Mounjaro July 2024

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

@CatOfTheLand I'm only 4'11" so my weight still has me in the obese category!

I would definitely try and push through with eating, even if you don't feel like it - it's not healthy to not eat and your body need fuel to function. I mean, I know you want it to start using up your fat stores, but still!

Maybe try 2-3 small meals a day, take it slowly, and stop when you feel full. I try to prioritise protein and veg, then fruit and carbs if I have room and fancy them.

I'm not much taller than you either and also technically obese.

I'm a bit worried that I'm going to accidentally eat too few calories (something I never thought I'd say!) and give myself a heart attack or kidney failure or something 😭

At the moment I'm just eating chicken and veg type meals when I can eat!

Another Loser here!

Still a little nervous regarding the injections…but much better this morning.

Week 1 loss 1.6kg
Week 2 loss 1.1kg
Total loss 2.7kg

I feel much more confident that I will continue to lose weight with this medication than anything I have tried before.

I don’t have total appetite suppressant, if I don’t eat breakfast I feel hungry at lunchtime, so I try to eat three smaller meals.

Light exercise is helping me with my energy levels.

Well Done Everyone!

Aitchtee · 13/07/2024 08:47

Finally got the courage to click on the order and it should arrive next week. Ordered with zava. Feel so excited but nervous to start, but I definitely need to do something. Been dieting on and off for years. Not planning to say to anyone apart from my husband. Still not told him yet though!

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 13/07/2024 09:22

Well I'm due my second injection of 2.5mg tomorrow and I am dreading it. The lack of food noise and total appetite suppression has been incredible, but the cost has been utter exhaustion and feeling ill all week and if that continues I won't be able to keep going - I'm dragging myself through the days hoping every day I'll wake up feeling better. I'm hoping that I have coincidentally caught a bug or that it's because I got my period this week and that next week won't be so bad but I'm anxious about tomorrow's injection making it worse. I've had no gastro symptoms, thank goodness, but feel like I have the flu.

And despite barely being able to eat, I've only lost 1lb. From a starting BMI of 40, it's hard to feel like that's worth feeling as though I've been hit by a truck all week.

That's me in bed after day 1

Injected about 8am and it was fine, followed the step by step instructions on the pdf and it was very clear. Only thing I was surprised about was how "long" it took to do the injection, I expected it to be a quick squeeze of the needle.

I have felt a bit woozy today but no other side effects, went out for my normal lunchtime walk.

Food wise it's been amazing, almost instantly I wasn't hungry, I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner but nothing else and didn't really want anything else. It's made me realise how much I eat out of habit, and I found myself thinking that I should have a snack and then realising I wasn't hungry and not having one🙃

Just got through to Zava. Mines not even been sent yet, even though it said despatched. Maybe next week they are saying 🙈

Summerheels · 13/07/2024 09:48

Whoop I managed to lose another 1lb despite being on holiday and actually felt in control of my food choices. I actually bought chocolate and forgot I had it so bought it home again! That never happens. I’m 0.5lb away from a stone off in 4 weeks. Which for a 50 something menopausal me is just short of amazing. No one has used my code yet if you’d like 15% off Zava approved me really quickly to move upto 5mg pen.

That's rubbish, I must have been lucky with mine.

thinkfast · 13/07/2024 12:30

Well got over last night's anxiety and so far today I feel ok.
I felt hungry when I woke up (I don't usually feel hungry til later. I had half a bagel and felt full, so stopped.
I still feel fill, which is unusual for me.
I'm having the following very very mild symptoms, so mild that I'm not sure if they are connected to MJ:

  • very slight stomach discomfort
  • tiredness (but less tired than before I injected)
  • headache but it lasted around 5 minutes
QueenEthelTheMagnificent · 13/07/2024 17:20

Hello lovies - have bitten the bullet and ordered my first pen today! I am worrying about it arriving in time (Voy) as I want it to coincide with 6 weeks of antibiotics that I can't drink alcohol with so I think it's a good starting place. Has anyone ordered from 2 suppliers at once? I'm seeing a few places are taking a while to send the pens out xx

EternalFatalist · 13/07/2024 18:02

I've been lurking on a few boards since I started thinking about going the Mounjaro route - hello everyone. I had my second 2.5mg injection yesterday and so far it's been good. My stats are as follows:

Start weight: 15 st 8 lbs (BMI = 37.2)
Current weight: 15 st 2 lbs
Goal weight: 9 st 0 lbs (BMI = 21.5)
Week 1 Loss = 6 lbs

No bad side effects yet. I notice that I'm not hungry every moment of every day, so that has been a good side effect. I am generally a healthy eater but I am a foodie and I love to cook and eat, which are bad traits when one has constant hunger.

Despite my horrendous BMI, I do not have any major health issues. My BP, blood sugar, cholesterol etc are all at really good levels. But I want to be back at a healthy weight (it all went wrong in the last 10 years), not obese. Hopefully Mounjaro will help. 😀

Summerheels · 13/07/2024 18:45

Just be careful @QueenEthelTheMagnificent as a couple of people on the main board mentioned that MJ reduced the effectiveness of the antibiotics.

thisbetheverse · 13/07/2024 18:55

User364837 · 12/07/2024 23:04

What day are you on since you injected? I seem to have 2-3 days of feeling a bit unwell then almost normal for the remaining 4 days or so til the next one (but have only done two injections). Tonight I had friends round for dinner and had bubbly, wine, and a full 2 course meal. I do feel realty full now - possibly more full than normal? And was a bit careful about not getting too drunk, but I still felt like I could enjoy it.
i want to be able to eat “normally” which includes special occasions sometimes.

That was day 6! Eaten a bit better today and feeling much better but it’s really put me off pizza / wine for a while!

girljulian · 13/07/2024 19:22

Third injection today! I’m really not at all hungry and struggling to eat much. Tonight I had a portion of cod in butter sauce, some veg and 1/3 of a ready mashed potato but couldn’t finish the potato or the veg. Bizarre.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 13/07/2024 20:08

Zava say they will deliver next day if you order before 4pm.
Ordered about 6am Thursday. At point of paying they warn you about delays...
Friday got a message to say it will be delivered Mon to Friday next week.
Royal mail have texted to say it will be delivered at 7.30pm tomorrow- since when have Royal mail worked on Sundays?

Wishthiswasntmypost · 13/07/2024 20:10

I haven't told anyone because I'm ashamed. 😞

So I'm stressed about being outed. Anyone else relate to this?

I also read on Reddit that a lot of people think this is lifelong medication....I've not signed up for this. Has anyone considered eating disorder counselling when they are thinking of stopping?

Thanks love it's not for anything life threatening it's a very exciting fungal toenail infection! But Dr said these ones aren't good for your liver so I'm taking that as the sign to get my drinking under control

BamberGirl · 14/07/2024 09:37

Hi all, I’m in week 2, had a weekend away at an event, wasn’t very hungry at all but I have been eating three small healthy meals a day. As we were out had two pizza slices for lunch from a van, that kept me going all day.

i have had minor sulphur burps but find that eating/drinking helps with these.

i need to order 2nd pen and thinking of staying on 2.5 mg as is having a good effect so far. I’ll have to order it to arrive this week though as away on hols for 10 days after. Feel things earlier than ideal as would like to be sure that 2.5 mg still effective after 4 weeks. What have you all found…did your suppression at 4 weeks stay the same as week 2?

other option is to use the extra dose on the day I get back then reorder then? (Additional
benefit that will be after payday!

is the extra dose easy to get out?

BamberGirl · 14/07/2024 09:38

Also…here is my code, would much appreciate if used.

I'm due my 4th 2.5mg tomorrow (where is the time going?!) but I think I'm going to pull it forward to today. The appetite suppression is totally gone, been gone since about Thursday. Also haven't had any side effects really this week.

So week 1 -7lbs
Week 2 -6lbs
Week 3 -3lbs
16lbs lost in total, I'm now in the 16's on the scales 16st 13lb. Sounds much better than the 18st 1lb I started at!

How is everyone getting on?

OP posts:
WeepingInASunlitRoom · 14/07/2024 09:48

I'm thinking of staying on 2.5 @bambergirl though in fairness I have only done one injection so far. Due the second one today and I'm putting it off as I've struggled so badly with fatigue and flu-type symptoms I'm recoiling from doing it. I still have total appetite suppression so it seems to be very effective. I'm going on holiday the week I'd be due to go up to 5mg and no way do I want to be dealing with even worse side effects then. I'm hoping I'm someone who can stay on 2.5mg for a while.

That said, I only lost 3lbs in this first week so while the medication is clearly having a powerful effect on my body, it's not translating into a big loss.

BamberGirl · 14/07/2024 10:16

@Lumirubin did you have good suppression in the first couple of weeks?

BamberGirl · 14/07/2024 10:23

@WeepingInASunlitRoom im finding my losses come in fits and starts so you may have a boost in the next couple of days. 🤞

Summerheels · 14/07/2024 11:10

@BamberGirl i ordered the 5mg as it was same price with the logic I could count clicks to get 2.5mg or increase the dose if I felt it wasn’t working effectively. I’m definitely seeing my body adjust to 2.5mg in week4 so I’m glad I’ve got the option to increase if I need it.
