@MyPearlMentor I think you’re right with getting to that 6/7 weeks in stage and things just feeling a bit boring. I need to take a leaf out of your book and add in some treats to try and perk me up a bit. Even if it is just a new pair of knickers 😆

ACEwards · 01/09/2024 06:11

I've been so lucky with not having diarrhoea this whole time despite other side effects. Typically, as I'm due to go out later today to a festival, the D has started and I feel grotty 😳 at this point I'm not sure if I can even go, but how long to I leave it before I make a decision and let everyone down??

When people had D, how long did it take to pass? Annoyingly as I have IBS, any of the anti-diarrhoea tablets give me horrendous tummy pain so can't take them.

I'm normally on 2.5mg but for my 6th week I tried to up it by an extra 20 clicks, so was about 3.33mg. This confirms that's I'd never be able to handle 5mg 😂

SallySunrise · 01/09/2024 06:28

Morning all!

Weighed myself this morning and I've managed to shift half a pound this week. I'll pleasantly surprised as back on 2.5mg. I think I'll probably stick to that this week as well. My eldest has two inset days so i need my energy.

Is anyone else struggling to make healthy choices with food? Appetite suppression is still pretty good, but I can't seem to find the motivation to cook healthy meals. I'm mostly living off freezer food & toast. I guess I've just lost all interest in food.

SW 14st 2lbs
CW 13st 4.5lbs (wk 8 i think)

MyPearlMentor · 01/09/2024 09:34

@SallySunrise 100% yes in the struggling to make healthy choices. I need to find some new healthy recipes to make this sustainable. I tried Prepd Kitchen food box but they were basically posher ready meals, and Mindful Chef etc have too many calories for just now. I bought “A Pinch of Nom” & have made a few things from there… you can find loads of them free online actually.

I also think it’s just boredom - same chicken / fish / veggies / salad routine. I love a Sunday roast & potatoes done in goose fat are “my thing” and I am missing them badly. At least the weather is nice so salad seems appealing just now!

I’m doing my last 5mg in this pen on Monday. Dithering about whether to go up to 7.5 or stick at 5… I’m getting ok suppression but not losing much weight in the last 2 weeks. Aside from the “meh” feeling and the rash at injection site for 24 hours I seem to be ok on the side effects. Is anyone planning to go up or are you all hoping to get by on 5? Health coach was not much help “it’s really up to you!”.

@HeBeaverandSheBeaver honestly the middle aged joy of a new pair of pants every day for a week is REAL! ;-)

I'm staying on 5mg for another month then quitting

Wishthiswasntmypost · 01/09/2024 11:06

I'm also a bit sick of my safe meal choices. I have been out to eat 3 times this week and made good choices each time. Sitting opposite people eating pudding, drinking and choosing calorific main courses is utterly galling expecially as I'd stalled.

Yesterday husband and I were at a festival. Typical food stalls.... he had nearly a whole pizza, beer and some white chocolate chip ice cream. Female friend had a brownie and I just watched.... drinking 2 litres of water and the last piece of pizza. Dinner was salad and chicken.

However scales had moved this morning. I have seen his before and then they go back up but am hopeful for weigh in tomorrow

@MyPearlMentor I just took my 4th dose of 5mg yesterday so I will probably go up to 7.5mg unless I feel particularly bad over the next day or two. I figure that if 7.5mg makes me feel awful, I'll just drop back down to 5mg. I've lost 19 pounds in 7 weeks but I definitely notice the appetite suppression wearing off around day 5 of each week. What's helping me is the reduction in food 'noise'. I've had the most awful week (unexpected death in my family) and I'd usually turn to food but somehow resisted this time.

Edit: I'm way past the middle-aged new pants thing as instead I've started going commando. It's rather lovely in the summer and certainly saves on laundry. 😜

Due to go on holiday soon and I don't want to take my pen with me.

I usually inject on a Monday, which means if I don't take it with me, I'll be injecting on the Wednesday afternoon. Will this be okay?

I had to move days too as I had a work trip - couldn’t take the needle in my hand luggage - mine was 24 hours early and it was fine. I guess 48 hours later you might just notice it wearing off a bit?

MzHz · 01/09/2024 20:03

You can take pens in hand luggage, you can get a letter from prescriber

I’ll be taking mine at the end of sept and mid November, just waiting for new dosage and will order the letter (juniper)

if checked bag, it can go in the hold

many put them in a metal water bottle to protect them and keep cool, but as long as they are under 30c they are fine for 30 days out of fridge

Ilovethewild · 01/09/2024 20:51

I took my pen on flight, in hold luggage, no issues. Only I didn’t take my sharps bin as too large, so kept old needles to bring home (just 2).

sw 118.3 kg
cw 106

down 2.6 kg in 2 weeks
took 4th 5mg on Friday, so planning on moving to 10mg next week.
i haven’t found 5 mg easy, have felt full and sensitive tummy, constipated. Hoping for better on 10mg

Wishthiswasntmypost · 02/09/2024 06:21

I'd be terrified of jumping up to 10mg. Isnt there a 7.5 step?

Wishthiswasntmypost · 02/09/2024 06:22

I have lost weight this week. Hallelujah

BMI now 29.4 from 33 7 weeks ago.

You are supposed to do 4 weeks minimum on each dose - 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg and then 10mg. Suppliers should refuse to send you a 10mg pen if you are currently using a 5mg pen.

And the reason for going up slowly through the doses is to give your body a chance to get used to the drug and minimise side effects. You say you already have side effects on 5mg so you definitely should not be skipping 7.5mg. If your tummy is very sensitive you should perhaps stick to 5mg a bit longer. You are losing well on 5mg so why the rush to increase?

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 02/09/2024 08:32

Ordered pen 3.
Yesterday was a disaster as away. But today is a new day.

That is an amazing result! Well done you!

MyPearlMentor · 02/09/2024 11:31

Found out what happens if you overeat / drink for myself last night! Following a celebration lunch I had the most awful upset stomach with constant trips to the bathroom. As it was the day before my injection I thought it might be kind of ok - apparently not! I do not recommend it!

I have however decided to go up to 7.5mg next week to see what it does for me as I have 9kg to scrape into “healthy BMI” and ideally 13kg, although that is seeming unachievable just now.

A new day as you say… keep the MJ faith, you are nearly there!

ChaChaChooey · 02/09/2024 13:18

Well, I’m pleased to report that my plateau seems to have shifted!

My numbers thus far:

6.5 weeks on MJ

4 weeks + ‘Bonus’ dose @ 2.5mg
2 weeks @ 5mg

Total loss 24lb

from BMI 30 to BMI 26

7lbs to go to reach the top of the ‘healthy’ BMI zone (11st 1lb) for my height (168cm).

I have been as low as 9st before but that makes me look like my head is too big for my body and it’s totally unsustainable for me (it was achieved via stress!) so I’m hoping to get somewhere around the middle of the healthy zone rather than the bottom of it.

MyPearlMentor · 02/09/2024 15:14

@ChaChaChooey wow, well done! You must really be able to see a difference in shape & dress size at 24lbs down! Very encouraging :-)

Xiaoxiong · 02/09/2024 17:03

I'm definitely finding that like others on this thread, much of the weight loss and reduction of food noise is in the first 2-3 days after the jab and by the end of the week it starts wearing off. I'm due my next jab on Weds morning and I'm definitely thinking about snacking right now!

Instead I'm going to have a big glass of water, remind myself I'm having dinner at 7pm and not snack, and go for a walk.

It's so noticeable when the food noise comes back. I just need to keep reminding myself that these are permanent lifestyle changes I'm making, and why.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 02/09/2024 17:33

Anyone else had the furies? I'm normally level, fairly calm and even tempered. Jab this morning and I've been emotional, low but also irrationally angry.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 02/09/2024 21:47

A stone down but noone has commented. Does it notice please 😞

I think it's very difficult to say in those two outfits as they are so different. The one thing I would say is you don't look massively overweight in either!
