@Slimstar13 When I say 'pointless' what I mean is that just by eating protein won't stop muscle wastage - eating 100g of protein a day - it doesn't turn into muscle without some exercise like resistance or strength training. But also, eating too much protein without exercising can actually make you gain weight so you have to look at your overall lifestyle and goals. It will help you feel full for longer though (apparently, that's never worked for me!).

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 08/09/2024 13:12

I was planning to do some exercise today but my second jab of 7.5 has made me feel awful, tired and nauseous. I have some weights I was going to have a go with but I don't think it's going to happen today. I did manage to eat a bagel for lunch with salmon and cream cheese but it felt huge and I struggled to finish it. I used to consider something like that a snack before😂

So sorry to hear it, Bella. @Pinkyp22 and I are both suffering from our first 7.5mgs at the moment. I’ve just had a packet of king prawns (great for the protein, @GoodLuckBabe ) and that’s it, that’s lunch. I would never have thought I could feel that 180g of food was a bit too much…!

@MaiAamWaliHun sorry if you already know, but if you have a runny tummy Imodium will put you right. I was up four times in the night thinking it would never stop. Two tablets once Tesco opened (thank God for Sunday opening!) and I’m right as rain. Amazing stuff.

SnacklessWonder · 08/09/2024 17:24

Okay, help. I have just syringed out the last of my 2.5mg pen and there is '80' is that 0.8ml and what does that equate too? Maths is not my strong point 😂

SnacklessWonder · 08/09/2024 17:27

So I've just searched on here and apparently thats about 3.33mg. Shall I just do that for a week and then move up to the 5mg next Sunday? I've not really lost any weight this week but suppression is okay (hungrier and more tempted today but that's because my last dose was this time last week)

Happycyclist · 08/09/2024 17:33

@SnacklessWonder I would expect that to be 0.8ml and equivalent to 3.33mg.
Hope that helps.

OOps I was too slow

Doobi · 08/09/2024 17:37

I've just come back from looking at a wedding venue this afternoon. We aren't engaged yet but I think we will skip that step and just book something one day.

Although nothing is set in stone, it gives me something more to work/focus on.

We stopped off at a pub and shared a combo starter.. I only had slice of garlic bread, small handful of chips, two chicken nuggets, two small chicken strips and 1 onion ring.

I felt a bit hungry against since I've been home so I've had a pack of chicken tikka slices.

Might have protein shake later and something light.

I want to try stop eating after 7/8pm as it doesn't make me feel great going to bed on a stomach full.

After a shower this morning, I tried on a Chanel tester perfume and to my surprise I really like it.. but of course it's expensive. I think I'm going to use this as another incentive and put away £10 for each 7lb I lose and when I have enough I can treat myself.

SnacklessWonder · 08/09/2024 17:40

Thanks @Happycyclist I've done it, I was terrified and let out a little squeal - the syringe was scary for some reason but I did it. Decided to stick for another week and next Sunday I'll go up to the 5mg.

Happycyclist · 08/09/2024 18:05

@SnacklessWonder Don't blame you for the little squeal, I found it somewhat disturbing using a syringe.
I also felt that the jump to 5mg was too much for me and instead did a month or so on 3.75mg before moving to 5mg.
all the very best.

I'll try 5mg but if it's too much I guess I can just drop back down again. I've not had any symptoms at all on 2.5mg other than peeing a lot (about 24 hours after), feeling a bit tired (48-72 hours later) and feeling sick when I eat poached eggs 😅

Admiring myself in a full length mirror today 😂 (looking at myself naked is something I’ve avoided for a while), I noticed the injection sites on my belly have left marks. Like pigmentation. Anyone else have this?

I have that too from the ones since I started getting a red and itchy reaction to them. It started from about my 5th injection. It reacts from day 2 and stops by about day 5 after a jab.

I'm finding that regularly applied Anthisan antihistamine cream is better than hydrocortisone or Eurax to control the itching and keep the reaction severity low. Hopefully the pigmentation will be less noticeable as I control the itchy reaction better.

Choux · 08/09/2024 19:27

@EricCatman I can see where my last three or four injections were but they are fading slowly I think. The most recent injection site is red and a bit itchy - the mark is about 3 inches by 1 inch so the drug must have spread after being injected.

I had not noticed this but I think you are right. It's like a teeny tiny pigmented dot.

Mine is not teeny tiny, it’s more a 1cm2 patch.

Glittermoonlight · 08/09/2024 19:45

Is any one still on this thread that started MJ when it came out in February? I’ve read lots of the threads but it’s hard following individual progress amongst so many posts.
I was wondering those who started 6 months ago would you mind telling me your SW & CW? I would be so so interested.
I’ve only just started week 3!

JuvenileBigfoot · 08/09/2024 20:13

Hi, can I hop on to the thread? I'm about to do my first injection and I'm super nervous!!

@Glittermoonlight There is a thread where mumsnetters who started in February put their progress. Many are now maintaining. Their weight losses are impressive and inspiring.

Yes, mine are about 2cm x 3cm.

I was just thinking about the pen I was sent.

It said expiry September 2024.

Is that the beginning of end of 2024?

I've not felt that much suppression to be honest on the 2.5mg dose. Thought it might just be because I'm bigger and would need more.

Could the expiry date affect the effectiveness?

I got the usual slip of paper stating it's safe to go 6 months past expiry date that's on the pen..

I know at work we dispose of all medications and insulins past their expiry date.

What makes this different?

Hi All

Have been away from this thread for a while as I stalled all of August and the gained a bit at the end of the month which I have now lost again. A 1.3kg whoosh this morning has me back on track at just under 85kg.

Glittermoonlight - I started in February 2024, have lost 14kg since then so about 1lb per week - BMI down from 35 to just over 30. I am delighted with the loss, but obviously compared with most of the others who started at the same time I am a very slow loser.

I'm another with ADHD, just started titrating meds after an 8 month wait since diagnosis. Dopamine seeking has definitely been a big part of my overeating all these years. My blood pressure is up (was up before I started titration) so I don't think they'll let me continue on them - annoying when doctors have told me all these years the losing weight will improve my blood pressure!m yet it seems to have had the opposite effect!

How did it go? Well I hope.😊

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/09/2024 22:48

@Choux @Swissrollover @EricCatman reading about your reactions at injection sites. I may have said this before but there are more reactions caused by alcohol swabs than by most injections. A lot of people think you need to swab the skin but it is really not needed for subcut use so, if you are swabbing the skin I'd suggest stopping and see if it improves

Can I please ask anyone who gets side effects, is there usually a specific time after injection they hit? I haven't had any adverse effects so far other than a vague nausea here and there without a pattern.
I am about to go up to 10mg and planned to move my injection day forward from Wed to Mon so will be injecting after 5 days rather than 7 but have a busy week coming up with motorway journeys of about 1hr each way on Wed and Thurs. Does that sound risky? In my head Monday sounded less risky than Tuesday but I just don't know

Choux · 08/09/2024 22:56

I don't swab my skin only the red seal on the pen. I am on 15mg now and probably started noticing the red itchy skin on around 10mg doses. It usually comes up the day after the injection and then is itchy for a couple of days before starting to fade and get darker. By about 2 weeks no one else would notice it but I can pick out two injection sites in each thigh at the moment.

Choux · 08/09/2024 23:02

@QueenOfHiraeth I wouldn't both go up a dose AND bring my injection forward. If you are concerned you will get side effects do it on Thursday night instead this week and then go back to Weds next week.
