Thought it might be a nice idea for a thread to log our daily food plus current dose to help each other and newbies with ideas

@Theredjellybean don't panic! I was following the Fast800 before starting and my loss stalled on that with me losing and gaining the same pound for a couple of weeks! I was also hungry and picking at bits and drinking wine every day. Like everyone, I considered certain foods 'treats' and deprived when I couldn't have them. I also thought about food
ALL
THE
TIME!

Now, all gone! I am sleeping better, full on what I eat, not drinking and best of all, I rarely think about what I’m going to eat next! I have lost 16lbs in the last 4 weeks and am feeling evangelical about this stuff!!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 18/07/2024 14:26

@Summerhillsquare was that at me? I listed my protein as a good way for me to keep track and because it is known that protein fills you up more, helps prevent muscle loss and can help prevent hair loss! Your diet should focus around healthy, lean proteins.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 18/07/2024 14:28

And fruit and veg and complex carbs obvs!

QueenOfHiraeth · 18/07/2024 15:18

@Summerhillsquare It is generally advised to ensure you get enough protein when taking MJ, firstly to fill you up and secondly, to try to minimise muscle loss.
I was told to aim for 100g per day by my nutritionist although some people say lower (I am a large woman though which may contribute to that amount!)

Callmejudith · 18/07/2024 16:29

As we’re generally eating less calories we have to be very careful to eat the right things as protein is absolutely key to ensuring limited muscle loss.

I also do a lot of heavy weightlifting so protein is extremely important.

Theredjellybean · 18/07/2024 14:18

I'm thinking about starting it but reading what done people are eating..I'm already eating less than that...

Are you following a particular plan?

The huge advantage for me of MJ is no snacking or picking. I haven’t had a snack in a month, no Diet Coke, only one coffee per day, zero takeaways. I’d have never done that alone. Though my meals were generally healthy my snacking was not, I drank too much booze and the weekends were a disaster!

This is a great idea - today so far as a place marker ..

B: decaf black coffee
L: slice of sourdough, 1 x scrambled egg, black bean and pepper salad, square of dark choc
D: don't know yet

I don't count cals or macros, need to make sure I am getting enough protein though, so thinking of starting protein shakes soon but will make my own.

TheShellBeach · 18/07/2024 17:07

Week 5 Bonus dose 4.6 mg (don't ask! 🤦‍♀️😩)

I have breakfast with a friend every Thursday so this will probably be back next week too 😁

B: one sausage, one slice of bacon, one fried egg, one slice of black pudding. Pot of green tea.

Don't NEED to eat again but knew I needed some veg/fibre so have had a bowl of homemade butternut squash and broccoli soup.

SuperBatFace · 18/07/2024 21:05

Week 13 dose 2.5 loss so far 3 st 7 lbs

Apricot yogurt with strawberries, banana and walnuts

Protein bar
Piece of cheese
Bag of pop chips (this was not a usual lunch but I just didn't fancy anything much!)

Tricolor salad of avocado, tomato and mozzarella

gimmemounjaro · 18/07/2024 21:09

Wow @SuperBatFace those are fantastic results 💪

I think I probably speak for many people when I say - how do you do it, what's your secret, tell us everything?!

(Can I ask what your starting BMI was?)

DahliaGarden · 18/07/2024 21:16

Have you stayed on 2.5mg throughout @superbatface? I am so interested to know if it's possible to lose well and not increase the dose!

Week 2, 2.5mg
I'm really trying to eat more than my first week to avoid exhaustion and be able to exercise.

B - 2 egg omelette with courgette, roasted red pepper and feta. Small glass of kefir milk and an electrolyte drink. Black coffee.
L - skipped because I was so full from breakfast but had a cappucino, a peach and a banana late afternoon
D - four chipolatas, a few homemade wedges, broccoli and corn.

Last week I could hardly eat at all and felt terrible so I'm really focusing on protein and keeping my energy levels up.

QueenOfHiraeth · 18/07/2024 21:36

B: 2 hardboiled eggs, small slice oat bread, butter. Half a protein drink
L: Carrot sticks, hummus, coleslaw, 20g M&S sesame pretzel thins
D: 100g sliced chicken breast, cowboy caviar (it's a rather nice home-made bean salad thingy). Strawberries, small serving ice cream
Snack : Protein mini snack

1300 cals, loss 1stone 7lb in 11-12wks

SuperBatFace · 18/07/2024 23:36

@gimmemounjaro ha thanks!

My starting bmi was just a touch under 37. It's now 27.

@SJLO @DahliaGarden

No secret really! I was 14 stone 12 months sub when I started back in April (think it was April!) and I'm now 11 stone 5

Always stuck with 2.5 as I have a fear of feeling sick! (Although who doesn't?!) I've never had what I would recognise as full on suppression of appetite but it has enabled me to actually eat more healthily with a lot more ease

It also gives me energy (although that'll be tested from 3am tomorrow when I have to go to Germany to see Taylor Swift against my will Grin) so I'm able to exercise most days

A typical day is around 1300-1400 calories (I rarely go below this) and I do either 30 mins of spin or I walk or I swim.

I've attached a recent pic - not very flattering and the now pic in the pink sequins is my potential Taylor dress but hopefully you'll get the gist - and stay with 2:5 if you can!

Thanks so much for all this info. So do you get energy from the food you eat or from the MJ? I'm only on day 4 felt really tired at times so far maybe need to up my kcals going by how yours is working. You look fabulous!!! I would really love to stick to the 2.5 I am also scared of the sick feeling and all the other scary side effects like hair thinning being perimenopausal I'm already seeing a difference. Oh what I would give to be forced to go see Taylor 🤩 have a ball!

Callmejudith · 19/07/2024 06:07

R@SuperBatFace you look incredible!!

OP posts:
SuperBatFace · 19/07/2024 06:53

@SJLO bit of both really! The MJ has definitely given me a boost although right now, sat in Heathrow, my energy is none existent!

Definitely try and eat properly - I very rarely dip below 1300 ish and it does make a difference

DahliaGarden · 19/07/2024 09:55

That's so interesting @superbatface - I also have a fear of feeling sick, and I know if I started vomiting I'd have to come off MJ as I can't deal with that! Hence my interest in hearing stories of people who are successful sticking with 2.5mg. You look great, I hope you enjoy Taylor!

WeAllHaveWings · 19/07/2024 09:58

Summerhillsquare · 18/07/2024 14:21

Why the constant protein mentioning?

Any diet where you are losing weight quickly (not just with MJ), the recommendation is to make sure your diet includes decent quantities of protein so you lose less muscle.

Also hugely reduces your risk of gallstones and pancreatitis - I have a group of friends who did one of the very low calorie shake diets years ago, I was very envious of their sudden and impressive results, the only reason I didn't join them was that I was pregnant! But all of them ended up with gallbladder problems and one has been left with long term health problems, so I am using My Fitness Pal to make sure I stay over 1000 cals if I can. I never thought I'd be using MFP to ensure I stay ABOVE a calorie goal! 😁

gimmemounjaro · 19/07/2024 19:20

B: decaf black coffee
L: bowl of homemade mushroom and leek soup
S: Gouda and crackers, an apple
D: kidney bean stew with walnuts, pomegranate seeds and coriander, plus a random sausage in a Staffordshire oatcake
