Mounjaro July 2024

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

@cappycap it sounds like our response in terms of symptoms is similar. Hope it settles for you! I'm feeling very lucky that I'm WFH today or it would be disastrous at this point.

@snickleback I've messaged my Voy coach asking a similar question about delaying a dose because I'm still very symptomatic from my second dose and I'm working next week so don't want to be at work with the excessively frequent bowel movement I've currently got! It would be impossible to manage in my job. So I'll let you know what she says about my suggestion to her to delay a dose.

I've ordered some huel stuff that's come this morning. DH was wanting to try it anyway and it felt like a good time. We did a starter box so it's got lots of bits and bobs in that I'm hoping will help keep me a bit more balanced. Currently drinking one of the daily vitamin and mineral cans because god I'm sure I need it right now! Got some of the ready meals type pasta's to try because they are high in protein, so I'll report back once I've tried them :)

Reading this while drinking (for the first time) a Huel vitamin and mineral can!

snickleback · 05/07/2024 13:34

@cappycap no not had a drink yet - nearly did the other night as it was my dad's birthday but changed my mind at the last minute! So Tuesday will be my first time drinking on it, however looking at my chart I won't have much of the original dose left so guessing I'll be able to drink mostly as normal (can't decide if that's good or bad!)

If I did my second injection on Sunday then it'd be pretty high still looking at this.

Appreciate this could derail/delay the weight loss marginally, but I don't think I can risk letting my friend down by being too poorly with the side effects, so will treat it as a one-off.

Here's the link that I got from the main Mounjaro thread for the plotter - glp1plotter.com

Really interesting to play around with and see how it's building up in our systems!

Thanks @Lumirubin! Definitely interested to hear what they say. Sorry to hear about the dodgy symptoms - hope it clears up soon! Do you plan on moving up to the 5mg after the 4 weeks is up or will you stick for a bit longer?

I tried Huel some years back, either just before they started doing the pre-made shakes or when they were still quite new - so maybe i'll give them a try!

I haven't done any protein shakes yet, was a bit intimidated by all the different options, but will give it a go next week. I have been drinking electrolytes and that's been good. Also really liking the Lindahl's Kvarg protein yoghurts, really tasty and filling.

Whoops, just posted this on the June thread, not realising there was one for people starting in July!
Since November, I have lost over 2.5 stone on Wegovy but for the last 6 weeks, it has had little effect. So I have bitten the bullet and have just ordered Mounjaro, so will be starting again at the lowest dose. Hopefully this will put my brain back in gear and quieten the food noises again! On the brighter side, the weight loss I have achieved has made me feel much better and given me more confidence. I have also started exercising again.
i have ordered today from Zava and just had to email 2 photos so hopefully it will get despatched soon. I still have a long way to go.

Lumirubin · 05/07/2024 15:29

@hellsbells99 your welcome here regardless of when you started. Well done on that amazing loss! I hope I can be here in a few months time with that much weight off feeling better too!

@girljulian I'm feeling much brighter this afternoon that I have all week despite not eating anything yet and I think it might be from the drink. Shame it's fizzy as I think the bubbles have filed me up too much for lunch, but I did enjoy it as it felt like a treat.

@snickleback my coach said I can delay or skip and that's absolutely fine. Go with how I'm feeling basically.

@cappycap this is what my voy coach recommended for managing the dodgey tummy we've got. Hope it helps

"I am so sorry to hear about the side effects. If you feel like skipping 1 week is absolutely fine. You can also inject later but then you would have to continue taking it on a 7 days basis if that works.

You may wish to consider the below tips to manage and resolve your symptoms:

Consume semisolid/low-fibre foods/bland foods i.e., crackers, rice, pasta, dry/lightly buttered toast and jacket potato.
Keep well hydrated by drinking clear fluids such as water. You may also wish to consider using oral rehydration sachets such as dioralyte.
Avoid dairy products, fatty foods, high-fibre foods or highly seasoned foods for a few days.
Avoid/minimise caffeine, fruit juices, fizzy drinks and alcohol.
Locate the trigger food(s)/meal(s) - We suggest keeping a food diary to trace episode(s) to something you’ve consumed.

You may also wish to take the following over-the-counter (OTC) medications, which can be obtained from your local pharmacy:
Oral rehydration sachets (Dioralyte)
Loperamide (Imodium)"

I thought it was disgusting but I drank it because I knew it was good for me 😂

diian · 05/07/2024 15:47

After experiencing no side affects, last night I had d and v and have had to take today off. This is my first day off through illness in 5 years!

It seems to have been triggered by a fizzy drink.

In a week time I go on holiday, a group tour in SE Asia. No way do I want to be in a mini bus with d and v. I think I will take my last injection on Sunday then avoid fizzy drinks at all costs.

MounjaroMunchie · 05/07/2024 16:42

Oh no @diian ... Just reading your post as I'm halfway through a can of Pepsi Max! How are you feeling now?

hellsbells99 · 05/07/2024 17:11

@Lumirubin thanks for the welcome! I had the opposite problem when taking Wegovy and was constipated a lot so we will see what happens when I start taking the Mounjaro. Well done on your loss for the first 2 weeks. Don’t be in a hurry to lose too much too quickly from now onwards though as I have got some saggy skin even though I lost my initial weight gradually. I do need to lose quite a bit more though. Started at 17stone4 and am now around 14stone8.

Hi everyone, so I've gone for it and had my first injection last night. No side effects I've noticed yet, I've been really tired today but that's not unusual.

When can I expect to notice the appetite suppression.

How much did you lose in your forest week.

The first dose is a loading dose so you may not feel anything at all. A lot of people do, a lot don't. I felt it straight away and lost 2lb in week 1, but don't be discouraged if you don't lose or feel any different immediately!

EricCatman · 05/07/2024 18:25

Really encouraging posts on here. I’m lying in the bath right now with a Pepsi max - I haven’t had any ill effects from it.

It 6:20 and I have eaten nothing all day and I’m not even slightly hungry. My husband has bougt loads of Chinese foods from M&S but I feel nauseous at the thought. I will force myself to eat something. Going to stay with friends for the weekend next week and I’m slightly anxious about all the food as I don’t want to be rude. But my appetite has just disappeared, and then some. It’s really kicked in since the 2nd injection and by next weekend, I’ll have done my 3rd!

I ‘confessed’ to my husband and kids that I’m doing this. Not one of them said ‘but you don’t need to!’, which is what I was expecting. 😂 I’m clearly fatter than I realise, even though I had to fib somewhat (ingeniously) to be heavy enough to qualify.

Lumirubin · 05/07/2024 18:33

@hellsbells99 this is one of the reasons I'm considering delaying my next dose. 13 lbs in just shy of 2 weeks is too much and I want it to slow down. I don't want people at work etc to notice the speed and put two and two together as I've only told my DH and DM what I'm doing. I'm worried about loose skin too as my belly is already saggy due to loose skin from pregnancy so I know it's going to end up looking awful! But tbh, an awful saggy belly hidden under clothes is better than a a fat one I can't hide I think! Was planning on taking some collagen supplements as it's supposed to help

I lost 2 pounds in my first week - although nothing at all for the first 6 days and you can find my grumpy posts about that further down the thread 😜
I noticed appetite suppression straight away, and has been very easy to avoid snacking and sugar, which is great.
Have been hungry for the first time today since starting, and just did my second jab.

Everyone is different! I noticed the good effects within hours of starting and it's worked well for me so far. Had my 2nd injection today and all good so far but a bit anxious due to Lumis side effects in her 2nd week as I'm working all weekend, 13 hour shifts! There's nowhere to hide 😂

So hoping things continue on ok for me. Just about to go to a spin class - so clearly feeling good!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend 💞

Lumirubin · 05/07/2024 20:41

Fingers crossed I'm just getting a rough ride and you'll be fine @NewLifter

I've felt alot better and not had any symptoms this afternoon after having some electrolyte replacement and a vitamin drink. So could have just been an imbalance!

TheRoseShaker · 05/07/2024 23:31

Second jab yesterday tea time and I feel fantastic! I did feel a bit iffy day 4/5 after the first one, like early pregnancy when you get that funny taste in your mouth and feel nauseous, but it didn't last long. I don't feel hungry at all, I feel as though I should be hungry, it's hard to explain

I've been drinking gallons of water, hopefully lots of fluid helps

Thank you all for sharing, I’m just waiting for my delivery.
its been really helpful for me to read about the first few weeks experience.

it was so tough seeing the numbers on the scales and the photo! I had put on more than I realised, but as you say @Lumirubin its the last time I will see those numbers! It’s down hill from here 👍

SweetPeas13 · 06/07/2024 07:38

I've just done my second jab.. here's hoping for a good loss this next week with no or minimal side effects.

LittleLlama · 06/07/2024 08:07

I have also just injected my second jab. Lost 1.6kg last week, which I am pleased about. I have exercised six out of seven days. Mouth still feels very dry and I am drinking lots of water but otherwise no side effect. Hoping for a similar week.

Hope Everyone has a good week.

KeepinOn · 06/07/2024 08:32

Yesterday was interesting, I have been battling a bit of an obsessive feeling about eating lately, especially highly processed carbs. (Ah, bread, you delicious temptress.) But I wasn't too fussed at all yesterday. I ate the normal food we usually have at dinner, but wasn't interested in finishing my plate. I just... stopped. I also had wine, which I know I probably shouldn't have, but apart from a slight headache this morning I feel ok. I won't over-indulge on that.

I've been exercising more recently anyway, and am back to using my standing desk after a recent house move, so I feel confident I'm on the right path with getting my health on track.

I think I've read Voy give you the option to share with a GP or not.

I've not used voy so can't say 100% but i did fill in the form just to have a look and I'm sure it was an option to choose.
