@Wonkypictureframe
Ah I see. I'm hopeless at clothing in general so I'm gonna leave the advice giving for others - I'm sure someone will be able to help.
The first time I went out with the intention of getting something special, I came home with a new purse so I hear you xx

Wonkypictureframe · 28/09/2024 10:07

I really appreciated the suggestion! I’m just not in love with M&S in general. Like most of us I suspect my shopping time is very limited and I don’t have a huge choice of shops (M&S is one of them) so part of the struggle is just where to look when you have so little idea what fits you and what styles you can wear.

Morning,

Happy Saturday everyone.

I've lost 3lbs this week! 11st 11lbs! Surprised! Especially after I kept bitching about how useless the 15mg is 🤣 still don't think it's been great for suppression, but must be doing something!

Thought I would add my stats. Look how green and amber that all is! BMI officially 25 on the dot.

Also thought I would show my body age. Currently I am 42 and it's showing as 43. It started as 48 in March of the year. It's gone down by a year each month since June. So hopefully in October I should hit my real age!

Great stats @ObsidianTree ! Your body fat, at 29%, is crazy good.
I dropped a year with these last 3lbs. I'm now just 1 year off too, but with a birthday next month, that should do it😂

KeepingUndercover · 28/09/2024 10:26

I have been assessing my body regularly for signs of loose skin or weirdness. I'm a bit worried about my upper arms. I can't decide if I'm getting loose skin or if it's just fat bingo wings. I'm doing some more strength based exercise to try and help with toning in the hope it is just fat!

@Wonkypictureframe do you know what kind of look you want? Maybe rope some friends into vetting your Vinted options if you're finding it hard to commit?

KrankyKumquat · 28/09/2024 10:41

@Wonkypictureframe and others...
I've just been googling rice pudding thighs. Apparently, the phenomenon is actually called cottage cheese thighs (who knew...). It's cellulite, gets more pronounced when you lose weight, getting rid is hard to impossible 🙄

Wonkypictureframe · 28/09/2024 11:30

Isn’t that the outside of the thighs? Mine is just sagginess on the inside. So attractive!

@KrankyKumquat I went shopping yesterday and managed to buy a bag!

I’ve got jeans and I live in jeans and t shirt and jumper most of the time, and have enough of those now that look OK for every day. But for going out I want something that I feel fab in and I just don’t even know what that is! I don’t think M&S will be it - I don’t really find their clothes very inspiring for me. But I can’t afford anything much more interesting. I look at Vinted often but the choice overwhelms me and I fail to commit.

@Wonkypictureframe can you post a pic or f yourself and your height and dress size? I can def find you something on vinted! I’m currently wearing a dress I got on there that I first purchased in 2010, brand new, returned to store as I looked ghastly in it, and now, 14yrs on, I’m wearing it, it looks good and cost me £4.50 instead of £49. BONUS.

CherryCinnamon · 28/09/2024 14:45

I'm wondering what to do. I have built up a stash of 10mg pens ( the one I got yesterday has an expiry of Nov 25, if anyone is interested in expiry dates). I don't plan on ordering any more. Unbelievably, I'm now BMI of around 22, having lost nearly 40 pounds. I would still like to lose about 7pounds- hopefully all from my belly where it stubbornly remains! It's hard to find info on maintaining. I want to start to do it using the pens I have until they are all finished which will take me to around February.
My main question is- is it safe to still take 10mgs for a while or do I need to start reducing the dose because my BMI is now lower?
Any advice much appreciated!

I’d rather not post photos - I’m a bit attached to my cloak of anonymity. But it’s not that I can’t find anything. I can find too much! And then I grind to a halt as there’s so much choice. For this event it’s also that my friend is always so effortlessly cool and I end up feeling too try hard/older than I am, and I can’t work out how to translate that right now. I’m going to go to Primark this evening and just try to get an idea of what sort of thing someone my age might wear that is not frumpy or workwear.

Moanranger · 28/09/2024 15:42

@KrankyKumquat try Zara, similar pricing to M& S and much more stylish

AgathaMystery · 28/09/2024 18:10

@Wonkypictureframe i understand - I’m currently living in this dress in 3 diff colours with Dr Marten Leonore fur lined Chelsea boots. I am 157cm and a size 12ish now. I thought it would look awful as my waist is my smallest part but it looks… great?!

Thanks for the well wishes, lunch went well. Friend could not believe my weightloss and it was exacerbated by wearing high waisted wide leg jeans and jumper TUCKED IN.

She asked me for all my tips, but I could not come clean, mainly due to the fact she refused to get a covid jab. I just said, calorie counting, no snacks etc.

KrankyKumquat · 28/09/2024 19:11

@NextPrimeMinister
That's so funny. Me and my OH were discussing only today why I hadn't told one particular friend I'm on MJ (she's very like me so would probably benefit for weight loss plus various hormonal/metabolic/ psychological issues). My reason was she wouldn't even have a covid jab (and has subsequently acquired all sorts of woo hoo beliefs about Bill Gates, big pharma, etc).
Well done on the 'tucking in'!

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 28/09/2024 19:34

Evening All
82.1kg this morning - can't believe sub 80kg is in sight! BMI still above 29 so I'm not exactly waif like but the size 14 matalan trousers I bought a few weeks ago are a very comfy fit now.
I am struggling with this wide leg trouser fashion - bought a pair of new look wide leg but they were linen blend so hang really well. Tried Next wide leg cords in a 14 and they fit fine but looked awful. All the gorgeous jersey wrap dresses I used to love feel frumpy looking in my eyes now, I think I need to invest some time in trying stuff on to see what works for the saggy ageing smaller me.

guestusername · 28/09/2024 19:52

Evening folks. My WI pissed me off this morning so I’m not bloody counting it! I’ve been off colour for the last few days and to top it all off, this morning, I was sick. I hate throwing up. It best not be MJ related!

I watched the Skinny Jab doc the other day. Usual heap of shite that is completely skewed only one way. I did spot that they did use an MN post on it though when they briefly talked about weight piling back on when one stops taking injections. It looked like it was one of the usual fat phobic threads on AIBU and all I could think at the time was how smug the poster would have been to be quoted on TV, thus being proved right because ITV said so 🤣

Wonkypictureframe · 28/09/2024 20:39

Just to say Primark has delivered. For less than the price of a single dress from Hobbs I got two pairs of trousers, a skirt, and several tops.

spamm · 28/09/2024 21:19

@CherryCinnamon - I am not at maintenance yet, but my understanding is that you should trial various strengths and decide what suits you. Some people microdose - like 2.5mg a couple of times a week, some people spread out the larger doses and take them every 2 weeks or so. It seems to vary depending on each experience. However, I would venture that if your intent is to come off MJ at some point, and I know you may not have much choice unless you try to join a maintenance plan like Ousk, then gradually titrating down over time seems to make sense. I think trying to stay on MJ for longer helps your body learn to be comfortable at a new set weight, and you learn the right behaviors to stay around that weight. But I have no medical experience- that is just based on what I have read, and may be wrong.

For now, I plan to stay on it, but I started it to address my diabetes, and while my blood sugar is now amazing, I am still diabetic and have been for 15 years. Just a reminder that I am in the US and it is prescribed by my doctor.

Today I hit 50lbs loss - so exciting. I have 7lbs to my next target, which would put me at a bmi just under 25. I don't think I have been this weight since I was a teenager.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 29/09/2024 07:45

Congratulations @spamm ! I'm your twin - I've also just hit 50lb loss! What a nice round number to hit.
I haven't done mounjaro this week yet. Had a few (lots and lots) of drinks on Friday - first time drinking since I started on mounjaro almost 6 months ago! So am delaying jab day by a couple of days because I can't cope with nausea side effects on top of a hangover.
It's payday tomorrow so I'm going to try and switch to oshuk (know I've spelled that wrong) because I'm worried about Asda not supporting maintenance.
I also think I'm going to split dose more often as I'm on my 3rd or 4th 10mg pen and I can still barely eat first couple of days after jab day, and the nausea is still so horrible for two days. Does anyone else do that?

CherryCinnamon · 29/09/2024 09:11

Thank you, Spamm- and well done! It is an amazing feeling when you're near your target. I feel so much better physically and it's great being able to wear clothes I've not been able to get into for years. The injections do make me very tired though, I'm hoping my energy levels will pick up when I start reducing my dose.
I don't think the bmi thing is a true reflection of my body, I have a lot of very obvious fat around my middle and very skinny legs..😂 I just wonder if I can continue to take the 10mgs for another couple of months even though my bmi is lower now at 22ish...

guestusername · 29/09/2024 09:39

Morning! I’ve weighed officially today instead of yesterday and I’m another 1.5 down. Frustratingly, I’m still half a pound off 3 stone 😤

SW 14.12
CW 11.12.5
TW 11.5 to take me to healthy BMI

I’m away this week for a few days and the pen is coming with. So are the scales 😂

FlappyFish · 29/09/2024 10:35

You could lose half a pound by having a wee. ;) @guestusername

But then I’m firmly in the only weigh naked, first thing, after morning ablutions.

@AgathaMystery One thing I’ve really discovered with clothes (having never been thin!) is that pretty much everything looks good when you’re slim, some is more flattering. I don’t mind wearing oversized hoodies now as I don’t feel I’m trying to hide in them. I need to address my Vinted addiction. Still spending less than I would on MJ. But I literally have an entire wardrobe to rebuy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

AgathaMystery · 29/09/2024 11:29

@FlappyFish good point!!

Right, I’ve just had a chat with my prescriber (I use him for my Botox prescriptions). It was really reassuring and he is absolutely realistic about people using MJ for maintaining and titrating their own doses without recommending or advocating it himself. I appreciate he can’t do that!!

We spoke about pricing as I’ve got a 12.5mg pen in an online basket with e surgery for £175. He thinks he can get close to that price but possibly not match it. I’m not too worried about this as I know my options are closing down as I’m now on a BMI of 29.

He’s going to come back to me with a price but he is absolutely clear that he does not and will not charge monthly membership like Oushk do. So I think I will actually be better off financially if I use him long term.

Anyway, will let you all know the prices when I get them. He is using MJ too so we had a really interesting discussion about it. Happy to PM his number to anyone once I’ve got some prices.

guestusername · 29/09/2024 12:24

@FlappyFish that was post first wee of the morning weigh! It will happen when it happens I guess…better be tomorrow 😆

ThirdStorm · 29/09/2024 12:32

I’m glad I’m not the only one with a Vinted addiction. To think I’d never used it just 2 months ago. I’m on first name terms with my Evri driver!

BlackFriYay · 30/09/2024 09:46

This is so true. I'm now wearing things I could never pull off pre MJ. It's such a lovely feeling isn't it? I've rediscovered a love obsession for fashion and I too have been raiding Vinted like a woman possessed 😂
