Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

Thank you for starting this thread!

I was inspired by you to try it, I think I ordered at the very end of February.

I’ve got 2lb to target so I’ll be interested in how I get on maintaining.

Start of dieting weight: 16 stone 12
Start of Mounjaro: 15 stone 2
Current weight: 11 stone (BMI 25.2).

I’ve been really lucky with no side effects. Currently on 12.5mg which I’ll use, then 2 x 10mg to use and then I’ll drop to 7.5mg and see how I get on.

NCfor24 · 11/08/2024 14:49

Hi, thanks for the heads up about the thread ☺️

I started mid-March and remember when there was just a few of us. I wouldn't have started if I hadn't found your thread @ObsidianTree

My sister is about 10 weeks in now and she asks me so many questions and isn't getting on as well, and I do think the support on here is second to none and makes such a difference.

I'm 1lb off 3st loss which was my first target. I'm not sure what weight I want to get to, probably another 1.5st to go at least, but being a healthy BMI will be amazing...I'm 27.5 now down from 34. So I guess my next target is whatever aligns with BMI 25 and then I'll see.

Sadly I think I need to consider some kind of tidy up surgery, but saving will take me so long my tummy will have a chance to recover a bit on its own so will see how it goes!

zaffa · 11/08/2024 15:03

Hey - thanks for the heads up about this thread! I started early March, I’m a little over four stone down now but I probably have another four stone to go.
just started 10mg as I did a double month of five, and it has really knocked me - I’m pretty good with diet, don’t eat anything fatty and avoid carbs as much as possible so haven’t had any side effects until now and I have felt sick and almost unable to eat since I started!
how has everyone else found it?
on the plus side I am so happy four stone down - my daughter is less than three and picking her up I can’t believe I was carrying more than that around every day! It’s weird cos I’m absolutely not the person I was but I’m not the person I want to be yet either so I’m in limbo a bit.

KeepingUndercover · 11/08/2024 15:04

What a lovely idea, thanks for flagging it @ObsidianTree. I find it very hard to keep up with the main thread a lot of the time and it's nice to have a space for those of us who have been on it for a while. I think I started in March? Feels like forever ago!

I'm currently finding it weird how after a week where I thought I was on a nice even keel with my 10mg dose I out of nowhere got the worst side effects this week. Injected on Wednesday, sick as a dog on Thursday. Still felt horribly sick on Friday, yesterday was slightly better and I managed to eat 3 meals. Today I feel much more normal thankfully. No idea why I reacted so strongly this week. Hoping it was a one off.

ObsidianTree · 11/08/2024 15:05

I've gone through thread 1 and pm'd familiar people! Got a bit bored and didn't go through thread 2 onwards! Hopefully they will find us!

It's nice to hear how everyone is doing that started towards the start ☺️

Started mj Feb 16st 3lbs
Currently 12st 9lbs

I am 13lbs away from BMI 25. I want to get to BMI 23. But for now, will have 11st 10lb as my goal.

I am currently on 12.5mg.

I started at 120kg and today I was 92kg. It's been 22 weeks. I've suddenly had a lot of people notice after nobody really saying anything for ages. The other week loads of people I see at a weekly club said "oh my god, you've lost a ton of weight". Funny that everyone noticed it all of a sudden.

ObsidianTree · 11/08/2024 15:07

@April88 well done on doing so well. Definitely keep us updated on how maintenance is going ☺️

@NCfor24 send your sister to Mumsnet! This was definitely a great space when we were starting. Hope things snap back! I think they say give it 12 months for the skin to catch up.

montysma1 · 11/08/2024 15:13

My first injection was 16th March, started at 182 lb (although I had already lost 20lb on Ozempic the previous year.).

I am currently 9st 4lb and BMI 21.6. I have lost 52 lbs on MJ .

Although I am 20lb below my target, I am going to continue. I look slim as a whip, but in reality I still have some body flab and c section pouch thingy which don't want to go. I am sure it's my age. And having had twins😂

Going to head for 8st 10lb and hope that shifts the last shoogly bits but realistically might be stuck with them or have to save up for something drastic.

Meanwhile I have discovered Conturve shapeware which hides the bits I want hidden. Frankly, in clothes, I look bloody brilliant😂.

Ohhawtdang · 11/08/2024 15:13

Hi all.

I started in late april. Started at 14.10

I’ve lost 2st 5 but it’s been painfully slow for around 5/6 weeks now- maybe 1lb pw at best. All side effects have subsided and I feel basically no effect at all.

im stepping up to 7.5this week. I need another 1.5-2st and had somewhat naively assumed that was achievable by September but that’s out the window!

any thoughts?

ObsidianTree · 11/08/2024 15:16

@zaffa I hear you. I have lost loads of weight and am currently back to where I was pre first pregnancy, yet I still feel big. I hope my head catches up with me so I start seeing myself as slimer! I still feel I could lose 2st to actually be slim tho! Also, 10mg knocked me also! But got used to it soon enough!

@KeepingUndercover yes I've been finding it quite difficult to keep up with the main thread recently. Flappy gave me the idea of starting this as we were being nostalgic about when we first started! Thought it would be nice to see how many of us are still on MJ ☺️. RE feeling ill this week, how many weeks into 10mg have you got? If you are months in, yeah that's weird! If 2nd/3rd week it could be the titration build up. Hopefully it's a one off ☺️

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 11/08/2024 15:18

@montysma1 maybe give it a year for skin to hopefully ping back. Hopefully it's snaps back. Well done on doing so well ☺️ are you staying on MJ for maintenance?

OP posts:
KeepingUndercover · 11/08/2024 15:19

I was trying to work it out @ObsidianTree as I thought this was my second 10mg pen but actually it's just my first so maybe it is that. Also realised it was my 4th dose, not third. It could just be that build up. I'm glad I ordered another 10mg pen and didn't step up!

ObsidianTree · 11/08/2024 15:21

I think going up to 7.5mg should help. Some people need to get to higher doses to start losing well. But what you've lose so far is amazing. I think things can slow down the closer to goal you get unfortunately. But 1lb week is still better than nothing.

OP posts:
KeepingUndercover · 11/08/2024 15:24

@Ohhawtdang I agree that stepping up the dose might help, I hope it does. I've been lucky to not hit a stall yet but I'm expecting it to catch up with me at some point. So far I'm losing weight I've never tried to lose before and I think when I start hitting previous weights it's going to get trickier. It's just a matter of plodding on through it sometimes I think.

I think so once I stop trying to lose. But not sure what form that will take or how Iong can afford it

Weight loss aside, blood pressure is down , my joint pain has gone, inflammation gone, allergy to my watch strap has vanished. So many positives. Ideally I would like to take it forever!

Mortigua · 11/08/2024 15:40

Hi everyone and thank you for alerting me to the thread . I started with you so it’s great to see how everyone is getting on. I tried to come off it due to costs but the weight was starting to go back on fast so I’ve gone back on it but am on 5 again , moving to 7.5 this week. I’ve not lost in a while but I haven’t gained which was what was happening. Still about 1.5 stone down which doesn’t seem much compared to you all!

NextPrimeMinister · 11/08/2024 15:52

Hi gang 🖐

I started 1st March, and am 3.5 stone down, with 6 to go to get to a bmi of 25. I'm thinking of aiming for 7 to 14lb though, if the pen gods allow.

This tool is an absolute gamechanger imo. I've managed to finally lose this weight after 15 plus years of trying. I feel like me, but from 20 years ago.

Thank you for starting the original thread @ObsidianTree, as I was very curious and the thread gave me the confidence to give it a go. I cannot believe where I am today!

yorkypuds · 11/08/2024 15:57

I started end of April at 16stone. Now 13st 12lbs.
It feels like a slow loss but I love the lack of food noise and obsession about what I was going to eat. I'm currently on 10mg- will probably keep going up! Target is 11st which still feels a long way away.
I'm going to start logging and counting calories/ protein etc and exercising more. I've accepted it is going to be a long journey but I'm not giving up like I usually do!

SocksShmocks · 11/08/2024 16:00

Thanks for letting me know about the thread. I started on mounjaro late Feb (so coming up 6 months) and I haven’t kept up with the threads as they usually moved too fast and I didn’t feel like I had much to contribute.

My starting weight was 118kg (18 stone 8lb) now 98kg (15 stone 6lb). I stayed on 2.5mg for 2 months because I went on holiday and didn’t want to increase my dose at the same time. And I’ve just ordered my 3rd pen of 10mg. i didn’t want to go up to 12.5mg yet because when I increased to 10mg I did have a couple of days when I was sick after brushing my teeth which was not very nice! Weight loss has slowed though so maybe I do need to go up to 12.5mg

BlackFriYay · 11/08/2024 16:01

March starter here 🙋🏼‍♀️ Thanks Obsidian!

Gosh, haven't we all come a long way?

I've got 5.4lbs left to lose until I reach my goal of 9 stone 3. I'm 1lb short of 4 stone lost.

I must admit I'm slightly worried about what life will look like after MJ. I would hate to go back to where I was and I really hope I've done enough work on myself to make all of this sustainable.

@Mortigua I'm interested in hearing about your experience of coming off it and having the weight go back on quickly - what do you think the driving factor in that was? Did your appetite sky rocket once it was out of your system or do you think there was a metabolic factor at play?

ticktock19 · 11/08/2024 16:03

Hi, thanks for the message and this thread ☺️

SocksShmocks · 11/08/2024 16:05

When I started I was finding size 22 clothes we’re feeling a bit tight which was a panic because I didn’t want to start buying size 24. I am now wearing size 20 which doesn’t sound like a big triumph from size 22 but I am much more comfortable in clothes and just in myself. I feel like I’ve lost a good chunk of weight but when I see myself in mirrors or shop windows I am disappointed to see I’m definitely still big.

I don’t know if I’ve got a goal weight.

izzy2076 · 11/08/2024 16:21

Hi everyone! Thank you for starting a pioneer's thread. I was getting lost in the latest one and some of us are now verging on maintenance with a new set of issues.

There are some fantastic losses on here!

I've been on it since 11th March and am down from 82kg to 64. I'm now BMI 24. The weight loss has been slow since the first month and I probably lose a kilo a month now on 7.5. I don't really have a target weight any more. I'm just so happy not to be where I was back in February. I'll be on 7.5 for another 7 weeks and then will titrate down to 5. I don't plan on coming off it. Ever. I don't want to go back to that daily mental struggle/the mad sugar cravings/the aching joints/the despair at the menopausal weight gain that just won't stop no matter what I do to try and halt it.

Stickthatupyourdojo · 11/08/2024 16:24

Thank you so much for setting this thread up @ObsidianTree Smile

I started 12th March at 12 stone exactly, having shifted 12 pounds pre MJ. I've lost 2 stone 10 pounds since then, and am now 9 stone 4 making a total loss of 50 pounds. My BMI has gone from 32.9 to 23.8. The highest I got to was 8.75, I did two months of 7.5mg and have now moved back down to 7.5mg in readiness for stopping (I DONT WANT TO). I have about six weeks left of injections in the fridge. My original goal was 9 stone 10, which was BMI of 24.9. My revised goal is 8 stone 12 which I think is 22.9, and is now 5/6 pounds away. I've completely lost my backside but still have a stubborn fat lower stomach, don't think the 2 c-sections are helping there. My boobs and neck and a bit on my tummy are my worst areas for loose skin but I am realistic and never did this expecting to look like model like, and I am enjoying clothes and getting dressed up again. I don't shy away from getting changed in front of my husband, I don't care if I don't have a perfect body as i finally feel proud of it despite its imperfections. I am so bloody proud of us MJ veterans and so grateful for this community. So wary of stopping though and it all going back on.
