Mixed week. Mounjaro is amazing, 2.5mg week 2, no side effects, but no food noise at all, clothes are looser and I'm down a notch on my belt, which is great! Bad news, weighed at the surgery today and realised my scales at home were SO wrong, I'm 20kg heavier than I thought. Bought new scales on my way home and just had to send a sheepish message to MedExpress explaining that I'm an idiot, but haven't just gained 20kg in a week 🙄.

Greentrilby · 21/05/2024 21:08

@evolute ah don’t beat yourself up over a few poor choices, it’s easily done. Tomorrow is another day and you can re-set. I’m hungry tonight but I’ve eaten fish, new potatoes and peas for dinner so I shouldn’t be. Trying to find things to do so I don’t wander into the kitchen where the wine and crisps are.

MsClittirati · 21/05/2024 21:13

Can I join ?

1st 2.5mg dose this morning. I am getting married in a few months so really need to shift the last couple of stones.

Did anyone feel different on day 1 ? I did a food shop this evening and didn’t even think of getting myself a ‘treat’ like I usually do. Have felt sort of full up after much less food than normal today. Is it placebo on day 1 ?

can’t wait to throw out the fat clothes. I have a wardrobe full of things I need to lose a stone to start wearing.

These threads inspired me to take the leap and make a change.

Greentrilby · 21/05/2024 21:16

@goldfinch how annoying for you, but you’ve lost weight and you feel great so you’re not an idiot

ClonedSquare · 21/05/2024 21:34

@MsClittirati I did my first injection on a Wednesday night and felt the effects when I woke up the next morning. Possibly it is a placebo, but it's the same feeling I've had for the whole two weeks I've been on it so I don't think so!

Anonymous37 · 21/05/2024 21:36

@MsClittirati welcome!

I felt a difference from my very first injection. Only on week 2, but its going great so far, and I've had no side effects.

ClonedSquare · 21/05/2024 22:22

Just did my third injection, one day early because I have a job interview Thursday so don't want to risk symptoms.

Last week I found the injection really sharp and painful but this week no problem. This week I just jabbed it straight in like I did the first week. I think last week I must have slid it in slowly which made a difference. I have a massive bruise from last week (which I hadn't noticed until now as I don't look at myself!).

colleysmill · 21/05/2024 22:52

Hi I posted a couple of times on the bug main thread but only started last week.

Took my 2nd dose today and weighed in 7lbs lighter than last week. I know that it would be unrealistic to expect that every week but I was so pleased!

@MsClittirati I’d echo the same! It’s such a strange feeling of nothing that you wonder if it has to be placebo! Occasionally the feeling dims and ‘hunger’ comes back, but most often you do want something nutritious and very easily satiated. Welcome to the club!

@colleysmill thats a great first week well done!

Rulay · 22/05/2024 05:39

Hi everyone, mind if I join?

I am a horribly obese 19 stone ish. I am obsessed with junk food and particularly takeaways. I have seen days where I'll have KFC for lunch and pizza or Chinese for dinner...it's not even that rare tbh. I have no energy and I'm hauling myself around most days just hoping for bedtime to come.

Something desperately needs to change so I've just ordered my first mountjaro pen in the hope it will help me kick this addiction to food. It's so expensive but I figure if I can cut the takeaways it'll pay for itself!

LilyTheSavage · 22/05/2024 06:30

Hi Rulay and welcome.

I did my fourth injection on Monday and decided to use the last of my first pen and up my 2.5 dose, so I used an insulin needle to take the last out. The food noise has come back a bit yesterday but I've managed to resist which I was pleased about. I'm starting 5ml next week.

I didn't possess any scales so I don't know how much I've actually lost. I should have bitten the bullet earlier and bought some (wishing now that I'd been braver about weighing myself) but I've got some now. I know I've lost weight because my face is less bloated and a dress I wore on Friday was looser. Weighing day is going to be Monday the same as injection day. The time is right.
Have a good day all of you.

evolute · 21/05/2024 20:45

Just checking in. Had a strange week and a few mistakes food wise which have made me feel crappy - regardless of food noise it’s the voice inside your head at times judging yourself for this kind of thing that would usually make me spiral, anyone else?

Still very little side effects which I’m partly grateful for because it’s making it feel more of a conscious choice to eat well - and make sure I’m getting in my protein etc instead of starving myself (though occasionally wishing I felt too nauseous to eat!)

@ClonedSquare @Goldffinch also not told anyone for fear of judgment and what impact that have on how I feel about myself -
@Greentrilby glad your friend has come around a little, sounds like a tough chat I don’t think I’m ready for. I do come back to the ‘it’s already in use for diabetics’..but get the sense some people think we deserve to struggle or ‘try harder’.

@Anonymous37 youre absolutely right, bonkers. Hope the first day went well for you @Stuckinarut79.

Welcome the rest of the newbies this week, it’s nice to build our support x

@evolute I totally get the judgy voice in your head! The internal battle between me and myself about eating crap was one of the reasons I took this route.

I hope this week is a better one. Be kind to yourself - food mistakes will be a hurdle for all of us along the way.

I'm going to try the Huel as need to exercise too really 😊

Goldffinch · 22/05/2024 07:15

@MsClittirati yes, I felt effects quickly. I had my first jab at 8am and honestly couldn't eat all day, forced myself to have a small dinner at around 8pm. Now, I've stocked up on Huel to have on jab day, because I felt the same this week after my 2nd jab.

Might well be placebo, but it's still working for me!

Upinthenightagain · 22/05/2024 07:49

I started last Monday. 7.5 lb off since then which I’m very pleased with. I do feel like I need to concentrate with my food choices though as I tend to reach for sugary crap but the food noise has reduced so much. I do get hungry but find I feel full pretty quick. Last night I had two tablespoons of cottage cheese on two 50 cal low carb bread slices and felt like I’d had a three course meal. Weird

Stuckinarut79 · 22/05/2024 07:53

First day done, mostly I’m exhausted! Had a nap yesterday and an early night and I’ve woken up thinking of a nap not good! I feel a bit odd but nothing to complain about, I ate as normal yesterday and I was hungry but also didn’t fancy anything, it felt like food was for filling me up not for the experience which is normally there, so all good.

Goldffinch · 22/05/2024 11:45

@Rulay Welcome! I thought the same about the cost and I must have saved at least £50 on food in the first week, so hopefully you'll find the same. I'm heavier than you currently, so this is going to be a long journey for me too.

Rulay · 22/05/2024 12:45

Thank you for the welcomes Smile my order has been approved so now I just have to wait for it to be delivered! I'm so excited! I hope I'm not getting my hopes up too high but I've been desperate for something to stop me from myself and I hope this might be it.

Well I for one am glad I have someone else in the same boat... at least we are trying to do something about it. I'm scared for my health tbh, when I was younger looking slim was my motivation but now I just don't want to die young of a stroke!

I have a question of the last dose.

I've had 2 injections from my pen so far, and looking at the remaining dose, it seems they'll be a single dose left after I do my next two.

That can't be right, surely??

Anyone else seeing this?

I have followed the main thread and yes the pens allow extra for the priming before each dose. There are ways to get that extra dose out

LoveSandbanks · 22/05/2024 13:25

Oh I’m so glad to find this thread. I just started on Monday. Definitely eating less and the appetite suppression seems to increase a little bit each day. No significant side effects so far except slightly eggy burps today. Can only assume I ate too much last night 🙄

Great start! I'm only on injection no.2. No side effects yet, but now you mention it, I've found I'm burping a lot more, and they're strong burps (not smelling haha, just quite abrupt ones lol).

Get it out?? Will the pen not allow you to get it out.. and is it OK to take it?

I noticed it says to dispose of any excess.

I don't want to waste any! Lol

LilyTheSavage · 22/05/2024 14:31

Anonymous37 - I tried to click up the last dose but it wouldn't budge so I extracted the last (fifth) dose using an insulin syringe with a very fine needle. I found that info on one of the other MJ threads and obtained some needles. Just need to make sure to hold the syringe upside down and gentle squeeze to allow any air drops to come to the top and disperse. When a droplet of MJ appears then you can use it.
I wasn't going to dispose of any excess as it just seemed so wasteful. Marketing ploy?

It's the stroke fear for me too. I had my first ocular migraine a month ago and that's what got me in gear finally, as I truly thought it was the end 😅

We're going to do great, I'm sure.
