Great work at staying the same weight @ThirdStorm

Great work only gaining 3lbs on hol and already being down half of it @Ghilliedu. Hope you had a great holiday.

Ghilliedu · 23/10/2024 21:48

Thanks, I was shocked tbh but I’ll take it. And had a fabulous holiday - very much needed!

So after asking for recommendations for the sulphur burps yesterday it turned out they were the least of my worries. Had to log off work early because from about 4pm I could not move from the toilet (sorry tmi!) and then about 11pm the vomiting started too and that was me all night long. I haven’t had that since I tried to move up from 2.5 to 5. I had to call in sick today. Feeling more human now and managed to eat some crackers.

Maybe I shouldn’t have gone straight back to 7.5 after a 2 week break. I was getting on so well with it before the break I just assumed I’d be fine!

Moanranger · 23/10/2024 22:31

Ah, it’s all kicking off yet again on AIBU😱😱

ObsidianTree · 24/10/2024 06:55

@Ghilliedu yes it's probably going back to the 7.5mg after a break. I did something similar when I got back from.holiday after skipping a dose! Hope you feel better soon. Take it easy building back up your doses. Slow and steady for sure!

Ah, it’s all kicking off yet again on AIBU😱😱

Was that the thread where the op stated that people on weight loss drugs are fanatical or something? I cba with it last night. Had a look now and I'm not seeing it. Assuming it got too heated so was pulled!

OP posts:
Choux · 24/10/2024 08:20

If it was 'all these weight loss jobs are a bad move' it's still there. Over 700 posts in less than 24 hours.

I had a lunch yesterday with some work colleagues. One of them now works in a different team so we don't see each other so often. I will say now that they are much closer friends than me and I was invited by the colleague who I sit next to who is probably the centre of the group.

The person from the different team arrived where we were meeting and said hi to me and then said 'well you are fading away' which everyone heard. It was a bit awkward so I just smiled and said well not really. Someone else said 'oh yes we know' in a quite dismissive tone - not sure if it was dismissive of the topic or being a bit negative about my weight loss. I also felt like perhaps they have been talking about me amongst themselves.

I am BMI 24.6 down from about 30-31. Hardly fading away but I guess perhaps the weight loss is showing in my face now and am over 50 so possibly starting to look older as it slims. Anyway I then had to have lunch with them. I was the only one who had salad instead of chips with their meal but I cleared my plate and stole a few chips off someone else's when offered.

The person who said it is normally lovely, is a bit overweight herself and I know is quite sensitive about it. But I felt really awkward at her comment about fading away. It is starting to get me thinking about where I should be aiming for weight wise and if my goal to lose another 8lbs is too much.

Ghilliedu · 24/10/2024 08:59

@ObsidianTree I definitely will be doing that. My next pen arrives today and it’s a 10mg as I thought after two 7.5s I’d be ready to move up. Wishing I’d gone for another 7.5 now!

I got a few pages in to the AIBU thread before giving up. It’s the same old nonsense. There does seem to be more people defending the jabs now, and trying to make others see reason than some of the other threads I’ve seen. Still couldn’t be bothered with it though.

KrankyKumquat · 24/10/2024 09:36

@Choux
That all sounds a bit awkward Choux. It's not an easy situation - I met with OH's extended family recently and felt very uncomfortable too. I'd have been embarrassed by the focus on my physical appearance if I'd lost so much weight 'naturally' too, but keeping MJ a secret adds another layer of ducking and diving.
Choosing when to finish losing is interesting. I must admit watching the scales reduce is the highlight of my week. I was expecting the weight loss to get harder and slower but this hasn't really happened to me and I still haven't stalled so I just keep going. When you've shed a lot of fat, small loses seem to have a disproportionately high impact on body shape and flab levels too - I keep discovering new boney bits, like my shoulder blades last night! Having never been thin, it's all very new and a bit addictive! However, bmi 23 is where I need to stop I think as it's possible I'll loss a little more during the early stages of maintenance

CiderJabs · 24/10/2024 09:45

I read about 20 posts of that thread last night and got bored. It still amazes me that MN allows some of those comments.

This morning I've reached my lowest weight yet - 9st 10.2. My bmi is 23.3. I relate to the addictive feeling of seeing the scales go down and this is something that is constantly on my mind too. I keep wishing my bmi was 22.5 for no other reason than it's half way between 20 and 25. It's a tough one to control.

Jab day tomorrow and I've woken up hungry. I'm feeling less and less suppression as the weeks go by and am happy I'm still maintaining/ losing a little bit.

Choux · 24/10/2024 09:57

Yes @KrankyKumquat it might have been possible for me to lose the 40lbs I have lost naturally at say 1lb a week. But that would have needed a monumental focus which probably less than 1% of people who try a diet can maintain for 40 plus weeks. So I wonder if, when talking about my weight loss they have theorised I might be using weight loss injections. And perhaps they also think they are unsafe, for vain people, cheating etc.

This weekend I am meeting a friend I haven't see for months. She is very outspoken. Let's see what she says.

I have spent the year being a bit antisocial, avoiding some friends where our meetings always revolved around food and alcohol and have just got on with losing weight by eating protein and salad at home all summer. I am now starting to dread my re emergence into seeing those people. I have spent the year with people who want to meet for walks (often with dogs 😀) and I have really enjoyed it.

Wonkypictureframe · 24/10/2024 10:00

@Choux I wouldn't let comments like that put you off losing a bit more if you think that's right for you. I think we've all had similar comments when we were still quite a bit more than we wanted to be. On the other hand, if you feel comfortable as you are, then maybe that original goal isn't meaningful any more?

I am still on 7.5mg but have only lost about 2lbs this month so I think my body has made its own mind up about how much I'm going to weigh! I don't need to lose any more either and I'm not too fussed, only that when I stop in December, I know there'll be a bit of a bounce back and I wanted a cushion of some extra loss there. If that doesn't happen then I'll just deal with it I guess.

Choux · 24/10/2024 10:17

Thanks but I still have according to Renpho body fat of 35% and a metabolic age two years higher than my real age.

I have always said that if I start to look old and haggard I will not lose any more weight. I do think you have to choose somewhat between your face and your body when you get a bit older and, since hardly anyone really sees me naked or in a swimsuit , I will choose my face every time!

KrankyKumquat · 24/10/2024 10:45

@Choux
Urghhh, that fat % is so tough. Mine's still at 32.8 and getting down to 30 seems monumental, given how slowly it changes. I'm still a year over metabolic age but birthday next week so I'm hoping the scales don't do some weird readjustment then 😅. Visceral fat has now dropped down to 6 which is excellent apparently so I'm chuffed with that as it's the really important one, especially given my age.

My birthday was earlier this month and the scales added a year to my metabolic age so it didn't get closer to my real age!!!

Am impressed with visceral fat of 6. Mine is 8 but I only recently got the scales so I don't know what it was pre Mounjaro.

That's outrageous, I'm proper pissed off to hear that 😡😅
My visceral fat was 12 when I got the scales and was about 4st heavier, if that gives you an idea of where yours might have started.

That's interesting to know. I just got a set of Renpho today and mine is 9, I've lost 4 stone so assume it was a lot higher. My old scales did fat and visceral fat, but they have annoying handles you have to unclip and use and I never bothered. Probably also didn't want to know!

TimeIretired · 24/10/2024 15:29

For anyone that’s looking to change suppliers - I’m taking my last (bonus) dose of my first 15mg pen. Suppression has been about the same and no more side effects than the other doses. Have been with Voy for my last few pens due to discounts but still have a long way to go (4st+) so need to save amap.

Phlo turned me down as they only want people on 2.5 so tried a newbie - Levity who are advertising on FB. Have to say they were brilliant. Same consultation process as the others and once id provided evidence of current prescription they approved in a couple of Hours and delivered (via RM) in 48 hours. £129! Worth considering and no, I don’t get a kick back 😊

NCfor24 · 24/10/2024 19:27

My BMI is 25.1....so close! I'm almost healthy according to an arbitrary number on an outdated system!

Still don't have a final goal....Nutracheck says I have 3.5lb to go and Monitor Your Weight says 8.5lb. I definitely have plenty of belly fat to lose so I guess I keep going.
But how do you know where to stop? I'm worried about getting slim and not being able to maintain and wonder whether I should stop now-ish and focus on maintaining here...but I'm only 5'3 and still a size 12/14 so can definitely afford to drop another stone or so.
I'm with MedExpress and heard they can cut people off at healthy BMI so I should think about making my move to Oushk really.... Urgh, it feels like I need to make a decision and I don't know what to do!

NextPrimeMinister · 24/10/2024 19:42

I'm 5 3 and am 9 11, but am trying for 9 07.

But it's getting hard and had to up my 10gm to 12 5gm this week.

I swapped to Oushk last month and on their 3 month plan. Really easy to do, if not a bit weird because of the video call.

NCfor24 · 25/10/2024 11:54

Thanks @NextPrimeMinister . I'm going to set 9st 7 as my next goal. I definitely have sufficient fat still that it is realistic. I'm taking 3rd dose of 12.5mg tonight and it seems to have made a difference even though I don't feel a difference, this week the weight has shifted a bit more.
And I'll order my last pen from ME and book my Oushk consultation. I think the video bit is putting me off a little!

Hira is lovely so you will be in good hands but I’m sure if you message her beforehand, she will let you do a voice call too.

Smallsalt · 25/10/2024 15:44

Chatting to an acquaintance who happens to be a local GP.
She is looking noticeably slimmer since I last bumped into her. I mentioned this ( I like to live dangerously apparently!)

"Oh I'm on Mounjaro" she said very matter of factly.

Can't tell you how pleased this made me. ( I still didn't let on to her about me in response though😳)

So a doctor is completely up front about it, meanwhile I am still being bloody secret squirrel!
It does make me think that the GP practice won't be too arsey about the jabs given that one of them is on it!

Smallsalt · 25/10/2024 15:49

Also , I was at a funeral today , so folk you don't see very often.
A/ many of them didn't know it was me
B/ I was told I looked like a film star😂

Happiest I have ever been at a funeral!

chesterlestreet · 25/10/2024 16:22

Hello All, congratulations to everyone for the big losses and special mention to those managing to keep it off. It's really encouraging thank you. I started in the last days of March at 13st 8 and am now 10 st 3 BMI 23.8. Still have a too large stomach but the classic MJ zero bum. Saggy arms and inner thighs and keep meaning to start some exercise. Am on my first 12.5mg pen and thinking about starting to titrate down BUT am heading off on a 2 1/2 week holiday next week. I will be on the move throughout the holiday and need energy (no MJ fatigue days possible) and will be faced with good food and wine. I definitely won't be taking 12.5mg. I don't want to put weight on but won't mind if I gain a few pounds as I know it will be short term. Any advice on whether to go cold turkey and start again when I get back or to try a reduced dose?

Moanranger · 25/10/2024 18:15

@chesterlestreet my own view is don’t go off it. I take it while I go on holiday & it works out fine. I can drink a bit & eat a variety of foods but neither of those two in excess. I think my weight went up 1-2 lbs.
I have seen reports of people doing what you are contemplating & having a world of problems when they go back on. It may not happen to you, but why take the risk?
