Hello, I'd like to join too - like @Rulay and @Goldffinch I've got a lot to lose, starting weight is just under 20 stone, and I'm also doing this for health reasons. I've been fat all my life - got away with it when I was younger, but I'm late-ish 50s now, and have high blood pressure and dodgy knees from YEARS of being fat, plus whenever I get palpitations I panic that I'll die in the night of a heart attack (although I'm pretty sure they were menopause related as they've pretty much stopped now). Then carry on eating the next day.

Anyway - did the first injection last night. Happily DH is a nurse so I got him to do it for me, very handy! I've had no symptoms at all so far, but also no change to appetite at all. I was wondering if size makes a difference - if you're bigger, are you more likely to get the impact on higher doses? I really hope it works - my next option after that is gym membership and personal trainer, which would probably be about the same cost.

It’s arrived and it’s hidden in the fridge I am plucking up courage to do that first jab tonight

ClonedSquare · 22/05/2024 17:23

@Splattsagain I don't think your size makes a difference to how effective it is. I'm heavier than you and it worked for me straight away. Possibly being heavier lessens the negative side effects though, as I haven't really had any of those.

Sassenach85 · 22/05/2024 17:48

Anybody found they put weight ON?? I stupidly weighed myself and it’s 3 pounds up! I’ve hardly been eating so i don’t understand. Tbf it’s only been 3 days but how have I put weight on?? 😫

ClonedSquare · 22/05/2024 18:37

@Sassenach85 My scales fluctuate pretty wildly on Mounjaro compared to other diets I've been on. So I can be up two pounds one day and then down three the next.

Sassenach85 · 22/05/2024 19:31

Thank you! Feeling fed up, wish I hadn’t checked 😂

CoolRanch · 22/05/2024 23:33

Hi everyone. Dose 2 today and I weighed myself and I am 5 lbs down in first week. Extra happy with that because I normally eat healthy and low salt stuff anyway, but it was my birthday yesterday and we had Tex-Mex (salty) and birthday cake. I was expecting to retain water etc with that meal. So to still be down 5 lbs with a birthday meal last night feels great!

ClonedSquare · 23/05/2024 07:01

Just weighed in for week 2 and down another 3lbs. Would have liked more, but can't complain at a 9lbs loss in two weeks! I'm now down into the next stone category too which is nice (admittedly, I'm Xstone 13 😂)

My current goal is 27lbs off on the next 18 weeks, when I go on holiday. That’s 1.5lbs a week which wouldn’t be implausible without Mounjaro so hopefully I can definitely make it!

Big fluctuations in a short time period are likely to be water rather than fat. Your body just can't lay down that much fat in a couple of days.

loudbatperson · 23/05/2024 07:21

I am at the end of my first week so have weighed.

I have lost just over 5 pounds. I'm very happy with that, although I do expect the rate of loss to slow down obviously.

The first week has been pretty good for me. No major side effects. I did feel queasy a couple of times but nothing that couldn't be ignored.

I did find I was slightly more aware of hunger in the last couple of days, but not too badly and I could easily ignore it until meal time.

The biggest impact on me is how much the thought of food is "dulled". I don't really have food noise, and I am not craving stuff. I can easily have a bite of something, without setting off the "oh my that was nice let's put loads more in" feeing. The "flavour train" as my husband calls it.

LilyTheSavage · 22/05/2024 14:31

Anonymous37 - I tried to click up the last dose but it wouldn't budge so I extracted the last (fifth) dose using an insulin syringe with a very fine needle. I found that info on one of the other MJ threads and obtained some needles. Just need to make sure to hold the syringe upside down and gentle squeeze to allow any air drops to come to the top and disperse. When a droplet of MJ appears then you can use it.
I wasn't going to dispose of any excess as it just seemed so wasteful. Marketing ploy?

I'm going to do exactly that! With how much it costs, I refuse to see any go to waste lol

evolute · 23/05/2024 08:00

Congrats @CoolRanch @loudbatperson on week one successes 💪🏼

evolute · 23/05/2024 08:02

@InvisibleLlama79 @Greentrilby thanks for your support on the wobble, I knew it was in my head and need to not avoid here like I would tend to, just be open and honest.

spurred on by weigh in too. End of week 2 and another 3lbs down, so 8.5 in total! Now that’s motivation! Similar loss and great work @ClonedSquare!

Greentrilby · 23/05/2024 09:19

Morning all! Well done on your second week @evolute @ClonedSquare .
end of week 2 for me too and I’ve lost 3 pounds. Happy with that.

going to look at buying some needles to capture that fifth dose in my pen. I think they are discussed on the continuing mounjaro thread so I’ll start there.

chrispenrallt1 · 23/05/2024 13:05

Well I did the first dose this morning . It was pain free and so easy . I will be trying my best to eat well .

MsClittirati · 23/05/2024 13:13

Amazing @FlappyFish and such an inspiration.
I am similar starting weight and need to buy a wedding dress in a few months and you have made me realise it’s realistic that I won’t be ashamed of my weight in my wedding pictures. I was a 20stone very fat (and unhappy ) bride 1 st time round over 20 years ago and this time will be different. I am lighter than I was back than but I am still obese.

I am day 3 week 1 and feeling very good. Scales show a 3lb loss but I just can’t get over how I am not thinking of food . I am still eating and enjoying small meals.

I just regret not starting this before but am very optimistic and excited about the future and my future wardrobe !

does anyone know if you can buy extra needles to get the extra dose or do you have to use another type ?

this thread is so lovely and supportive thank you .

Jibberoo · 23/05/2024 14:42

Hi all

Th ask for all your posts - it's keeping my spirits up knowing the journey isnt always smooth.
im on jab 2 and so far not feeling the same fullness as start of last week (but i took the dose this morning vs at night last time). im only down about 3 pounds which is depressing as I hardly ate (only 1 meal split into 2). But it's early and I guess as long as it continues at this rate I should be happy.
Hope everyone is going well though.

SunFlowerRose · 23/05/2024 16:09

Have any of you previously taken Saxenda? I wondered how it compares. I have 1 full pen and 1 quarter of another left and then I will be switching.

Rulay · 23/05/2024 17:18

Took my first dose today at lunchtime. I already feel a bit less hungry I think which is surprising how fast that happened but I'm thinking a lot about food, how long does it take for the food noise to quiet down a bit? I think I'm in a bit of a panic because now I've had the first jab I know things are going to change so my brains turning to my comfort which is food.

Rulay · 23/05/2024 17:20

I'm also panicking that the jab won't work for me. I joined a Facebook group and lots of people on there are saying it hasn't worked for them and it's left me thinking oh god I've potentially wasted £140 here

ClonedSquare · 23/05/2024 17:28

@Rulay Are you a boredom eater usually? I am and I find that although Mounjaro stops the food noise when I'm occupied, I still sometimes decide to eat snacks or bad food if I'm just sitting around. I don't feel the same intense cravings I would before, but it pops into my mind out of habit I think.

Greentrilby · 23/05/2024 18:57

@Rulay i think @ClonedSquare raises some good points. Boredom eating is my downfall too. That and eating in the car. I associate a car journey with a bag of sweets and always have some ready. I’ve not got any at the moment but still fancy some when driving. Patterns of behaviour are hard to break aren’t they.

Greentrilby · 23/05/2024 19:07

@MsClittirati the thread ‘continuing Mounjaro’ has info on needles I think. Will take a look in a bit. Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding; shopping for a dress is going to be such fun for you.

@Jibberoo a three pound loss is good so don’t beat yourself up about it. We are all in the very early stages and some lose more than others initially.

@chrispenrallt1 yey you’ve taken the plunge. Hope you have a good first week.

@loudbatperson i like the idea of a flavour train!

@SunFlowerRose sorry I don’t have any experience of Saxenda.

onwards and downwards everyone 😃

Rulay · 23/05/2024 19:35

I'm an everything eater. Boredom, stress, social, alone...you name it, I'll be eating Blush

chrispenrallt1 · 23/05/2024 20:21

Hi Rulay
We both started today! I was very nervous of doing the injection but it was fine. Let’s see how we get on this week
Good Luck and healthy eating !
