Congrats @justsaxy ! It's like from that song 'What a feeling' by Irene Cara, I am still a whooping 99 with BMI of over 34, but already feeling so much happier.

WeAllHaveWings · 12/07/2024 11:08

1st pen, 4th injection tomorrow and have woken up ravenous today with a funny taste in my mouth! First time since I started the "food noise" is back full volume.

Planning to inject a day early (later today as have plans this afternoon), I was wanting to change my injection day anyway so feels like a good time to do it!

@oreo2024 turn it up and sing it loud!!! We are members of the club again!!!! 💃 🪩

WeAllHaveWings · 12/07/2024 19:05

(Sorry TMI) OMG! this mornings "food noise" turned into sudden stomach cramps after a banana sandwich, and then a very urgent and rather unpleasant trip to the loo. I was alone minding my great niece who is only 1 and that is the first time in a long long time I've had company in the loo, she crawled to the door and just sat there looking at me disgusted, poor mite must have been traumatised!

I have read some people have had this kind of problem, but did it come on that fast for you? I thought with no side effects so far I would be "safe" until I moved up to 5mg.

After today I expect to have lost at least another half stone at my weigh in tomorrow 🤣

dogdaydisaster · 13/07/2024 08:41

Morning all. First dose done. Much easier than I’d feared! Let’s see where this takes me. Had a great night at the Stevie Nicks concert last night and had a late night snack grabbing bits of this and that, whatever there was I could find to snaffle as I’d missed dinner. So looking forward to that stoping!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 13/07/2024 09:25

Congratulations to everyone on their losses and a big hurrah 🥳 to those who have moved into double figures.

After thinking that 3.33mg wasn’t working too well I lost over a kilo last week. I’ve increased by 5 clicks to 3.75mg this week and feel great so far.
Week 7
SW 110kg
CW 103kg
GW 64kg
Loss 7kg

I has set myself a couple of interim goals based on the expectation I would lose 0.5kg per week. I’ve now passed both my July and Aug interim goals (both were based on the timing of family events). So I have a new end of Aug goal around being in double figures.

KeepingUndercover · 13/07/2024 10:31

@WeAllHaveWings I really hope you're feeling better now and that was just a one off.

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude well done on your loss, that's great.

@dogdaydisaster hope your first week goes well.

I did a lower dose than normal this week, I have a celebration this week and I had so much appetite suppression and an undercurrent of nausea last week I just couldn't face it. I dropped down to 5mg rather than not taken an injection at all. I've not had the same appetite suppression this week at all, it's been quite nice to dial it down a bit. It's definitely not worn off completely, think I've just got a nice balance of feeling suppressed but not overly so.

It has made me slightly regret getting a 10mg pen that I'm due to start. I maybe should have stuck to 7.5 for another month. I don't like messing with doses as a rule so I'll see how it goes anyway.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 13/07/2024 10:33

Morning all. Well done on the Friday losses, especially those seeing double digits!

My tummy has been really off all week, which is probably mostly MJ but likely also some stress. I mentioned on the last thread that DH and I were in a rough place and sadly it's now clear that there can be no reconciliation so we're beginning the process of separation. Things seem much quieter in the tummy department this morning, however, and I've managed to eat a small breakfast, so I am feeling positive all round.

The silver lining is that yesterday's weigh-in put in me in a new stone bracket, one I haven't seen since 2015. Total loss now 3st 5lb since 15 April.

Sorry to hear that @VelociraptorsVelociRapping, I hope this turns out to be the start of a great new chapter for you, once the hard part is over.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 13/07/2024 10:36

Thanks @KeepingUndercoverFlowers. I hope so. I'm certainly feeling more than ever the importance of being as healthy as possible in order to be around for as long as possible for the DC!

I just wanted to share a little NSV I had last night. I’m still only on 2.5 mg as only on 3rd week (have lost 2.2kg) but I actually managed to walk up stairs to bed last night without being quite so breathless! I’m sure it was a one off, but I’m always so exhausted it’s a big effort to climb the stairs!!
I feel like my whole mindset it quite different now. It seems to be easier to make better food choices. Long may it last!! The one side effect that I have though it every couple of days, I feel absolutely freezing!

CrazyKats · 13/07/2024 11:59

Hoping you don't mind me joining. I started on Thursday. Was a bit nervous of injecting but my other half injects for medical reasons and reassured me it didn't hurt - and he was right. Down 1kg since Thursday.

Start weight: 109 kg
Current weight: 107.6 kg
Goal weight 1: 84 kg
Goal weight 2: 75kg
Healthy weight/mid BMI: 67kg

I would be pleased to get to 84 as this would bring me to the weight after the birth of my first and I looked and felt good but curvy/chubby. 77 would bring me in line with my slimmest aged about 22 😂 I don't think I've been 67 since I was about 12 or 13 but apparently this is my healthy mid point BMI weight 🤔 I fear I could look a bit gaunt at this weight.....

I've still got some old clothes from this period to test against.

Read a post yesterday about losing the weight gained over COVID period which my first goal weight of 84 would bring me back to. I totally got what she meant in losing that emotional baggage picked up over that period with the weight loss. Feel like I've been dragging it round for ages.

WeAllHaveWings · 13/07/2024 12:40

First stone gone! 🎉 Only 6ish more to go for an "overweight" BMI 🙈

Start : 21st 3lbs
Week 1: -10lbs (covid week)
Week 2: -2lbs
Week 3: -2lbs
Current: 20st 3lbs

4th dose of 2.5mg today 💉

dogdaydisaster · 13/07/2024 13:58

How do we work out how many calories we should be eating? Is there some guidance somewhere?

WeAllHaveWings · 13/07/2024 14:14

@dogdaydisaster google TDEE calculator and take off around 500 calories. Or an app like My Fitness Pal will ask you to put in your details and will tell you how many calories you should aim for a 2lb weekly loss.

Thanks. That’s a pretty generous 1686 for now.

WeAllHaveWings · 13/07/2024 15:04

Think it is around 3,500 calorie deficit per week (500 per day) to lose 1lb.

If you want to lose a bit more you can reduce daily average over the week, and reduce by 750 a day to lose 1.5 - 2lbs a week which is a healthy way to lose.

My Fitness Pal (MFP) app is good at allowing you to track what you are eating on average over the week especially if you go under/over some days.

On MJ the problem, for some people where the suppression is strong, is eating enough calories to not impact their health.

oreo2024 · 13/07/2024 15:12

@CrazyKats welcome! My goals are very similar. I felt good at 86kg (BMI just under 30) and would be happy with 75kg (BMI just over 25), I remember being 69kg at the age of 26 and looking almost too skinny for my liking (height 5'7).

I'm about 166cm so probably not as tall as you. It's just seems ever so light, I don't have a particularly delicate frame! Feeling a lot of appetite suppression today so clearly it kicks in for me after 48 hours. Hoping I can be down to 95kg in time for my first child free break (solo!!) in mid Oct. There will be many people I know there from before kids and COVID and want to look decent.

EternalFatalist · 13/07/2024 16:53

I've been lurking since I started thinking about going the Mounjaro route - hello everyone. I had my second 2.5mg injection yesterday and so far it's been good. My stats are as follows:

Start weight: 15 st 8 lbs (BMI = 37.2)
Current weight: 15 st 2 lbs
Goal weight: 9 st 0 lbs (BMI = 21.5)
Week 1 Loss = 6 lbs

No bad side effects yet. I notice that I'm not hungry every moment of every day, so that has been a good side effect. I am generally a healthy eater but I am a foodie and I love to cook and eat, which are bad traits when one has constant hunger.

Despite my horrendous BMI, I do not have any major health issues. My BP, blood sugar, cholesterol etc are all at really good levels. But I want to be back at a healthy weight (it all went wrong in the last 10 years), not obese. Hopefully Mounjaro will help. 😀

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 13/07/2024 19:11

@EternalFatalist that's very similar to me. I started at 15st 11lb and am currently 11st 8lb. I think I'm in week 20 of MJ.

10st would get me to bmi 25 but I haven't decided what weight is my actual goal.

I was bmi 40 but had no health issues at all from my almost 10yrs being obese.

Good luck with your MJ journey 🎉

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 13/07/2024 20:22

I did my first dose Wednesday and caved and weighed myself this morning and I’m only 0.4kg down…. I’m going to be so gutted if this doesn’t work as well for me like it does everyone else 😩

ShinyBandana · 13/07/2024 20:23

👋 hello I’ve just taken my first MJ injection today - woohoo. I’m feeling v positive.

I’m 54, take HRT inc testosterone

Size 20 now
CW 108 kg -BMI 33
TW 78 kg - BMI 24

First target is BMI under 30 which is 97 kg
That should have me comfortably a size 18

I hope everyone is doing ok

CatTraveler · 13/07/2024 21:09

Hello - hope you dont mind me joining your merry gang;

I took my first dose of Mounjaro yesterday morning.

Currently my BMI is 49.5 (134.7kg) and if I can get to a BMI of 30 (80kg) I would be verry happy.

I have noticed a real reduction of food noise and my appetite is much less already.

Do people tend to count calories still and do you try and eat a normal amount (eg according to the James Smith TDEE I should be eatting about 2350kcal and I just feel that is so much when I am not hugary)
