs to goal. Now I find small losses are much more noticeable as my weight drops. Current BMI is 26.8. At this rate it will take 13 weeks to get to goal, but my partner is away most of November & I don’t have much on, so I am hoping to improve rate of losses soon.
I have a maintenance consultation with Oushk on Weds, & will report back after that.

AgathaMystery · 04/11/2024 22:21

Ooo yes please report back. I am keen to know the details.

BlackFriYay · 05/11/2024 07:57

Does everyone remember our poster who had to stop because she found out she was pregnant? The same has just happened to my SIL, after 5 years of fertility problems and struggling to conceive.. after a few months on mounjaro she's now 6 weeks pregnant with their much longed for first baby 🙂

She's attributing it to the mounjaro. Amazing drug. Hopefully there will be some research done in this area because we already know how beneficial it is for other things such as heart disease etc.

I'm over the moon for them.

The MN poster, if I recall correctly, found out she was having twins.. Well my SIL is a twin, that would be a double blessing 😁

ObsidianTree · 05/11/2024 08:38

Well done everyone for great processes. I will catch up reading later and reply properly.

@BlackFriYay that's amazing news for your sil! So another thing Mounjaro can do! It is such an amazing drug!

I'm getting nervous about stopping. Started in April, lost 28% of my body weight and I have 9 doses left and I'm going to 12 day space (last 3 doses I did a 10 day space and I felt good). I've been at goal weight since end of September. I'm on the lowest dose of 2.5mg. My last order with MedExpress was in August and my BMI is 23.5 so I think I'm cut off from them. My only option would be Ouskh but I'm so torn, I do want to stop, I should stop I can't be on this forever but I don't want to undo all my hard work if I stop too early.

KrankyKumquat · 05/11/2024 09:15

@ThirdStorm
You've done amazing - getting to goal weight and maintaining for so long on such a low dose. And feeling good on it - gives me hope.
But I can relate to your anxiety. Not sure I know the best route for you but one option would be a consultation only with Hira at ouskh (£5). She says she's willing to discuss personalized plans in 1-1s and might have some ideas about next steps. I understand you'd be under no obligation to sign up with them after. Or your own prescriber might do similar? It might just clarify things a bit, especially about when best to come off completely if that's what you want to do eg one month on, one month off or something.

Wonkypictureframe · 05/11/2024 09:45

I’ll be finished with my pens mid-December and have signed up with Oushk too for maintenance. I really want to try without the pens but not need to put on loads to go back to them if I need them.

CiderJabs · 05/11/2024 11:20

@ThirdStorm we are in a similar place I've also been on 2.5 since September. I've been using 7.5 pens between me and my partner but that does mean we are going over the 30 days. I've also been maintaining (if I'm completely honest I've been losing a small amount of weight most weeks) and am finding it manageable. We have pens to last us until April (when they expire) and I also don't think I'll be able to buy anymore. On my last order I managed to get a double pack which hurt my pocket but it gave me one more pen!!

MJqueen · 05/11/2024 13:38

Hi all, it's been an age since I've posted. Probably a full thread!

Haven't been on mn much, and sorry to jump back in to ask a quick question without checking on all your updates. All is going well for me, I'm getting closer to my own goal weight which is fab. This drug is truly life changing and I'm so pleased I tried it.

Does anyone know the latest expiry dates for the 15mg pens? Is it still Feb 2025? I have a couple in the fridge still and enough doses, inc bonus, to see me through until Feb but don't want to leave a huge ordering gap in case that causes issues with the prescribers.

I expect/hope to be around my maintenance by end-Feb (BMI 25ish) but would like to have a couple of pens on hand to count clicks and step down doses as I consider weaning off.

FlappyFish · 05/11/2024 15:09

I am coming back to update to say… maintenance is hard as hell. All food noise back. Not even hungry and want to eat. I am gaining and I feel out of control.

Now part of that is the darkness this time of year. The other part is… food is yummy. 😂 And it turns out this really is a brain thing. I did know that really. Even with exercise and structure I have had food creeping up and I am 7lbs up.

It is just a warning as I feel like I’m locked in another battle now.

KeepingUndercover · 05/11/2024 15:14

Have you gone cold turkey @FlappyFish? Would you consider going on a maintenance dose? I think it's inevitable that most people on this treatment will need to be on it in some form for life. Otherwise we'd all have got thin without intervention.

FlappyFish · 05/11/2024 15:19

@KeepingUndercover i reduced down and I have not injected for over a month. But yes, I have come to realise I need something. Not as high as I got - which was only 10 anyway - but even to go back to 2.5. I’m not sure I would even get that now. I have a consultation booked with Oushk for two weeks time. I don’t know if they will even consider it now. I have visions of ballooning back up to have to access it which I know is panic thoughts.

I spent so long doing the work and exercise and now it’s like boom. Nice try, Flappy. I’m not even eating badly. But clearly something is happening. The part is self sabotage.

ThirdStorm · 05/11/2024 15:34

@FlappyFish I'm sorry to hear it is tough. But I bet you recognising that its tough and you've gained is a big difference to how it was before? Whilst I'm still on a low dose I'm keeping a diary, logging calories, logging weekly weight and meal planning in the hope that helps solidify my new permanent behaviours........... could anything like that help you?

ObsidianTree · 05/11/2024 15:40

@FlappyFish sorry to hear it's not working out.

I think oushk will be fine with you joining back for maintenance. Just as long as you have proof of your last order etc. You tried to go it alone so that will go towards something for sure.

Oushk have expiry august 25 for 15mg pens. So hoping it's that expiry for most suppliers.

I think the biggest challenge I have is I can feel some old behaviours creeping in and now wanting to binge. MJ stopped that.

Not even a bag of sweets lol.

I haven’t been as disciplined and as I’m sure most of us know you can have the fuck it attitude. I’m gaining from not eating a lot - I sure as heck haven’t eaten the extra 20,000 calories. Maybe I have. Maybe I do need to track better.

Sigh. I really didn’t want to come back and post this. But I think I owe it to us all to say what’s happening as I was one of the first to stop.

Don't panic @FlappyFish - I think what you're experiencing is very normal - I think it's brilliant that you're posting about it and have booked an Oushk maintenance appt - I have very little doubt this is what will happen when I stop MJ and can't quite conceive how maintenance will work - maybe a 2.5mg dose every couple of weeks?

(Hope it's ok to post here - I've only been on MJ 10 weeks but promise not to deluge you with questions about bonus doses or moving up from 2.5mg 😁 @KrankyKumquat suggested I try posting here for some sage chat about life as maintenance approaches - I'm probably about 20 pounds off that point)

Snozzlemaid · 05/11/2024 16:56

Thank you for posting this @FlappyFish
I'm only half way through my journey but have been reading this thread to help me decide what to do when I reach the healthy weight I am after.
As my BMI is dropping I have thought about it more and more and to be honest the thought of stopping does scare me.
I've been losing well and consistently but the smallest change to my diet really affects the losses. I don't feel I'm eating much so I honestly don't think I'll keep this up without MJ.
I track my calories and most days I just about have 1000, if it creeps up to 1200 i won't lose, just stay at current weight.
Without MJ there's no way I'll keep my calorie intake to around 1200 to maintain that weight.
I'm going to have to book a maintenance discussion with Oushk when my BMI drops more so I have long term options.

KrankyKumquat · 05/11/2024 17:06

@85reasons Hi there!

Me and @85reasons met on a recent thread about life after MJ which, shall we say, didn't go as we'd anticipated and hoped. I said this was a very safe and friendly place to share, discuss and learn about all things weight loss and maintenance, with and without MJ, with all views and experiences represented and respected. The best WLM thread on MN!

@MJqueen ive received 15mg from two different suppliers recently, both with August 2025 dates on (also stockpiling whilst they’re cheap). The only downside to this is that at some point I’m going to have to decide whether to start going back down as part of the maintenance idea and to make sure there’s not too long a gap between prescriptions which would cause an issue. Still got a good 2.5stoneto lose yet tho. I’ve
noticed Superdrug are offering a third off now and when I cancelled my Voy subscription they offered me an instant 40% off to stay. Competition is hopefully a good thing!

All this TDEE stuff I’m struggling with. I’m eating an extra 3,000 calories a week on top of what I was when loosing, successfully maintaining. But still 3,500 below my TDEE. So I technically should be losing weight but I’m not which is good but confusing!

08/25 expiry from Medino.
