@dandeliondaisy It's £180 for a pen with four injections in it, and you take an injection once a week. So not quite monthly (ie you'll go through 13 pens in a year not 12).

dandeliondaisy · 27/05/2024 11:55

@ClonedSquare that's incredibly helpful thank you. That is what I could t understand. I thought one pen was one week and could t understand how anyone could afford it 🙈

ClonedSquare · 27/05/2024 12:02

@dandeliondaisy God, I definitely couldn't afford that! I just worked it out and it's £2350 a year which is a lot but I'd pay that in a heartbeat to lose 100lbs (2lbs a week for a year).

I think in the US it comes in disposable weekly pens, which might be why information online is confusing. Looks like they pay a lot more for it as well, I've seen people paying $4-500 a month!

Rulay · 27/05/2024 13:01

I injected first on Thursday morning and starting to struggle a bit today. My appetite has come back a bit but still much more manageable than before - the temptation to eat for the sake of it is returning hugely. I might inject on Wednesday of this week...but then that leaves me a bit more open to temptation over the weekend!

Tbh I am struggling psychologically with this all too. Just figuring out the logistics, wondering if I'll be able to afford to keep at it long term, realising that I still need to use some willpower, the dawning knowledge that I have the answer to my weight problem at my fingertips but might not be mentally ready for this change.

I wish MJ was available on the NHS with the option of a weekly peer support group, that would really help me a lot.

i also have this awful backache since yesterday and it is making me grumpy Blush

Hi everyone, do you accept one more?

I did my very first jab on Sat lunchtime so 48 hours ago, and must say the effect for me was instant. Tiny portions, no appetite, basically forcing myself to eat. Felt really nauseous today, and just now managed to get some food in me - a banana protein milkshake. Hopefully things settle down, as I’m not sure I can put up with nausea long-term.

I felt just like you, it miraculously lifted at 48 hours, fingers crossed it lifts for you soon too Flowers

Just did my weigh-in and I've lost 3.5lbs since Thursday (shorter time frame as I'm switching my jab and weigh in day). Very pleased with this, and means I've lost 12.5lbs in 2 and a half weeks!

Did injection 4 last night and going up to 5mg next week. I'm also very nervous about this, as I've had zero side effects on 2.5mg. If I find 5 unbearable I'll definitely drop back down at least temporarily.

This is so life changing for me. I don't think I've ever had a diet where three weeks in, I wasn't absolutely miserable and feeling like I was being tortured (often with very little to show for it as well). On Mounjaro, I actually feel positive and like I can keep going.

Well done, that’s a great result! You must be thrilled. I’m a week behind you and have decided to go up to 5mg as that’s what is recommended. I agree with the positive thoughts and find it all rather unbelievable but life changing to be honest

Sassenach85 · 27/05/2024 17:57

I enjoyed a full cup of coffee this afternoon and a whole Graze bar… then panicked that the suppression had gone. But right now I honestly cannot face food in any shape or form. 🤢

Tarsandcase · 27/05/2024 18:11

We went to the local garden centre today and usually I'd be wanting to look around the food section and would always come home with some biscuits. Today, I just breezed straight past without even considering it.

Rulay · 27/05/2024 19:28

Is anyone else weeing constantly? Great floods of it too, i am not drinking enough water to merit this volume of wee BlushGrin

Jibberoo · 27/05/2024 19:30

@Sassenach85 how I wish I was you right now! I'm holidaying after taking my 2nd dose 5 days ago (2.5 wegovy) and no longer feeling the full effect. Sadly I didn't bring my pen on holiday so I won't get another dose for another 6 days. I'm intermittent fasting so hopefully that will stop some of the mad holiday weight gain but even though the food here is shit I can still see a full plate being consumed. Looking forward to getting to the 5mg pen to see if that improves as it feels like the effects wear off quicker each week. Any tips from anyone on how to keep self control up?

You’re only human and you are on holiday, I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself.

I feel as if I want to eat something really nice, but can't think of anything that will hit the spot. First time feeling like this in 3 jabs + 4 days. Help.

ShiftySandDune · 27/05/2024 22:02

I had my first jab Thursday night and today is the first day I’ve felt I’ve eaten a meal. I’m still under 1000 calories for the day but it’s definitely picked up. I was barely eating days one and two. So it would seem tomorrow and Wednesday and Thursday I’m likely to be eating more normally before I jab again.

Sharpasknives · 28/05/2024 06:26

Hello, week 2 - lost 11lbs in total.Dose doesn’t feel as strong this week- but maybe long weekend and more time to think about food .
smaller portions, lots of fresh food , no chocolate or wine
keeping on keeping on!

colleysmill · 28/05/2024 06:55

Morning! My 3rd jab later today and 2nd weigh in since starting.

This week less impressive loss than last week but a still respectable 2lb loss so 9lb in total on 2 jabs.

I can tell a difference already but the biggest win is the not thinking about food constantly and being able to properly stop when I'm full.

Sharpasknives · 28/05/2024 07:38

I’ve totally gone off coffee fizzy drinks crisps….

Snipples · 28/05/2024 08:38

9lbs is amazing @colleysmill! Well done. As is 11lbs @Sharpasknives - do you feel your clothes sitting better?

I am still hovering around 5lbs and due to take my third jab on Thursday. I'm going to up the water content between now and then. I haven't been dieting as such but eating much smaller portions and just don't feel hungry so there's no temptation to snack.

I was trying to order my 0.5 pen last night but it's saying I need to wait until I'm closer to the window for taking it so will try again in a few days. It's saying stocks running low so I'm not sure if I'll get it on time or not.

Sharpasknives · 28/05/2024 08:53

Yes clothes feel much better . Starting weight was 14.3 - am only 5 ft so this was toooo heavy . Sensible weight for me is 10.10
hoping for a stone loss t end of this week
generally feel more positive and happier

evolute · 28/05/2024 12:39

Greentrilby · 24/05/2024 19:59

can I ask you about the extra dose as I’m confused! I thought in order to get the 5th dose out of the pen you had to do the hard twist, plus have a needle. Have you bought any needles yet? And are you definitely going straight on to 5mg or going to wait and see? I don’t know what to order next.

@Greentrilby nope, hadn’t thought enough in advance - realised I need extra needles whatever method so had better get on and order some this week!
I am going for the 5 next, can see you’ve decided that in the meantime too which is great! only two days till 3rd weigh in.

evolute · 28/05/2024 12:41

Have to say I’m so grateful for our May thread! I’ve struggled to keep up so there is no hope in keeping up with the continuing mounjaro thread these days. Gives me hope though how many of us are collectively doing this.
Wellcome newbies!
Ive been a bit funky this week and suppression has barely been there, came on my period on Sunday so not sure what to expect on Thursday-have read lots about a reduced loss/maintain/gain, but at least have this in mind so not to be disheartened no matter what!

LiveLoveLifeForever · 28/05/2024 12:43

So I’m seriously considering starting. I’ve done a couple of consultations and been approved but not ordered yet. I’m just looking at the long term and thinking am I going to have to use it for life? Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts and have considered what will happen when you stop taking it?

evolute · 28/05/2024 12:45

Greentrilby · 26/05/2024 08:38

Welcome to all our lovely May joiners. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

@ClonedSquare I think you are right about sticking to the suggested schedule, especially if you haven’t had any major side effects. I think I’ll order 5mg for my second order. How annoying about the scales: I find mine weigh differently if I move them about in the bathroom, even though it’s a flat, tiled floor. I’ve discovered I weigh my lightest if I put them just in front of the loo. Moving them to the door, adds 2lbs so it’s certainly not an exact science.

@Greentrilby THIS!
I’ve got a tile in the kitchen I have to do it on every week because I see how varied it can be. Dreading needing to do new battery in case it changes, but remember it’s not you and the scales are still moving in the right direction ultimately! I’m keeping an eye on muscle/fat/water weights too in the hope if the scales stay the same I can see another win.
Well done on your early weigh in @ClonedSquare!!

Personally I had slipped into awful awful habits with food, just mindless eating, constant takeaways, cake every day, cans of full fat coke. So although I'll always struggle with my weight, because I have since I was a child, I've found a way to claw myself out of the hole of food addiction I've been in and have a hard reset. Maybe I'll have to take another course of MJ in future and that's fine! I'll deal with that at the time. For now, I'm concentrating on each day at a time.
