Not sure what happened there! Still learning! Hi @CatTraveler hi@ShinyBandana just wondering has anyone experienced any issues with their hair? Feel like it's just back on track after two kids and COVID stress!

Popatop · 14/07/2024 06:53

Hey guys joining this group! On week 3 of mounjaro with starting weight of 19s 5 . Feels daunting!

My hair started to fall out on wegovy. I posted about it and apparently it is a known side effect.

Luckily I have lots of hair but my hairdresser said it's much thinner now. I do think it's slowing down now

NotALightPacker · 14/07/2024 10:04

I've been rather distracted applying for a new job (interview next week) but just wanted to mark that I have lost my first ( possibly of 10 I need to lose) stone. Still on 5mg MJ and it took 5 weeks.

Side effects are minimal and suppression definitely reduces after 5 days now so I think I will order the 7.5mg pen next.

A couple of effects I didn't expect though - sleeping better and less brain fog. Used to wake up every 2 hours during the night, now getting regular 4 hour spells and I just seem more focused (might be due to sleep maybe?)

Well done! That’s a great start. I also slept well last night. That would be a great bonus.

I went to the pub last night. Had two small glasses of Prosecco over 4 rounds with a pint of fizzy water and had no cravings for any more.

dogdaydisaster · 14/07/2024 12:42

I’ve got another question! When people use the extra dose from their pens, using the hard twist method- are they keeping the 4th needle in place and just swabbing it and reusing?

WeAllHaveWings · 14/07/2024 12:59

@dogdaydisaster you need to use a new needle for every injection. ZAVA sent me 7 needles per pen (I assume incase there were faulty needles), or you can buy more pen needles to use (see link on the main MJ thread OP)

HanarCantWearSweaters · 14/07/2024 13:02

Hello all, hoping I can join soon. You’ve all inspired me to really start I think. 140kg and desperate to get back on track to my weight loss journey pre covid, lowest weight I got down to was 112kg but too much food noise now to get there!

Does anyone recommend a certain site? I’ve been thinking of zava or voy but need to read up a bit more I think

Welcome @HanarCantWearSweaters

I have just completed the 4th dose of my first pen and used ZAVA so far as they were the cheapest. 4-5 weeks ago they processed the order and delivered quickly, but there are some rumblings with issues now with a few of pharmacies, I guess the popularity and demand explosion over the last month is probably hard for all their supply chains to keep up with.

They send clearly laid out information on the doses etc, and links to support and send emails asking if I need any support, but I haven't felt I needed to use them as find most of my information on MN or FB! Reading about MJ can be quite obsessive!

If you need a ZAVA referral code I've included mine below. You get 15% off your first pen and I will get 15% of my next one too.

The starter pack looks like a good buy (which I got on impulse) to save another couple of pounds, but when doing the maths later it is actually cheaper buying each pen one by one (even with delivery each time) as the discount is limited to £30.

There’s no better gift than the gift of good health. Use my code and you’ll get 15% off your first order at ZAVA: REFREEF6

Maximum discount value: £30

Thank you that makes sense now. I want to get as much vfm but couldn’t see that I could buy more needles. I only got 4 with my Voy delivery.

Thank you @WeAllHaveWings that’s really helpful. I hadn’t thought of the supply issues now but makes sense as it’s really taking off atm isn’t it. Gosh would it be worse to start and then stop due to supply or not start at all or am I making excuses still

justsaxy · 14/07/2024 14:54

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I hope that you are ok. I think I am headed on a similar path, and it's really hard. I have been going to bed early in an attempt to distract myself from comfort eating... but you are right it gives an extra motivation to get fit and healthy for DC!

HanarCantWearSweaters · 14/07/2024 14:59

Sorry another question — has anyone been contacted by their GP/had it brought up at any appointments? I don’t know why but I feel a bit wary discussing it with them theyve not been the most supportive in terms of weight loss

No my GP surgery haven't contacted me and I haven't really been in touch with them since I started.
I should warn people many GPs haven't actually heard of Mounjaro yet, though obviously they will be familiar with Ozempic and other GLP1s. So they may have questions or not seem like they understand, it's still really new and guidance hasn't come out yet for primary care.
I work in general practice and I've been spreading the word, one GP has actually prescribed it for a patient since, but technically we aren't meant to be yet!

HanarCantWearSweaters · 14/07/2024 15:18

Thanks @RagzRebooted. I had a call Imperial’s weight loss service last week and they said they’ve stopped doing all medications as it’s too expensive, I did wonder is the long term cost of obesity to the NHS not a great deal higher!? All they could offer was a call with a dietician. And that was tier 3! She also said oh you know once you stop you’ll probably gain the weight back…righto so like all the other diets and programs I’ve tried? How is it any different except that it might give me a break from the emotional feedback of looking and feeling like this so I don’t keep comfort eating in a cycle. Thats what I’m hoping for anyway, that it can set me back into the mindset I had pre Covid and i can carry on with it

Thanks @justsaxy. it’s a shitty club that no-one wants to be in but it helps to talk to others in a similar situation. I am OK thank you, mostly numb I think. I hope you are OK too. Flowers

Weigh in day for me. I lost 1.6kg, despite taking a lower dose this week to try and ensure I could enjoy an event this weekend. I still had good suppression for most of the week so I really didn't go mad at all. Managed to enjoy the meal I had planned though.

So this is week 18 and I'm down 23.8kg in total. BMI is currently 35.4, looking forward to making it under 35 as a next goal!

ClonedSquare · 15/07/2024 09:15

Weigh in day for me (end of week 10). I lost 1.5lbs which is perfectly reasonable. I'm struggling a bit mentally because I'm still comparing myself to the high losses I had when I started, so this slow down feels like failure. But logically I know 1-2lbs a week is the safe and healthy amount to be losing each week. I’m at 25.5lbs total loss, so about 2.5lbs a week average.

It is highlighting how much I need the Mounjaro to lose weight though. It's the only reason I can keep my calories as low as I do, and even with the MJ I'm still "only" losing 1-2lbs a week. Without it, I'd stand no chance!

PrincessPeache · 15/07/2024 09:42

@ClonedSquare that’s brilliant - just think, that rate of loss in a year is still almost 80lbs! And such a sustainable rate too. You should be very proud 🥰

PrincessPeache · 15/07/2024 09:43

Weigh day for me - 20lbs lost in two weeks, which is obviously brilliant but this past week was the last 3lbs of it 😂 so already slowing down to a more normal rate which is expected. Still feeling motivated and energised ahead of shot 3 tomorrow.

KeepingUndercover · 15/07/2024 09:53

@ClonedSquare that's great, steady weight loss. You're doing brilliantly.

ClonedSquare · 15/07/2024 10:33

@PrincessPeache I hadn't done the maths, that's a great thing to keep in mind. Obviously 80lbs in a year would make me very happy! Well done on your loss, it's so exciting in the early stages when you realise how life changing these medicines are!

@KeepingUndercover Thank you for the encouragement, I need the perspective! 😃

dogdaydisaster · 15/07/2024 10:51

Everyone is doing so well! I had a night out last night. Had a couple of drinks and a bit of food but felt very relaxed about it and was able to put things down when I had had enough. Stayed at friends and left early this morning to drive back. Having much less booze led to a much better sleep. And on the way back when we called in at McDonalds for breakfast, I ordered my muffin and coffee then found myself going to dh ‘actually I don’t fancy a hash brown, I’ll take the melon bag as my side’ which is unheard of. And I couldn’t finish the muffin. Looking forward to a good week and hopefully a bit more clarity.
