Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

End of week 3 on 2.5mg (I inject on Thursday evenings due to moving my second dose forward, but kept Saturday as my weigh day)

SW 12st 7.0lb
CW 11st 12lb

Week 1 - 5.2lb
Week 2 - 2.2lb
Week 3 - 1.6lb

So 9lbs down in 3 weeks. I'm looking forward to 5mg to see what a therapeutic dose actually does for me, but like @Lumirubin and @WeepingInASunlitRoom also feeling quite apprehensive.

SJLO · 20/07/2024 22:15

Just took my 2nd jab and when I took pen away some squirted out! Can I do it wrong what if I didn't get in properly 😭 has this happened with anyone else?? I suppose I'll know tomorrow if I'm starving!!!

Lumirubin · 21/07/2024 08:17

@SJLO I'm sure you still got most of the dose. It's 0.6mls through such a tiny needle that it would take ages to squirt all that out. You've probably lost a tiny tiny bit of it.

Daily weighing bit me in the arse this morning, 3lbs heavier than yesterday morning. Realistically I know I haven't gained 3lbs of fat in 12 hours, it's more likely that I'm due on soon so the pre period fluid gain is happening, but still makes you feel frustrated!

Hopefully it means I'll have a good loss this week from my first 5mg and I should hopefully be on the other side of AF!

Lumirubin · 21/07/2024 12:10

Also, I can confirm that the 5mg dose hits differently! 3 hours later and I was repulsed by 90% of the food I saw in Asda doing my shop. Feeling nauseous but only the same amount as I did on 2.5mg, just come on alot quicker! Hoping it doesn't escalate

OP posts:
WeepingInASunlitRoom · 21/07/2024 12:22

Good luck @Lumirubin I hope it subsides! I think I'm likely to stick on 2.5 for August, despite all my grumbling about not losing quickly. Otherwise I go up to 5mg the week I go on holiday, followed by a week of important work events so loads of travelling - I can't risk being ill for it all.

Also, although I'm officially at the end of Week 2 and only down 5lbs in total, I feel lighter and more energetic and still very suppressed even though I haven't done the third jab yet today.

Lumirubin · 21/07/2024 12:56

@WeepingInASunlitRoom 5lbs in 2 weeks is still a decent weight loss! I'm the opposite in that my September is busy both work and holiday. So I was hoping to step up to the 5 and stay on that forever or until October when I get home from holiday

OP posts:
WeepingInASunlitRoom · 21/07/2024 13:05

It feels like so little in comparison to other people's losses - 3lbs week 1 and 2lbs week 2. But if that continues, the weight will still come off.

KeepinOn · 22/07/2024 12:04

The 2.5mg dose has had zero effect on me this week. I'm struggling to keep motivated - I think I need to buy the 5mg soon to focus the mind. Roll on payday.

Mounjaroooooh · 22/07/2024 13:18

I'm looking forward to starting the 5mg as the 2.5mg doesn't seem to having much effect, I had my 4th jab yesterday, I did post after my third saying that it seemed to have kicked in but it lasted about 2 days!

I have lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks (8, 4 and 3) but I've done that by calorie counting (being way under) which I could've done without the jab. Seriously hoping the 5mg kicks in, I'm just toying with bothering with the bonus dose or going straight to 5 next week

Tillymanilli · 22/07/2024 14:40

Hi,

just a quick update. I took my fifth jab last Friday and went up to the 5mg. No side effects yet and no real appetite but I’m eating healthy and tracking calories still.

I lost a stone in 4 weeks so I’m really pleased with that. Looking forward to getting into the 12st bracket. My clothes feel better already.

I am only going to weigh monthly now I know this is working for me. If all okay with no side effects this month I’m also planning on going up a dose as recommended.

good luck everyone

My stats so far:
Starting weight: 14st 1lb
Week 1 : 13st 7lb
Week 2: 13st 6lb
week 3: 13st 3lb
week 4: 13st 1lb

Total Lost: 1st
Goal weight: 10st

Lumirubin · 22/07/2024 16:59

@KeepinOn I think the 2.5 not working for some people is totally normal, so fingers crossed for the 5mg.

Well done on the losses! Weighing monthly would be amazing to suddenly see such a drop on the scales, but I'm definitely not that disciplined, I'll be lucky if I cut back to weekly haha. Which is such a change from pretending the scales didn't exist for 12 months!

I took my first 5mg yesterday and it's definitely stronger than the 2.5mg. I've felt nauseous this morning and then again from 2pm ish onwards, funnily enough the exact same times my nausea would hit when I was pregnant, although I suppose they are both hormonal so not that surprising. All I've managed all day is a coffee which is really bad!! Its been a combination of low appetite/nausea and being stuck because my car broke down. I'm heading out for dinner tonight though so I'm sure I'll meet my calories for the day, just not in a healthy spread out way

I’m due my 4th 2.5 mg tmw am and still having good suppression. I’ve been away since sat on holiday so not weighed but not eating loads, I am having a small meal out with the family most days (not told them), just ordering a starter, but generally fruit and yoghurt for breakfast and fruit for lunch.
The lack of 💩 is alarming though not making me feel unwell/bloated as constipation usually would. I think I’ve had two 💩 since last jab on weds, I’m normally once a day….where is it going??? 🤷‍♀️😱😂

im not back until next Weds when my next dose is due so going to order another 2.5 to arrive Thurs or Fri and hopefully get the bonus dose out on Weds.

good to hear how everyone else is getting on!

yajustneverknow · 23/07/2024 09:04

I'm starting to worry I'm not eating properly. Yesterday I ate a bowl of honey almond granola and chippy tea cause we're away. Did a big walk yesterday too. I lost 3lb after 1 week, didn't weigh for second week as I weigh at work and I was off with Covid, took my third jab last Friday and due my 4th 2.5 this Friday. Im going to order my 5mg pen on Friday and will aim to monitor my protein intake. I'm going to buy bulk protein weigh as I'll find that easier to make and take when I just don't feel like making food.

I'm going to start with some protein too as I am the same. I'm eating next to nothing really and although the food noise has stopped I'm not making any effort to make sure what I am eating is good. I've still been indulging in cans of coke (don't think there's any medication on earth that could stop me wanting that) and yesterday all I had calorie wise was a Coke and a hotdog because I realised when I was dishing up the kids that in hadn't eaten anything! But then of course I didn't want anything else after that and about 11pm I felt quite ropey.

I'm thinking some sort of protein shake in the morning, maybe a huel one so it's 'nutritionally complete'

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 23/07/2024 09:22

In my third week I'm finding I keep thinking I'm hungry until I eat and then realise I'm not! First two weeks I didn't feel hunger at all. So my appetite suppression is still very strong, but it feels a little different - like I'm getting twinges of false hunger, especially late afternoon (always my most snacky time).

Now my kids are on the summer holidays, I'm already sick of planning, preparing and cooking food three times a day lis being pestered for snacks non stop and it makes me feel like I can't be bothered eating anything myself. Pre-MJ I would be living off quick carbs, now I feel reluctant to eat at all - neither is a good option obviously. And we're only a couple of days in to the six week break!! I'm really looking forward to going on holiday and having a break from catering. I've lost all my enthusiasm for making interesting salads at lunch. Food is fuel in the most tedious way right now.

I am also struggling horribly with fatigue, I'm finding it so hard to muster up any energy at all. It lifted at the weekend, but then I injected again and it's come crashing back. I'm drinking tons of water, prioritising protein, having daily electrolytes and a multivitamin but I'm exhausted and finding the gym very challenging. I feel like my body is so resistant to burning fat, it is fighting back by trying to keep me inactive now it's noticed the calorie deficit. It wants to hold on to the extra weight! I am hoping this is a matter of adaptation and that my energy will improve when my body gets used to it.

JessicaPeach · 23/07/2024 09:36

I feel exactly the same with it all @WeepingInASunlitRoom , I just can't be bothered to eat anything, even when I do feel a bit hungry!

And yes, so tired. It would be a nice feeling of lying on the sofa watching tv kind of tired if I didn't have loads of kids to look after 🤣

KeepinOn · 23/07/2024 09:48

Well, after posting here to say my hunger is back to normal, I barely ate yesterday due to stress. One of our hens is very poorly and I'm feeling sick with guilt/sadness. She's on her way out today. :( She's an ex-battery hen we ended up with after moving house last month, and I've tried to give her a good life in the time we've been responsible for her, but she's riddled with parasites that I didn't see until the weekend and me trying to treat her has caused her too much stress to cope with. The pet guilt diet. :(

yajustneverknow · 23/07/2024 10:35

I'm taking a multivitamin but I don't think it's enough. We get back from camping Thursday so I plan to buy the protein whey, stock up on protein bagel thins and protein yogurts. Covid hasn't helped at all so either. I've just had my reminder email from zava and luckily someone has used my discount code so I can get it a little cheaper.

thinkfast · 23/07/2024 10:56

Is anyone else weighing daily? I find it helps to keep me on track, but gained 1.5lb this morning compared to yesterday, which has disappointed me. Hopefully it's just a blip and tomorrow I'll be back on track. I'm on week 2 and finding my appetite suppression is less than week 1. In week one I really struggled to eat and finish meals, but this week so far I don't really feel hungry, but if food's in front of me, I'll eat it.

SilenceInside · 23/07/2024 11:04

@thinkfast I tend to weigh daily, as I don't like to be surprised on my "official" weekly weigh in day. But, I have to remind myself constantly that it's an interim point and not to be downhearted if they show a gain or the same weight as before. I'm also weighing in Kg rather than stones/lbs as weirdly I find it easier to deal with dispassionately, compared to seeing my weight in stones/lbs.

EricCatman · 23/07/2024 11:40

I weigh daily - can’t resist!

We’ve just had a really sociable few days away with friends. Many meals out. My husband is now worried he’s going to get fat as I have been having about a quarter of the meals I ordered and making him eat the rest!

yajustneverknow · 23/07/2024 12:24

I haven't weighed since the day I took my second jab. I was 3lb down and haven't weighed since. I'm feeling rather fat today so I'm thinking I've actually gained. Had a few social events on lately and had a bit to drink so it's to be expected I suppose.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 23/07/2024 12:25

I am weighing daily and it was getting to me, but I'm plotting each day's weight on a graph on an app that comes with my scales and that smooths it all into a generally downward curve which makes it easier as you can see even with stalls and fluctuations that it's headed in the right direction overall.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 23/07/2024 12:54

Also, re the fatigue - I've been low carbing pretty much by default, have gone off most carbs and have been focusing so much on protein when I can eat anyway but today after I posted about being tired I had a slice of sourdough and marmite before the gym and I feel miles better, and my workout was energising rather than agonising. I think I've had a touch of carb-flu. I'm still going to keep carbs to a minimum but I might make sure I have them before exercise if it helps me avoid the awful weakness and exhaustion.

JessicaPeach · 23/07/2024 13:31

I weigh daily too, I never record a gain, I just wait for it to go, as with this, I know it will. I'm always in deficit so any gain isn't fat so I try to view it dispassionately
