@ObsidianTree ive switched “horbaach” as they are 1400mg each rather than solgar 500mg each. It’ll work out cheaper as I’ll take just 1 and hopefully more effective at a slightly higher dose.

Let us know if they work as well 🙂 thanks

I'm pretty stable with side effects after sticking to 10mg for a while, once the initial increase settled down. I do also get the dizziness, drinking lots of water is meant to help. I also don't stand straight up if I've been laying down. I sit up first for a bit and then stand, helps the blood pressure adjust.

This is the earliest of these monthly Mounjaro threads that I can find. Can I ask if anyone here has gotten to their goal weight and is now maintaining? How is it working out? It's great to read real time experiences from the earlier MJ users if you don't mind. Thanks x

Quite a lot of the most recent chat is about maintenance if you want to skim through the posts. There's a few who are there or fast approaching.

Moanranger · 20/10/2024 11:32

@ObsidianTree I have a similar, though not as severe, coughing, which I always assumed related to MJ. I wouldn’t consider it a major side effect for me.
I forgot to mention coldness. It isn’t constant, but occasional, but when it hits, it is bad. Particularly if I get chilled it takes ages to warm up, though a hot bath is effective. I am wearing multiple layers & socks at all times.
This morning I hit my lowest weight, broke into the 10st range & 8lbs from final goal. I am on 2nd dose of first pen of 7.5, & finding suppression very effective.I am hoping I can stick on this dose until goal, 🤞🏻

ThirdStorm · 20/10/2024 11:35

@OnMyWayToLoseville like @KeepingUndercover says a few of us are at goal weight. I’m at goal weight and taking 2.5mg (which is the dose I’ve been on the entire time). I’ve not lost weight for 4 weeks! I’m finding this harder than the loosing weight phase. I think I’ve figured out how many calories to eat now and I was previously keto and my carbs are now up to 80-100g a day. I’ve got 11 weeks of MJ left and I’m planning to use that time wisely so I’m ready for life after MJ. Exercise alludes me but that’s the next thing to introduce.

KrankyKumquat · 20/10/2024 11:46

@Moanranger
Well done on the new milestone. I'm 4 lbs off the 10's and really want to get there soon - in my mind, it's a proper, normal, non-fatty weight. Me and my OH (who doesn't have a weight problem) are in a bit of a competition to get there - in the months I've been on MJ, he's lost 4lbs compared to my 4st so he's getting a bit angsty that I'm going to weigh less than him quite soon 😅

OnMyWayToLoseville · 20/10/2024 12:06

Thank you @KeepingUndercover and @ThirdStorm. Will read through again now x

Smallsalt · 20/10/2024 16:54

@ObsidianTree I too have the curse of the C Section shelf ( X2 and twins!)

I wouldn't call it fat exactly, more a load of skin , but noticeable as the rest of me is skinny.
I live in Conturve now, I feel naked without them! It all looks fine in proper "zip up" jeans with not much stretch, but in jeggings or anything lycrafied as is my preference ,that bloody wee shelf escapes!

The bum is completely flat, it doesnt actually come out any further than my legs, and they are pretty skinny! I feel like I have an old lady shape. At this weight 10 years ago I had a fabulous figure and a bum!

Over waist band fat is gone so that's good, no rolls when sitting!

Weirdly my boobs , whilst reduced ( 42DD to 36C) haven't vanished........they used to totally go when I was slim, but they are hanging in there, which doesn't suit me actually. Getting back into sport, I would prefer the flat boob look.

The only other place I am holding fat ( or it might be skin, not sure) is arm pits. Kind of shoogly bits hanging over the side of my bra or escaping from my Conturve camis!

I have been a bit lax eating wise. Some bad stuff if I am honest. But still at dramatically reduced calories. This has meant no loss in a month. Sitting on 8stone 11lb. This would be plenty slim enough if not for the fore mentioned wobbly bits, hence hoping to lose a tad more. My worry is it will just come from my sorry wee arse or skinny legs!

What is does tell me is that whilst my weight problem was due to over eating.......I really wasn't actually over eating enough to be as fat as I was. I was over eating enought to be a bit plump, not to be a Zeplin! I bloody knew it was my particular annoying type of metabolism . I am plateaued, on restricted calories,( just a bit less restricted than I was) on which most people would see weight melting.

On a plus note, I am very fit despite my routine being a bit slack for the last few weeks.
My metabolic age is 10years below my real age and I had my VO2 max measured and it's better that 90% of folk my age. So that's all good. I was always actually a very fit fatty, so now I am a fit skinny! I intend to get back to hitting up the exercise hard from tomo, as I do actually love being fit. Just took my eye off the ball a bit recently.

Supression just "OK" on 15mg but I think thats due to the whole "warmpengate" fiasco.

Gabapentin is the best for bruxism.

tooth grinding/jaw clenching?

tooth grinding/jaw clenching?

I had Botox for mine, it worked really well. I had two lots, 4 weeks apart and I've gone from bad jaw ache all the time to nothing. It took a few months to fully kick in.

Ghilliedu · 20/10/2024 22:31

In terms of ongoing symptoms, mine are nausea - always on day 1 after injecting and so regular that I now take a cyclizine tablet automatically before I go to bed the day I’ve injected, and fatigue - again always on day 1 and sometimes on day 2, I am exhausted!

Finally recovered from awful jet lag so I have just jabbed 2 weeks late. Decided to weigh myself tomorrow morning to see what the holiday damage is. Three weeks of tequila and tacos- wish me luck!

Moanranger · 20/10/2024 23:46

@dcbgr actually, a mouth guard is most effective.

Thinking about it, it's got to be related to the 15mg as it's not something I've had since the start. It's a recent side effect along with the needing to burp. Maybe the 15mg is too strong for me. Maybe the slowing digesting is causing it. I will see if it settles down by the end of my 2nd pen. Then might have to drop down to 12.5mg for next pen. It doesn't bother me too much. But the reflux reason does make sense.

Sorry, just saw this. Definitely could be related to the delayed gastric emptying. My GERD cough always was triggered by slow digestion and a heavily bloated stomach where the trapped acid reflux created mad volumes of gas which then was pressing heavily on the diaphragm (IBS caused by SIBO not MJ). Your post-cough vomiting is the reflux finally escaping. Have you spoken to Hira of Oushk on this symptom? Hope you feel better soon!

Wise words. I thought I’d mis-read when someone wrote gabapentin. It’s a beast of a drug!

I really get bad bruxism with this drug (I mean MJ), it did settle after 3 weeks and again about 48hrs after each dose increase.

KeepingUndercover · 21/10/2024 11:27

My cat was on Gabapentin and the initial dose was a bit high and she didn't move for a weekend.

I have lost the bit of weight I gained last week and some more. Glad to be back on a downward track.

Ghilliedu · 22/10/2024 13:23

Post holiday weigh in on Monday - gained 3lbs. Honestly pleased with that as I expected more!

Weighed again this morning and have lost 1.5lbs of that already so hopefully the rest will come off as the week goes on!

Today I have the dreaded sulphur burps for the first time since I tried to take 3.75 back in May. I forgot how utterly disgusting they are. The last time they were accompanied by horrific vomiting so I didn’t take anything for them. I feel like this is such a rookie question but what is best to take? I’ve never really paid attention to recommendations before as it’s not been an issue

Tums or gaviscon helped me. Hope you're feeling bit better today

ThirdStorm · 23/10/2024 13:35

I've been at goal weight for nearly a month. I've just finished pen 5 and I've maintained my weight for 4 weeks! Being at goal weight still feels quite new and unreal, and I'm mostly rid of my secret desire to keep losing. The last 3 doses I've taken 10 days apart and it'll be interesting to see if this last dose is effective given its been over 30 days since I started the pen. Over the last month I've felt good, hungry when I should be but not inbetween meals, I've stuck to my calories and its all felt quite well managed and calm. I'm still not exercising - I will have to persuade myself to do something!

KrankyKumquat · 23/10/2024 16:22

To @ObsidianTree and everyone else who had to suffer my stroppy tantrum about still being a size 16, despite losing 4st and getting to sub-bmi 25, it's finally happened. I am now, officially, a size 14. Praise the Lord (and the inventors of MJ).

Moanranger · 23/10/2024 19:34

@KrankyKumquat Well done!

ObsidianTree · 23/10/2024 20:59

Well done @KrankyKumquat that's great news ☺️

Hello all

I was an April starter and I think I'm nearly at my target now. I keep changing it but have to decide sooner or later

I started at nearly 15 stone and I'm now 9 stone 6. All on 2.5 and 5 over the last 6 weeks or so. My BMI was 36 ish and is now 22.5

I've been with medexpress all along but not sure now what to do re maintenance. I've got a chat with Oushk tomorrow morning as to my knowledge, they're the only pharmacy so far today they'll support maintenance at a lower BMI

I've set my final target at 8 stone 13 but really, I'm probably about OK now - I really wish there was some really robust guidelines on maintenance and coming off it or staying on at a low dose (although who knows how this works?)

I've realised that for me, it's not about bedding in new habits blah blah blah. I literally could qualify as a dietician, such is my knowledge of nutrition and exercise etc etc and what we should do and what we shouldn't. I KNOW all of it - but still, I've yo-yo'd terribly all my life if I'm being honest. I've been this weight before for oohhh all of about 5 mins each time

So I know this drug does something to my metabolism. I don't have food suppression and never have but I'm just able to eat normally and I average 1400 cals a day. And I don't fancy my chances being off it - even though I try and tell myself that THIS TIME I've cracked it. Chances are - I haven't
