I am officially two stone down!!!

Started at 20 stone 11 pounds

Initial goal was 18 stone 13 pounds, weighed in this morning and I was 18 stone 11 pounds! New target is now 16 stone 6 pounds. Hoping I can reach it by Christmas. Final goal weight is around 14 stone in my head. According to the NHS my goal weight is 7-9 stone but that just seems unfathomable at the moment

SilenceInside · 08/10/2024 16:07

@itwasnevermine congratulations on losing the 2 stone!

I think we are similar heights as our healthy ranges are similar (I'm 5ft 2), and my starting weight was 19st 4.2lb so similar starting point too. Congrats on 2 stone! As of this morning I'm 16st 12.5lb! Like you the health range sounded scary initially so I said 16 stone. But now I genuinely believe I can do this so I've set my goal as my lightest weight in the last 10 years, which Is 11st 5lb. Trust the process! I'm not the fastest loser, but the weight is steadily coming off!

Eminybob · 08/10/2024 18:12

I have a question about the BMI threshold please.
I know to be prescribed you need to be over 30 or 27 with certain conditions, but what about once you get down to 27? Will I stop being prescribed even though I'll not be at my target of a healthy bmi?

Just planning ahead as I'm 27.6 currently (down from 38) and wouldn't like to keep going until I'm under 25.

itwasnevermine · 08/10/2024 18:13

@RMNofTikTok I'm anywhere between 5'2 and 5'5 depending who measures me 🤣

It's a scary target, I do know realistically that I can reach it but the idea of seeing "11 stone to lose" really demotivates me! I think as I lose more it'll become easier to imagine! Congratulations on your loss!! (What a weird sentence 🤣)

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 08/10/2024 18:15

@Eminybob the vast majority of prescribers will continue working with you until you reach a heathy weight and many will then provide maintenance.

gimmemounjaro · 08/10/2024 18:18

@Eminybob

I just asked MedExpress this very question and they said their policy is to prescribe for up to 2 years, as long as your BMI stays above 23.5. If you go below, they stop prescribing. I guess other providers might do things slightly differently, I'd check with whoever you are with.

Eminybob · 08/10/2024 18:21

Thank you. I'm with asda, I will message them

SecondDesk · 08/10/2024 21:10

Well done @RMNofTikTok

I'm a slow user too. I am staying positive by looking at long term goals. First goal is to go from obese to overweight, fingers crossed that is possible by Christmas, if not, by end of Jan 2025.

SecondDesk · 08/10/2024 21:15

Oh my goodness.
Week 5, first week on 5mg. I am definitely feeling suppression for the first time.

I made a HUGE mistake. As per, I drank a big drink of water and then ate dinner. That did not go well. I forgot that I feel bloated for the first few days.

Thank you! I've lost 34lb in 23 weeks, however I have missed 5 injections in that time!

A friend is cross because she's only lost 6lb in more than a month. I don't know what to say to her except maybe she needs to completely stop drinking alcohol for a bit (which I haven't said so far and she wouldn't like). She has PCOS - anyone here got any tips? I haven't told her I'm using MJ but I'm sure she'll twig soon, she's not daft.

SecondDesk · 08/10/2024 22:06

@BingoWingsOverScotland 6lb a month is slow and steady.

I've lost 2lb a week on 2.5mg. I haven't drank any alcohol during that time.

There's a podcast I listen to called High on Life (host is a Canadian doctor called Sasha High). It's all about obesity and women's health, there are definitely episodes about PCOS. I haven't listened to those because I don't suffer from it but the episodes I have listened to have been good. Might be worth a try.

Has anyone had the issue where a pen has arrived warm and when asked the supplier replies with this?

Mounjaro / Wegovy with > 5st / 30kg to lose: Thread 2
WeAllHaveWings · 08/10/2024 23:30

I haven't had that issue yet @Doobi , and Eli Lilly's website says otherwise.

If you are using pen immediately it will be ok.

Maybe show them what Eli Lilly says, say their advice directly contradicts Eli Lilly's online instructions and ask for a copy of the actual communication from Eli Lilly that says otherwise.

I think suppliers are struggling with the amount of returns and having to bear the cost to provide replacements.

Do you happen to have the link for this webpage where it states that information? (So I can cross reference this). I can't find it.

Thank you

Hello, I'm on 1.7 WG (second month on this) and losing heart - I lost well at the beginning but nothing like the amounts I've heard of and I've stalled for the past fortnight entirely. If I'm having side effects I eat a lot less, but when im not im as hungry as usual - and am well used to going beyond hunger cues I suppose - so want to eat if I'm not feeling too sick to do so! I still feel like I'm eating a lot less but it's not showing.

I've put such a lot of faith (and money!) into this and really don't want to fail again. Is anyone else experiencing very little loss? I had 6 stone to lose.

I'm losing on average 7lb a month. I'm under weight management services (and therefore my wegovy is nhs funded). WMS are ECSTATIC with the amount of weight I'm losing, their target is 10% of your body weight in the first 6 months, and I did that in 4.5 months. They only take you off the treatment if you do not achieve 5% of your body weight within 6 months. They've said with my starting weight and height, it's a great loss. I know some people lose weight far quicker, but she shouldn't get disheartened by that.

It's normal to have periods of stalling. Weight loss is not linear. Are you drinking enough water to flush the fat you are losing out? Have you tried tracking calories to see how much you are taking in?

Tomorrowisyesterday · 09/10/2024 08:29

Thank you :) definitely not having enough water I think, I haven't really been considering that. And work has been busy so have reduced amount of exercise so I need to increase that too. I suppose im disappointed that I haven't got the feeling of not wanting to eat that some people describe. Thank you for the encouragement 👍

WeAllHaveWings · 09/10/2024 09:11

@Doobi just noticed on that site you can click on contact us and go through to a chat option. Might be worth asking Eli Lilly directly to see what they say.

If she has PCOS then it is very likely that she is insulin resistant. She would probably respond very well to a GLP1 medication, but for non-pharmaceutical options she would do best following a low-carb diet and cutting out alcohol as much as possible.
