@StillSingingAlong we used them for insulin when we were backpacking

Due on my my period and even though I know why - I am 2lbs up 😤😤😤

anyone else have taste change on MJ?

i had noticed sweet stuff tasting overly sweet, but not enough to be off putting in small quantities.

yesterday i had a tin of heinz tomato soup and it tasted like it had been completely water down! So bizarre! Wonder if its because I was day 1 since my jab and effects are high??

I was keeping mine in the fridge but after being told you don't have to once opened I haven't bothered....however am now wondering if this coincided with them being less effective

I wondered that too - I am only on my third pen but so far dose 4 has been much less effective than dose 1.

Fridge has just arrived so I can just keep it in there all the time now. Fingers crossed I haven't bought a fridge too small for the pen 🤞

Behold The Fridge ❄️

It calls itself a skincare fridge so I have put some skincare in it 😁

The shelf comes out so no problem keeping still-packaged pens in there.

Oh that's a cute wee fridge!

BM202 · 01/10/2024 18:25

I’ve been following this thread for a while as have about 7st to lose. Did jab 1 of 2.5 on Sat and I’m so disappointed, mild suppression on day 2 only and not much else. Today I’m starving! I know it’s not a therapeutic dose yet but everyone else seems to have great loses week 1 and just don’t see how I will. I’m eating slightly better as I want to avoid side effects but it’s not the revelation I was hoping for.

Anyone else found this?

HippityHoppityhoo · 01/10/2024 18:59

Evening all,

Thanks again to everyone for having their progress on here it is so encouraging and helpful.

I am loving that skincare fridge @gimmemounjaro Grin well done!

I injected on Friday for the first time, haven't weighed since but starting at 295.4lb with a BMI of 45.3 so a way to go.

I've been pretty good at going to the gym the last few months, lots of weight training to help with my back pain and add overall strength so will keep that up.

In terms of side effects felt quite cold and headachy a few hours after the first jab & then haven't felt too bad since. Feeling quite thirsty so keeping up the water.

I definitely don't feel tempted by things as much, I know I am feeling hungry at the right times as I just start to feel a bit tired and like I need something so have been eating normal healthy meals & haven't been tempted by sweets/ crisps etc so far.

gimmemounjaro · 01/10/2024 19:25

@BM202
Me! 🙋‍♀️

Hang in there, it will get better.

2.5mg did almost nothing for me. By the end of week 4 I had lost 4.4lbs.

Then in 4 weeks on 5mg I lost 12.8 lbs. I lost more in my first 4 days on 5mg than I had in 4 weeks on 2.5mg.

I am 2+ weeks into 7.5mg and have lost about another 6-7lbs so far I think.

Keep going, this bit is only to get your body used to it, the real weight loss comes later. It's annoying, I know, I had 6+ stone to lose and was expecting it to fall off immediately. But I think of it as having a good tolerance for MJ which means fewer side effects. No idea if that's true but it cheers me up when I think about The Lost Month on 2.5mg Smile
(It is true that I don't suffer from side effects tho.)

alltablenochairs · 01/10/2024 20:10

Mounjaro purchased and being delivered tomorrow, lockable cash box for the fridge purchased, sharps bin and alcohol swabs purchased. I've been a veteran of countless diets over the past 20 years, have made many, many strange and in some cases downright disgusting 'diet' dishes (slimming world chocolate mug cake- looking at you here) and I'm coming to the end of the line diet wise. So time to hoik up my massive mega pants* and do this.

*I have a severely autistic (PDA) child who will routinely destroy medication. Everything has to be kept locked away.

Darlinghag · 01/10/2024 20:13

@BM202 2.5mg did little for me and my losses (even on week 3 of 5mg) have been small. My biggest loss was 2.4lbs in a week - even week 1, because i was already working in a deficit, and didnt have water weight. I had little suppression. I only get 3-4 days on 5mg. I don’t think you should be worried and I try to treat it as a good thing.

slower loss is supposed to be better for preventing loose skin, plus i know its given me opportunities to keep using willpower and get to grip on my deficit and tracking!

is there a correlation between low side effects and lower suppression? I’ve been pretty lucky with minor nausea and feeling a little cold. Maybe thats why i am not a ‘super responder’.

alltablenochairs · 01/10/2024 20:21

Why have I managed to totally cock up the formatting. Blah!

BM202 · 01/10/2024 21:30

@gimmemounjaro @Darlinghag thank you, that’s reassuring! I know it’s a long game and slower is better as it’ll help me make more sustainable choices but reading all the people losing 10lb first week got me a bit excited about getting the first stone or so lost super fast!

You could be right about side effects and suppression though. I’ve had a slightly metallic taste in my mouth and that’s it. I was worried about side effects as I had HG when pregnant which was awful and I generally get quite a lot of heartburn etc anyway but so far nothing. Long may it continue!

RobinEllacotStrike · 01/10/2024 23:10

@alltablenochairs I too have the gigantic Innersey undies. 😂

Does your fridge make a noise? I had one previously that we kept in the bedroom for cold beers etc but it made a humming sound which was really irritating at night.

gimmemounjaro · 02/10/2024 06:03

@MoreThanJustANumber

Yes it does, it's not silent, there's a low hum. It's under my desk at the moment but I think would be fine in the bedroom. I don't think it's loud enough to disturb sleep.

SilverSprings510 · 02/10/2024 07:25

Going in to week 3 on 5mg. This week’s loss takes me to 1st13 - one pound more and I’ll have lost 2 stone! I have a lot to lose but that’s heartening.

Weigh ins: -7, -5, -3, -2, -5, -5 ✨

I doubt it. Much more likely that the lower suppression later on is because your body has built up tolerance to the dose. If the fourth dose were as effective as the first then none of us would need to titrate up through the different pens.

gimmemounjaro · 02/10/2024 09:03

If the fourth dose were as effective as the first then none of us would need to titrate up through the different pens.

Well we would if first and fourth were equally effective but neither was giving the desired results. That hasn't been the case for me though, there's been a drop in effectiveness through doses 1-4 each time (nb sample size of two pens!)

I am about to take dose 4 of a 7.5mg pen so hopefully this time it will be a bit more consistent. I won't know whether it's the dose or the fridge though!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 02/10/2024 09:21

I'm sorry @gimmemounjaro, I really don't understand your point, unless you have stayed on the same dose for two or more pens and experienced a difference in efficacy between doses 1 and 4 on two pens of the same strength. If you have just been going straight through the pens from 2.5 to 5 to 7.5 then the difference you are experiencing between doses 1 and 4 is almost certainly greater tolerance of the drug.

OP posts:
VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 02/10/2024 09:27

My update - first week on 12.5mg after staying on 10mg for two pens, which did stall me a little. 4lb down this week, bringing me to 5st 5lb and 24% total lost from my heaviest, 4st 5lb and 20% on Mounjaro since April. I am delighted!!

OP posts:
gimmemounjaro · 02/10/2024 09:54

Yes, sure @VelociraptorsVelociRapping

I was wondering as I said whether the pens become less effective as they warm up, in response to a PP wondering the same thing. Tirzepatide evidently degrades and becomes less effective at higher temperatures, and the fourth dose is just on the edge of its time limit out of the fridge. So was just wondering. I think slowly becoming less effective as it warms is possible and maybe more likely than being fully effective at 29° and unusable at 30° or whatever it is. But I have no evidence for this and not disagreeing that it might just be increased tolerance.

I was disagreeing with your statement that nobody would titrate up if the fourth dose was equally effective as the first. They would, if neither dose produced the desired results.

WeAllHaveWings · 02/10/2024 10:42

On the subject of going up doses, this is my experience, I am on week 14 now (5 x 2.5mg, 9 x 3.75mg) there have been times I have considered going up further, then think I will go another week or two to the end of this pen before doing it and then suppression kicks back in.

Maybe it has been my body's reaction to ongoing weight loss that one week and eating a bit more "resolved" whatever issue it had, but it has convinced me to stay on my current dose until I have at least a couple of weeks where will power isn't enough to keep within a weekly calorie deficit to support moderate losses. A couple of weeks here and there is not going to massively impact my long journey.

alltablenochairs · 02/10/2024 15:00

Well that was all rather easy. I got mine from Simple Online Pharmacy as they're not a million miles away from where I am and they use DPD- I don't trust RM where I am. All arrived with the ice pack still frozen rock solid.

I'm also massively needle phobic as well but this was totally different. Didn't even feel it and because it doesn't look like a traditional needle and syringe it didn't send my needle phobia into overdrive. This definitely won't be a short adventure for me by any means though. If I have done my calculations correctly I have in the region of 60kg to lose. Chances are rhe maths is wrong but just incase it isn't, I don't want to set an end goal.

Darlinghag · 02/10/2024 15:28

I’ve just order my third pen and going up to 7.5mg.

has anyone bridged between 5mg and 7.5mg by going somewhere in between on the final 5mg dose using the extra from the bonus liquid?

i did this with 2.5-5mg and it seemed ok but just wondering the view on it at higher dosages!

BingoWingsOverScotland · 02/10/2024 16:38

I can't see why it would be different. It's certainly what I intend to do at the end of my current pen - you're just getting a dose that is halfway between old and new dosage.
