The first thread was almost full, so I thought I'd start a second so we can carry on the fab support!
I don't think I could manage tagging everyone!! But here is the link to the first thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5101435-mounjaro-july-2024?page=1

Week 6 and my first week on 5mg and I think I finally have a little bit of suppression! I've been feeling really full after a small amount of food. I keep looking at the amount my husband has piled on his plate and wondering how he can possibly eat that much but I used to eat far more!

I've also experienced my first side effects with one bout of diarrhoea followed by constipation. After a disappointing loss of 0.6lbs last week I have lost 4.4lbs this week which makes a total of 21.5lbs off 🙂🙂 Seventh jab tonight.

Sounds great! That's ideally what you want, to feel full quicker but still be able to eat. Full suppression is definitely not a good thing! Sounds like you've found your sweet spot.

Well done to everyone on their weight loss journey!

Steady Saturday weigh-in day for me. Completed week three of 5mg and my appetite suppression is still really good and I have continued to lose weight.

Week 1 loss 1.6kg
Week 2 loss 1.1kg
Week 3 loss 1.2kg
Week 4 loss 1.4kg
Total loss on 2.5mg = 5.3kg

Week 5 loss 0.8kg
Week 6 loss 0.9kg
Week 7 loss 0.6kg
Total loss on 5.0mg = 2.3kg

Total weight loss = 7.6kg

I have more energy and fewer side effects this week. Gentle exercising has been completed most days and I am starting to feel healthier. My weight loss is not really noticeable to others but my clothes are definitely bigger and I can wear items a size smaller than when I started.

I am feeling positive and hopeful that I will manage to lose weight properly this time.

NewLifter · 17/08/2024 09:53

Congratulations littlelhama, great losses!

MounjaroMunchie · 17/08/2024 21:34

Late update today as we're away for the weekend. I've stayed the same this week (week 7, 5mg dose) which is disappointing, but always preferable to a gain.

For the first time on MJ (apart from the wicked pulled muscle feeling after jab no. 1), I've struggled today - almost complete appetite suppression, and low-level nausea all day. We've been at the seaside today and all I've managed to choke down is a couple of bites of fish, one chip, and two chicken mcnuggets on the way home. I did this jab on Thursday morning and I've read it peaks around day 3, so really hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Lumirubin · 18/08/2024 09:22

Sorry to hear you've struggled today @MounjaroMunchie . I've delayed my jab from yesterday to today because we have friends here this weekend and I wanted to be able to drink wine and eat normally.

Weekly weigh in for week 9
SW 18st 1lbs
CW 15st 11lbs
Total loss 2 stone 4lbs

I was 1lb lighter on Friday morning pre a weekend of wine, but I'm totally ok with a small gain if it means I can enjoy myself and I'm still 3lbs down on last week so happy!

Just forced my 5mg pen and got the bonus dose out no problem, managed one whole click and then a bit more, so hoping I've taken a dose somewhere between 5-7.5mg. Got my 7.5mg pen in the fridge ready for next week but I'm considering taking 3/4 doses rather than the full 7.5mg. Will see how this week goes.
I'm expecting some dodgy gastric symptoms the next few days given I've not eaten very well the last few days and injected today.

I told my friend we have staying that Im on flab jabs, first person other than DH and DM that I've told and they werent judgemental about it at all which has made me feel less like I need to keep it a secret. At the end of the day, for me it's an absolute miracle drug and I should be shouting it from the rooftops!

MounjaroMunchie · 18/08/2024 11:07

Yeah, it's been a bit disappointing @Lumirubin because I don't want total appetite suppression, I want to be able to feel and manage hunger cues with a view to long-term maintenance, but I'm just trying to see it as the blip that it is. I've done OK on 5mg so far.

And that's great news about you telling your friend! I haven't told anyone except my husband and my best friend (who has had exactly the same struggles as me so totally gets it) but then again, I've not been asked about it, either. I'll have to see how I feel in the moment if I'm ever directly asked about it!

Lumirubin · 18/08/2024 11:35

I've started to get to the point where it is noticeable that I've lost a decent chunk of weight quite quickly, so the first thing people seem to ask is how. Given my friend was staying with us and the jab was in the fridge I felt it wasn't a lie I was willing to tell to give the usually "oh just watching my calories and eating better".

I took my jab this morning, had a poached egg on toast and I'm already feeling like I'm stuffed to the brim!

I've decided to stay on 5mg, for some reason I got it stuck in my head I had to progress to 7.5, but it's not a requirement to move up and up each month is it! I'm feeling like 5mg is a manageable dose, although of course I have basically maintained over the past 2 weeks. I'm waiting for a few items of clothing from vinted to arrive, and see what fits. 🤞I'm worried I'm kidding myself somehow that my current pile of jeans are actually too loose, and everything I've bought the size down will be way too small. 🙄

We moved house a few weeks before I started the jabs, and I've been naturally more active as a result of all the box moving, furniture rearranging, and garden clearing. So I'm generally fitter than before, which is great. It also means most people I see day to day haven't noticed I've lost weight- dc are oblivious, neighbours don't see me enough to take stock, and I work remote so I'm just a disembodied head on teams. Although, having said that, my facial recognition unlock feature on my work laptop hasn't been able to recognise me recently, I wonder if it's the weight loss. 🤔 😅 Or windows is crap!

Mounjaroooooh · 18/08/2024 17:36

Week 7 weigh in and I've lost 3 lbs, that's 24 lbs in total. I'm 3 lbs off getting in the 12s and 4 lbs off 2 stone.

Some great results on here this week, not just losses but getting into smaller clothes and people feeling fitter and healthier

NewLifter · 18/08/2024 17:57

Congratulations on the losses team 👏

The scales are moving again for me at last too thankfully. I've always had this issue of gaining for a week when I have my period, and again for a week when I ovulate so I only have two weeks in every four where I can see my losses 😂

BMI is now 30.2 (argh!) keen to get it below 30 so I'm no longer obese.

Still no comments from anyone about losing weight but I've been off work for nearly three weeks so will be interesting to see if anyone notices tomorrow.

I bought trousers in June, just as I ordered my first pen and loved them so went back and bought the next size down too - the bigger size now hang on me and the smaller pair are getting loose too so I know there's a good difference. My work uniforms all fit again too.

I was at the shops earlier and eyeing up lovely jeans but will definitely wait now until I finish.

Aiming for BMI 26-27 - which is about 19lbs away and will be a comfortable size 12. At 5 foot 8, I've no desire to go any slimmer than that.

Really thinking ahead to maintenance now, planning to move from Zava to Oushk for that - unless Zava happen to come out with maintenance plans in the interim! I'm not a fan of jumping about suppliers.

I am still on 3.75mg - no side effects this week thankfully but still happy with the suppression so not moving up to 5mg yet.

MounjaroMunchie · 18/08/2024 18:53

How are you finding it using MJ alongside what I assume is a pretty intensive lifting routine? I want to lose, and am definitely in a calorie deficit, but I also want to try and build some muscle whilst I'm at it and I know those two goals aren't always compatible with each other!

JaneFallow · 18/08/2024 20:37

Have had 6th injection today and have gone up to 5mg, on the basis I am away soon and will have an 8 day interval between injections.

Have been trying on old clothes with some surprising results. Have made up three charity shop bags of things I hope never to wear again. Several jackets/blazers look ridiculously oversized now.

Fab well done! The non scale victories are sometimes better!

Enjoying hearing about all these non scale victories!

I don't want my GP to be informed I used VOY first pen and shopping around for cheaper for second pen - can someone point me in right direction please?

All good! I do three 45 Min spin classes and three 45 Min weights sessions a week.

I'm definitely building strength quickly despite being in a calorie deficit which in theory isn't meant to be possible. I had been very strong up until this year when an injury meant I had to stop exercising and I gained weight rapidly then!

I love lifting weights!

My plan is to get to my goal weight then start increasing my calorie intake weekly and really focus on hypertrophy. It definitely helps the metabolism. And I love feeling strong!

BamberGirl · 19/08/2024 07:49

All these losses and non scale wins are brilliant!

@NewLifter What’s Hypertrophy please?

CheekySwan · 19/08/2024 08:40

I am on MJ, just took 3rd dose of 2.5mg yesterday, I am planning on sticking with the 2.5 for now as in 2 weeks I have lost 4kg. I am currently injecting on a Sunday and we are due to go on holiday Monday 23rd Sept. I am thinking of not taking my injection on the 22nd. Then restarting it on the following Monday when I return.

A few side effects, dry mouth, constipation, etc but nothing too scary. One of the better side effects I have is I have completely gone off alcohol, it takes me about 3hrs to drink a glass of wine. I want to go on holiday and be able to eat and drink as normal. If I skip the dose on the 22nd, will it be out of my system and will normal service resume? Has anyone done this?

Speaking as a life long yo yo dieter perhaps stash away a couple of your favourite larger clothes. Hopefully you won’t need them but if you do gain weight not having any clothes that fit makes you feel worse!

PlinkyPlonkyDonkey · 19/08/2024 08:44

Today I reached the milestone of being overweight instead of obese 🥳

This was the first mini goal I set myself - it's taken just over 7 weeks to lose 1 stone to get here.

I've lost two stone since April - the first stone took 3 months, using WeightWatchers and will power. The second stone took 7 weeks with MJ - so although it feels a bit sloooooow, it's actually quite fast, for me!

Another 2 stone to go to reach goal - maybe by Christmas...🎄

Sound advice, although I have discovered the top end of my wardrobe is full of uninspiring stretchy things that I have no wish to be reunited with. At my fattest I invest in shoes. 😉

GoSummer676 · 19/08/2024 09:29

@CheekySwan i don’t mean to sound tricky but using MJ is an opportunity to reset your relationship with food so just stopping so you can eat drink what you like isn’t really changing your habits for how you will live going forward. Yes I get on holiday it’s nice to have extras we all do but just doing what you did before won’t help in the long run? I went on holiday and ate smaller portions & more salad enjoyed not feeling driven by food and the holiday was more about being active & enjoying the change of scenery & pace of life with my family. I’m being devils advocate here so sorry if I’m out of step, and I really hope you enjoy a lovely holiday.

Has anyone else found any changes to their cycle since starting? My cycle had crept from my usual 28 day up to 35ish days which I suspect was down to weight gain. My cycle this month is back down to 28 days, but this month and last month has absolutely floored me!! The cramps are on par with early labour!!

Yes! I posted about this on another MJ thread a while back. Mine are now around every 2 weeks, heavy and the pain is out of this world - not sure if it's due to MJ though or just coincidental peri symptoms (I'm 50). Wish they'd feck off now, had enough of periods, I started when I was 10
