@LiveLoveLifeForever I know the feeling and apprehension. I went with it deciding it could at least kick start losing weight given I’ve so much to lose. UK guidelines state you can only be on it for 2 years (unlike America), but most of us (and a great number of threads under ‘continuing mounjaro’) are not even close to target as it’s only been out here a few months. My mindset now is to hopefully afford it for a few months (albeit on credit card) to give myself the mental rest of it feeling hard work, and time to build better habits in the meantime.

ClonedSquare · 28/05/2024 13:07

@evolute thanks!

I went to have an implant fitted today and they weighed me. Their manual scales weight me lighter than my home scales just two hours previously 😂 Just got to stick with the same set in the same position, I guess!

Rulay · 28/05/2024 13:40

Week 1 day 6 and it's all back, the food noise, the appetite, omg I am ravenous. I am going to have take my week 2 injection a bit early because I'm in danger of undoing my hard work!

I’ve just booked a holiday for 2 months and I really would like to lose some weight for that initially. I think after that I’d just review it as I have 3.5-4 stone to lose so it’s quite a financial commitment to then regain when I come off it.

Personally I had slipped into awful awful habits with food, just mindless eating, constant takeaways, cake every day, cans of full fat coke. So although I'll always struggle with my weight, because I have since I was a child, I've found a way to claw myself out of the hole of food addiction I've been in and have a hard reset. Maybe I'll have to take another course of MJ in future and that's fine! I'll deal with that at the time. For now, I'm concentrating on each day at a time.

I was sort of ok until my mid 40’s’s but then it’s been losing the same weight over again but I’m now my heaviest at 56. I’ve just done a self referral for weight loss help via NHS for Second Nature who do actually also use Mounjaro but I know I won’t get it free from them. It does make me feel better for buying it though as they do promote it along side the support through diet and mindset. I’m hoping to get in a 12 week program although it might be a few weeks before I hear back and I have a holiday booked in 2 months.

LoveSandbanks · 28/05/2024 15:50

Had my second injection today. I swear I’m hungrier after it than before 🤣

I had a chest infection last week so didn’t track any of my food but could have sworn that I ate barely anything. Today I tracked and, if pressed, would be convinced I’d eaten very little. That very little is 1400 calories!!

the only side effect so far seems to be constipation but that probably comes with the poor diet I ate last week. 🙄

3wDavid · 28/05/2024 18:13

Hi all, just checking in. Day 4 for me. The nausea and headache from yesterday has finally lifted! I managed to eat a protein shake and a soup, and planning a salad with chicken for dinner, but I’m really struggling hitting the 1400 calories…I don’t really like this, but nothing sounds yummy and it’s been a struggle eating. I know it’s early days, but I didn’t expect the 2.5 to have this big of an effect. As of this morning I’m already 2.5kg / 5.5 lbs down. It feels too much too quickly but maybe that’s normal at the very beginning??

InvisibleLlama79 · 28/05/2024 23:05

End of Week 3 and another 3lbs down (11 in 3 weeks). Days 1 - 3 awful with feeling sick, lack if energy and just stomach ache. Days 4- 6 much better. Wasn't sure I wanted to carry on but know I'm making good choices and feeling bouyed by a few less rubbish days again.

Have done injection 4 tonight and tried thigh this time as have heard there are less side effects so worth a try!

Who has moved on to 5mg? How is it?

Well done to everyone for their losses and welcome to those joining the May starters 😊

SparkleBrightt · 29/05/2024 01:48

Well done everyone on their success so far and welcome to all the newbies
im due to start the 5mg later this week i hope it will work better than the 2.5mg

with the extra dose it was easier than i thought itd be. You just have to give it a hard twist and it works! N

hornetgirl · 29/05/2024 10:20

Morning all, just did my 3rd 2.5 injection this morning. I have lost some weight, but mainly I because don't fancy food as much. I feel vaguely icky all the time!

Diet started - NOOM 3/4/24 and OMAD
Mounjaro started 15/5/24

Starting weight 88KG
Current weight 84KG
aiming for 70KG by September for a cruise.

slowly does it .......

Btrsun10 · 29/05/2024 10:27

So, I bit the bullet!
Had the pen in the fridge and had decided I would start on Monday as I had a wedding last weekend.
Woke up about 3am on Monday morning with a sore throat and feeling pretty crap but decided I would do the injection on getting up. Went ahead with the plan.

I know it's only Wednesday but I've not noticed any suppression and the food noise is still there. I'm hoping it'll kick in soon!

I tried Oz last year and it did absolutely nothing for me and I lost Zero weight.
It made me feel sick, sore and depressed!
I've not had any of those symptoms so keeping everything crossed that none of that appears and once I get on to the higher doses, the weight will start coming off.
I'm clearly not a super responder.

LiveLoveLifeForever · 29/05/2024 13:44

Just bought my first pen, hopefully be here by Friday so should just about make the May deadline for this thread 😀😀!!

SunFlowerRose · 29/05/2024 13:51

I've had one 1.8 dose from my last Saxenda pen. When I get paid on Friday I'm ordering Mounjaro which should arrive next week.

Can I still join you all for the May weight loss? As ill still hopefully be losing weight.

After losing 1 stone my weight seems to be stuck. I'm in a calorie deficit each day and have been working harder at the gym. I hope it rights itself soon.

Hello all 👋
am not a Mum but always go to MumsNet for reviews and the truth about things! Mums always know best!
Am peri menopausal since 39. Now 47 and with lockdown I have put on a lot of excess weight that is hard to lose. Also picked up some pretty bad crisp habits!
I have been on MJ for almost a month now. Am on 4th jab. No huge side effects. Not achy and headaches but I would get those normally so just means more often.
SW 13.0
CW 12.4
lost 6 lbs in first week. 0 in second but I was away in France. Did find I wasn’t as obsessed about food so ate less as normally that would have been a 4-6lb rise. Lost 2 in week 3 and 1lb so far this week. Next dose in Sunday so hoping at another cheeky lb loss to end on 10 for 2.5mg. Over the moon!!! Already feel able to drop from 4 pumps to 3 on my HRT as the weight gain has exacerbated my peri symptoms

I have been sick twice. Both times too much wine 🍷 . I feel ill now if have more than 2 glasses. Also I ate cheese both times with the wine! Oopsy 🧀 🍷

defo find food noise to be less and I can sit and not eat! Less bloated as well. About to move up to 5mg. Did anyone else slow down but then get big drop again with next dose up?? Or is the 2lb per week (which is amazing) about standard now??

Snipples · 29/05/2024 17:45

How are we all doing. I am weighing in at end of week 2 tomorrow but not expecting the scales to move as it's been hovering at the same all week. I have def felt hungrier in the last day or so, so you can feel when it's coming up to jab day.

Trying to make sure I drink enough which is always a struggle for me but really makes the difference. My clothes all fit better and I ordered new clothes for hols coming up and would normally grab the bigger size but was fine in the smaller one so that was a boost.

Dollydaydream04 · 29/05/2024 18:21

I started MJ on the 24th May.
SW 11.4
I haven't been able to eat hardly anything so I've lost 7 pounds in 5 days.
Also alcohol made me sick.
Ive been drinking so much water, does everyone else crave it ?

3wDavid · 29/05/2024 21:20

@Snipples that’s an amazing NSV re the clothing size! Go you! Also don’t be discouraged on the weight, it’s probably water weight, especially if you’ve been sticking to a calorie deficit. Just need to have some patience for the big WHOOSH!

@Dollydaydream04 that’s an amazing loss! Well done you! Water is good! And apparently the more the better so go you!

I’m finally on the up and up, I’ve had a rough last couple of days, I think I got both some MJ side effects (nausea and headache) and a bug (sore throat and fever/chills) and it was not a fun combo.
Today is day 5 for me since starting and is the first day I’ve eaten well, meaning that I wasn’t at all nauseous and managed to eat good sized portions within my calorie deficit. I definitely did not manage that the last few days.
My scales show 6 lbs loss so far, which is good, I think it will either be that for week 1 or slightly less, as I’m also due to get my period on Sat/Sun and I always have some hormonal gains in the lead up to it.

ClonedSquare · 29/05/2024 21:27

I think I'm going to have stalled on the loss front this week, as we're off to London for the weekend and eating out a lot. I find on Mounjaro I can unfortunately still eat restaurant sized meals, although I do maybe order less or leave a little on my plate.

So far I've not necessarily been super good at eating healthy and although I've definitely been eating way less, some of that has still been chocolate (albeit a fun size serving rather than a whole sharing bag). So as of next Monday (my next weigh in and moving up to 5mg) I'm going to be more strict with myself.

LilyTheSavage · 30/05/2024 06:43

Hi everybody. Just checking in for my own accountability, so posting. I was just thinking about food noise. I definitely think about food still, but the "eat me, eat me" voice has gone. It's like a will-power jab. My big treat for the week is going to a chip shack after a rehearsal with a friend. I am finding that I am enjoying them but only able to eat half a dozen. I feel really full, but then very smug.

I know I need to drink more water, but I just don't get around to it. I am drinking much less alcohol though. Does anybody else have headaches? I'm onto my second pen (.05mg) and otherwise doing well. I wish I'd been brave and weighed myself at the beginning. As it is, I only weighed in for the first time on Monday. I'm excited and nervous about my next weigh in. Can't stop now.

I had to get weighed at a nurses BP/pulse check appointment today and it said 5lbs lighter than my home scale said right before I left! I thought my scale was pretty accurate so now I’m not sure which is right. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess I’ll just keep going with my home scale for consistency.

I’ve been thinking of getting another scale upstairs though, maybe I’ll get another well rated one for up there and just see if it’s the same as downstairs or not.

Greentrilby · 30/05/2024 10:01

@evolute @ClonedSquare
how are my triplet buddies getting on?
im at the end of week three and lost two pounds this week so a total of 11lbs.

just had notification from VOY that my 5mg pen is going to be sent shortly. Am undecided whether to go straight to 5 or somewhere in the middle like 3.5. Will see how week four goes then decide.

Ah just read you’re off to London. Have a fab time, I love going for a few days as the hustle and bustle is so different from where I live.

ShiftySandDune · 30/05/2024 10:09

I am at the end of my first week and I am injecting for the second time this evening. Weight loss for this first week is 2kg. Happy with that! I know some will be water weight but I think that’s not too shabby.

Appetite has definitely come back but my ability to eat as much hasn’t. I have mostly been having a protein shake and a dinner each day. The dinner was rather large last night and I’ve regretted it since as I have just felt very bloated. So won’t be making that mistake again.

CoolRanch · 30/05/2024 10:30

I also meant to say I weighed myself yesterday, end of week two, and now down 8lbs total on start of injections. Pretty good considering we have had both my and my husband’s birthdays in that time, AND a weekend away!

I have gone out to eat (could only eat half what I ordered but enjoyed it), had treats and cake more often than usual (small portions is all I wanted), and just generally didn’t have to try to be careful at all, and didn’t feel I was missing out! Crazy!!!!

I’ve now ordered 5mg yesterday for going up to in a couple weeks.
