Mounjaro July 2024

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

My first week, not really feeling any effects yet but I didn't expect to on 2.5mg but last night I was awake ALL NIGHT. I never have trouble sleeping so I'm hoping this is a one-off, or at least settles very soon if not. I need my sleep.

On the upside though, the scales are showing a 5lb loss since Sunday, I'm doing this in conjunction with WW which I did before but just kept losing and gaining the same stone. Hoping the suppression kicks in soon

I've not been able to sleep either, so tired! Taken an Amitriptyline for tonight, hopefully this isn't a lasting side effect

It's only been 1 night for me but I seriously hope it buggers off. Fingers crossed 🤞

My package was delivered this morning and left in the shed, I'm not home for another half an hour 😬 will it be ok

Yes it will be fine, they are well packaged with ice

Aworldofmyown · 04/07/2024 19:23

I received mine this afternoon! I've just done my first dose, slightly terrified!!

NewLifter · 04/07/2024 20:37

I definitely was hungry tonight for the first time since the MJ kicked in on Saturday evening - happy with that 😍 have eaten on average 1100 calories but today hit 1500! Got my period today too which won't have helped.

So far am delighted with how my first week is going! Hoping my 2nd dose doesn't bring drama as I'm working over the weekend.

NewoIkkin · 05/07/2024 07:52

Week one done and 4lbs lost. Would have loved it to be a bit more dramatic, but I lost 5lbs the previous week (doing low cal/carb) so I’ll take it.

Only 96lbs to go.

SweetPeas13 · 05/07/2024 08:18

I've had a weigh in today which is 1 day early and finally lost 3lb. Which is good I guess but did hope for more in the first week. Second injection will be in the morning. Hopefully will see a loss next week.

BemusedBrenda · 05/07/2024 08:28

Weigh day and second jab for me today. I've lost 7lbs. I felt more hunger the last couple of days so I was ready for the jab, but interestingly last night we had a treat meal and I felt I overindulged (was over full and uncomfortable) but my DH pointed out I'd actually eaten much less than I usually would.

EricCatman · 05/07/2024 08:59

Another 2lbs down for me - from yesterday! I know it’s probably water weight - I peed about 10 times yesterday.

I started last weds (26th) and I’ve lost an amazing 10lbs since then.

TheRoseShaker · 05/07/2024 09:29

Congratulations on all the losses! @EricCatman that's an amazing loss!

I've lost 1.4kg in my first week, but it's not been a good week, had wine last night and some bad choices as been out with work, but don't think I'm eating as much. Second injection last night, I do feel hungry this morning. However, I am back in the 12st bracket (just!) for the first time in years, so really pleased.

SW 83.6kg
CW 82.2kg
GW 65kg

KeepinOn · 05/07/2024 09:35

Good morning, I hope it's ok to jump into this thread!

I received my first pen last night, and started my first dose straight away. I've been using intermittent fasting for years to keep my weight steady, but I've allowed carbs to take over my diet during the past 18 months or so, and my weight has crept up and up anyway. I'm noticing my blood sugars are getting more erratic, with extreme hunger hitting before noon each day and strong carb cravings to boot. I'm hoping this medicine will help get that under control.

I read that the 2.5ml doses have no impact, it's just to get your body used to the meds before upping it to 5ml, is that other people's experience? I'm assuming my lack of hunger so far this morning is just a placebo effect!

I'm 5'8 and in the obese category, gah.

SW: 106kg
GW: 74kg

32kg is a big mountain to climb, but at age 43, I need to get on it and sort myself out. I'm hoping this will help!!

(edited to change GW to actually get me into the normal BMI category for once..)

Snozzlemaid · 05/07/2024 10:02

Good luck and welcome to joining us all.
Some do respond to the 2.5 mg dose. I certainly did and had appetite suppression from the first week.
I lost a stone in the first 4 weeks on 2.5.
My appetite does seem to fluctuate during the week but even if I do feel a bit more hungry I still usually get full up on not too much food. So I've learnt not to worry if I do get hungry, just eat some fruit or protein and I'll soon feel full up again without taking in too many calories.

Lumirubin · 05/07/2024 10:14

Well done on all the losses guys. @EricCatman that's an amazing loss well done!

@KeepinOn 2.5 is definitely not just placebo for me. I've lost 13 lbs in 11 days. My appetite is all but gone completely

MounjaroMunchie · 05/07/2024 11:06

Brilliant losses, everyone! I had a sneaky weigh this morning and am 3lb down. I'd secretly hoped for more but will take anything at this stage!

cappycap · 05/07/2024 11:55

The weight losses are really coming in now, well done everyone.

So I had my official weigh in today, I did weigh in Weds but wanted to see a full week so weighed again today.

I've lost 6lbs.
SW 13 6.8lb
CW 13 0.2lb

My appetite has been non existent though and I only averaged around 1500 cals a day, feeling pretty worn out so need to look at using my calories on more carbs I think to keep my energy levels up.

Took my second injection last night, and don't feel great this morning. Tired, nauseas and been to the toilet a few times. Hope it settles. I've been really responsive to the 2.5mg dose, so if it's the same next week, I may order another 2.5mg and wait another 4 weeks before starting the 5mg I have on the fridge.

snickleback · 05/07/2024 12:14

@cappycap amazing loss, well done! I'm also tempted to stick to the 2.5mg for another month after this one but also know it's quite early days yet - will wait until at least week 3 I think and decide then.

I had a sneaky weigh-in this morning as wanted to see how it was going, and I'm down 7lbs! I know it's going to be basically all water weight and losses aren't going to continue on this scale but it's a great boost either way.

I did my first injection Sunday night, but I'm going to delay my second for a couple of days - have plans with my best friend for Tuesday that will involve eating and drinking that have been long booked in and looked forward to, I don't want to ruin a good time with side effects. I felt really sick the first couple of days after my first injection, and could barely eat a thing. Checking the dose plotter (thanks @Lumirubin and @MounjaroMunchie ) it looks like it would be quite high on Tuesday if I stuck to 7 day schedule. So I think I will defer to Wednesday and avoid the risk of being too ill and letting my friend down.

My appetite suppression has been insane so hopefully will still keep me in line!

Lumirubin · 05/07/2024 12:37

@cappycap it sounds like our response in terms of symptoms is similar. Hope it settles for you! I'm feeling very lucky that I'm WFH today or it would be disastrous at this point.

@snickleback I've messaged my Voy coach asking a similar question about delaying a dose because I'm still very symptomatic from my second dose and I'm working next week so don't want to be at work with the excessively frequent bowel movement I've currently got! It would be impossible to manage in my job. So I'll let you know what she says about my suggestion to her to delay a dose.

I've ordered some huel stuff that's come this morning. DH was wanting to try it anyway and it felt like a good time. We did a starter box so it's got lots of bits and bobs in that I'm hoping will help keep me a bit more balanced. Currently drinking one of the daily vitamin and mineral cans because god I'm sure I need it right now! Got some of the ready meals type pasta's to try because they are high in protein, so I'll report back once I've tried them :)

Hi, I hope it's ok to join in on this thread. After much reading around and contemplating what the right decision is, I've decided to start Mounjaro and have done my first injection this morning. I have a lot of weight to lose, really an intimidating amount. The weight has been increasing gradually since my second child was born, and I just can't expend enough mental energy to consistently diet.

I weighed myself for the first time in ages so I could order the injection, and although I knew it would be bad, it's just quite shocking to see it written down. When I worked out my BMI, it was a big upset 😢

SW: 139kg, and I'm 5ft 5in and in my late 40s
GW: 125kg (this is 10% of my SW as an initial goal)

Lumirubin · 05/07/2024 12:45

Welcome @SilenceInside absolutely ok to join in :)
I had the same feeling when I weighed myself for starting. I hadn't weighed myself for about a year because I knew it was bad and I was burying my head in the sand! So to see the numbers looking back at me was painful. But I'm telling myself it doesn't matter because I'll never see that number on the scales ever again! I started in the 18st category and 2 weeks in I'm only 3lb off falling into the 16st category. (18st 1 starting, 17st 2 currently) I've lost 5% in 2 weeks, so I think you'll smash your minigoal really quickly!

cappycap · 05/07/2024 12:47

@snickleback
I will have a look at the chart, thank you, I wonder if it is because with my second injection I've added the medication into my system that already had the first dose still in it so I'm now getting the side effects and feeling a bit rough.

Have you had alcohol on mounjaro? I've read mixed responses so I'm unsure what I will feel like if I had a drink.

cappycap · 05/07/2024 12:49

@Lumirubin

Seems we are experiencing the same, luckily I don't work on Friday so it's just getting the kids to school and picked up, I can stay at home for the rest of time so i can be near a toilet/feel nauseas/feel tired from the comfort of my own home.

Luckily I do Thursday evening jabs so hopefully any side effects show friday/sat/sun.

redmimi · 05/07/2024 12:58

Just checking in as I am finding this thread really useful. I ordered from ZAVA last Thursday and it arrived on Friday morning so I used it straight away.

I haven't had any side affects but my appetite has noticeably reduced and the best thing is that the 'food noise' has decreased. It's refreshing not to be thinking about food all the time. I've weighed myself this morning and am chuffed to have lost 7lbs, so I'm feeling motivated to continue.

Referral code if anyone needs one REFM27FP.

Good luck all.

KeepinOn · 05/07/2024 13:00

Ah, good to hear the initial amount has an effect, fingers crossed!

It's nearly 1pm and I have only had tea/coffee/water so far today, no low blood sugar shakes or extreme hunger at all. I will eat lunch soon but I'm not about to chew my arm off or anything. A good start indeed.

If I could lose at the rate some of you on the thread are losing I'd be so happy! 🤞
