The first thread was almost full, so I thought I'd start a second so we can carry on the fab support!
I don't think I could manage tagging everyone!! But here is the link to the first thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5101435-mounjaro-july-2024?page=1

I did a mid week weigh this morning and have officially lost 3st 11lbs now. Desperate to get that last 3lbs off to get to 4 stone before I have to come off, although I'm confident in myself that I can continue to loose weight even without MJ because I've changed so many habits!

KeepinOn - Well done, not only on your weight loss but also on your health improvements.

KeepinOn · 31/10/2024 14:25

Thanks, it definitely is another reason to feel happy I've made the decision to use MJ.

Claz88 · 01/11/2024 14:45

Wow thats amazing! I haven't managed to lose as much as you but I've lost 2lb each week so it's adding up.

Have you all thought about maintenance doses? Or do you think that you would have shrunk your appetite enough to stick to it?

KeepinOn · 01/11/2024 15:10

I'm only about halfway to goal (a few lbs under top end of healthy BMI) so it's still a way off for me, but I plan to move down to 2.5 again and stay on it for 2 full years. I'm expecting by then there will be a more widespread protocol in place for maintenance too. Places are doing it now, and my prescriber is happy to create a tailored approach for me. So I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

It's very interesting to hear about the impact MJ has on addictive behaviour in general, as well as those with ADHD - I am an unmedicated ADHDer and use food when dopamine seeking, so it makes sense I'm feeling less cravings for those foods. Looking forward to learning more as time goes on.

LittleLlama · 03/11/2024 07:21

I have had a positive week this week. Exercising a little more and ensuring that my diet contains plenty of protein. In terms of weight loss I have continued to make steady progress with a 0.7kg loss.

So progress is

Week 1 - 4
Total loss on 2.5mg = 5.3kg

Week 5 - 13
Total loss on 5.0mg = 5.8kg

Week 14 -18
Total loss on 6.0mg = 2.3kg

Total weight loss = 13.4kg

I am sticking with 6.0mg dose, as this gives me good appetite suppressant with little side effects. My energy levels are good, despite the cold weather. I am walking, rather than using the car. I am also developing a much more positive attitude toward food, cooking more from scratch and eating less salt. Another thing which is improving is my balance and posture, I went ice skating this week (which I haven’t done in many many years) and enjoyed it. I can’t say I was any good but at least I had the confidence to give it a go. 18 weeks ago I know I would have just avoided this kind of event.

Looking forward to next week as we have a city break planned. Hope everyone else has a good week

JaneFallow · 03/11/2024 08:16

Us unmedicated ADHDers with a complicated relationship to food due to dopamine deficit should stay in touch and alert each other to research findings as they come through?

Lumirubin · 03/11/2024 09:37

@JaneFallow I'm up for that!

Still here… plodding on in about week 18 I think, have lost about 22lbs and not one person has commented 😆
which actually I don’t mind and I think it’s because I was this weight probably not that long ago - in the last year to 18 months probably. BMI has gone from 34.7 to 30.8 😊

am currently on 4.16ml (50 clicks of 5ml) as 5mg didn’t agree with me.

constipation is biting in a big way, and in a way it hadn’t previously, I do also have piles so need to be a bit careful.

any tips on what’s best to take?

I think I’m having thirst suppression as well as appetite so know I need to work hard at drinking enough water.

SilenceInside · 08/11/2024 10:38

Hello to everyone from July that's still plodding on. A progress update, after not doing one last week. I had some issues with really painful trapped wind last week and delayed my injection for 3 days as a result. It's all settled down now thankfully.

Current stats:
SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 108kg (17st 0 lbs)
GW: 100kg (15st 11lbs) third interim goal.

I have made progress over the two weeks, but it was all in the first week. My weight has actually slightly gone up from last week, was 107kg ish and now just about exactly 108kg, so down 1.6kg from my previous progress check. Not sure why, perhaps delaying last week's injection has had an impact. I've not changed what I've been eating. I have been doing more walking to increase my daily activity but I was not expecting that to result in a weight increase.

Nothing to be done other than to keep on at it. I still have well over another 40kg to lose so I've got to focus on the long haul.

KeepinOn · 08/11/2024 10:53

Just plodding on here, also. I've plateaued these past couple of weeks, and made the decision to move up to 7.5mg as a result. I've been very hesitant about moving up, but I've been experiencing a drop in suppression and I've struggled with that. No bad side effects from the 7.5 so far. I know there may be some people reading this who like to crow about 'the hunger coming back' when people stop taking MJ, and it does concern me, but I'm just going to keep at it. This is the road I'm taking, and the goal is still a fair way off. One step in front of the other.

Lumirubin · 08/11/2024 18:22

I'm the same with the plodding. Still loosing but only about a lb a week. I'm 3st 12lbs down now. Probably starting fertility treatment in Feb so only going to take 2/3 more doses of MJ. I'm thinking about going for 10mg this week as I've been on 7.5 the last 2 weeks with zero side effects and not a great deal of suppression tbh

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 08/11/2024 21:25

Plodding as well! Still losing, my weight fluctuates like crazy but overall the curve is going down and my clothes are getting looser and I feel a kind of peace in the knowledge that the weight will keep coming off. I am doing 48 clicks of a 5mg pen and don't think I'll ever get higher - I find it startling to think I can't manage the 'therapeutic dose' but going up to 48 clicks gives me these horrible waves of nausea every so often and I hate it so I'm definitely not going to increase.

I am marvelling truly at how calm and peaceful I feel around food all the time and how different it makes my life feel. The change is incredible.

MounjaroMunchie · 09/11/2024 21:35

I'm still here, and definitely in the plodding club!

I weighed in this morning with a loss of 0.8lbs, taking me to a total loss of 25.6lbs over 19 weeks. Some days, I'm disappointed with that and half wonder if I could do this without the MJ, and then I give myself a dose of reality. No way would I have stuck to ANY diet for 19 weeks, let alone done so without any real desire to slip!

I'm finding that the MJ is keeping me motivated in the gym, too. I've stuck to a program of fairly heavy lifting for 16 weeks now and although I still have lots of subcutaneous fat and loose skin, I am starting to see real changes in my body after training hard. And this could also be a factor in slow losses - I'm building muscle, which is bloody hard in a calorie deficit!

SW - 12st 7.0lb
CW - 10st 9.4lb
GW - 9st

9st will still have me overweight at 4'10", but I really can't see me getting any lower than that without having skin removal surgery. I'll see how it goes as I get a bit closer, and probably end up revising that target.

KeepinOn · 13/11/2024 10:20

Weighed myself this morning - 600g away from being merely overweight! Still another 15kg to go after that to get into normal BMI, but I'm also going to keep a closer eye on my height to waist ratio and use that to judge how I'm doing also.

But! I've lost over 16kg so far, which means I'm more than halfway to goal since beginning of July. Not bad at all.

SilenceInside · 15/11/2024 11:19

Hello again to everyone still going from the July starters 👋

Current stats:
SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 106kg (16st 9 lbs)
GW: 100kg (15st 11 lbs) third interim goal.

I've bounced back from a slight gain last week, and had a bit of a whoosh down again losing almost 2kg this week. The gain last week was probably time of the month related, which is worth remembering as I continue on. I'm still on 7.5mg, having done 8 weeks on it so far, and it's still working well for me. Feel like I'm making good progress towards my third interim goal, it seems like it's almost within reach now!

KeepinOn · 15/11/2024 11:28

You've done amazingly well, @SilenceInside ! Congratulations.

Lumirubin · 16/11/2024 09:35

Well done silence!

I've been plodding but not really moving. Id worked up slowly back to 7.5 after my holiday but didnt really have my head in the game. I had a week where I just didn't take the injection because I had lots on socially and didn't want any side effects. But I've given myself an end date for MJ before I start my fertility treatment meaning I have 4 weeks left! So I've upped to 10mg to try and push as close to my target as possible in them 4 weeks. I'm currently 1stone 2lbs away so it's not entirely impossible! But probably improbable haha. If I get break through the ceiling into the 13st bracket I'll be happy!

So for accountability
SW 18st 1lbs
CW 14 st 3lbs
GW 13st (or as close as possible in 4 weeks!)

MounjaroMunchie · 16/11/2024 10:03

I'm so excited and hopeful for you starting your treatment @Lumirubin . I'm wishing you the best of luck with both journeys, I know what it's like to struggle with weight and fertility. 💐

I have weighed in this morning with a 1.2lb loss, updated stats below. I'm feeling good on 7.5mg but have ordered 10mg for my next pen, on the basis that I can titrate up slowly if it doesn't suit me straightaway.

SW - 12st 7.0lb
CW - 10st 8.2lb
GW - 8st 11.0lb (interim - this will still have me overweight)

The start weight above was the beginning of me on MJ but at my heaviest (Sep 2020) I weighed 17st 9lb so today's weigh-in means I've hit a total loss of 40% of my original body weight. Getting to 8st 11lb will mean I've lost 50% and be literally half the person that I used to be!

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 16/11/2024 10:31

I have been up all night with an unexpected recurrence of sulphur burps and diarrhoea so feeling pretty rotten. I think I might be the only person on the thread who hasn't even made it to 5mg let alone higher! I'd worked up to doing 48 clicks of the 5mg pen and have been on that for three weeks without being ill but now I'm thinking of going back down to 40 clicks as that seems to be what I can consistently tolerate. Weight loss is slow, but it's still happening. Work has been really so I have only been making it to the gym once a week, when things slow down I'm really going to try to get that back up to where I was before this hectic period as I'm worried about getting loose skin and want to do my best to keep things as firm as I can!

It's really inspiring to see the journeys that have happened on here - @Lumirubin it's amazing that you're moving on to fertility treatment! And @mounjaromunchie 40% of your body weight is an unbelievable achievement! I feel so different to this time last year, and so glad that none of my old winter clothes fit - this year I am more energetic, I haven't caught so many colds (touch wood) and I feel so much more at peace with my body. I've never eaten so well for so long and I really feel like food is a positive part of my life now, not a battle.

JaneFallow · 16/11/2024 12:15

Congrats to all.

Today I have broken into 70s - this is officially the home straits (started in mid-July at 104.5 kgs). Haven't gone above 6ml, have been eating healthily, am not tormented by food noise, have upped my exercise, am enjoying a great sense of mental clarity and feel really well.

Just a few hundred grammes off a 4 stone loss. Would also be a fraction off a healthy BMI had a nurse not measured me this week and reduced my height by 5cms on their last measurement! Can't be right I've shrunk that much! Bit of a downer!

diian · 16/11/2024 18:17

Good to hear all the updates and great losses. Good luck @Lumirubin with the fertility treatment.

I have been maintaining for nearly a month. I take a weekly dose of 2.5mg from a 5mg pen. I have actually lost another 2.5lb (now 10st 5.5lb) although eating relatively normally... just not over-eating; I stop when I am full which is a big difference to pre-MJ.

I am averaging 10,000 steps a day. Last year I did an average of 7,000 steps a day. That means I will have walked over a million steps more this year!!

LittleLlama · 16/11/2024 21:17

Back from my holiday, and I expected to have gained a little weight but have actually managed to lose a little..?? Not sure how! Continuing to stick with 6.0mg dose, as this gives me good appetite suppressant with little side effects.

So progress is

Week 1 - 4
Total loss on 2.5mg = 5.3kg

Week 5 - 13
Total loss on 5.0mg = 5.8kg

Week 14 -20
Total loss on 6.0mg = 3.1kg

Total weight loss = 14.2kg

Starting to look forward to Christmas and seeing the wider family. I have already bought a Christmas outfit, which is not entirely black! I have so many black clothes it is ridiculous! I am also going to treat myself to some new underwear as my bras, in particular, are looking a little pathetic. Fortunately, it was my birthday recently and I have some gift vouchers.

Good luck everyone for the next week!

JaneFallow · 17/11/2024 12:36

Have dreamt about food for two nights in a row, last night about the dilemma of whether or not to eat a single sweet (a fruit salad chew!). God knows what is going on in my unconscious! Has anyone else had this?

BamberGirl · 18/11/2024 09:37

Hello all
sorry I’ve not posted for ages but thought I would also update.

Ive just hit 70 kg (11 stone exactly) so am v chuffed. I’d like to get down to 10 st 7 and maintain around that as I think that is realistic for my age. i started at 13 st 4 though was 13st 7 at my heaviest.

am loving how my clothes feel and also have a whole new wardrobe courtesy of all the clothes that didn’t fit me any more!!

@WeepingInASunlitRoom
ive also stayed on a low dose, mostly 2.5 mg with some weeks at 3.75 and I did up to 5 mg last week as felt I’d been stuck around 71/72kg for a few weeks, back to 3.75 mg today.

i wanted to lose slowly and also I inject on a Monday, I find that by the weekend I can eat a meal but still having good food noise suppression. I haven’t told my family so this way is less obvious. I’m also hoping that I am learning to change my habits by not having full suppression. Success yesterday as bought a big tub of quality street as in offer when shopping. Are a few but didn’t scoff loads like a would have done before…big win!!

anyway it’s great to see that everyone is doing well even if slowly. And exciting news re the fertility treatment @Lumirubin
