Mounjaro July 2024

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

Weigh-in: I've gone up this week! By 400g apparently, but still. Clearly I'm ready to move up to the 5mg, I'm eating as normal again.

My delivery from Oxford Online Pharmacy arrived today, very well packed and with a lot of needles and a large sharps bin.

It seems to be good value, I paid about £148-odd including shipping.

I'm also buying from Oxford - it'll be good to know how you get on as I was thinking is it a genuine site with genuine meds as I haven't had great results.

KeepinOn · 26/07/2024 16:37

The packaging all seems legit. I'm not due my next injection until Thursday so we'll see!

JessicaPeach · 26/07/2024 18:24

I'm off to do my 'hard twist' dose in a minute. Feel a bit nervous as I've felt quite ropey today. Thankfully I only have to endure a swim squad session first thing in the morning (watching not participating!) then I have a childfree day so I can wallow in whatever the slightly larger dose might hit me with!

Summerheels · 26/07/2024 20:07

@AJ1969 ive had noticeable reduction in menopause symptoms mainly less brain fog and large decrease in joint pain.

CatTraveler · 26/07/2024 22:40

JessicaPeach · 26/07/2024 08:30

I think that looks like you are pressing very hard on the site, you don't need to really, just hold it in place. I usually count to 10 after I've finished pressing to make sure it's all in. Press it down slow and steady

Thanks, I dont think I am pressing hard but I agree it does look like that- I dont think my injection "technique" is very good as there is no way I can count the clicks when I do it as it goes to fast. Anyone suggest any videos that I can watch to master this?

Lumirubin · 26/07/2024 22:41

Some great losses today! Well done all.

I'm day 5 post 5mg injection today and the suppression has lessened slightly like it did on the 2.5mg. Got home from work, saw the garlic bread left overs from DHs dinner and couldn't resist! TBF I've barely eaten anything at work all day because it's been mental! So I'm probably still well in a calorie deficit. New symptom I've had today though is leg cramps. Could be because I've not sat down in 13 hours (although that's normal for me at work) or could be a side effect. I've had cramps like this when I've cut carbs in the past, so I think I need to be aware of not cutting them out too much in a bid to get protein in.
Having a tiny glass of wine before bed despite another 13 hour shift tomorrow, wish me luck! Haha

@CatTraveler I get mine all ready and dialled before I put the needle in my skin so I just press it down, I don't count them, just whack it in

JessicaPeach · 26/07/2024 23:40

My hard twist was an absolute disaster. Broke the pen, had no syringes, went to 3 pharmacies and by the last one the pharmacist said 'if you are desperate (and desperate was doing a lot of heavy lifting) you could try a needle exchange' Anyway, not deterred because I am a desperado, I then found out there aren't any open on a Friday night.

Came home and in the end my husband managed to get into it properly and we had to push the plunger part down with a skewer. But it's in! No idea what dose but you best believe I got every last drop out of there after sweating over the one with some pliers and a screwdriver for about an hour 🤣🤣

Snozzlemaid · 26/07/2024 23:42

@CatTraveler If you need to count the clicks you do so when winding the pen before doing the injection, not whilst pushing the end of pen in during the jab.

diian · 27/07/2024 07:22

@JessicaPeach I had the same problem doing the hard twist. I have been away on holiday for 2 weeks. I had an upset tummy a week before I went so I was nervous about taking a dose whilst away. I was doing a group tour in SE Asia so did not want an upset tummy on coach journey or being ill with squat toilets the only option.

So I took my pen with the bonus dose in, ready to do it once the tour was over and I was staying in a nice hotel for a few days. I did the hard twist, injected, but the plunger would not plunge. Tried again… failure. My last proper dose was on 10th July and I have been eating relatively normally, not over-indulging at the all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast but not having suppression either for a good 2 weeks.

I lost 11lbs in 3 weeks with my first 4 injections.
starting weight 13 st 4
after 3 weeks 12st 7

I jumped on the scales today: 12st 7.5
Not bad for 2 weeks of holiday without a jab.
I have insulin needles coming today for the bonus dose (day 37 since starting the pen, but I am loathed to waste the dose).

I am back on the mounjaro journey!

Summerheels · 27/07/2024 07:30

That’s good @diian to maintain in a hot country and on holiday I bet you whoosh later this week. I managed to maintain on holiday but I was struggling to work out quantities without my scales go weigh things despite trying to by counting spoonfuls of servings etc.
I’m Wk6 and lost 16lbs averaging 2.6lbs a week which I’m really happy with as in my 50s nothing was shifting this belly fat but it feels like it’s literally melting off me now!

I don’t understand what you mean about counting clicks when it goes in?

i thought counting clicks only comes into if if you are not doing a full dose (i.e. turning it to 1).

I too am going to be on holiday when attempting to take bonus dose next Tuesday (UK though) I do have the next pen ready but would rather not transport it and worry about refridgeration. I do have syringes at the ready though so hope there’s not much that can go wrong 🤞

User364837 · 27/07/2024 10:56

And I think as long as you count 5 seconds after the syringe has gone all the way down, that should be enough time for all the liquid to go in

IrisPallida · 27/07/2024 11:35

I think some people get all their info from social media rather than reading the leaflet that is in the box with every pen. Having had a look at some of the absolute dangerous shite that is spouted on Tiktok and Facebook I am not surprised.

TurningPointe · 27/07/2024 11:49

I have a question, as I was pondering the increasingly baggy skin on my stomach this morning....

Is anyone actively trying to counteract this side effect of losing weight by taking collagen? Or wraps?

I'll take the crepe paper skin over staying fat, as I can hide it with clothes, but if there's things I could be doing, I'd like to!

JaneFallow · 27/07/2024 12:25

Hello, may I join you? I started two weeks ago, have just done my third injection and have lost just about 10 lbs. I am not calorie counting, but have eliminated simple carbs from my diet and am mainly eating protein, vegetables and fruit. I am effortlessly eating smaller portions than I am used to and am not quite so driven to snack.

Think I probably have 20 kilos to lose.

I am dog tired and ever so slightly flatter in mood than usual.

I read Johann Hari's The Magic Pill last week and would really recommend that.

I am trying in parallel to self-coach myself through behaviour change around food, using Sharoo Izadi's book, The Last Diet. I am really interested in everyone's plans for maintenance and long term lifestyle changes.

I already take collagen I take the liquid reverse life one a cap full per day which I would recommend. Hair loss is also a side effect so taking biotin also.

I weighed in this morning and am pleasantly surprised to have lost 18lbs in 4 weeks. Have just taken some progress photos and it appears that all of that has been lost from my previously very large face! My cheekbones are like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon 🤣

I was wondering about collagen too but I'm not sure there's really that much you can do for loose skin is there, it's stretched beyond bouncing back (referring here to my tummy really, I had a set of twins who were very big for dates so I don't expect to get that part of me back intact!)

Well done this is amazing! 🤩

Summerheels · 27/07/2024 15:42

@JaneFallow the tiredness can ease but I found adding back in some carbs helped me. Like Brown rice or a banana plus I exercise every day & I was exhausted trying to live off mostly protein & veg but this has helped me a lot, I’m also gluten free so I already avoid all bread & pasta but I do love a small portion of mashed potatoes.

MounjaroMunchie · 27/07/2024 18:09

Week 4 weigh-in on 2.5mg

SW - 12st 7.0lb
Wk 1 - 5.2lb
Wk 2 - 2.2lb
Wk 3 - 1.6lb
Wk 4 - 2.2lb
CW - 11st 9.8lb

Total loss 11.2lb. I'd have liked to have lost a stone in those first 4 weeks but considering I'm still not on a therapeutic dose and that's reasonably steady weight loss, I'm pretty darn happy so far!

SJLOUNJARO · 27/07/2024 18:34

@MounjaroMunchie well done that's good going I'm 6lb down in 2 weeks hoping for same again over next two 🤞🏻
