Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

When you say 'force the pen' how exactly do you do this?

This youtube video shows you. I am only on my first pen, 3rd dose, but going to try for a 5th dose when I get there.

I can't believe how tiny the needle looks in the video! I have 6mm pen needles, assume his is a 4mm. That is what puts me off using the insulin needle to draw it out as the only insulin needles seem to be 8mm.

Mounjaro Kwikpen - getting the "last dose" out of the pen - dose #5

Getting the 5th dose from a UK Mounjaro Kwikpen - just need a lil force :-)Loss to date: 24.6kg or 54lb = 2lb off 4 stone!!!!Starting weight: 143kg/315lb on...

This just didn’t work for me and i don’t know why, I twisted so hard the pen fell apart and still wouldn’t give up the last dose 😱😂

Ah thank you, I'll have a watch of that now, I'm still a couple of weeks from that point but I like to be prepared

Excited to be joining this thread after lots of lurking on the various mounts to thread. I've just ordered from Voy using one of the codes upthread.

It would be AMAZING if my medication would arrive tomorrow or over the weekend, but realistically I'm expecting it to get here early next week.....

User364837 · 11/07/2024 17:10

I don’t really understand about the bonus/fifth dose in the pen, can someone explain? I’m not sure I want to mess about with it too much if it’s not meant to be extracted!
do you then do a fifth week of 2.5mg, is it enough for that?

I was also wondering about titrating to 3.75mg instead of 5, as I noticed people on the other thread doing that. As doubling the dose seems like quite a lot. But unsure how you’d measure that

Aworldofmyown · 11/07/2024 17:14

I've just done my 2nd jab 😀

@User364837 yeah it was me. I had diarrhoea for 4 days after my second jab. But I've done my 3rd this week and have been absolutely fine! So don't let it get you down just yet

Thank you
fingers crossed 🤞!
it’s quite tricky navigating a new relationship with MJ, we only get to sleep over once a fortnight really because of kids and are going to this Saturday, really hoping I don’t have any embarrassing gastro issues then!

Snozzlemaid · 11/07/2024 18:00

I used a syringe to extract the 5th dose. I was worried about injecting myself that way having only ever used the pen before, but it was easy. The needles are so fine you don't feel it at all.
I'll find the link for the syringes I bought and post it. I've seen warnings about buying from Amazon as they're often not for human use or individually packaged.
I got a little more than the usual dose but I've seen other people get more than me. It should be at least another 2.5 dose though.

I used that for my 5th week and then did 3.75 out of my 5mg pen the week after.
You can get 3.75 from a 5mg pen by counting 45 clicks when turning the pen.

I only did one week at that dose and then did full 5 yesterday. So far it's been fine, thankfully. No bad side effects yet, I just feel very full most of the time.

Stupid question but do you just put the syringe into the end of the pen where you normally screw the needle on, and draw it up?

Snozzlemaid · 11/07/2024 18:39

Yes hold pen so liquid is at bottom. Stick syringe needle in through red bit and pull down on syringe to extract the liquid.

Penelopepitstop2306 · 11/07/2024 18:39

I've just done my first dose today. No pain at all so no need to be scared of the needle. I didn't ice my skin or anything so that was good. I'm hoping none or not too many side effects but I'm WFH tomorrow so can hopefully manage if I do have any. I'm struggling with my eating a lots at the moment so know I'm going to have to focus on what I eat. Any tips for a newbie very gratefully received.

KeepinOn · 11/07/2024 18:59

2nd 2.5ml dose tonight. I definitely noticed hunger suppression tapering off by Monday, and fully disappeared by Wednesday. I've been waiting until tonight to give it a full week between doses though. I was planning on weighing myself tomorrow at the GP, they have walk-in weighing rooms and that's where I got my SW, but I'm experiencing constipation now so wouldn't want the weigh-in to be impacted by that. 🙃

Jfw82 · 11/07/2024 19:49

Bexs2247 · 11/07/2024 21:34

Hey all, I joined here as I am considering my options with there’s to weight loss injections (it’s expensive so need to make the right decision). I have a few questions I’m hoping soneone could help with?

Has anyone use it for just a few months to kick start weight loss and better habits? Is that even a thing? I’m just over 15stone so would like to lose 4 and a half max.

When I over eat or eat too much choc/cake etc it’s never because I’m hungry it’s normally because I’m bored or fancy that type of food and the taste- would this still help for that kind of thing?

I exercise approx 2 hours a morning three days a week. 45/50mins cardio and an hour weights. To be fair I generally don’t have breakfast beforehand anyway but if I’m eating less I still want to be able to continue this level of activity. Does anyone do similar?

I’m quite worried about side effects. I know there is no way of knowing what people may experience as everyone is different. My biggest worry I guess is that I got really bad skin problems from the Covid jabs which still flare up occasionally now and I don’t want that again! I’m also concerned about sickness/diarrhoea. I can see some people have had bad side effects and others none. Luck of the draw I guess??

Wishthiswasntmypost · 11/07/2024 22:23

I have wondered whether it will help my emotional/bored eating. Sometimes I eat compulsively even when I'm feeling uncomfortably full.

This was the major thing for me and on my first week it's not been an issue at all. I don't exactly feel nauseated, but the idea of eating can be quite off putting and I couldn't physically eat a slice of cake or a large portion of anything. I felt the emotional urge to eat once but it was fleeting. I can’t quite stomach carbs most of the time, and that would be what I would eat mindlessly or binge on before. It's just not an option now!

TheSproutOfWrath · 12/07/2024 05:30

@CatTraveler Have you had yours yet? I'm still waiting for mine to arrive.

PlinkyPlonkyDonkey · 12/07/2024 07:38

I'll be taking my third dose today - 5 pounds off in the first two weeks, not exactly 'wow' progress, but - I've just tipped into the 13 stone bracket, so that feels good!

CatTraveler · 12/07/2024 07:43

Mine arrived yesterday with my post - I got an email on Wednesday night saying it was going to be delivered.

Did you use Zava? If so you can track it through your orders page.

I am currently trying to find the courage to do my first injection!!!

TheRoseShaker · 12/07/2024 07:48

Ugh, lost less than a kilo in a week, I've been sticking to 1200 calories a day religiously too. Took my 3rd 2.5 dose early on Monday night, and I was starving again by yesterday afternoon. Feeling a bit disheartened as it's a lot of money, but I probably would have fallen off the wagon by now if I wasn't on MJ Confused

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 12/07/2024 07:52

I injected on Sunday. Have had major appetite suppression, total exhaustion and constant low-level not quite nausea but almost - basically, I have felt under the weather all week and eaten very little. I haven't lost any weight at all according to the scales which is disheartening, but one skirt feels a bit looser.

I do have my period so have also had cramps and misery, which no doubt contributed to how rubbish I've felt and maybe is why the scales aren't shifting at all.

I have a lot to lose from a starting BMI of 40.

CatTraveler · 12/07/2024 08:17

Injection no 1 done - it wasnt sore at all but I was very nervious about doing it right...

Emeraldpies · 12/07/2024 08:19

First weigh in this morning before taking my second 2.5mg jab tonight. I haven't had any effects from my jab. No appetite suppression, no reduction of food noise and also no negative side effects. I've been wondering if I actually injected properly. However I have been eating very healthily as I've been very scared of side effects whilst at work. I have lost 7.8lbs!! 😀
