Very small portion of apple crumble and custard.

2 teas and lots of water.

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/09/2024 11:43

@SecondDesk I don't know about "working".
Re constipation I think the most effective food is 2 kiwi fruit a day - one doesn't seem to be as reliable.

I take the chia as its easy, cheap, boosts protein, fiber and omega 3.
But I'm still not pooping as much as I would like to - maybe that is simply the result of eating a lot less food though.

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/09/2024 11:45

I've also started taking iron supplements which slows things down a bit. I might stop those for a while and see how I get on.

MounjaroMunchie · 17/09/2024 16:36

@RobinEllacotStrike I'm on prescribed ferrous sulphate and the constipation is killing me. I drink nearly 3 litres of water per day, I hit 30g fibre most days (according to Nutracheck) and I get plenty of fruit and veg. Psyllium husk worked for a while but the only thing that's worked reliably for me is 1 x Dulcoease stool softener every day. I don't like it, but the usual dose is up to 5 per day so it's a small amount. I'm hoping my next blood test shows better results so I can reduce my FS dose or even stop taking them!

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/09/2024 17:40

oh that sounds tough!

Food that has worked in the past re being regular are kiwifruit, kefir and Life Changing Loaf of Bread:
https://www.mynewroots.org/2013/02/the-life-changing-loaf-of-bread/

I don't usually have issues so I suspect it is the iron supplement - I don't have any major issues but its too low to donate blood so I'm trying to get levels up.
