Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

@Mounjarome if you use STARTNOW on MedExpress it gives you 15% off.

I was only just over 30 and they accepted me with a body pic

Getting my first 5mg pen tomorrow but I'm a little concerned that 5 will be too strong for me. Has anyone tried just having like 3 or 4mg? How would I do that? What would I turn the dial to?

I’m going to do 3.75 I think (or see how I get on with my bonus dose tomorrow which I’m hoping will be 3ish.)
There was a useful post re. Number of clicks you count, I screenshotted it, will see if I can find it

Here it is

Sorry it’s a bit blurry but apparently 45 clicks will give you 3.75

DoctorMartin · 29/07/2024 21:51

@User364837 amazing, thank you! Let me know how you get on - I am quite keen to try this as my appetite suppression on 2.5mg has been quite scary at times. I like the fact that I can do eight weeks instead of five tooSmile

Be aware that you are meant to discard the pen after 30 days once opened. This is clearly written in the leaflet that comes with every pen. You can do a 5th dose in that time frame, but that is all.

PlinkyPlonkyDonkey · 29/07/2024 22:00

Umm...I don't seem to like chocolate any more. Haven't had any in a month, since starting MJ. Just had one square, thought yuck and didn't want any more. This is very bizarre!!

DoctorMartin · 29/07/2024 22:56

@IrisPallida ah yes, I had actually forgotten that. But what is worst case scenario? It just loses its potency?

IrisPallida · 30/07/2024 00:19

@DoctorMartin I believe the risk is because of contamination. Someone on Reddit claims that they asked Eli Lilly directly about this and was told that there is a preservative in the EU/UK 4 dose Kwikpen version (USA Mounjaro is only supplied as a single dose, so this does not apply there) and they know that this will keep the contents good for a month after the seal is broken. However they apparently stated that they have not tested/don't know what the efficacy is after that month.

I have to say that sounds very likely to me - that the liquid is tested and demonstrated to be 100% effective over the required length of time for the required doses and that it would not be necessary to test further to find exactly at what point it starts to degrade and become ineffective and prone to contamination. So we don't know whether you might be OK pushing that 30 days for another week (you probably would be), or even another 4 weeks (I wouldn't, myself). We don't know, so the risk is impossible to calculate.

Eli Lilly clearly have tested a variety of other conditions that would affect the contents over the normal usage lifespan of the pen, hence they can be categorical that it must be stored chilled and used within 30 days once no longer chilled, which is why pharmacies delivering unchilled pens to customers is actually a huge issue and I personally think customers should always return warm pens, full stop. And Eli Lilly are very clear that pens that freeze by mistake must NOT be used - I would expect that these would not just be ineffectual but could be dangerous.

Hi all, I’m considering trying this but unsure if I meet the criteria. Any advice is appreciated

I am very short, and used to have a healthy BMI at around 50kg.

I weigh around 75kg, which is obese for my height. However due to my height I don’t necessarily look that different in clothes. I mainly carry extra weight on my stomach, back and thighs which can be hidden with clothing. So I’m worried about having to send photos of my body, as I’ll probably have to wear underwear. Is sending photos a requirement for medexpress?

finally, are there any tips about keeping this as cost effective as possible? I know about the discount codes but most of them can only be used on the first order, so is it best to shop at a new provider for the next dose etc?

DoctorMartin · 30/07/2024 05:39

@IrisPallida that is very interesting - thank you.

@crampyi - you don't need to be wearing just underwear in the pic. Some providers ask for a scales pic rather than a body. Others no pic at all - I believe Asda?

Asda ask for picture on scales with date and body picture.

Obviously providers are doing their best to protect against people abusing the drug.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 30/07/2024 07:42

Asda need a photo and I sent one in leggings and a tight top - a side view of my body, totally covered but in form fitting clothes.

SilenceInside · 30/07/2024 08:09

@crampyi I went with Asda too, and did my photos in leggings and a stretchy T shirt that I could just about squeeze into. No need for pics in just underwear. The doctor reviewing your request just needs to be able to see that you are approximately the weight that you're stating and not significantly smaller.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 30/07/2024 08:35

I'm with Asda

I did push my
Tummy out as Much as Possible but they accepted
Me as I was Just Borderline bmi so was a bit worried I'd be refused.

Mounjarorookie · 30/07/2024 09:14

thanks to all who welcomed me last week. You are not wrong about my GP and her obsession with me getting to below recommended weights but I’m ignoring the nasty witch and doing this for me. I’ll know when I’m happy and I don’t care if she isn’t!

so, progress in week 1 - I’ve lost 4 pounds which I’m really happy with.
SW - 13 2
weight when pen arrived - 13
end of week 1 weight - 12 10

ive had no side effects (touch wood). I have zero interest in food, totally unsure if it’s a placebo affect or actually working but this morning was the first time I’ve had any hunger pangs (they’ve gone now which is good).

so onwards and upwards - well downwards really 😁

I haven’t posted all week but I’ve been reading along so thanks to everyone who posts, it really does help in feeling that I could ask questions and that I’m not alone. I’ll try to post more but I haven’t really had much to say - maybe that’s a side effect, I’m never normally stuck for words 😂

i have a code on my Voy account for 50% off - https://joinvoy.com/r/U-AwgF5PTZyX

is it ok to post here or should I be posting it somewhere else?

BamberGirl · 30/07/2024 13:39

Just ordered my second pen…I’ve stuck with 2.5 mg as I still have good suppression and I don’t want to risk the side effects of going up as all fine at the moment.

it says delivery Fri-Weds next week, so I really need to get the bonus dose out on Weds when back from holiday to tide me over!

my discount code is from zava if anyone would be kind enough to use. (I have posted since start of this thread 😂)

There’s no better gift than the gift of good health. Use my code and you’ll get 15% off your first order at ZAVA: REFZ27XB
www.zavamed.com/uk/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=refer_a_friend
Maximum discount value: £30

BamberGirl · 30/07/2024 13:40

I do think it’s paid for itself over the last month simply in the lack of shite I’ve not bought to eat!!

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 30/07/2024 18:49

I'm a bit worried now as I'm on week 4 of 2.5mg and the appetite suppression is noticeably less - and I've got another 2.5mg pen for next month! Slightly concerned that it will wear off entirely. I'm on holiday next week and don't want to undo the hard work of this last month. The suppression has been so powerful all the way up to yesterday, the day after Jab 4 so I thought it would keep working. I just couldn't face bad side effects on holiday, that's why I ordered a second 2.5mg pen.

Anyway, on the plus side I finally got a bit of a whoosh at the end of the third week and I've lost 10lbs total in 24 days which I'm happy about.

User364837 · 30/07/2024 19:35

I just did my bonus dose, with a syringe. It looked visually about similar to one 2.5mg dose and in my syringe it showed as 60 which I think is 0.6ml 🤔 was hoping for 0.8ml which I think is more like 3 as a stepping stone to my 5mg pen but happy enough with that and a “free” week!
am on holiday and just had a small glass of wine (but can feel effect of it) so I guess we’ll find out what happens when you inject at the same time as having alcohol! 😬 I don’t normally tend to feel effects from the pen until afternoon of the day after

User364837 · 30/07/2024 19:40

Ah yes, just checked and 0.6ml is exactly a normal 2.5mg dose

JaneFallow · 30/07/2024 19:45

Interested in everyone's decision making on 2.5 Vs 5 at the end of month 1. There is a chart on the main thread showing those who move up to larger doses do lose significantly more weight in the long run. Not quite sure if other factors are at play though?

I'll definitely move up to 5mg after my second month - for me, it was reading about people's side effects from doubling the dose and not wanting to face that in August when I have a holiday booked, two really major work events and a fun event I've been looking forward to for over a year all in the first two weeks! I couldn't risk jeopardising any of it with extreme fatigue or bad gastro effects. My first week on 2.5mg I was kind of a zombie, the exhaustion hit me so badly. I'll be moving up in September when my schedule quietens down.

MounjaroMunchie · 30/07/2024 20:41

I've done my 4 weeks on 2.5mg and my bonus dose of 3.75mg. I've got my 5mg pen ready to go on Thursday morning and after a couple of weeks feeling apprehensive, I feel that I'm ready for it now. My body may disagree, but there's only one way to find out!
