Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

Hello! Thanks for the link to here...I don't go on the other threads much just because they used to be a constant barrage of 'use my code' 🤣

Some really great progress here, keep it up...I also am about to go to vinted and search for lucy and yak stuff when I have written this post!

I started on 29 Feb...progress has been slower than I would like but several factors...no really only one. Alcohol. I just wish mounjaro made it difficult to drink but I can still manage quite a bit. Clearly I need to dig deep on the willpower front and stop hoping for the magic cure. Anyway, have lost 2st 2 to date, weigh in tomorrow, not expecting much but as long as I am not going backwards! I have just gone up to 10mg, I did 2 months on 5 and 2 on 7.5 so realise that may not have been helpful, I felt at the time maybe I didn't need to go all the way up but np think perhaps I have to.

I have really upped my exercise but will not allow myself to use the gaining muscle stuff as an excuse, my scales measure all of that! I do feel fitter, healthier, smaller (though my brain still hasn't caught up with that) I just need to keep plugging on.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 13/08/2024 00:08

@Blondeshavemorefun I've had a look at my credit card bills and I've spent £1500 so far, but about £440 of that is on the 3 pens I have still got unused in my fridge.

I've had:
1 x 2.5mg
2 x 5mg
1 x 7.5mg
2 x 10mg

@CiderJabs I haven't spoken to anyone about maintenance as I've been swapping suppliers for a lower price. Yes if you have already bought your wedding dress then you'll have to be careful not to get cut off a supply you can't get back onto if needed! Maybe a couple more pens just in case? I'm sure you'll be fine, you're a lot closer to maintenance than I am so hopefully your body will get used to your new size.

Me and DP haven't actually set a date for our wedding yet but I want to do it while I'm slim, not when I've put half the weight back on.

NextPrimeMinister · 13/08/2024 08:12

Has anyone started a maintenance plan via their prescriber? I'm with medexpress, who say they do maintenance, so I've not stock piled any pens. Just wondering what it actually looks like.

Hello NPM!

Still a way off. Also with ME but seriously thinking of switching as I was unimpressed by their rejection of my price match request.

NextPrimeMinister · 13/08/2024 19:43

Hello 👋 @Thebaldprimadonna

Why did they reject? They accepted mine (but as a credit off my next pen).

TitsInAbsentia · 13/08/2024 19:51

Wait what? Rejected your price match request? Tell us more!

Also...I am WAY too scared to work out how much I have spent so far but in all honesty it's probably fractional compared to what I have spent throughout the years!

rainbowsandinfinitesparkles · 13/08/2024 20:22

I've been dipping in and out of the main thread but good to see some originals.

I started in 12th march at 16st12lb and I'm now at 13st1lb. We've just got back from holiday and I had to buy new clothes to go which was a shock I've gone from a 20 to having bought dresses in sizes 12 and 14 which I can't get my head around at all.

I'm on 7.5 at the moment and still not counting calories. I eat the a healthy diet with all the food groups and focus on portion control - serving the same amount as I give the children.

The thing I'm finding hard is the emotions. I was/am definitely an emotional eater and it's hard not having that as a coping mechanism. For the first time in a long time I'm having to actually feel my feelings and not eat them which is so bloody hard. That said getting both physically and mentally healthy for my kids is so worth it. Since my 20s ive been to hell and back with my mum's health issues through not addressing her weight and I won't do that to my small people.

CiderJabs · 13/08/2024 21:15

@ObsidianTree see what you have done? You left the other thread and a fight has already broken out !

Think I'll take this opportunity to do the same. Won't announce my departure though as most people don't even recognise my name I'm sure. I'll stick around here instead :)

ObsidianTree · 13/08/2024 21:54

@CiderJabs lol! It looks like it's ok again now! It's nice to not have to worry about fights anymore 😂

RagzRebooted · 13/08/2024 22:24

@ObsidianTree thank you so much for the new thread and the heads up. Not sure if I was on the first, but I was definitely on the second. I fell off the main thread as been busy with moving house prep.
Started MJ on March 20th, I don't remember exactly what triggered it but I may well have just stumbled on your thread and got sucked in!

21 weeks in and gone from 17 stone 6lbs to 14 stone 2lbs. Amazing.

@EsotericMnemonic I went up to 10mg for a few weeks and had to step back down to 7.5 as the nausea was so bad, I'm on the 2nd week back on 7.5 and the nausea is still too much. Cyclizine doesn't seem to be working (I'm also hypothyroid but the BNF didn't say that wasn't okay so I ignored MedExpress telling me that's why I wasn't allowed it) and I don't know why, but I am prone to nausea (never actually vomit) so maybe I'm just sensitive to that side effect. The fatigue is improving though, would be better if I could eat more but I'm struggling!

I need energy for moving and hoped going down to 7.5 I'd feel fine but actually I was feeling grotty on it before and have no idea why I thought moving to 10mg was a good idea! Might take even less next week as lots to do.

Because I went up slowly I've got 3 pens still in the fridge (10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg) so will probably have enough to get to goal (using them for over the recommended time limit, I know). I can't really afford another due to moving costs.
Because I've had so much hassle with nausea I'm not one of those hoping to stay on it for maintenance. I've checked out gym options where we're moving and delighted that there are much better and cheaper options there. 3 swimming pools within a 20 minute drive!

CiderJabs · 13/08/2024 22:40

@RagzRebooted watch out for the expiry dates on the pens. From what I gather, the longest ones are the 7.5s and a few of the higher ones run out before xmas.
I'm also in the "use them for over 30 days" camp as I leave them permanently in the fridge and clean the pen twice every time it's used. So far I've been ok but of course I can't advise anyone to do it.

omega4ever · 13/08/2024 23:15

Hi, lovely to see and hear familiar names and banter. I feel lost in the main thread and can't keep up.

I started MJ mid April after reading @ObsidianTree threads. I had a shove to start before a holiday from someone as I was dithering about and will be forever greatful 🙏.

I started at 112kgs and I'm now 97kgs. Currently on 7.5mgs and suppression good but I do feel some nausea 🤢 for the 24 - 48ish hours post jab . I'm exercising and eating healthy small meals.

I'm about halfway to a non obese Bmi which feels amazing but still a long way to go... but the weeks are ticking off and the journey is progressing well. I'm in it for the long haul and loving that some of you pioneers are reaching goal and maintenance chat... so inspiring ✨️ 🙌

Yeah my 15mg expires end of October and the 10mg November. I didn't realise when I opened my first 10mg as that is next year, so I should have used the 12.5 when it arrived as I hadn't started the 10mg then. I'll go with the 15mg next and hopefully finish it before it expires. The 12.5mg might end up going a bit over but I'm sure it will be fine, I doubt it suddenly stops working. They extended a few batches of the 2.5mg so we know it's quite stable.
I am very lax with expiry dates on absolutely everything though and would never advise anyone else if ignore them like I do!

Silvesterthecat · 14/08/2024 07:42

Today is weigh in day and IVE JUST HIT MY TARGET!!!!

Started mid May (13 weeks) and I’ve used each dose as recommended, plus the bonus. I realistically was aiming to loose 2 stone but ideally I’d like to loose another 1/2 stone. It feels amazing!!!!!!

The nicest thing now is that whatever clothes I pick to wear actually look ok whereas before nothing did up and was a struggle to pick an outfit and hid the bumps and rolls, having to wear jumpers to hide, and belts if I couldn’t do up buttons.

ObsidianTree · 14/08/2024 08:55

@RagzRebooted I did similar and got the 12.5 and 15mg without being ready for them! I am currently on the 12.5mg pen. Went up earlier than planned because of the expiry dates! But I feel like 12.5mg not having a great effect with cravings etc. So will probably use the 15mg pen next.

My last pen I bought over a month ago now. Didnt want to buy another if it had a short expiry and I didn't know what dose I wanted. I was thinking of getting another 12.5 as it has a longer expiry, but now might go for 15mg! Need to check if it works out time wise! So annoying!

But also highly doubt the 15 and 12.5 will expire when they say!

Hey all, wondering if I can join your group? I started at the beginning of May so just missed your cut-off point but am finding the big group a bit much now especially as I'm nearing goal weight. Someone else's attempt to start a 'coming off MJ' thread hasn't really taken off as I'd hoped - it was a bit negative, with a dominant theme of 'you're gonna put all the weight back on, you just need to change your lifestyle, yada, yada'. It's a bit of a downer...

ObsidianTree · 14/08/2024 09:15

@montysma1 I remember you saying that you accidentally took 15mg and felt it was a perfect dose. Are you on 15mg officially now? Is it still a perfect dose for you? I've been feeling like 12.5mg isn't cutting it. Wondering if 15mg will be perfect and last! Worry about starting it and feeling like it's not enough after a short while!

Lol yeah sure you can! Just set the date range based on the the time before the other threads that were created by month.

I saw that thread! It was pretty depressing! But the person didn't titrate down slowly right? And did a cold turkey approach to stopping. I think any evidence there has been has said titrate down slowly and gradually etc.

I've been putting small amounts of weight on for the last 4 days which is really irritating as I haven't been indulging in anything I shouldn't have. I got down to 11st 2oz but just keep going up now 😒

Im working in London for the rest of the week so will have to be really careful what I eat. The smell of bacon has been wafting through the train carriage so I'm starving already.

My size 14 work trousers are feeling loose now but I haven't lost enough to size down. I might have to have another wardrobe review and find a wider selection of work clothing.

izzy2076 · 14/08/2024 09:35

I'm on holiday and it's very weird not being fat! I don't have that bloated feeling either. It's also very weird being at the breakfast buffet and not going nuts. I had a bit of baclava yesterday and I haven't eaten anything sweet in weeks. No sugar rush or crash and it didn't provoke a sugar bender.

I am on 7.5 and took a shot this morning.

KeepingUndercover · 14/08/2024 09:43

After how sick I felt last week I didn't do all my bonus dose today, opted for 7.5 rather than 10. We're going away for a week this weekend and I just don't want to risk feeling like death. I'm not taking a pen with me, I'll just do my injection a few days late when we get back. So far I've lost every single week so I think I can cope with a little holiday gain if it happens!

montysma1 · 14/08/2024 09:53

@ObsidianTree I would certainly say 15mg is the dose I need. Not that there is no suppression on lower doses, but I think your body adapts and to get the old wow factor " NOT HUNGRY" effect, I need to be high.

I think I am one who isn't a super responder........not that I don't lose weight on it, but I never had nausea or food revulsion or diarrhea or sulphur burps. Just nicely suppressed but able to eat ( albeit eat less) at mealtimes.

I am taking 15mg but with extra clicks from a 12.5mg. Remember my warm pens that I got free?! I am using them up. I defo think they work but less potent than "non warm" pens whatever Eli lily and the pharmacy's say about arriving unchilled not being an issue.🤔

I have a non warmed 12.5mg to use as well and a 15mg pen.
I am going to use the 15mg first as it was warm (got a 50% credit back) and has a shorter use by date.

Hoping they will release long date 15mgs , which I will then eek out at lower dose for maintaining as I can't keep high dosing forever, can't afford it apart from anything else.

I am at 21.2bmi. looking to lose another 8lb.
Although I am slim clearly, I have the weird bumless shape and skinny legs, but with a bit of belly flab that won't go. At this weight years ago I would have been ribby with a convex tummy. It's clearly middle age shape change, but I am hoping that extra half stone will do it.
Losing very slowly now as allowing myself more food and being less stringent. But i am not gaining so that's good .

Yes, poor woman sounded so distressed. She didn't reply the following day so I hope she's OK, I suggested she speak to her GP about a referral/tests re such an extreme rebound but don't know if she has.
