The first thread was almost full, so I thought I'd start a second so we can carry on the fab support!
I don't think I could manage tagging everyone!! But here is the link to the first thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5101435-mounjaro-july-2024?page=1

Thanks @diian I appreciate the encouragement, this "journey" is long and sometimes a bit dispiritingly slow.

It's really hard when you're hovering close to a new milestone and just can't seem to break through but the great thing about Mounjaro is knowing that it will happen...eventually! If I was on a diet without the injections, I would have given up so long ago. But through the slow parts of this, I feel sure that I'm always going in the right direction, even when I stall or reverse.

I hit a 4 stone total loss this morning! Just short of ten months on Mounjaro. It puts me at a BMI of 32, down from 41. From 18 stone 1lb to 14 stone 1lb. This is my lowest weight in five years and the point where I gave up and started regaining back in 2020 after I got stuck on this weight and was totally unable to get into the 13s. This time, I'll get there!

I have stayed with 5mg and the loss has really picked up again recently. I think the good weather makes it easier - both to be active and to eat less. The winter months make me really want stodge and carbs.

I do suddenly feel like my face is ageing a bit and I'm noticing skin that isn't quite loose but also not very firm on my stomach, eyelids and neck. I was hoping I'd get away with it, I'm 42 and every time I've lost weight before I've had no problems with loose skin at all. I think that's the issue though; I've gained and lost too many times in my life. It is making me very cautious to keep losing at a slow place so as not to make it worse.

SilenceInside · 04/04/2025 09:46

Me again! Still chugging along on my long old journey. 🚶🏃🚶

Week 39 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 90.5kg (14st 3 lbs), was 91.6kg (14st 5lbs) last week
GW: 90kg (14st 2 lbs) fourth interim goal.

Current pen: 7.5mg, 29 weeks on this dosage.

Pleasantly surprised by a 1.1kg loss this week, and even saw "89" flicker on the scales before it settled to the 90.5kg mark. It also puts me into Onderland as I am now 199.5 pounds. My goal for the Easter holidays is to keep focused and make sure I keep up with a decent amount of walking, whilst turning down any Easter "treats". Currently not interested in the slightest, when usually I'd have eaten many hot cross buns by this point!

NewLifter · 06/04/2025 21:55

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in ages. Nice to catch up and see how everyone is doing.

I'm still on my 5mg - had one pen of 2.5mg then did 3.75mg for 2 pens then gently titrated on up to 5mg. It's still working well for me.

Starting weight: 16 stone
Current weight: 11 stone 2lbs

My goal was 12stone 12lbs but I kept losing so changed it to 11st 7lbs and have lost a bit more since.

I really don't want to lose anymore as am a small size 10 which is quite slim for my height and build.

Need to adjust my thinking as I still find it hard to eat my full calories (psychologically, not physically).

I'm sure I will get there...

SilenceInside · 11/04/2025 09:02

@NewLifter nice to read an update, and congratulations on reaching your original goal and then your further goal weight. Maintenance is I think the harder part of the process really, as time will sort out the weight loss eventually. Then the challenge of maintenance begins. I hope it's working out for you and you're finding your way!

SilenceInside · 11/04/2025 09:11

Continuing my journey towards my final goal...

Week 40 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 89.7kg (14st 1 lbs), was 90.5kg (14st 3lbs) last week
GW: 90kg (14st 2 lbs) fourth interim goal.
New GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 7.5mg, 30 weeks on this dosage.

Really pleased to break the 90kg barrier and to consolidate being < 200 lbs, and to have hit my fourth interim goal! Now aiming for my fifth interim goal, another 10% of my current weight which would take me to 12st 11 lbs and a BMI in the Overweight category rather than Obese.

LucyBnotG · 11/04/2025 12:40

Lovely to see that there are still some of us plodding on from July. The time has flown and I'm amazed at what we have achieved.

@NewLifter @SilenceInside You've smashed your goals/interim goals! I'm so happy for you both. Do you have a plan or vision of what maintenance might look like?

I was talking to my sister about post mounjaro plans and I really don't have a solid plan yet. I'm hoping to see what I can achieve this year and go from there. Have either of you considered titrating down below the minimum dose or spreading the injections out further? I'm interested to hear people's ideas.

It's weigh day tomorrow but I'm currently 72.5lb down and my next interim goal is sub 200lbs too.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 12/04/2025 07:30

Interesting article in the Guardian today https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/apr/11/people-using-drug-mounjaro-sustain-weight-loss-over-three-years-trial-finds

Good news for the likelihood of sustaining weight loss, and the article implies that it's also likely that prescription guidelines will allow people to stay on the drug long term, and that research and development will continue with a focus on maintenance.

I also was interested that people reached their lowest weight on average 22 months in. I'd call myself a steady/slow loser but I've already lost well over 10% of my starting weight at ten months in and I still haven't gone above 5mg. The stats quoted in the piece suggest slower losers will lose a total of 9.2% and this doesn't correlate with my personal experience - but maybe I'm not as slow as I think, or maybe it's because I'm not increasing my dosage regularly. I certainly see myself as in this for the long haul, probably forever, and I'm reassured that the research is showing the weight loss seems sustainable.

I took the plunge and got rid of a LOT of clothes this week. I am terrified of regain; I've done it so many times before, so I was holding onto them for safety. I sincerely hope I never need them again.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 13/04/2025 08:17

My scales start with a 13 today! 13:13:8, just under 14 stone - for the first time in what I think might be twelve years. I didn't think I would ever in my life get under 14 stone again.

Yesterday I ordered jeans in a size 18 and had to send them back as too big. This time last year I was in a changing room utterly despairing because not one pair of jeans in a giant Marks and Spencer would zip up. Now I'm in 16s.

I feel completely overwhelmed with gratitude for Mounjaro, I cannot believe what it's given me back and how incredible this feels.

SilenceInside · 13/04/2025 08:26

@WeepingInASunlitRoom what a brilliant set of victories! I know exactly what you mean about the gratitude towards Mounjaro - it’s enabled me to step out of the total despair that anything would ever change about my weight and health.

The article about the long term weight maintenance is very interesting and I will be very keen to read more about it when the researchers present their work at the obesity conference next month. Hopefully the whole research paper will eventually be available to access online, assuming it will be peer reviewed and journal published at some point.

LucyBnotG · 15/04/2025 11:08

It will be interesting to see how the paper fairs at the peer review and I'm interested to read it after publication too. I'm trying hard to resist the confirmation bias when I see positive stats regarding Mounjaro but I would challenge the critics to deny that this medication is life changing for the people who need it the most. Like so many people, I was completely without hope when I started and I had no idea how much it would improve my life.

@WeepingInASunlitRoom that's amazing! What an achievement. I feel like the fashion choices open up for us as soon as we dip below size 18. I've been enjoying being able to pick up 16s in certain shops too.

diian · 15/04/2025 22:53

Such great achievements on this thread. Well done @WeepingInASunlitRoom

SilenceInside · 18/04/2025 09:38

Another week another weigh in and jab.

Week 41 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 88.6kg (13st 13lbs), was 89.7kg (14st 1bs) last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 7.5mg, 31 weeks on this dosage.

A couple of milestones reached this week. Finally into the 13 stone bracket which feels truly surreal. I have not been this weight for a very long time. I have also lost 50kg since I started Mounjaro. Which seems a lot!!

SilenceInside · 25/04/2025 11:36

Week 42 weigh in, for the record.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 88.1kg (13st 12lbs), was 88.6kg (13st 13bs) last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 7.5mg, 32 weeks on this dosage.

A 0.5kg loss this week, a pound. Takes me to a round 8 stone loss since starting on Mounjaro. Again this week the scales said 87 point something earlier in the week, but I have definitely learnt not to rely on mid week weigh ins!

diian · 25/04/2025 14:18

@SilenceInside Wow! 8 stone.. that is amazing!!! Congratulations 💝You must feel fantastic.

SilenceInside · 25/04/2025 14:24

Thanks @diian It's weird though because it's cumulative, so this week I lost 1 pound which is not particularly amazing in itself. But it all adds up.

I feel a lot less stressed all round, I don't have any health niggles or random aches and pains anywhere and I am not embarrassed constantly about what I look like. It makes a massive difference to my day to day well being. I can also just do so much more, physically as well.

diian · 25/04/2025 19:18

@SilenceInside It is strange weight-loss. When I lost the first 2 stone, I was still wearing the same clothes. It showed on the scales, but not me! I started at 13st 4 and hit goal at 10st 8 (October half term). I have been taking a maintenance dose of 2.5mg weekly (from a 5mg pen- I stockpiled 4 of them). Since Oct, I have lost another stone so I am now 9st 8.5. Someone said weight loss is like a kitchen roll. You take a few sheets off and you don't notice, but as the roll gets thinner, removing one sheet makes a big difference. Last week I bought a size 8 dress for my son's graduation. What a difference a year makes!

I had my NHS 50+ health check last week. My blood pressure, cholesterol, heart health and BMI were all excellent. My poor dad had had a quadruple heart by-pass by the time he was 52 years old. I feel very blessed to have found WLI threads on MN done so well with Mounjaro.

SilenceInside · 25/04/2025 19:29

Great results on the health check, @diian and a size 8! Wow.

I had a BP medication review in October, including a blood test. Even though I’d only been on Mounjaro for 3 months or so, all the results were fine. My BP is now optimal, still on medication but perhaps that might change in the future as I get towards my target weight.

LongDuckDong · 25/04/2025 19:53

I'm so dejected.
I started at 128kg and today i am at 117kg. Great that I have lost 11kg and I can see it but I don't understand why I am losing so slowly.
Started with Voy and not impressed with the support so changed to Juniper and there is no real support there either. Does anyone have any suggestions for who to change to next, perhaps even without the support as I would imagine it would save me a few pennies.

SilenceInside · 25/04/2025 20:04

@LongDuckDong I’m probably not much help as I actively don’t want support from a supplier. What sort of support were you hoping for?

If you’re looking for low cost, I’d just check on https://monj.co.uk and see who is the cheapest for the dose that you’re on. They also say which pharmacies offer additional support on the comparison table.

SilenceInside · 02/05/2025 09:34

Week 43 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 88.8kg (13st 13lbs), was 88.1kg (13st 12lbs) last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 7.5mg, 33 weeks on this dosage.

So, a 1 pound or so gain. Not what I was hoping for! No idea why I've not lost this week, as nothing has changed in terms of diet and I started Couch to 5K this week too. Which means more exercise than usual. A bit of a disappointing puzzler.

SilenceInside · 09/05/2025 09:57

Week 44 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 87.9kg (13st 11lbs), was 88.8kg (13st 13lbs) last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 7.5mg, 34 weeks on this dose.

Back to downwards progress after last week's small gain.

LucyBnotG · 09/05/2025 13:20

@SilenceInside

That's a happy update. You're doing so well. 🙂

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 17/05/2025 11:40

I know it's all gone quiet here, but I like to see your updates @silenceinside especially as we're at similar weights and I like seeing how consistent you are! I have been trundling on, still on 5mg and losing slow and steady with regular stalls - but it's felt very manageable.

However, out of the blue I have had a vicious return of sulphur burps and diarrhoea out of nowhere. I haven't increased my dose, I took jab 3 out of my pen on Tuesday and then last night the burps started and I was up all night.

I've been travelling a lot for work and it's thrown all my eating and exercise patterns out the window. I was somewhere hot and lovely and actually did tons of walking and swimming and ate lots of salads and fresh fruits last week but in general with the pace of things, I have taken my eye off the ball food-wise so definitely I think more fatty foods and restaurant meals have been a factor. Plus terrible sleep and more wine than I'm used to. So I'm hoping it's just that, and this is a reminder to reset my patterns. I have grown so used to MJ and don't ever feel like I'm dieting, it's been so easy to eat according to appetite. I need to get back to meal planning.

In terrible timing, I had just ordered a 7.5mg pen thinking it was probably time to increase the dose, so I will be counting clicks and sticking to 5mg out of that pen I think, until I'm sure these side effects have gone away and my stomach is settled! Does anyone know how many clicks to get 5mg from a 7.5 pen? I will go looking for the chart.

SilenceInside · 17/05/2025 11:53

Ah, realised I haven’t updated this week. Probably because I am a bit grumpy at having stayed the same weight this week. So,

Week 45 weigh in

CW: 87.9kg (13st 11lbs)
GW: 81kg (12st 11lbs)

Really interesting to read your update @WeepingInASunlitRoom especially regarding moving up a dose. I’ve just received my first 10mg pen as I feel that my weight loss has slowed down to very very slow. I’ve just done a 10mg fifth dose from my last 7.5mg pen so I’ll see how that goes this week.

Sorry to hear about the sudden side effects, it absolutely could be due to the changes in eating due to being away. Hopefully a week of meal planning will reset everything and calm it all down. Regarding doing 5mg from a 7.5mg pen, it would be 40 clicks. 5mg is two thirds of 7.5mg, so two thirds of 60 clicks is 40 clicks, but please check my maths and my reasoning!

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 17/05/2025 12:07

Yes I think the slowing is normal - and I have been fine with it, but it definitely does get frustrating to stay the same and dispiriting to gain. Increasing the dose is the way to go, hope you do well on 10mg! I have got used to my slow progress as a) I know I need to take this medication for life so I'm prepared to pay every month anyway and b) I am trying to avoid loose skin as too many experiences of yoyoing up until now has definitely cost me some elasticity. But now I can feel that 5mg isn't quite working the same anymore so it's time, assuming side effects are manageable!

I also make it 40 clicks, thank you! I'll do a gradual build to get to 7.5 I think.
