I’ve just order my third pen and going up to 7.5mg.

has anyone bridged between 5mg and 7.5mg by going somewhere in between on the final 5mg dose using the extra from the bonus liquid?

i did this with 2.5-5mg and it seemed ok but just wondering the view on it at higher dosages!

The "big" rules I stick to are as I think they are not worth the potential unpleasant side effects/risk -

  • 4 weeks minimum on each pen dose before increasing
  • Don't change 7 day dosing schedule before or after increasing doses
  • Only change from 7 day dosing schedule as a one off for a special event, or one off to change injection day
  • Don't use the same needle to inject yourself twice even on the same day!
  • There are probably more "hacks" that I haven't even considered such as putting it in a cup of tea because not keen on injections! (think that one was a troll! 🤣)

I wouldn't take 2.5 paracetamol instead of 2. I wouldn't take my next dose of paracetamol 3 hours after the first or more than 4 times in 24hrs.

I am fine with and have done these ones which are breaking the prescription directions but I think they are low risk -

  • Using 5th dose using hard twist and a pen needle (I am not keen on syringes)
  • Counting clicks for a lower dose (for interim doses such as 3.75mg after 4 weeks on the previous pen dose)
  • Going a few days (5 max) over the 30 day discard rule

I would take 1.5 paracetamol. I would take paracetamol a couple of months out of date if there were no other available.

Everyone needs to decide their own approach to, and if they feel they have adequate knowledge of the risk, as they are the only one who will bear any possible consequences.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 02/10/2024 16:59

Understood, @gimmemounjaro. Thanks. I would be interested to know the temperature degradation effects at normal room temperatures. I’ve had a fifth bonus dose from all five (!) of my pens and had good suppression each time but they were all kept refrigerated.

@BingoWingsOverScotland i guess so! I of course wont be using the full extra dose as that would be way too strong (although kills me to throw it haha!) but i think getting somewhere between 6-7mg will be ok.

i always worry! I think ive seen too many people on tiktok complaining about side effects at 7.5!

BingoWingsOverScotland · 02/10/2024 17:24

Oh, I think I misunderstood you there, @Darlinghag - what I did last time, and intend to do this time, is to use the remaining contents of the syringe as a fifth dose - it sounds like you're planning to add some of it to the fourth dose instead - either seems fine, in that you're not intending to do some crazy leap from 5 to 15 or something!

BingoWingsOverScotland · 02/10/2024 17:26

I'm due for my 2nd 5mg dose tonight, but I'm out with friends until later, and feeling fairly hungry. Fingers crossed I don't dive into the chippy on the way home....

ahaha, yes thats what i meant! Yes definitely not going to give myself 10mg 🫣 it would be a quarter of the dose to give me 6.25mg i think. (And 3.75mg going to the bin 😰)

WeeklyJab · 02/10/2024 19:31

Midweek update - Day 4 or 5 (?) and I've lost 3kg.

(I injected Saturday afternoon and i'ts Wednesday now)

I have an enormous amount to lose so that's a drop in a very big ocean, and I haven't eaten much because I've felt so rough. I don't expect anything like this sort of thing to continue, but it's nice to see something.

Unfortunately based on that, I would be breaking one rule - 4 weeks per dose measurement - it would be three weeks on 5mg.

i’m ok with it though, i think. I did it at 2.5mg. I don’t actually want to whizz through doseages too fast, despite what it looks like. But i am definitely noticing the changes in effects with the doseage increase and i’ve got a feeling 7.5mg will be my doseage for quite awhile!

Yes I did that and it was fine, I think I ended up with 6mg.

I used same needle 3 times....when no fluid injected (plunger didn't move) I took it out, inspected, tried again, (same needle) no joy....took it out, took needle off and put it on again (same needle) and it worked 3rd jab. This was same day obviously but worse than this I'd managed to jab my finger applying the needle at the beginning. Total fail. Still alive

It's me that pondered efficacy of pen if out of fridge during the 3 weeks of further doses. I lost lots on 2.5 (kept in fridge) and slowed right up on 5mg. Side effects on 5 were bad though

Single use needles are blunted and damaged after each use. The damage increases the infection risk of bacteria on your skin and in the air entering the injection site on the next injection.

There is a woman from the UK who posts on social media who ended up in a wheelchair after a Dr used the same needle twice - Amy Pohl.

It is a rare occurrence, but not worth the risk for me.

i think my mother may have rumbled me, using MJ, although I said nothing.

I have a complex mindset around sharing diet, weightloss and body image with her (like many of us I am sure!) and today it came up in conversation and she was going on and on about how its not safe and yadda yadda. It just all came with the vibe that it was aimed in my direct, although you could guess I am just paranoid!

Obviously I know she’s misinformed and I’ve done my own risk assessment, but it still makes me edgy.

i just don’t know how she could have found out! She hasn’t seen inside my fridge and I haven’t told a soul.

I don’t know why it makes me nervous, but I don’t like it!!

WeAllHaveWings · 03/10/2024 21:06

Mums just know, it is a special power they have! 🤣

She knows you are overweight, she would have seen it on TV/heard people talking about, she knows you and would know whether you are likely to try it out, seen your weight come off (even if it was before MJ), and noticed your body language/reaction when she mentioned it.

I know mine (sadly not with us anymore) would have had worked it out pretty quickly too, but she would have been more direct and had a few choice words to say to me, and then unashamedly shared her concerns with every other family member! 🙈 Surprised she hasn't come back to haunt me over it! 🤣

Whether you admit it or not be confident you have made the right decision for you and...........good luck!

alltablenochairs · 03/10/2024 21:59

Can you blame it on something else?

I was pretty unwell earlier this year. As in a sepsis, long hospital stay, emergency surgery type of thing. I've got no intention of telling anyone anything so if anyone plans on asking I'll be telling them that I got a bollocking like no other from the consultant who did the surgery. I imagine something was said, but I was probs too unwell to appreciate it at the time.

NewoIkkin · 04/10/2024 07:48

Weigh-in day and I’m down 2.1lbs. Very happy with that.

Biggest milestone this week: 20% of my starting body weight lost. Also managed to squeeze into my size 18 jeans (although I probably need to give it another 5lbs before they’re comfy)!

Hope everyone has had a good week 🙂

BakingNana · 04/10/2024 10:41

For the first time ever I am lighter than my husband. He is 3 inches taller than me but has always been on the skinny side until recently. Been together 40 years and he is now 13st 5lbs after putting on weight and I am now 12st 12lbs, down from 16st 5lbs

Darlinghag · 04/10/2024 11:49

@WeAllHaveWings you’re right they do!!

i think in hindsight she probably doesn’t know, but she’s concerned I might try it, (or another person in our family who was there) based on some horror story she reckons she’s heard.

she does have a habit of falling into fear without research. Plus, ive spoken on this thread before; but the benefits for my pcos and digestive problems are way too good against any currently known kind of risk. I don’t have health issues outside of this and I am careful and in tune with how my body responds!

@alltablenochairs i don’t want to lie. Hopefully it won’t come up again any time soon. My loss is slow and my deficit is reasonble for eating out - im not one who can’t eat all the time. A couple of high suppression days bit otherwise I eat between 1600-1800 cals a day!

we’ve also talked before when i started losing weight (i’ve dropped from size 26-28 to a 20/22 over two years) and i’ve made it clear i know she noticed weight change but its not up for discussion about how etc, i don’t engage in diet chat with anyone really.

KayeEyeEssEss · 04/10/2024 14:03

Week 6 weigh in, 2nd week on 5mg, and I’m 900g (just shy of two pounds) down.

SW 107 kg (bmi 39.9)
CW 100.5 kg (bmi 37.4)
GW 64 kg (bmi 23.8)

I’m really excited to get back to double figures hopefully in this coming week, but first I’m celebrating my recent milestones - I’ve lost more than 5% of my starting weight, and reduced my bmi from the very top of category 2 obese to mid category!

I have a theory that my previous weight set points might take a little longer to get through, and around 100 kg was one of those for me. But I’m starting to trust the process and feeling positive that even if it’s slower I’ll get there eventually. Onwards and downwards!

gimmemounjaro · 05/10/2024 09:50

Weigh day for me after 12 weeks:

SW: 241.2 lbs / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 214.5 lbs / 15st 4 / BMI 31.7
GW: 154 lbs?

-3.6 lbs this week
-26.7 lbs in total
30% of the way there now

On 2.5mg, -4.4 lbs
On 5mg, -12.8 lbs
On 7.5mg, -9.5 lbs

It's very unpredictable - excluding the very first week, my weekly results range from losing 6.6lbs to gaining 1.3lbs 🤯

I'm staying on 7.5mg for now as weight loss hasn't eased off over the 4 weeks this time. Hoping for a consistent few weeks 🤞
(Although I have a family celebration all of next weekend which is bound to be quite challenging as everyone drinks like a fish and eats like a horse 🐟🐴)

Darlinghag · 05/10/2024 09:58

Well done everyone!

I’ve lost 1.3lbs this week!

This morning I started my second period since MJ, and omg its painful! I usually have pain on day 1/2 but i woke up in the middle of the night with it being twice as strong.

WeAllHaveWings · 05/10/2024 13:57

Droopy Drawers 44 (bingo call) is very apt this week, 44lbs lost and eventually had to relent and I have ordered some new knickers 🩲 and a pair of jeans👖. I have been trying (and failing) to improve my steps, but knickers kept needing hoiked back up inside my jeans!

End of week - 15 (5 x 2.5mg, 10 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 42.8
CW - 18st 3lbs BMI 36.5
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2
Total loss - 3st 2lbs (44lbs), 14%
Current Target - 17st by Christmas🎄 (11 weeks, 17lbs to go!)

This morning I got a routine Breast Screening Programme letter with an appointment for the end of the month, maybe boobs will fit in the machine better this time now they are more floppy 🙈🤣

Well done everyone for this weeks wins or for just staying in play!

BingoWingsOverScotland · 05/10/2024 15:08

Droopy Drawers 44 would be a great poster name!

dontstopmenow · 05/10/2024 17:12

Week one of 7.5mg and I have had terrible tummy pain, bloating, awful loose stools (sorry tmi) and sulphur burps.
has anyone experienced similar and found anything to help?
I can’t work with these symptoms as I am in and out of peoples houses for my job.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 05/10/2024 21:34

Sorry you are suffering,
@dontstopmenow. It’s very common on a new dose. I am sorry to say that the only thing that helps me is fasting, or at least eating very little and absolutely nothing rich or fatty, until the symptoms have passed.
