I donate an awful lot to my local charity shop (then often see things I’ve donated whilst browsing and think ooh I like that!!). I’ve registered to gift aid on my donations and every year I get a letter confirming what it’s raised. It gives me such a happy feeling!

KrankyKumquat · 06/10/2024 12:02

In other news, I'm eating dried prunes and have taken magnesium tabs for the first time since I started all this and, as far as I can remember, in my life. Half a pound on this morning and feels more like half a stone. Glad it's a wet Sunday as not planning on leaving the house!

AgathaMystery · 06/10/2024 13:22

Just catching up - @Slimstar13 huge congrats. What an achievement. I actually cannot imagine the sheer effort it has taken. Well done you xxx

Femeia · 06/10/2024 14:53

I'm still finding 15mg not amazing, I must say. Maybe some suppression for a couple of days but then I have the ability to eat anything and everything. My losses are really small, even though I'm not going over 1000 calories a day. My Renpho scales show that my BMR is 1400 calories which seems low to me (thinking of the usual 2000 calorie recommendation for women) especially as I'm 5'9", so I guess it's just going to take me that much longer to get enough calorie deficit.

It does worry me for the future after MJ though, 1400 calories isn't huge.

Stickthatupyourdojo · 06/10/2024 17:26

Hey fellow losers. I'm perilously close to losing my wine glass holder when doom scrolling in front of the football Grin

@Femeia I think it's normal that the weight loss slows as you get near goal weight. I am finding the same.f you are on 15mg you must have been on MJ for 6 or more months.

Your BMR is the calories that you burn in a day just by existing. If you burn 500 calories more by walking, working out, working, cleaning, cooking etc. then your calorie requirements for the day are 1,900 which is close to the sweeping generalisation of 2,000 calories that you quoted. My BMR is only 1,333 at 5' 5".

So if you stay active, once on maintenance you can eat more than 1,400 per day and stay the same weight. My Apple Watch says I burn on average around 429 calories being active per day. So I could eat about 1,800 calories a day on maintenance. I am now trying to build more muscle to get my BMR higher.

I think 1,800 is doable for me. I can eat 1,200 a day for 5 days and then have two treat days of just over 3,000 for socialising etc and over the week that is the right level of calories to maintain. But it needs planning and focus and (the hard bit) willpower.

I'd stick with it! How many weeks, and what were your losses the two weeks before that? You might just be evening out. Have you been more active/less active/eating more carbs/less protein? Is there anything you can identify as possible cause of a slow down?

I am on week 32. I last lost weight in late August. I moved to 15mg three weeks ago and have put weight on since then (now 4 pounds up on my lowest weight).

No change to activity levels. I am definitely eating more carbs but that's because I feel like eating them whilst I didn't before on MJ.

I have resisted calorie counting or dieting in any way while on MJ as it has just been such a relief to have a break from thinking about food after decades, but I obviously need to start to focus.

Thebaldprimadonna · 06/10/2024 20:43

ihatecoffee · 05/10/2024 23:37

I'm the same. I'm on 12.5mgs and haven't lost anything for absolutely weeks!

Not changed my eating habits and eating barely enough to keep a bird alive!

Friends are saying I've lost sooooo much weight but I've only lost two stone since March!!

Still got a stone/stone and a half to go 🤦🏼‍♀️

It's frustrating isn't it? I have regularly needed to take my MJ a little more frequently (typically on day five or six) but I simply cannot afford to do that on the higher doses.

Moanranger · 06/10/2024 20:44

@Choux I agree with your analysis. When I do reach maintenance then my default will b 1200 kcal, with some wiggle room for eating out etc on weekends. I think I can live with that.

So I have been hassled by the online pharmacy, claiming reduced prices for MJ. I had to actually get myself approved for MJ before I could see these prices ( that wasnt too difficult, usual fat picture and ID) The price for 7.5 was £199, and no sign of a reduction. I will give it a miss.

I am 300g from my first goal - close but not yet there. ( I was away a couple of days last week) Hopefully soon.

I start taking 7.5 on Thursday, so wont need to decide what to order and which pharmacy for a few weeks. (I do not stockpile) After I hit my interim goal, I intend to lose 11 more lbs. If I can get to within 5lbs, I will likely switch to Oushk, but no idea how long that will take - a month? two? Will see

NextPrimeMinister · 06/10/2024 09:16

@Thebaldprimadonna I'd stick at it. I've just looked at my loss history and saw I had 4 weeks where I only lost a pound.

It's really frustrating, especially as it makes it a very expensive pound to lose 😑!

I've noticed wl is getting much slower as I near normal BMI.

Thanks, No Longer MJ Twin. I'll talk to Med Express tomorrow as well and see what they recommend.

Just having a nosey on the Oushk FB page and noticed you can pick your courier, DPD or Royal Mail.

Interesting fun fact.

Moanranger · 07/10/2024 08:56

I started 1April and it is now 7 Oct, and I have made it! From 85.3 kg to 70.8, nearly 15kg, 32lbs lost in 6months &1 week. I am at 27 BMI
A new goal will now be set -66kg, which is 11 more lbs. I will post before & after pictures at some point.
I hope everyone has a good week😊

Thanks @Thebaldprimadonna . This group has been invaluable, such a great source of information and support. Special thanks to @ObsidianTree for keeping the ball rolling.

I would say my main side effects - besides the very welcome appetite suppression- has been some fatigue and a minor amount of constipation. That is really it!
I am also grateful to my gym - Core Results in Chichester for on-going support in my fitness journey. That has helped a lot and kept me focused on health.

Like many others, MJ has had a huge impact. I am someone who is disciplined, good at setting goals and sticking with a routine, but I have never been able to crack the weight loss conundrum. Couldn't stick to the calorie regime I needed to lose weight. I just hope this message starts to get across.
I hope everyone is doing well - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

KrankyKumquat · 07/10/2024 19:40

@NextPrimeMinister
They've also started RM next day delivery. Or you can choose your delivery date.

After my first experience of being 'bunged up' for 2 days, I took some out of date dulcolax. It was either that or the prunes which did the trick. I'm very relieved as I was fearing I might end up doing an 'Elvis'.

FlappyFish · 07/10/2024 22:15

So… I’ve done something.

Let’s talk boobs. I have two deflated sacks and rippling and an odd slope where I have lost all volume up top.

In 10 days I have a consultation about a lift and implants.

They are manageable in a bra. But even then they’ve lost all shape. I’m honestly wearing a Marks first bra crop top in a 10.

It may be too soon. For the rest of my skin I know I can do a lot with building muscle tone. But nothing but surgery can help the boobs.

Femeia · 07/10/2024 23:53

Ooh that's brave @FlappyFish! I fear lack of boobs will never be my issue but they could definitely do with a lift. For me I would want all the saggy skin round my tummy magically removed but I'm too much of a wuss.
It's funny how even when we have lost weight we're not satisfied! I would have thought that hitting a healthy BMI would have done the trick but I still have a bulgy belly and plenty of flab on my ribs so I need to keep going, even if that makes me even more saggy. What a conundrum.

Smallsalt · 08/10/2024 08:20

@FlappyFish Weightloss is weird isn't it. I am bumless and hipless. I am short in the body with long legs, only about 2ins from hip bone to ribs, so don't have much waist at the best of times.
Now that I have no hips to go with no waist, I am a very odd straight up and down shape.
My boobs prevail however. They are defo smaller, DD to C and many band sizes lower. But still much bigger than my previous weight loss adventures.
I am not a boob fan, I prefer when they are dinky as it looks better on my short body! But no, they are bloody refusing to deflate!

KeepingUndercover · 08/10/2024 08:26

I think sometimes we do have to be a bit realistic about how much weight loss can do by itself. Some body shaping has to be done with toning and exercise. It's just not going to diet away. And some times you are just going to always have a little tummy or something. Because that's bodies.

When you see really ripped bodies they are usually the result of some excessive shredding and dehydration ahead of one photo shoot. And the next day that person no longer looks like that. Plus we all know the Photoshop affect.

I think it's really tempting to always chase that last half stone that will definitely make the difference. But is it really going to make the difference? I don't know, just my rambling thoughts.

pinktransit · 08/10/2024 10:11

I'm don't want to think about boobs. I need to measure my shrunken bits of chest skin again. I measured a few weeks back, band size has gone down but despite loss of boob volume, my cup size is still huge. So while I am rattling around a bit in a 32G, according to boob and bust, my new measurement is a 30GG. Think Vinted will be my friend for new bras.

On other subjects, I'm up a pound or so this week, but I have eaten out on Thurs, Fri, Sun, and fish and chip takeaway yesterday. A lovely weekend of being thoroughly looked after by my wonderful DP as I went back home for a few days. Now back with Mum for the next 3 weeks. Dad's funeral is on the 24th Oct, and I'm hoping that my sister will then stay with Mum for a bit. Then we can gradually move on from having someone with her full time to me staying perhaps one week a month.

I also have managed to lose my jab schedule for the past couple of weeks. I forgot to jab on my usual Thursday the other week, but remembered on Friday. Then last week I meant to get back to Thursday jab, not only forgot, but didn't take my pen with me back home. So I didn't jab until Monday evening. If I'd needed to, I did have an unopened pen at home, but really don't want two open ones at the same time. So I ate out (with fairly sensible choices), enjoyed food, wine and beer for the weekend. Think I'll leave it till Friday to jab again, and the the next week get back to a Thursday.

And finally, a couple of NSVs. I went out on the back of DPs motorbike on Sunday. I got on, and he said that he definitely felt the difference in weight from the last time I rode with him! And my lovely, very expensive Kevlar jeans that he bought me for Christmas are now ridiculously huge. A belt was required.

KrankyKumquat · 08/10/2024 11:03

@pinktransit
Glad to hear you've been able to enjoy yourself this last week. A lb or two up sounds like a very good result, especially as your jabs have been all over the shop.
On the subject of boobs, my measurements haven't changed much at all but their appearance is reminding me of the gel bags my pharmacy use.

CiderJabs · 08/10/2024 11:55

I feel your lack of boob pain @FlappyFish. If only I could move fat from my arse into my boobs I would have a perfect body 🤣

Dp and I had a good chat about long term maintenance and how long we plan to take 2.5 for, bearing in mind we get married next summer so we can't afford to put any weight on. So we decided we will stick to 2.5 until April (when the 7.5 pens expire) and go 'cold turkey' after that in the hope that our upcoming nuptials stop us from regaining the weight.
So I bought one more pen (we are sharing 7.5s so as we use them for a shorter period) and we are now both covered for 6 months.

I don't know if we are being sensible or scared over nothing but at least we agreed on it so it was a joint decision.

I've now been on 2.5 for about 5 weeks and I'm now at 9st 11- 9st 13 which I'm happy with. I would love to stabilise at 9st 7 so I'll continue to monitor it and see what happens.
