I'm pretty much wearing the same clothes so far too at almost 3 stone loss.
I find it amazing how much I can lose but not see too much of a difference yet as well. Just small changes so far.
I think if I was doing this with willpower alone I'd give up as I'd feel like I was wasting my time not seeing any big changes yet.
But I keep remembering the kitchen roll analogy and know it'll show more quickly, the more I lose.

Lastchancefatty · 08/09/2024 10:48

As we are needing to drink so much I'd really appreciate some recommendations for drink bottles. Pref without a straw which also don't leak! Thank you hive mind :)

Ifyounevergiveup · 08/09/2024 11:01

@ObsidianTree just hopping over from the slow losers thread to voice my growing admiration for you and all the other early Mj adopters, who were brave enough to struggle on through side effects before you even knew they were a thing! And particular thanks to whoever it was who first mentioned Imodium, boy has that come in useful today 💩

Does anyone else struggle to get protein in?

I don't like most vegetables or fish.

I've tried the protein drinks, yogurts, other food before and I'm not keen. The only yoghurt I can tolerate is yeo-valley organic ones.

I can manage one protein shake a day.

Any suggestions?

Protein pancakes. ? You can buy a big bag of pancake mix that's high protein. Nuts, eggs, beans, soybeans, pea protein, turkey is high in protein and low in fat. There is also a very low fat grated cheese called Lean that I use sometimes.

Meat - any meat you like.
Edamame beans , soybeans, chickpeas, beans
Tofu
Protein wraps / bagels / bread
Eggs
Seafood (prawns, shellfish, etc)

MissFancyDay · 08/09/2024 12:04

I think that what I'm struggling with a bit at the moment is eating enough protein but also having what I consider a balanced meal.

My aim is to eat 80 to 90 grams of protein and about 1200 calories per day. That's a big chunk of calories taken up by protein, and doesn't leave much room for any carbs.

I am on the quest for a good source of high protein balanced meals. Otherwise I'm going to have to include more powders and shakes.

I struggle as i do not like milkshakes, I also bought some clear whey juice stuff and that is absolutely disgusting.
Chicken, lots of chicken, different herbs and spices to flavour it. Eggs, cottage cheese (sorry to mention it again). I read on here babybels, the light ones have 5g protien each. Protien bagels are my work lunch.

Doobi · 08/09/2024 12:09

Ahh so I've just had some bacon and beans on toast, tracked it all on the Loseit App and states for that it's 23g which I guess isn't too bad.

However on the app it recommends my target protein for the day is 175g 😳. There is no way I'd be able to achieve that a day. So maybe a lower target would be better.

Is anyone calorie counting as well whilst on Mounjaro?

I understand the whole calories in, calories out. My recommended daily allowance is 1660 (that's aiming for 1kg per week according to the app with my stats).

3wDavid · 08/09/2024 12:16

@Doobi I calorie count as well. My target is 1350-1400. Some days it’s a bit less, but I aim to always hit 1100-1200 cal at a minimum. I also have the calculation to allow for biggest loss per week (I think mine says 900 g per week). For protein, I read somewhere you should aim for 1 g of protein per 1 kg of body weight. At my highest weight that protein goal for me was ~105 g. I still am aiming for that, most days I surpass it and get more like 120-135g of protein.

Pinkyp22 · 08/09/2024 12:28

I calorie count, I aim for 1200 thats 500 less than my TDE
I don't really track protien, I just try to eat as much as possible.
I don't get too hung up on the protien, I have lost weight successfully on my own before ( regained of course ) but never given this much attention to protien, I don't believe it had any effect of my weight loss then and I don't think it does now really. But that's just me.

3wDavid · 08/09/2024 12:37

The paying attention to protein thing is not so much to do with the weight loss - the weight will come off, it’s more to do with preserving the muscle weight as much as possible (ideally you want to burn fat, keep the muscle). It also keeps you full longer which is why a lot of people trying to lose weight prioritize it.

supadupapupascupa · 08/09/2024 12:46

I've just had a fish cake with salad leaves and tomato. 16g protein according to Zoe app 319 cals. Nice and healthy
I get another 13g with my collagen in my coffee and milk.
The rest is snacks (peanut butter cookies, cooked meats, boiled eggs, beans in your evening meal if possible

The thing with protein, it's all very well prioritising it for muscle however if you're not exercising it's pointless.

Another one struggling to get protein in, my main side effect seems to be nausea since going up to 5mg, and all I really fancy is salt and vinegar crisps and salty chocolate digestives. At the start was liking things like BabyBels as an easy way to get protein in but have gone right off them! Any ideas for salty, crunchy protein sources?!

Marmite rice cakes. Crunchy, salty, Marmitey goodness.

I wish they did Marmite corn cakes though...

IrisPallida · 08/09/2024 13:09

Actually ignore that. I don't think they have much in the way of protein...!!

Pinkyp22 · 08/09/2024 13:09

I have started exercising, nothing spectacular and certainly not weight training. I don't want to build anymore muscle, nore am I intrested in "toning up" either.
When I lost 4 stone in the past, I dont believe I lost any muscle whilst not going overboard on protien so I am going by what's worked for me in the past.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 08/09/2024 13:12

I was planning to do some exercise today but my second jab of 7.5 has made me feel awful, tired and nauseous. I have some weights I was going to have a go with but I don't think it's going to happen today. I did manage to eat a bagel for lunch with salmon and cream cheese but it felt huge and I struggled to finish it. I used to consider something like that a snack before😂

GoodLuckBabe · 08/09/2024 13:29

@IrisPallida they do sound like they’d hit the spot, protein or no protein!
Got my second 5mg jab today so bracing myself for the nausea again. Might try 3.75 actually, as I was down to 900 calories per day following the first jab due to nausea, and would rather not be that low. 🤔

Tailrunner · 08/09/2024 13:30

Hi, hope it's okay for me to join the thread. I've been thinking about trying Mounjaro and doing lots of research after hearing about it from a friend at work. This thread has really helped me make the decision to give it a go so I did the application yesterday and am just waiting for it to be approved. I'm nervous, partly about the side effects but also about whether it will work. I'm a real emotional eater - being stressed, tired, ill, bored all make me reach for food. I'm hoping I can get myself into better habits.
I don't want to tell many people about so having this thread will be great.

Wingingit11 · 08/09/2024 13:31

@doobi I have been making low cal but high calorie (about 250 cal />40 G protein) tubs of ice cream with fage, protein powder and almond mil. Amazingly nice!

Wingingit11 · 08/09/2024 13:32

@Lastchancefatty sho ones are great - leak proof and lots of options

AnnieMcFanny · 08/09/2024 13:40

MaiAamWaliHun · 07/09/2024 16:09

Help! I am on the brink of giving up due to side effects.

At 2.5mcg I was fine but when I moved to 5, I got terrible upset stomach with insane gas. I've never experienced this before. My stomach is broiling and gurgling constantly, it is even interrupting my sleep not to mention the social stress of managing the gas indignity!

It is worst after injection and settles a bit towards the end of the 7 days. I've tried--- peppermint capsules, windeze, IBS for wind/bloating, probiotics, Rennie, Gaviscon, cutting out dairy.

I've been tested at the GP in case it was a bacteria or other problem etc but all was ok. So it must be the Mounjaro.

I feel like I can't go on like this but am also losing weight nicely and am more comfortable in my body than I have been in years (weight-wise).

Is there anything else I can do? Not tried Buscopan cos it isn't cramps but maybe I should. Help!

my friend had bariatric surgery and what you’re describing sounds like what she calls dumping caused by having meals that are larger than they should be. She tells me it’s also caused by fatty and sugary foods. Does any of this ring a bell with you.
