just stepped on the scales and I’ve lost 6lb since Monday. I’ve gone from diarrhoea to constipated but I am starting to feel hungry again and weekends are a danger point for me.

Just done second jab. 4lbs down which I’m pleased with as I struggled with eating noise towards the end of the week and my appetite came back. I had a packet of wotsits last night.

I’m going out to lunch today which is annoying - I’d rather avoid the temptation of food

FlamingoFloss · 18/05/2024 11:33

Ok, mine arrived yesterday so going to do today! Any tips???

Christine0708 · 18/05/2024 11:36

@Greentrilby did you explain to your friends that these aren’t drugs of the internet but prescribed drug from a online pharmacy after having a consultation. It is licensed for weight loss so nothing dodgy about it if this is what she thought. I would tell your DH x

ClonedSquare · 18/05/2024 12:37

@Greentrilby I haven't told anyone I'm taking mounjaro except my husband. I think Mumsnet has opened my eyes to how much vitriol there is around these drugs from ignorant people, so even if I don't think people would openly judge I don't want to open it up.

Goldffinch · 18/05/2024 13:42

@Greentrilby I'm so sorry the conversation went that way for you. You were brave to tell your friend - I've been too afraid to tell anyone, including my partner.

Ciderandskatesdontmix · 18/05/2024 16:31

First week of Mounjaro done...3.5lbs down which I'm very happy with! I haven't really noticed any negative side effects and I've definitely found it easier to make good food choices.
Discount code for anybody thinking of joining...50% off for both of us 😊

Hello all. I'm on day 3 of wegovy and not really had any side effects so far except not feeling hungry which is good.

I feel lighter already but waiting to do a weigh in closer to Thursday which is my first "week".

I'm aiming to lose about 2 stone.

I told my husband and he was fine as long as it's prescribed by the pharmacy and not bought off Amazon or anything dodgy. Not telling anyone else!

Jibberoo · 19/05/2024 09:01

I'm sorry your friend was so unsupportive @Greentrilby I've told younger people at work, my husband and friends. I'm embracing this and refuse to let anyone shame me. There are so many health conditions that obesity causes that I see any action someone takes to actively reduce their weight as positive (obvs healthy actions). Yes we don't know the long term impact of these drugs but we do know the long term impact of obesity. I'll take the unknown risk of wegovy over the known risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, mobility issues etc.
I am probably 40kg over healthy weight but I'm active so no one thinks I'm unhealthy- but my bloods and joints tell a different story. So basically what I'm trying to say is I think what we're all doing is taking control of our health.

Greentrilby · 19/05/2024 10:16

Thanks for all your supportive messages. My friend rang and apologised for ranting at me so much and we have agreed to differ on how we approach weight loss.

On a much more positive note I plucked up the courage to tell my husband and he was lovely. He said that he knew I was up to something as I wasn’t eating very much and had no alcohol. So I’m in a much better place now.

CoolRanch · 19/05/2024 12:37

@Greentrilby that’s good things are a bit more settled!

I wasn’t going to weigh myself until the 1 week mark but my clothes were all feeling a little loose and I was feeling a little lighter this morning, so I hopped on the scale to see if it’s in my head, it’s 4.5lbs down! (Probably too much info but haven’t even pooed!) I know things can fluctuate so I won’t take that as a real number until I officially weigh on Wed. I feel like it’s working though.

jamtastic · 19/05/2024 13:49

Started Fri pm. Felt nothing yesterday. Acid reflux and nausea last night. Feel rubbish today, feels like a hangover.

Pretty sure I still feel hungry. Years of not listening to hunger signals .... I'm not sure if I'm feeling hungry or sick or anxious or tired or who knows? 😖

Hopefully this will all settle?

I started 2.5mg Mounjaro 10 days ago (10th May). I lost 9lbs in my first week !!

9lbs of fat loss in 7 days?!?!. Nope... that'll mainly be the 9lbs of bloat and water that I've been unable to get a handle on for years !

Starting Weight = 240lbs
Current Weight = 229lbs (as of this morning)

I ordered through CheqUp and have been using their free health coach service. She talked me through what foods to avoid, what are good substitutes, when to and when not to eat, portion sizes, etc.

I laughed it off at first .. it's everything we've all heard before, right?!

But since day 1 I have stuck to everything she told me. And that is only because of Mounjaro.

The "makes me feel happy" eating .. gone.

The "needing something sweet" fixes .. gone.

The "snacking for the sake of snacking" .. gone.

The agonising need to eat, and over eat.. or order a McDonalds because
I'd tortured myself to the point of no longer being able to function
until I had one .. GONE !

I make myself eat a small breakfast before 8am.
I make myself eat a small lunch between 12pm and 2pm.
I make myself eat a small dinner no later than 7pm.
I make myself drink 2L water a day.

I no longer crave or want food. I'm eating because I know I need to, and not because I'm stuck in a hamster wheel of torture at the simple thought of food.

Mounjaro has done exactly what it says it does for weight loss. It has curbed the addiction, the 'need'.

My biggest concern, is life after Mounjaro...

Anonymous37 · 20/05/2024 17:55

@Stuckinarut79 just reading your post on how you'd still eat after feeling full. How have you been getting on?
I'm exactly the same with junk food, always have been. I'd eat a huge meal, but still polish it off with a share bag of crisps and a large chocolate bar. I'd feel uncomfortable, sick, but I'd still do it.
Immediately after starting Mounjaro, the need to do that went away. It's absolute madness!! It's clearly not hunger or enjoying the taste, it's all just been in my head .. an addiction.
It's been a real eye opener so far.

Stuckinarut79 · 20/05/2024 19:21

@Anonymous37 thanks for the posts, that’s exactly what I’m hoping for, I can’t get my head around what that would be like as that’s never been my experience of food.
I’m going for it and taking my first dose this evening, we’ll see what happens!

ClonedSquare · 21/05/2024 11:21

I find my daily weigh ins with Mounjaro are way more up and down than I find on other diets. Usually, I either lose or gain <0.5lbs or I stay the same. On Mounjaro, it fluctuates all over the place! Some days I get on the scale and I've gained 2lbs, others I get on and I've lost significantly. I can't even see a logic for when it happens!

Sunday my weight ended in 8, Monday it was up to 0.5 and today it was down to 7. Weird!

Hi! I'm new to this thread and started with my first injection last Weds, so day 7 and time for my next injection tomorrow.

But I had to jump on as what you're saying is exactly what I've been experiencing too! I honestly thought it was my scales ... my weight loss after this first week is anything from 2lbs to 7lbs and I just can't work it out! Is this a thing or have we both got rubbish scales!? Have to add, our scales are lovely new digital ones, about a month old!

ClonedSquare · 21/05/2024 12:51

@DuckyLuck It's weird, isn't it! My scales may well be dodgy, as they flit up to half a pound either way until I'm 100% still. But they're the same scales I've used on other diets, so it does also seem to be a Mounjaro thing for me too!

ClonedSquare · 21/05/2024 20:20

FYI- I ordered my second pen today and ASDA had a disclaimer saying stocks of 5mg might be running low toward the end of May.

(I only ordered mine now because I had a birthday discount code to use by Friday, I'd usually reorder nearer the time).

evolute · 21/05/2024 20:45

Just checking in. Had a strange week and a few mistakes food wise which have made me feel crappy - regardless of food noise it’s the voice inside your head at times judging yourself for this kind of thing that would usually make me spiral, anyone else?

Still very little side effects which I’m partly grateful for because it’s making it feel more of a conscious choice to eat well - and make sure I’m getting in my protein etc instead of starving myself (though occasionally wishing I felt too nauseous to eat!)

@ClonedSquare @Goldffinch also not told anyone for fear of judgment and what impact that have on how I feel about myself -
@Greentrilby glad your friend has come around a little, sounds like a tough chat I don’t think I’m ready for. I do come back to the ‘it’s already in use for diabetics’..but get the sense some people think we deserve to struggle or ‘try harder’.

@Anonymous37 youre absolutely right, bonkers. Hope the first day went well for you @Stuckinarut79.

Welcome the rest of the newbies this week, it’s nice to build our support x

InvisibleLlama79 · 21/05/2024 20:45

Hope everyone's getting on ok. Lost 3lbs in week 2 so 8lbs altogether in 2 weeks.

Injection 3 due tonight. I'm a little bit apprehensive as I've found the side effects tougher this week and am going away to fun events this weekend.

I'll be interested to see how other fare on moving on to the 5mg pen next and whether side effects are more severe. This is something I'm nervous about.

Also, i haven't been exercising really. How do you all eat enough to fuel exercising?

evolute · 21/05/2024 20:48

Well done @InvisibleLlama79 👏
Enjoy your weekend!
im using Huel drinks to keep my calories and protein up-they’re really filling. Also just a whole pack of chicken for lunch occasionally and lots of water!
