The first thread was almost full, so I thought I'd start a second so we can carry on the fab support!
I don't think I could manage tagging everyone!! But here is the link to the first thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5101435-mounjaro-july-2024?page=1

Mounjaroooooh - sorry that you have been so unwell, really hope you have been able to get some sleep and are feeling a little better now.

Thank you, managed a few hours sleep and haven't been to the loo for a few hours now so it's easing off, still feeling nauseous though. Zero appetite today which I suppose is a good thing.

Forgot to post my weigh in result yesterday morning, another 2 lbs off so that's 29 lbs in 10 weeks, not the fastest like some on here but it's steady. Do I wish it was more, yes, but for the first time in a while it feels achievable now I'm into the 12's.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 09/09/2024 09:42

Glad you're a bit better @Mounjaroooooh - my symptoms were worse through the night when I was having them, which is really horrible. It's terrible when you just want to sleep and have to keep getting up to be ill.

I am eight days out from my last injection, I will probably inject again tomorrow but I have zero appetite too and I don't feel like it's a good thing at all. For one thing, it's miserable and also it doesn't feel productive. I want to be hungry for food and to eat well and nourish myself. I am trying to think now of anything I can bring myself to eat but nothing in my house is remotely appealing and I can't think what would be.

Flowersandbubblegum · 10/09/2024 08:05

I never thought I'd see the day, I fit in size 14 jeans! I was 18/20 when I started and I'm been such a slow loser no big drops, but I guess it all does add up.

We need another thread, for clothes bundles we grow out of, and grow in to.

I know someone out there will no longer need size 14's as they're in 10s, and my 18's will be good for someone who was in 24's.

Mounjaro vinted ha xx

KeepinOn · 10/09/2024 11:16

Congrats, @Flowersandbubblegum ! Slow and steady really does win the race. :)

How are you doing, @Mounjaroooooh ?

I've been listening to a doctor in the States about the amazing effects these GLP1s have on our bodies. She was saying if you are having bad side effects the dose is too high. If you're experiencing weight loss and feeling well, there's no point in increasing the dose. So although I'm feeling hungrier earlier in the week, I'm also keen to avoid any serious side effects. So that's me changing my mind about increasing my dose again, hah.

Mounjaroooooh · 10/09/2024 11:32

It's a great feeling isn't it @Flowersandbubblegum

@KeepinOn I was feeling OK but I had a cereal bar earlier and it's made me feel really queasy, I've brought leftover chicken pasta for lunch and I'm really not feeling it. What are we supposed to do in these situations, force ourselves to eat something or just not bother?

I totally agree with what you're saying, the suppression was wearing off earlier for me on 5mg but how I'm feeling on 7.5mg is awful, just nauseous all the time. I could live with the no appetite as that's kind of the point I guess, but the feeling sick constantly I could really live without

KeepinOn · 10/09/2024 11:35

Definitely sounds like the dose is too high for you. :( Sorry you're struggling, I hope it passes quickly.

LucyBnotG · 10/09/2024 13:07

I've been joining in with a couple of different MJ threads and getting used to MN as I'm fairly new. I was a late July starter so I'm hoping to join in with this thread and see how everyone is doing.

Like so many, I have struggled with my weight forever and this was not a decision I made lightly. At some point I will share my start and current weight but I'm still very ashamed with how high the number got (again).

I injected my 8th dose of 2.5mg on Saturday and I'm going to continue with 2.5mg for as long as it's working well enough. I have had a few tolerable side effects and have lost 20lbs so far.

Mounjaroooooh · 10/09/2024 13:22

KeepinOn · 10/09/2024 11:35

I hope so too! I think bland foods are the way to go over the next few days and just wait and see

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 10/09/2024 13:26

That's interesting @KeepinOn and definitely in line with what I'm feeling anyway. I just took a 2.5mg injection with great trepidation as although the terrible side effects of 5mg had passed, I still have no appetite and I hate that. To me, it's the opposite of the point - the point as far as I can see is to take the edge off and remove the urge to binge but not to blank out appetite altogether as that's in no way helpful for the long term - and the long term is what I care about. I have come round to the idea that slow and steady is great, and food is an important part of life that I want to learn to live with in the best way possible. A major part of that is giving me the energy to exercise, work and enjoy myself - and a life with a dead appetite and no energy is not worth any kind of weight loss to me.

Anyway, I left it nine days and then had to decide whether I was skipping this week altogether, or taking the jab and I took it - very carefully counting 30 clicks of the 5mg pen! I thought if I missed a dose, then the 2.5 might give me side effects next week if my body had too long a break and I am just really crossing my fingers that doing a 2.5 jab this week won't bring back the ill effects. If it does, I think I will quit MJ altogether. I'm nearly two stone down, but only at a BMI of 38 from 41 at the start so there is still a long way to go but there is no way I will tolerate the kind of gastrointestinal chaos of last week again! I'll have to find a way to keep going without it if that happens again.

I just really hope I can get back to what I had on 2.5 - no gastrointestinal stuff, plenty of energy to exercise and a healthy feeling appetite.

BamberGirl · 11/09/2024 09:27

Hi All

forgot to update for last week or so.
I have stayed on 2.5 mg had 10 doses now.
i have defo had a plateau for the last 2 weeks, been 76.something kg. Finally dropped below the 76 mark this week (75.9) so hoping this start of a downhill run.

i have bought a 5mg pen but planning to do 3.75 mg at most by counting clicks.

on the 2.5 mg I still have good suppression though it wanes at the weekend, this suits me though as means of we go out I can eat reasonably but without going mad.

sorry to hear some of you have had a rough time with side effects, @WeepingInASunlitRoom hopefully the 2.5 mg will work better for you. I defo am having the experience you are describing of suppression but feeling fine and eating healthily.

BamberGirl · 11/09/2024 21:23

@diian
that's amazing…well done!
Are you planning to reduce your dose and stop slowly once you reach your goal?

PlinkyPlonkyDonkey · 11/09/2024 23:28

Had very minimal side effects on 2.5 and 5mg. My first 7.5mg dose surprised me though - on Day 3 after the jab, I was absolutely wiped out - I had a 5 hour nap!! Then on day 8, I got the runs (only a bit of constipation before now). I've put off my second dose from this pen, will maybe do it tomorrow (9 days since last jab) but will count clicks for 6mg I think - family party on Saturday for husband's birthday, so can't be creeping off for another mega-nap!

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 12/09/2024 07:11

I have intense fatigue this week @PlinkyPlonkyDonkey to the extent I'm wondering if I've caught covid again (had it multiple times before and my first symptom last time was needing a five hour nap between school runs!) but I did feel like this on my very first week of MJ so it might be that even though I've moved back down to 2.5mg. It's better than stomach-armaggedon but it's the second week in a row I've felt really out of action and found it hard to work. I hope you feel better for the party!

Thank you Blush
I think it could have been a combination of the higher dose, work stress, and having overdone it a bit in terms of several very low calorie intake days (very strong suppression) and increasing my exercise (doing a 10,000 steps/day charity challenge) - I think my body just went 'nope!' on Saturday. Have counted clicks to reduce down to 6mg for this week's dose

Lumirubin · 12/09/2024 23:15

I'm having the most bizarre pattern of side effects at the moment. I moaned enough last week about my tummy upset so apologies, but I usually inject on a Saturday and last week the diarrhoea hit me on the Wednesday and lasted until the Saturday morning. Prior to the upset on the Wednesday I hadn't really been experiencing suppression the same as I would and almost felt like I hadn't taken it. I didn't inject until Monday because I wanted to be sure I was free of the upset before I had my dose. So I injected on Monday, and again haven't felt much suppression or side effects but have continued to eat the small healthy portions I've become used to so all good. Except now my stomach is going wild and I'm fairly certain I'm going to wake in the night with the same symptoms as last week, same time frame as last week for onset too. The sulphur burps have started with vengeance tonight and the redness I usually get around my injection site has only flared up today. It's almost like my body hasn't metabolised the drug until now! I do think some of it may have gone intradermal this week rather than subcutaneous as I had a little lump under my skin after I injected. I'm mostly just rambling now! But it's definitely got me thinking about how my body is metabolising the drug at the moment!

Hope everyone is getting on ok

@WeepingInASunlitRoom your experience is very similar to mine. I’m in my third week of 5mg and it’s not agreeing with me at all. Total suppression, the thought of eating makes me feel sick and I can still taste last night’s dinner in my stomach the next morning.
2.5 was a dream, just enough suppression to take the edge off.

Today I was up in the night with diarrhoea, which is a new symptom for me. But worst of all is that I was already prone to acid reflux and have taken medication for it for years, and it’s gone totally out of control. Which makes sense as slowed digestion is going to mean stomach keeps pumping out acid to get on with the job.

Also cooking for the family is making me nauseous too.

I think I’m just going to stop. I suppose I could just do 2.5mg from my final dose in this pen (due on Monday) but I think maybe I can just keep up with my new healthy eating habits without help.

I’ve lost a stone, BMI has gone from 30 to 27 so it absolutely has worked for me. I’ve really shaken my old routine of wine and chocolate and (on 2.5) was feeling much more inclined to exercise. I would love to lose another stone and get out of the “overweight” range and down to a size 12, but not in a way that makes me feel unwell.

Let’s hope I can keep it up!

Garlicandchilli · 13/09/2024 07:31

Hello! Do you have to eat low carb / high protein with this or can you just eat a reduced calorie diet of everything you’d normally eat (good or bad)?

The diet is up to you. The Mounjaro just makes it easier to stick to it.

You do need to change your eating habits to lose weight, but it happens automatically because appetite is reduced.

deleteitforpro56 · 13/09/2024 07:53

I have massively screwed up.

I got the 5mg pen months ago and was counting clicks 2.5mg

I did 20 clicks only last week (trying to wean off it) and felt nothing.

Wednesday this week I tried 30 . It was coming to the end of the pen and so I had to squeeze extra hard. I must have miscounting and done too many.

I was completely fine Wednesday.

Thursday I have non stopped vomiting (with diarrhea). It was so aggressive

I still don't feel good today.

I am not new to the pens and have been using on and off right from the start of ozempic.

I have never ever experienced anything like yesterday

JaneFallow · 13/09/2024 09:01

100g off a big milestone this morning; had really wanted to see a number starting with 8 today....

SilenceInside · 13/09/2024 10:13

@deleteitforpro56 I hope you're feeling better, it's a bit of a shock when you get unexpected side effects like that when it's been alright beforehand. I had one day like that halfway through my second pen (5mg) and seriously considered stopping, but it did calm down quickly.

@JaneFallow It's soo frustrating when you're so close to another milestone. You'll definitely hit it next week, I'm sure.

Friday weigh-in day for me today too, it's now been 10 weeks on Mounjaro.

SW: 139kg (21st 12lbs)
CW: 119.6kg (18st 11lbs)
GW: 112kg (17st 9lbs)

That's a total of 19.4 kg down, or 43lbs, and a loss of 1.8kg/4lbs this week. Slightly annoyed as I had been showing about 0.5kg lower when weighing yesterday and the day before but I guess that's just daily fluctuations. Can't be disappointed with a 4lb loss this week and getting into the 18stone bracket. Roll on the seventeens!

JaneFallow · 13/09/2024 12:54

That's a brilliant loss, @SilenceInside - congratulations. I was looking at my holiday bag being weighed at airport check-in and thinking that I'd almost lost the same amount. Given that felt a lot to lift in and out of the boot of the car, it does make me value the visceral relief of not lugging quite so much around every day!

I have rare meal out tonight. Whilst I'll eat carefully, I don't think tomorrow will be the day the scale magically tips below my mini target.

SilenceInside · 13/09/2024 13:16

@JaneFallow it's crazy when you look at what the equivalent weight is. I've lost almost 20kg which is more than most airlines allow for carry-on luggage. It's about the same as an adult border collie apparently! Also the classic 20 x 1kg bags of sugar. I don't think I could pick up 20 bags of sugar and carry them. No wonder my knees have stopped hurting and I can walk much further and faster than before.
