Hello! I hope you don't mind me asking here as I am not yet on MJ but have decided to take it. I wanted to ask people already taking it how useful they found using a service with a coach eg. Voy or Juniper? Or whether it didn't make much of a difference? I was going to go with Juniper but have seen Medexpress prices are so much cheaper but they don't offer any coaching etc. Any feedback would be gratefully received. Thank you x

I haven't used any of those companies to compare, but maybe Oushk might be a good option. Think the prices are cheaper, the owner is very responsive and they have their own Facebook page where you can ask any questions and the page is monitored by the owner and staff who answer questions too.

How do you specify it's for maintenance?

You need to have done your consultation first, and have your account set up. Then when you order (and use your discount code) it recognises who you are and the plan you'd agreed with Hira.

Ah cool thanks. I've ordered a pen from there so I am on their books. When I'm ready I'll book a consultation for maintenance.

I love seeing more names I know coming back on this thread. And just because I didn’t say hi, hello @Choux

@doodlydooo the coaching side from places like Juniper and Voy. I didn’t use them. These threads became my coaching. I think it very much depends on your reasons for being overweight. Most of us probably feel we have tried all diets and lost and gained.

I don’t know the qualifications of those they have doing coaching, but I absolutely agree the psychological side of this is more than half the battle. I have shared throughout the main threads on what a total head screw this is as I call it. Mainly because I didn’t want to say head fuck. 😂

I truly feel I know some of the women on this thread now as we’ve been posting for months. From the trepidation of should I order? Will this work? To oh my word I lost four pounds. I can’t eat. I can’t poop. I need to sleep more. Is this normal? I’m so cold. Anyone else.

Whatever you decide, keep posting. I wouldn’t have done this without my tribe here. We have done it together.

doodlydooo · 25/09/2024 14:13

Thank you @ObsidianTree and @FlappyFish
That's really helpful. All the best to you both on your journeys, sounds like you've done really well x

Is that on the uk Reddit I can't see it.

I've just reordered with MedExpress yesterday, been with them from the start in April. Prescription approved pretty much immediately and it's out for delivery. So doesn't look like they've asked my go for anything

Here's the post re medical records and Medexpress

Fab thanks Smile

Moanranger · 25/09/2024 16:45

@KrankyKumquat - I am a little sceptical. I just changed to Med Express and was asked nothing like this. I had to send the fat photo, copy of ID and copy of prescription ( MJ box) Easier than when I first registered with Health Express. I was approved within minutes.

MassiveSaladDodger · 25/09/2024 16:53

Thanks @BlackFriYay and @pinktransit might get some new photos lined up to have them ready just in case, Med Express seem a bit all over the place with what they ask for these days.

I may also have a think about switching providers as one of the reasons I stuck with them was avoiding the faff of sending photos etc and am a bit concerned about them asking for medical records now. No idea what my GP would say, it’s a small rural practice with just the one doctor, I’ve only seen him once briefly when I had shingles (got the antivirals and went on my way) and pretty sure they don’t have any current information on my weight/BMI.

Choux · 25/09/2024 18:28

Delivery woes! Today I was expecting two parcels - a 10mg pen from the Family Chemist via Royal Mail and a Vinted parcel via Evri. It's my first Family Chemist order and my BMI is only about 26 so had no idea how long it would take to process and send.

I had to go to work today but I live in a flat in a building with a caretaker. Royal Mail often don't bother ringing my doorbell even when I am in. They give all the parcels to the caretaker and then you go and collect them when you are back. It usually works just fine - they have got all my previous MJ parcels and I got them from the office.

Today Royal Mail attempted delivery but couldn't as i wasn't home. They haven't left it with the caretaker but are going to try again tomorrow. I don't know if they really attempted delivery or are just saying that. Or maybe the caretaker was out of the office at the time they delivered it or are the Family Chemist the first supplier who needs my signature?

I can't be home tomorrow either so potentially it will be another failed delivery tomorrow and I won't get it till Friday. I don't want to use this pen till December because I have pens which are going to expire in Oct and Nov. Going to check if I can change it to collect from post office so I am guaranteed to be able to get it tomorrow.

Choux · 25/09/2024 18:44

Oh my god - the Family Chemist website says they send it needing a signature! If anyone has ordered from them do they enforce that?

www.thefamilychemist.co.uk/delivery/

So now I have to either work from home tomorrow (which is tricky as I'll need a reason) or I'll probably get a warm pen which I don't need to use yet.

ObsidianTree · 25/09/2024 19:16

@Choux it's probably best you come up with an excuse to wfh. They probably will want a signature etc. Might be why they didn't leave today's attempt with the care taker.

OP posts:
Choux · 25/09/2024 19:46

Yes I just read on another thread that Cloud pharmacy say their packaging is designed to keep it cold for 48 hours and I think it left the supplier at 6.30 pm last night so in theory if I stay home and get it tomorrow it should still be saveable till December.

The attempted delivery today was at 10am. So I might be able to go to the office late morning. If I don't go to the office tomorrow I'll have to go Friday and I really don't want to.

I could say I needed to wait in for a parcel that I needed to sign for but what could it be? Ideally something that couldn't wait till Friday when I will be working from home. Or I could say the caretaker is off on emergency leave and I need the parcel for when my friends visit Friday night. But what is in the parcel that I need to stay home Thursday morning instead of letting them deliver it on Friday???

Choux · 25/09/2024 20:25

Apologies for hijacking the thread tonight. In more exciting news my new Renpho scales have arrived and I've got my starting stats. I'm nearly 55 so work to do on getting my fat down and muscle up so my metabolic age goes down. Anyone got any idea how quickly I should aim to knock a year off?

could you not say that you have a migraine and you will be in as soon as it’s eased off?

KrankyKumquat · 25/09/2024 20:57

@Choux

😅They're a great new hobby! My age has come down 3 years with 3st loss so I'm assuming a year per stone but may not be that simple. I'm still 2 yrs too old (60 - how very dare they)and now at healthy bmi, just, so I'm hoping the last stone will be worth more than a year! My OH is 2 yrs under his real age which is really annoying.

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 26/09/2024 08:36

Morning All

Just doing a little dance - I'm in the 12's (just)! 16kg loss since starting MJ, 22kg lighter than my heaviest last year. I can get into the smallest size 16s now, and my weightloss motivation trousers that I bought from a local posh shop last year (and couldn't do up by a long way) are now starting to be a bit baggy. I've bought a couple of size 14 trousers in the Matalan and New Look sales to tide me over but I am probably going to have to spend some money on new clothes soon.

Having hypertension means I qualify for MJ with BMI 27 so still have a way to go (currently BMI 29.8), will start to think about maintenance once I get a bit closer.

ObsidianTree · 26/09/2024 09:22

Well done @Everdecreasingcircumferences ☺️

Great about the clothes. Mine are a bit of a miss match at the moment. Fit 14s comfortably and some 12s are fitting! Oddly I just bought some next size 14 and a 12, yet I have some next 16s I bought years ago that fit the same as the 14s! No idea if next have made their 14s and 12s bigger. Maybe! I need to get them all out and compare the waist sizes!

Hello all, sorry I've been useless I haven't been on here for about 2 weeks so I will catch up tonight and apologise in advance if what I'm about to say was already discussed at length 10 days ago Blush

For my fellow maintenance ladies who are worried about moving prescribers or being completely cut off with a lower BMI I took the advice of contacting Oushk. I booked a £5 consultation with Hira where I explained my goals (basically want to loose 3 more pounds then not go cold turkey) and that medexpress have completely cut me off due to now being under 23.5 (I did contact medexpress to confirm if that was the case before contacting Oushk, and they confirmed they wouldn't prescribe me anymore). Long story short I've joined the taper maintenance plan, I ordered last night, cheaper than medexpress as they give you 15% off plus free P&P, you can schedule when you want it delivered and they won't cut you off after 2 years either. You can move up or down strengths. I had to send a photo and proof I'm already on MJ. It was approved this morning. Hope that helps someone who is worried like I was.

Edited

I leapt out of bed and onto the scale this morning as I knew a morning weight would be lower than 8pm last night. And it was.

I have lost about 6 metabolic years on my old scales (which didn't have an app) but I think as well as weight it looks at muscle and fat levels so I need to get more muscle which we lose as we age to get younger. I am up for the challenge!

Currently working from home waiting for my pen delivery. Told my mgr one of my friends sent me a parcel requiring signature but will be in later. Assuming it arrives this morning like Royal Mail are saying.

Ooh! Now I feel like I need renpho scales!

Although mine are similar!

My scales show me as a year older than my real age. So getting closer! Not sure how quickly it goes down tho. I would need to go analyse the date 🤓

Got my pen. Kept refreshing the Royal Mail tracking from 10am as that was yesterday's delivery time and it came up at 10.17 as attempted delivery again. No one had rung my bell. So I rushed downstairs and found the postman still in the courtyard as it's a big site. He said he rang my doorbell so perhaps it doesn't work - need to check that. He can't leave it with the caretaker as it needs signing for so this might be a reason not to order from Family Chemist again unless I can time delivery or say I will collect from a local post office that's open later.

Anyway the ice pack was melted but still slightly cool to the touch. The pen felt room temperature to me but maybe I got away with it. It's a 10mg pen with expiry of 11/25 so Long dated. Will see how strong I think it is when I start using it.

The postman asked me if it was fish or something and caught me unawares so I told him it was medication.

Choux · 26/09/2024 10:42

I am currently 8 days since an injection! I took 10 last Weds after dropping back from 15 which was too much for me after a few weeks. But I have friends coming to stay this weekend and there will be a birthday cake and there is an afternoon tea booked one day. So I didn't want them to notice me not eating and couldn't work out how much to take. I am still eating way less than when they previously saw me so, rather than risk them questioning my 35lb weight loss and inability to eat am going Mounjaro-less till Sunday.

As soon as they leave I will be injecting! But it will be good to see what happens when faced with cakes and carbs and not as much appetite suppression

ObsidianTree · 26/09/2024 11:35

@Choux great that you have it. Hopefully it is still cool enough.

Expiry Nov 25? That's ages! It's definitely not Nov 24?

If it's Nov 25, that's mad that the lower dose pens have ages and the higher dose pens are always short dated. The new batch of 15mg is Feb 25. Considering they must be new stock, it's strange the the new 10mg is over a year until expiry. I wonder if the higher doses just don't last as long as the lower doses. Wonder why!

@ObsidianTree @Everdecreasingcircumferences re clothes, I haven't bought much yet, still wearing older clothes (baggy) and some smaller relics from my wardrobe. My DP returned from a trip with a v nice top for me, but size 8! I normally cannot fit an 8 at all, too tight in shoulder/arms. This one fits there, but a bit snug (and not flattering) across the midriff. I am hopeful that with a final push of minus 10lbs it will fit better. That is where my residual weight sits. It's a nice top!
Following others transition to maintenance with interest. I will probably switch to Ooush (sp?) at some point, nearer final goal.
