Good to hear all the updates and that people are still on this thread.

I have been completely off MJ for 3 weeks now (I still have one pen left in the fridge) and have not gain any weight... yeh! I am not calorie counting, just being mindful about what I eat and potion sizes. Most importantly, I am walking 15k steps a day come rain or shine. This, according to my health app, means with resting and active energy I am burning 1700 calories a day. So I am trying to use that as a gauge of how much I need to eat.

I got back from a walk at 9pm on Thursday and fancied a bag of crisps. I resisted and went to bed instead!

EternalFatalist · 18/05/2025 14:49

Hi all. I am still chugging along. I hit a long plateau, which was quite annoying, despite consistent exercise, lots of water, and diligent tracking of calories. I was still on 5mg and had good suppression, but decided to move up to 7.5mg and "poof"...2 lb loss. Yay! So I am now down 63 lbs (bye-bye 28.5% of my original body weight) since last July and am feeling great.

I've got another 30+ lbs to go, so I will keep at it. I'm glad to see that a lot of us are still on this wellness journey together.

SilenceInside · 18/05/2025 21:31

Nice to hear from a few more July peeps. @diian maintaining so far is brilliant, as well as being so active. Very inspiring and I hope I can emulate once I get to target.

@EternalFatalist I hope that moving to 10mg will start to shift things for me again after a bit of a slow down. I've still got about 50 pounds to go to get to target, I know I will get there but sometimes it's hard to be patient!

CLEO42 · 19/05/2025 19:56

Oooh, just found this thread again.
I started July, I’m on 15mg and am a v v v slow loser with only 2 stone lost but am feeling ok about that.

I’ve been relying on appetite suppression and fullness to stop overeating and really paying attention to how I feel about food and eating. I’ve made some gradual changes and swaps and have good habits and routines (I make my breakfast and lunch each evening ready for the next day, for example)

I’m desperate to do some exercise but have been suffering musculoskeletal issues - frozen shoulder and groin/hip/knee pain which is starting to resolve so I’m hoping to get exercise into my routine by the summer.

SW 17.1, size 20
CW 14.13, size 16
GW 12.5, size 12-14 - I’m tall, so BMI would be about 23 for this.

I expect to stay on MJ for another year

SilenceInside · 23/05/2025 11:24

Week 46 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 86.6kg (13st 8lbs), was 87.9kg (13st 11lbs) last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 10mg, 2 weeks on this dose.

A 1.3kg/2.9lbs loss this week which is great to see, I think it's safe to say that the 10mg has definitely helped. Absolutely no side effects either which is brilliant, after having had them when I moved up to 5mg and again on moving up to 7.5mg.

PlinkyPlonkyDonkey · 23/05/2025 23:46

I’ve been stuck on the same weight since FEBRUARY! Getting pretty grumpy about it now. Have lost 5 stone / 70 pounds and just half a stone to go to goal weight, and it’s just not happening 😖 Do I get an award for longest plateau?

EternalFatalist · 01/06/2025 22:04

Happy Sunday everyone. I spent a few hours this afternoon up in the loft, going through four crates of clothes that I finally acknowledged that I couldn't fit into a few years ago, and set aside to free up room in my wardrobes. Sadly, I still can't fit into 95% of the items, but now it's because they are too big. D'oh! I brought down about a dozen items that seemed fine, but I need to see how they look in the mirror. I'm so annoyed because there were a lot of things that I was looking forward to wearing. I can't believe that I missed my window. Mind you, it's more proof that this process is working.

My sympathies, that must be so frustrating! But to be so close to goal is amazing in itself. I guess your body is just fighting this last bit really hard. I have no suggestions, I can only imagine how annoying that must be!

I am in a bad place with MJ now. For two weeks, my normal dose of 5mg that I've been taking for four months with no problem suddenly brought on diarrhoea, vomiting and disgusting sulphur burps. No change in my diet, no change in the dose. It was awful.

So I skipped last week's dose altogether and went on holiday. A really active, busy holiday - 15k+ steps a day, cold water swimming, stayed hydrated, no snacking and no alcohol. Lots of salads, fresh fruit, veg, meat and fish. My indulgences over the week were one kid's portion of fish and chips, one hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and one sourdough pizza (not all on the same day!). My appetite didn't roar back off MJ, I was really pleased with how normal I felt - the new normal, I guess, where hunger and appetite feel reasonable and proportionate.

Well, I weighed myself this morning and I've gained 3lbs. My weight loss is never more than 1lb a week, so clearly I can gain at three times the rate I lose.

I am back on a 2.5mg dose of MJ and hoping the gastro symptoms don't come back. I feel trapped between a rock and a hard place - clearly, I cannot manage without this drug but I also cannot manage the gastrointestinal havoc that it can create. I still don't know why a 5mg dose suddenly started to disagree with me and I don't know if a 2.5mg dose is going to be enough to lose weight. I still have a BMI of 32 (thanks to this 3lb gain, it was 31 when I went away!) I have to lose a couple more stone and I have to find a way to keep it off.

SilenceInside · 02/06/2025 11:23

Hello July people 👋

I am a bit late with my weekly progress check as I was away for the half term and wasn't able to weigh, and I'm a couple of days late taking my injection too.

Week 47 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 85.7kg (13st 6lbs), was 86.6kg (13st 8lbs), last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal
Current pen: 10mg, 3 weeks on this dose.

I managed to do my three C25K runs this week, including the dread Week 5 Run 3 which is the first sustained chunk of running - 20 mins in one go. I am amazed that I managed it and really wouldn't have thought this time last year that it would be possible.

I have also bought several items in a size 16 from different retailers this week and all have fitted me, including jeans, which I am a bit surprised by and a teeny bit overwhelmed tbh. It really doesn't seem that long ago that I was looking at size 22 in as loose a fit that I could find, when I was probably a size 24 or higher in fitted clothing.

@PlinkyPlonkyDonkey how are you doing now with your plateau?

@EternalFatalist it's so frustrating to miss the moment with clothes that you've been hoping to wear! Any chance do you think of finding the same items on Vinted/eBay in a smaller size?

@WeepingInASunlitRoom the 3lb gain can't all be fat, some or all of it must be water and other fluctuations. It really doesn't seem like you could have over eaten by the amount needed to gain 3lbs of fat in a week. Sorry about the sudden onset of gastric side effects too, it seems so random sometimes when nothing else has changed. Fingers crossed that the lower dose will mean those symptoms stop and it's still effective for you. I suppose you could try doing an in-between dose, 3.75mg, by counting clicks maybe?

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 02/06/2025 13:38

You're right @silenceinside that it can't be 3lbs of fat, it's just dispiriting to see that numbers come up again on the scales that you think you've left behind - and so unfair that it leaps up like that but never down! I was 14st 13lbs on NYE and 13st 10lbs today so it's taken me the first half of the year to lose just over a stone. But at least that's a stone gone! I just need to find the sweet spot now where I can lose more but not suffer the gastro stuff.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 02/06/2025 15:55

Also the jeans! I am wearing size 16 jeans as well and agree with you, it's so odd. I remember this time last year not being able to get a single pair of jeans in the M&S I was in to zip up and I left empty-handed and miserable. Now the 16 Evas are feeling a bit loose. It is a real jolt, I know what you mean about it being a little overwhelming.

Mounjaroooooh · 03/06/2025 15:23

Haven't posted for a while but wanted to say I've now hit 6 stone lost..MJ has been a lifesaver for me and I'm so grateful. Still got half to a stone to go and I know it'll be slow but there's no rush and I'm in the normal weight category for the first time since my late teens 🙌

Massive well done to everyelse

What an amazing milestone! So happy to hear it.

It is incredible to look back on last July and see the difference MJ has made.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 07/06/2025 07:50

My 3lbs has come right back off again, hooray! I have felt distinctly snackier on 2.5mg - definitely that feeling of wanting to wander down to the kitchen as a break from work (I wfh) has been present. But it can't have been that bad, given this week's loss. Obviously proving you were very right @silenceinside that it wasn't fat, but probably water retention or similar.

Hope everyone else has a satisfying weigh-in this weekend!

SilenceInside · 07/06/2025 10:21

Week 48 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 85kg (13st 5lbs), was 85.7kg (13st 6lbs), last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 10mg, 4 weeks on this dose.

Another slightly late weigh in, as I'm working my way back to a Friday weigh in and injection day after delaying it due to being on holiday. Happy with a 07.kg/1.5 pound loss this week, bringing me to 8st 7lbs loss altogether, or 54kg. So far 10mg is doing a great job, no side effects and everything feels very even keel at the moment.

I have 4 weeks until I will have been on Mounjaro for a full year. I really want to get into the Overweight category by the end of those 4 weeks. I need to lose 5lbs to get to 13st or under to squeak into it. Feels like it might be possible.

@WeepingInASunlitRoom very glad that your 3 pounds have left the building, it's mad how much the scales can vary when it can't possibly be actual body fat going on and off.

@Mounjaroooooh congratulations on hitting the 6st mark and getting into the healthy weight category!

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 07/06/2025 14:38

That's great @silenceinside! I'm just behind you on 13st 6 and also need to get under 13 stone to be overweight. I'm on holiday the second week of August and would really like to be there by then, but I don't know - it probably depends on what I do in terms of the dose, and I have a very fluctuating pattern of weight loss. If it averages out at one pound a week, I might just get there - and either way, I was at the same resort at the same time last year and I was 17 stone something. Amazing to think a year later I'm looking at the low 13/high 12 stone bracket - a weight I don't believe I've been at since before my 11 year old was born!

SilenceInside · 13/06/2025 10:25

Week 49 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 84kg (13st 3lbs), was 85kg (13st 5lbs), last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 10mg, 5 weeks on this dose. A total of 55kg or 121 pounds lost so far.

Another 2lb/1kg down this week, which I am very happy with. The 10mg seems to have put me back on track after a slow down on the 7.5mg. I have lost 8 pounds already in the 5 weeks I've been on 10mg compared with 4 pounds on the previous 5 weeks on 7.5mg.

I am keeping up with the Couch to 5k, now on week 7 and running for 25 minutes non stop, which seems like some kind of miracle to me! The difference between now and 49 weeks ago is stark.

Having been through a period of feeling like this process was never ending and getting a bit fed up with it all, I am now super optimistic and I genuinely believe that I will be at a healthy weight soon. BMI is currently 30.5, another 3 pounds lost would tip me under 30 so I hope that will be in the next couple of weeks.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 13/06/2025 20:04

So great to hear it's going so well @SilenceInside! I am away this week so haven't weighed but it has been so lovely to see photos of myself at an event and be happy about them! I also bought a new bikini for an upcoming holiday and absolutely love it. So that's two NSVs I'm pleased with.

diian · 13/06/2025 21:52

I wore a pair of shorts today. First time in 6 years!

SilenceInside · 13/06/2025 22:01

@WeepingInASunlitRoom it’s still an instinct of mine to duck out of photos, I need to work on allowing them. Great that you have a bikini that you love in time for your holiday. 👙

@diian Shorts! Definitely the right kind of weather for them today, at least where I am.

I am usually a total grouch about summer, I get hay fever and used to hate the heat. Now I’m cold all the time I actually welcome the heat, but I’m still wearing layers, even when it was 25 degrees plus today! And I think my hay fever isn’t as bad this year, which is odd as I think there’s a lot of pollen around atm, but maybe it’s the Mounjaro?

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 15/06/2025 21:57

I am glad of all the photos @SilenceInside - we are trawling through a lot at the moment for a family thing and I have felt some complicated things looking at them all as I trace the years through diets and rebound weight gain and see myself blowing up and back down like a pair of bellows. But I'm grateful that I allowed them even when I felt bad about myself because there are so many happy moments captured and I would hate to not be in the record of those memories. We deserve to be there, whatever our size or what we think of how we look!

Mounjaroooooh · 15/06/2025 22:07

Thank you @SilenceInsideand @WeepingInASunlitRoomit's been a roller coaster but I'm almost at my personal goal and that in itself is amazing. I thank God for MJ, it's been a life changer for me, I couldn't have done it without it...I've tried many times.

SilenceInside · 20/06/2025 12:58

Week 50 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 83.2kg (13st 1lbs), was 84kg (13st 3lbs), last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 10mg, 6 weeks on this dose.

I am now 75% of the way to my original final target of 10st 4lbs. I have also lost just over 40% (8st 11lbs) of my starting weight , and my BMI is now 30.19. I am so close to squeaking under the 30 BMI figure! Really want to get there by my 1 year Mounjaro anniversary.

I might revise the 10st 4lbs final target when I get there, as it's a BMI of 23.7 so nearer the top end of healthy weight. I'll need to see how I feel about my body shape and remaining fat distribution and go from there.

diian · 20/06/2025 19:01

Wow! That is amazing @SilenceInside. I am sure you will get that 0.19 BMI off. Good luck.

It is a year for me next week and 2 months MJ free. I am 3.5 stone lighter than a year ago and look like a different person. I have managed to maintain...so far!

SilenceInside · 27/06/2025 10:50

Week 51 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 83.4kg (13st 1lbs), was 83.2kg (13st 1lbs), last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 10mg, 7 weeks on this dose.

Oh, so annoying to have a 200g "gain" although I will view it as staying the same, which is as equally annoying as a small gain. Will I ever break through the 13st and the 30 BMI barrier?!? Currently my body doesn't seem to want to. 😡

I will cling to NSVs this week. Ran for 30 mins non-stop this week, which seems incredible considering I was finding it a challenge to run for 3 minutes when I first started C25K. Also sat through sports day in full sun on a tiny primary school chair without worrying about breaking the chair, and wasn't a hot sweaty mess! Last year I actually googled the make of chair and checked the maximum weight capacity😬
