Mounjaro July 2024

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

I've just completed my first full week on Mounjaro and still not feeling any suppression, had a little nausea after the first jab and one night of not sleeping but none of the positive effects. Had my second jab (2.5mg) yesterday so hoping something kicks in soon.

I have been following WW though for the last week and a bit and am pleased to say I've lost 8lbs, mostly water weight obviously, but still a good start. I've always had big losses the first time I've started WW so this was nothing unusual, but I'm hoping the MJ kicks in soon as I'm still reaching for food regularly, albeit healthy food but the urges/cravings are still there.

SW - 14 stone 12 pounds
CW - 14 stone 4 pounds
GW - not sure yet - around 9.5 stone...ish

Lumirubin · 08/07/2024 08:08

@MounjaroMunchie yeah I've found the same. I usually have my dilute juice really strong, but I've had to half the strength I normally have or just have water because it's too much!

I'm officially 2 weeks today. 5lbs down in week 2 (was 6lbs at the start of the week but some of that was probably dehydration from my side effects!)

Week 2
SW 18st 1lb
CW 17 st 3lb
Total loss 12lb

I'm happy with that for 2 weeks progress! Hopefully I'll smash through the stone loss this week. Just got everything crossed I don't end up with a dodgey tummy from the 3rd jab

So I'm about halfway through week 2 and apart from aches after the first jab and a crappy hangover yesterday, I've escaped side effects. I have some appetite suppression and have found it easier to make better food choices, although that may also be due to motivation and willpower, which are both strong at the moment. I've no desire to snack between meals, which is just amazing - I've never felt this way in my entire life, and I'm 42 (yes, it's weird that so many of us are the same age!)

Has anyone else noticed that the sweetness of food and drink has really intensified since being on Mounjaro? I've had to drop from two sweeteners to one in tea and coffee, fruit is really intensely sweet, and a protein Muller rice last night was completely inedible due to how sweet it was - sweet to the point of making me gip a little bit!

Yess to the sweetness, coffee also just tastes different to me. Thought it was the milk but have since bought new and it’s deffo the coffee. I’m also not craving coffee at all, but made myself one out of habit to perk up.

I don’t have sugar in my tea, just a splash of skimmed milk, and I’ve noticed it tasting different - almost sweet. Very odd.

I’m also 42!

girljulian · 08/07/2024 11:23

I weighed again this morning, down another 1.1lbs. I've decided I'm going to weigh every day from now on because I prefer being able to stick the weights into my HappyScale app which smooths out the fluctuations into a nice curve!

Also switching to lbs, I only weighed in kg out of terror that I would be much heavier than the last time I weighed but I wasn't, so I may as well go back to a unit that means something to me...

CatOfTheLand · 08/07/2024 11:33

I'm also 42, weirdly!

Have just ordered today and it's pending 🤞

Really stressful life situation saw me put on 28lbs+ in a year. I've gone up two dress sizes and nothing fits. Dieting doesn't work and even without a diet I'm ALWAYS hungry.

I'm desperate to lost 14lbs to even feel human again.

Here's my code if anyone else is thinking of joining: joinvoy.com/r/U-s1RB5LX7X1

I’m 43 😆
I’ve gone off coffee totally and am having tea instead which I never used to!

TheRoseShaker · 08/07/2024 11:54

44 here, just had a swig of lactulose and it was disgustingly sweet, don't fancy squash anymore either so just on plain water.

Lost another 1kg since Friday, very happy since last week I was at the pub, Chinese all you can eat and KFC with work. Even had a cheeky McDonald's last night, but was much more restrained than normal and within calories for the day

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 08/07/2024 12:41

My first dose was yesterday afternoon. I ate dinner, didn't snack at all in the evening and didn't think about breakfast until after the school run this morning. The idea of my usual buttered Marmite toast was totally unappealing. I had black coffee, an electrolyte drink, a little bit of kefir, some 0% fage yoghurt and a peach.

Worked all morning without thinking about snacks or even a coffee break, but realised at noon I felt lightheaded - hungry, but not in my stomach if that makes sense? I made a tomato and mozzarella salad with lemon and oil dressing and fresh herbs. I can't face the idea of carbs. That is the absolute opposite of how I normally feel! It's really odd.

No bad side effects yet except a metallic taste in my mouth.

Aitchtee · 08/07/2024 13:59

I am SO excited to get going! Away overnight on Thursday so don’t want it to arrive when I can’t sign for it. Going to order on Thursday, have my photos ready. Would that work? Do you hold the date in the photos?

SilenceInside · 08/07/2024 14:07

I had to show the date in the pictures, I honestly don't know if they would notice if you had taken the photo a couple of days before but with a future date shown. They're obviously trying to stop people using old photos, or photos of other people, so I think you'd be ok.

WeAllHaveWings · 08/07/2024 14:20

Is it ASDA that is asking for date to be shown in photos? ZAVA never asked for dates in mine. Just asked for feet on scales and a photo "clearly showing your physic" so I took a side on one in jeans and tight t-shirt which was awful looking but felt less intrusive than looking into the camera (do you smile?!?)

Sharing my ZAVA code for 15% off again, hoping someone can use so I can get 15% off my next pen too.

It’s zava that I planned to order from as there are discounts. I’ll get the photos taken today so I’m ready to order!

Time4changeagain · 08/07/2024 14:52

Zava asked DD for date on a piece of paper clearly showing date on all photos and asked for ID, I was surprised as I never got asked for date showing or ID. Wondering if it depends on who processes your order 🤷‍♀️

Lumirubin · 08/07/2024 15:05

I never had to show a date with Voy, or a scales pic. Just my ID and then a full length photo not in baggy clothes. Thought id never see the photo ever again, but it's on my account if I message customer service. Vom!

3rd injection done today. Wish the effects where instant because I've just had a big sandwich for lunch that I could have done without fancying haha

Strange others have been asked for dated photos from ZAVA, this is all I was sent. I never put a date on the photos and the order was processed.

Perhaps it depends on your BMI (mines is very high), can't think of any other reason.

I ordered from esurgery, no photos needed. It’s been dispatched today! I’m excited to get started but have a rare evening out for Mexican and margaritas on Friday night. Wondering if I’d better wait til Saturday or Sunday to do my first jab?

User364837 · 08/07/2024 15:11

How strange, I got a different message from Zava

I had to put the date by my feet too for Zava. Strange that there's differing procedures!

NewLifter · 08/07/2024 15:53

Just noticed on a Facebook group that there's apparently huge stock issues with the 2.5mg pens - so anyone close to ordering might want to move fast!

AH37 · 08/07/2024 16:12

I started with first injection last night. Been feeling really lethargic with slightly odd feeling all day - slightly nauseous. Anyone else had this? Are side effects temporary, are they likely to lessen once my body gets used to it??

Messagemeback · 08/07/2024 16:17

I have done 2 weeks so far in 2.5. I messed up my second dose though so only got about half so is def not as effective. I think I was a bit ill when I first started taking it anyway as I felt pretty rough but I’ve come out of that now so hopefully unrelated!!

one thing I’ve noticed is it REALLY curbs my alcohol cravings - which is obvs great. But…I had a big party on Saturday night and I just couldn’t drink, and I really annoyed myself as rather than just owning it and proudly not drinking, I kept trying to force it as it was just routine for parties to go hand in hand with booze! So I think I need tk just own the soberness and change my attitude to parties but it caught me off guard! Like how to dance sober etc!!

Lumirubin · 08/07/2024 16:35

@AH37 that feeling has been pretty normal for me in the first 48 or so hours post jab. Taken my 3rd dose today and that feeling is back. It reminds me of morning sickness, like a background gurgly stomach/nausea, but I don't feel like I'm going to be sick. Mine the last 2 weeks has settled in a day or two. Tbh it's one of the things that helps keep my appetite under control so I dont mind it

@Lumirubin thanks- hopefully mine will subside a bit too! I'm finding it quite energy draining!

@Lumirubin thanks- hopefully mine will subside a bit too! I'm finding it quite energy draining!

From reading posts, it can be quite normal but also quite unpredictable so it's impossible to know how it will progress. I had no side effects with the first injection but quite severe nausea for a few hours after the 2nd - if I got that regularly I would stop MJ tbh as I couldn't work through that level of nausea. I'm hoping I don't get it after the third to be honest!

Fingers crossed it eases quickly for you.
