@Wishthiswasntmypost I agree with @Jfw82 this doesn’t sound too awful. I just had a work event and I are 2 mini quiches, 2 large pieces of cheese & two gyoza AND had a glass of wine. The thing is, I’ve eaten well all week with salad, fish, lots of water etc so I think that things like this will occasionally happen. It takes 3000 excess calories for 1lb of weight so a kilo must be 7000 and there’s no way you’ve had that in one meal deal & a doughnut! Please don’t be demoralised, you’ve done so well so far! It must be torture watching the skinnies much on that stuff but it will be worth it.

I need to remember those stats when I have a freak out about overeating ☺️😂

Wishthiswasntmypost · 19/09/2024 20:23

Thank you all. This is what I needed. Tonight I cooked a meal for friends, served everyone a large portion, half size for me. Pudding -I didn't eat any. Alcohol- none. I guess the irony of making a lovely dinner and limiting my intake smarts. Its hard to read sneering posts from others suggesting all fat people continually eat takeaways, scoff crap etc when I know it isn't true. Can't remember last takeaway...probably 2 Chinese meals this year and one pizza.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 19/09/2024 20:50

I seem to follow this pattern for those that gain a kilo out of nowhere

Infection day Monday
Mon 800-1000 Cals loose
Ties 800-1000 Cals loose
Weds 800-1000 Cals loose
Thurs 800-1000 Cals loose
Fri 1200-1800 Cals stay same
Sat 14-1800 Cals gain
Sun 14-1800 casl gain

This have been happening every week now for 8/9 weeks.

I don't know what I will do when I try to maintain.

Jfw82 · 20/09/2024 07:52

This morning now only does the scale start with a 14 not a 15 but I've also officially hit 10% off my start weight.
Next mini goal is 2 stone off which is 5lbs away
NSV going to need to buy a belt for my jeans Grin

Ilovethewild · 20/09/2024 09:13

Good morning

sw 118.1
cw 103.4
gw 70kg

loss of 1.2kg this week, which has been a regular loss
on 7.5mg, about 10 weeks in.

total loss of 2 stone, many more to go.

im also looking at long term maintenance as am worried about the food noise returning, and mindless eating.

happy with continuing losses,
side effects much less on 7.5

HundredMilesAnHour · 20/09/2024 12:50

I'm just about to start my 3rd week of 7.5mg. Yesterday I was in the office and the suppression had really worn off. Much more than on any previous weeks! So lunch ended up being a M&S Hoisin Duck wrap (didn't look at the calories, best not to know!) and some strawberries. Then I dodged the after work drinks but was hungry again so had 2 slices of toast. None of this is outrageous but the change (increase!) in my hunger level was a bit of a shock / slap in the face.

I'd actually been considering coming off MJ to save money but yesterday made me realise that's not a good idea right now! I'm 11kg down but want/need to lose another 19kg and Hoisin Duck wraps are not the way to do that. 😜

Choux · 20/09/2024 13:27

@HundredMilesAnHour was that your entire food for the day or where the other meals and snacks? Because that is probably under 1,000 calories total so not at all a blow out but isn't really very nutritious as there's hardly any protein or fruit and veg.

If you don't eat enough and don't get good nutrients and protein in your diet you run the risk of losing muscle instead of fat and of starting with hair loss.

Your duck wrap and strawberries is fine for a lunch at work esp if you want your eating habits to blend in with everyone else's. Don't beat yourself up about that.

MyPearlMentor · 20/09/2024 16:12

@Ilovethewild take a look at Oushk pharmacy. I am swapping to them as they were one of only two providers I could find with a declared maintenance plan with three options - stay on dose, taper off (and then stick if you want to) and come off completely but with an option to restart within 13 months if you regain (without the need to go back up to BMI 30!)

Also, congratulations on the loss so far, you are doing great! 💪🏼

MyPearlMentor · 20/09/2024 16:15

@Jfw82 wow! 10% is great, well done! I love the NSVs too… I am not quite at new belt but can now get my 34 bras done up without the extension clip elastic I have been using for the last year!

Yikes, I wasn't expecting a lecture. 🙄

The point of my post was how surprised I was at the suppression at 7.5mg wearing off quite so dramatically. And me seemingly having undervalued how much MJ was keeping my appetite/hunger at bay. I thought it might be relevant or useful info for others taking/thinking about taking MJ.

I'm not beating myself up about anything nor do I care whether my eating habits "blend in". I find this a bizarre comment to be frank but maybe other people do genuinely care about blending in? (I don't and it never occurred to me that other people do).

(As an aside, I'm actually a former international athlete as well as qualified fitness instructor so I know what to eat and how to maintain my muscle %. But I've been very ill and now have a disability which prevents me exercising - amongst other things - and have gained a lot of weight as a result. Hence the MJ).

Well done! I've just had to start wearing a belt as well

Wishthiswasntmypost · 20/09/2024 19:21

@HundredMilesAnHour my meal deal day was a similar slip. I'm aware of the suppression disappearing. I've been on 5mg for 5 weeks. I'm still dithering about whether to continue or not. I'm OK with my current weight and think I need to build muscle and tone up. My thighs look a little deflated 🫤 and whilst I look good in clothes, less so undressed

Jfw82 · 20/09/2024 20:01

@Wishthiswasntmypost I look forward to going down a size but needing a belt feels a good start doesn't it !

MyPearlMentor · 21/09/2024 06:49

@Wishthiswasntmypost I found 7.5mg has made a huge difference on the appetite suppression if that’s any help? I also need to build muscle & tone up but have always hated exercise (other than walking & running) but I know it’s time to accept that it has to be part of my future!

On the meal deals / doughnuts etc. I had 2 glasses of red wine & a cheese plate last night. Was feeling sorry for myself as a business meeting finished late & so I had to stay overnight in another country (which I travel to constantly!) it wasn’t even that I was super hungry, I just really really felt like I deserved something “normal”. For me the boredom of eating the same fish/chicken/salad/veg is real… it’s not like we are talking treats & takeaways just normal food.

whethertheweather · 21/09/2024 07:52

Can I jump from the August thread to ask a question? I'm about to order 7mg for the first time. Have you found there's a big increase in side effects compared with 5mg? Already quite constipated (sorry TMI) and have at least one day a week of stomach ache/nausea so I'm a bit worried.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 21/09/2024 12:03

Red wine and cheese...can't imagine 🤩

Yes sick of boring food but I have started to eat same, just less of food that the family have, but avoid all the sweet stuff. I will have another dinner party this weekend and watch everyone devour a pudding I make and don't eat. 🙁 That is just wrong.

I walk a lot, but hate weights and gym. I am physically less strong due to age but still do lots of heavy DIY and gardening. I used to run marathons, 10ks, swim a mile easily and was an (amateur)competitive cyclist. I'm never going back to that level as it took a lot of time and commitment to be there

Wishthiswasntmypost · 21/09/2024 12:05

@whethertheweather I can't help sorry

I had zero side effects at 2.5mg or 5mg. I did 6mg last week as a step up as I was nervous about the jump too. I felt like a tranquillised zombie for one day, could barely get out of bed, and mildly sick for three days. Wasn’t pleasant.

MyPearlMentor · 21/09/2024 20:13

@whethertheweather I have done 2 weeks of 7.5mg. The suppression is good but yeah, the constipation is increased! I’m pretty lucky in that I’ve had no other side effects other than a rash at the injection site… I am still losing approx 1kg a week pretty steadily & so I am willing to put up with it for the loses!

MyPearlMentor · 21/09/2024 20:15

@Wishthiswasntmypost wow, sounds like you were an amazing athlete! I have been a couch potato all my life, I just used to be a skinny one until I hit my 40s (now 50!)

Lds1 · 21/09/2024 22:30

I'll be starting 7.5 next week.

First weight 25/07/2024: 142.8
19/09/2024: 128.7

Height: 5ft6
Target: somewhere around 60 to be mid healthy BMI

MyPearlMentor · 22/09/2024 08:22

Just weighed in and despite my cheese & wine dinner on Friday I have lost a bit more this week.

SW 85kg
CW 72.5kg
GW 68kg max, ideally 64kg
4.5-9kg off target

I’m very happy to realise that despite measuring in KG my loss adds up to 2 stone :-) My NSV is that a dress I need for a fancy event later this week would not zip up a month ago and is now a decent fit.

This week I don’t expect to lose & maybe even gain as I’m going away for 5 days with friends on a wine tasting trip. Going to try not to sabotage myself too much!

Tomorrow will be my 3rd 7.5mg injection, I intend to stay on this dose for my next pen too. MUST START EXERCISING too!

Wishthiswasntmypost · 22/09/2024 08:51

@MyPearlMentor I promise you I was not an amazing athlete 😂 I was a "5K Run for Life" who just became obsessed and did regular training. I was a very slow runner and swimmer just doing it for mental health. My point was the narrative of us all being lazy people with no self-control (that you read on other threads) isn't the correct picture. It's far more complex. I'm also in a much better place mentally, so that obsession has gone. I don't want it back.

I'm never doing 7.5mg. The impact on me would be too much. The first 3 weeks on 5mg were grim.

SallySunrise · 22/09/2024 15:08

Just starting a new pen on week 10, this is my final one I think. I don't think I can justify the cost for much longer. Money is tight at the moment and of course there's xmas coming up 🎄

16lbs down over 9 weeks. It's not bad, but in theory I could do it without the meds....in theory!

SW 14st 2lbs
CW 13st exactly

With the bonus dose I've got until the end of October on 5mg. I suppose I could count clicks and stretch it out another week. We'll see. I'm hoping for another half a stone off, that feels realistic.

I'm nervous about maintaining though, if the weight starts creeping up again I might need to find the money.
