Mounjaro July 2024

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

@Lumirubin oops they say to avoid vains don’t they, didn’t even think of that! I might give the thigh a go next time. hope your feeling better continues, it’s a rollercoaster from what I’ve gathered from these threads!

I’ve had my first big symptom today which was a period of palpitations whilst laying down. Resting heart rate went up from 72 to 90 👀 but was only for an hour or so. I do feel more switched on and I’m not craving snacks so the food noise reductions has kicked in! Haven’t lost appetite yet but so feel more inclined to eat healthy.

Lumirubin · 06/07/2024 22:15

@thisbetheverse the likelihood of you hitting a vein is very slim! More likely knicked a capillary so I wouldn't worry!

I’m going to join too if that’s ok! Plan to order- though not sure as I am away Thursday all day and over night and wont be at home to get it. Wonder if it would arrive before then if I ordered tomorrow? Or leave ordering until I am back home on Friday?

Zava have been pretty good, I'd say if you ordered today and were able to submit your photos (they ask for one on scale and one full body shot, to confirm body shape/weight) then it would most likely be dispatched Monday, or Tuesday - always sent tracked24 with Royal Mail so would get it Tuesday or Wednesday.

If you want a code for ZAVA for 15% off, mine is REFSWEMU

Good luck!!

Just checking in. Taken my second Mounjaro injection today. Lost 7.3lb in my first week (well aware this is probably mostly water plus also when I started I’d just come back from an all inclusive holiday so it was a big shift in my eating!).

I can’t say I’ve felt much of an effect from the injection though (which I appreciate is normal for the 2.5 dose). I’m still hungry and thinking about food. But I’ve been strict on the diet regardless hence the loss.

SW - 14.0.2
CW - 13.6.9
TW - 11 stone (initially)

PS. I have this code if anyone wants to order from Asda and we both get 10% off: REF8CCR9

First weigh-in and I am 1.5kg down (about 3lbs). Happy enough with that although I’d hoped for a “whoosh” of water weight!

I’m really enjoying not having any food noise, looking forward to it ramping up!

I’m using Voy, who are brilliant and really supportive. I’d be grateful if anyone thinking of starting wanted to use my code:

So I started calorie counting on the 23rd May and lost about 7lbs in a month. Then started MJ last week and have lost 7lbs in a week ❤️

Absolutely over the moon.

Had one evening if nausea just but not even sure if that was the MJ as I'm not well at the minute anyway, have COVID.

snickleback · 07/07/2024 11:46

Congrats @girljulian and @NewLifter, great starts!!

End of week 1 weigh in done and 8.4lbs down!! I am so surprised and pleased with that loss - I know it's all water weight and it'll slow down from here on, but thrilled with the start.

Was originally going to be delaying my next dose until Wednesday as had plans for Tuesday that I didn't want to ruin with any side effects. We were supposed to be going to see Stevie Nicks but she's postponed 😢 so gutted! Haven't told my friend yet as she's on a romantic weekend away atm and don't want to ruin her mood, but I expect we'll postpone our whole day/night that we had planned in Manchester until we get a rescheduled date, save the money and travel etc.

So on the plus side it means I can now stick to the weekly schedule and carry on with my second dose tonight. I also probably won't cancel my annual leave so I'll still have Tuesday and Wednesday off in case I do feel rough. Working from home tomorrow so not a big deal if it's a laptop in bed jobby!

EricCatman · 07/07/2024 12:09

I was another pound down this morning. So I have lost 13lbs in 11 days.

what are you eating, out of interest?

yajustneverknow · 07/07/2024 15:35

I had my first injection Friday, felt a little achy but felt a little under the weather before anyway so not sure it's definitely linked to the jab.
Don't feel hungry at all and eating only because I know I need to.
Had a few drinks yesterday and was awake early hours with a banging headache which is probably linked to jab.
Otherwise no side effects at all. I don't seem to be peeing that much more than usual. Is everyone making an effort to drink more water? I'm worried I'm not drinking enough and it'll lead to disappointment come weigh day on Friday.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 07/07/2024 15:42

I just did my first injection and had a proper wtf moment. I'm terrified of nausea and vomiting so felt very anxious but there is no going back now!

EricCatman · 07/07/2024 15:46

girljulian · 07/07/2024 15:20

Yesterday I ate nothing until about 9pm and then I had a small slice of veg pizza and 2 chicken wings. I really struggled to eat that.

Itsmeamandaberry · 07/07/2024 16:39

I did my first injection on Tuesday and my appetite has got worse each day. I have this "fake" hunger where I will think I want dinner and once it's made I either have 2 bites or I just can't face it. The thought of food is repulsive to me.

Yesterday I managed to have dinner and a snack. Today I have had two bites of toast and a homemade iced coffee.

So far I have lost 3lbs so a long way to go.

User364837 · 07/07/2024 20:24

Just to show it affects everyone differently I am on day 5 of week 1 and have noticed some slight loss of appetite but am still managing to eat a normal amount since I am extremely adept at eating when I’m not hungry (how I ended up here 😆)
i think I have lost a lb or 2 so far but I was in the grip of quite a bingey episode before starting (always seems to happen when I know I’m about to start a diet or new way of eating).
with some of the weight losses and side effects people are having I am nervous about the next few weeks.

i don’t want a radically fast rapid weight loss or to feel like I can’t eat at all, I want Mounjaro to make me feel “normal” around food and give me brain time and space to make good choices and only eat when I need to and not over eat. So that then the weight comes off relatively slowly.

hopefully I can find a dose that does that 🤞

MounjaroMunchie · 07/07/2024 21:23

Well, I've had a shocker of a hangover today from 3 x half pints of beer and 1 x vodka and diet coke whilst watching the football. I was even super good and took an electrolyte sachet out with me, which I had in a pint of water at half time, and had another before going to bed (at 9.45pm!) but it didn't help. I'm only just start feel human again now.

KeepinOn · 07/07/2024 21:39

Oh yikes, sounds like a rough day, @MounjaroMunchie ! I didn't have a hangover yesterday but I definitely felt rougher than normal after normal Friday night drinks. A cautionary tale indeed.

I've eaten with the family today, had lunch with friends who came round and dinner, but I wasn't particularly hungry for anything. If left to my own devices I wouldn't have had dinner at all I think. How do you manage a lack of appetite with family meals or get togethers?

Lumirubin · 07/07/2024 21:45

@User364837 that sounds a really sensible way to look at it. Fingers crossed you find the right dose for that.

@MounjaroMunchie I've had a glass and a half of fizz tonight so dreading this happening tomorrow! Hope you are feeling better

This week has been so different to last week. Week one I had great suppression with no symptoms and felt it starting to fade on the Sunday Monday (injection day is Monday). This week I had diarrhoea Tuesday to Friday and then Friday evening the suppression started to fade quicker than last week. I've found myself having an inbetween meal snack or pinching some of my toddlers left over fish fingers which I hadn't been bothered about at all last week. It's almost like my body overshot in the first few days and there wasn't enough drug left later in the week. Interested to see what tomorrow's jab brings!

This is me! I'm on day 4 and I've realised exactly how much I eat out of habit or boredom - I'm definitely not hungry but find myself thinking about whether to eat alot!!!

MounjaroMunchie · 08/07/2024 07:49

So I'm about halfway through week 2 and apart from aches after the first jab and a crappy hangover yesterday, I've escaped side effects. I have some appetite suppression and have found it easier to make better food choices, although that may also be due to motivation and willpower, which are both strong at the moment. I've no desire to snack between meals, which is just amazing - I've never felt this way in my entire life, and I'm 42 (yes, it's weird that so many of us are the same age!)

Has anyone else noticed that the sweetness of food and drink has really intensified since being on Mounjaro? I've had to drop from two sweeteners to one in tea and coffee, fruit is really intensely sweet, and a protein Muller rice last night was completely inedible due to how sweet it was - sweet to the point of making me gip a little bit!
