Mounjaro July 2024

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

I did my first dose last night so happy to join the July train!

I woke up at 3am feeling really sick, but managed to get back to sleep ok and it's mostly passed now - I do feel a bit queasy but in the way you do when you're feeling really full up. No aches/pains/headaches/diarrhea to speak of (yet...)

I don't feel hungry at ALL, the thought of eating something right now makes me feel a bit sick, however I've never been a breakfast/morning eater so I think the real test will be in the evenings.

I've done intermittent fasting on and off over the last 4+years, which has worked to various degrees of success, however i can never sustain it. My downfall is always portion control and will power - if I really want something I will simply eat it, and then I will eat more and more, because in for a penny, in for a pound right?? I was always a skinny kid, teenager, young woman, and then pregnancy and my thirties happened so did all the extra weight.

I've used ZAVA for my first pen - I know lots of other people have already shared codes but just in case someone still needs one/wants to be nice - mine is REFSWEMU.
15% off, taking them down to £122 a pen, the cheapest I've seen. They were also easy to order from and got approved and dispatched quickly!

Snozzlemaid · 01/07/2024 12:46

@CatTraveler I ordered my first pen from medical express but then moved to Zava for my second due to cost.
My start weight was 18st 6, so ideally would like to lose 8 stone! 1stone lost so far, 5 weeks in.
It was straightforward ordering from both.
For Zava I had to send two photos. One full length straight on which I wore close fitting clothes for. And one showing my feet on scales showing my current weight.
Once approved it arrived quickly. I had emails all through the order process and get them still now with info and a reminder to order next pen.
I have been logging my food on my fitness pal for now. Mostly to teach myself what I need to eat each day to remain healthy and within an acceptable calorie range. Previously I couldn't have imagined I could survive on how little I eat now. Hoping to learn good habits I can continue if I ever reach a good weight I can come off of MJ.
So far it's been the best decision I've ever made for me.

MounjaroMunchie · 01/07/2024 13:06

Day two for me, after injecting fairly late on Saturday night. No noticeable change in appetite yet but my god, these neck/shoulder pains are something else - it's like the day after a particularly punishing gym session! I can also feel that most of my lymph nodes are swollen and tender, especially the upper body ones.

LittleLlama · 01/07/2024 14:27

Arrived Saturday and my first injection was done on Sunday. I decided to inject into my stomach as that will hopefully lead to the quickest absorption rate. Read the instruction leaflet twice, and still managed to make a minor mistake!

So far I have only had very minor side effects, stomach ache, dry mouth and tiredness. I am taking vitamin and mineral supplements..just in case. I have also decided to try to take light exercise so I got the old Wii fit out and have completed 30 minutes of step.

Well Done Everyone!

SailorGeri · 01/07/2024 14:40

First day for me was Saturday. I injected in to my thigh in the evening. I can already feel a loss of appetite, but it's more that I just don't want to snack at all. I made cookies yesterday and I've only had one! No other side effects so far.
I am 55 and have gained three stone in menopause so I am determined to lose some of that.

scoobysnaxx · 01/07/2024 15:53

OMG I just ordered. Can't believe I've done it. I feel sick 😂

Thanks @snickleback for your code.

Here's my code if anyone else wants to join and take the plunge!! It gives you 15% off!

This seems to be quite common after the very first injection. I found it was much better after 24 hours and has not happened since.

Here’s my Zava code if anyone would like it.

DoctorMartin · 01/07/2024 17:45

@Lumirubin have you had dose 2 yet? Did your appetite come back over the weekend? My second dose is due in 24 hours but not sure I'm going to need it yet!

That's good to know! I've been doing some reading on electrolytes and I feel much better after a single dose of those, I can feel it easing off already. Could be a coincidence though!

Lumirubin · 01/07/2024 19:53

I took my second injection this evening, so feels like a good progress point.

SW 18st 1lbs
CW 17st 8lbs
Total loss 7lbs

I'm really happy with that for week one! I've not managed to curb the obsessive weighing habbit I get myself into when loosing weight, so I've weighed most days oops! I've been steady at 7lbs loss for the last 3 days. Hoping that 7lbs isn't just my water weight and that I'm not going to be one of the people this works for :( I've definitely been eating ALOT less than normal and I haven't had a snack between meals for the full 7 days which is just crazy unheard of for me! So I just need to trust in my new eating habbits and carry on. Also need to ditch the scales!

Just done first injection! I wasn't worried about the injection as after millions of fertility treatment ones, I'm an old hand. Weighing in kg because it's got no emotional resonance for me.

SW: 80.1 kg
GW: 57 kg

These injections are nothing in comparison to the blunt ass needle of a fyremedal injection are they 😂although I have found the whole injecting myself again thing a slight trigger to the horror of IVF!

Ahh thanks @scoobysnaxx! best of luck!

End of day one and I’m feeling good. Have not been hungry at all, had to tell myself to eat something at dinner time. I did feel my appetite perk up as I was eating but I was full/felt satiated v quickly. Usually I’d be scurrying around the kitchen desperate for a little treat by this time of night but I have no interest at all!

I understand now why people have said it’s so hard to get your protein in, I have definitely not hit my target today and couldn’t eat another thing, so I’ll be looking into getting some protein shakes or similar - does anyone have recommendations/best place to buy?

MounjaroMunchie · 01/07/2024 21:55

That's an amazing loss @Lumirubin -well done!

@snickleback I like My Protein, mainly because you can buy samples of most of their options instead of shelling out £££ on full cans and then finding it makes you heave! I get on better with clear whey (like a juice / cordial style drink) than creamy / milky ones, and they have a decent selection of those

My referral code should get you £10 off and free delivery if you spend £45 which unfortunately, is easily done.

Hello - hope this is the right/best place to ask these questions.

I have made the decision that weight loss injections are the best way for me at the moment, I have at least 10 stone to loose to get to a "healthy" BMI. I have tried every diet under the sun and had some sucess with calorie counting but it does seem I loose the same stone again and again. I have some issues with binge eatting but have been working on that and got it under control - still over eat but not the 6 bars of chocolate a night I did at times.

My questions;
I know that many people on here use Zava and Voy (I will find a referal code if I go with one of them), google gives a huge number of suppliers (including Juniper who appear on my FB feed regularly) - are Zava and Voy regarded as the best suppliers or any others I should consider. Anyone used them both to give me pros and cons of them?

When you sign up with a supplier do you need to reorder your injections or does it auto renew?

Do people still track what they eat in Nutracheck or anything?

I know that everyones experence is different and I have read that people have lack of energy, I assume slightly due to reduced calorie intake, do you find this stops you doing gym classes etc?

Anything else you wish you had known before starting?

Hello!!

You're very welcome. I used Zava (shared my codexthis morning) as I had read good things and it's cheapest for the first pen I think. They were easy to deal with.

People often move companies to save money again on their next order. If my code isn't used, I might switch to Voy for my next one.

I do still track on Nutracheck, I think it's important to keep an eye still - after reading posts of people not losing, I realised you still need to monitor your intake.

I started on Sat morning and haven't eaten more than 1100 calories a day since, I normally struggle to keep under 1600! I'm generally very hungry due to do doing a lot of cardio! This was a big worry for me but I've not had any negative side effects so far, just appetite suppression. I'm very lucky I think!

Good luck ❤️

NewLifter · 02/07/2024 08:28

Have a long shift in work today so wasn't sure what to eat this morning. Wasn't hungry but I've no idea when or if I will get a break (hospital based job) so was afraid to risk not eating 😂 ). So just had a handful of cherry tomatoes and a slice of cheese. Feeling great! However no bowel movement this morning so need to keep drinking today!

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Ugh, I just weighed myself (1st injection Friday), haven't lost anything yet. I've been religiously calorie counting too and haven't gone over 1200 a day. Have been on my period though. Will try not to weigh myself until Friday again

girljulian · 02/07/2024 10:19

Well, lesson learned not to inject in the morning! I came over all queasy and shaky yesterday afternoon and had to have a nap. Then I felt sick for the rest of the day and had horrific insomnia. This morning it seems better though. I don't feel actively sick but I can't imagine wanting to eat anything. Ordered a lot of high-protein bland food and will try to make sure I do eat today.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 02/07/2024 11:07

I've just ordered from Asda and awaiting approval. All being well, I hope to start on Sunday night.

I'm really apprehensive. I'm worried about side effects - nausea, fatigue and insomnia are things I could really do without! My biggest fear is meal-planning and tracking food. I have been on so many different diets I have no idea what I should or shouldn't eat anymore. I always did very well on low carb, but lost the willpower to keep it going so maybe the injections will help me go back to that.

Zarawithtiara · 02/07/2024 12:56

Thank you @lumirubin. Typing on my phone using mumsnet app - so confusing 🙃
Just tracked my order and my first pen is to be delivered today which is great as I'm wfh today and not in tomorrow. Let's hope it does arrive.
What time of the day is best to inject? When do side effects kick in if you have them?

Here is my Voy code if anyone wants to use it:

VelvetBow · 02/07/2024 13:00

Just ordered from Voy and awaiting approval. £85 off using one of your codes so an absolute bargain. I've been in with my dietician this morning and I'm 333lb. I piled on 4 stone with my baby who's now 10 weeks old so it's time to focus on my health again. I've lost 9lb in 3 weeks naturally but I really need some help so hoping Mounjaro will be it!

User364837 · 02/07/2024 13:55

My pen from zava has arrived! 🙌
going to inject this evening.
i quickly put it in the fridge before rushing out, can see sharps box but no box of spare needles which I was expecting: wondering if they’ve been forgotten? Does anyone know if the pen has one needle in it to start with? Then perhaps I can order some spares before next week.

if anyone would like a zava code for 15% mine is REF3DB2D.was the cheapest I could find but would be interested if anyone has found a better price (£139 before code)

User364837 · 02/07/2024 13:59

Oops starting weight 88kg, height 5’4, BMI 34+
would love to get BMI in late 20s, around 11st and a comfortable size 14. Haven’t been under 12 stone/ size 16 for years and currently 18-20 and feeling it in all sorts of ways. Have binge eating tendencies. Tried saxenda briefly and the type of nausea it gave me made me crave white bland carbs so hoping that doesn’t happen 🤞
