Just a little update from me!

Still sticking, more or less, to 1500-1600 a day but defo notice as I get closer to injection day (Sunday for me) that the temptation comes back. I’ve tried to balance this by having little “treats” stashed away so I don’t go berserk, like pop chips and the mini tubs of Haagen Dazs.

Will be my 4th dose of 0.25 (Wegovy) this weekend so will be moving up to 0.5 next week… bit nervous as I’ve been so fortunate to have minimal side effects so far.

SW 14st 12.5lbs
CW 14st 4lbs
GW 12st 7lbs

Also, need to stop weighing myself every couple of days as that way madness lies. I’ve stayed at 14st 4lbs for a few days now and it’s making me disheartened when, really, I shouldn’t be. Marathon not a sprint, marathon not a sprint, marathon not a sprint… 🤪

Amazing Jonswifey! Do you mind me asking what start weight was and where you are now?

I have a wedding in July and I don't know if I should put off shopping or would I have the possibility of having lost a dress size by then and I should hold out to closer to the time.

Another question I have just thought off, what are yous doing with your shape bins when then are full? Just return to your local pharmacy?

SW 12st 1lb
CW 10st 7Lbs

I am only 5ft so looked worse on me. I was bordering a size 16 but now can fit into a 12 easily. Sold lots of my old clothes on Vinted and put that money to refresh my wardrobe. My dog has diabetes so I put my sharps in his bin and take it to the vet for disposal.

CTRight · 25/04/2024 14:08

First jab yesterday and am surprised by how quickly it has taken effect - really struggled to eat a wholemeal roll at lunch, the bread just felt really chewy and hard to swallow.... though was sick after drinking tea this morning - felt fine other than than...

Beyondbeliefsometimes · 25/04/2024 14:09

Jonswifey that's amazing. I'm not much taller at 5'2. I am well into a size 16 and my swimming suit that I'm rolling out of is a size 18! If I could achieve half of your weight loss in that time frame I'd be delighted.

I'm also reading about people weighing once a week. I thought recent advice had changed to weighing daily and taking average loss across the week. Due to fluctuations weight can changed quite a lot for women particularly each day. So if you weigh once a week and it happens to be a bad day (say day before period) it coukd be quite disheartening and not an accurate reflection. I was planning on continuing daily weigh ins with weekly averages. Does it advise against this anywhere?

I don't know, but I was going to weigh weekly because I thought if my weight went up a couple of days in a row I'd get down! So trying to leave a decent amount of time to see some movement in the right direction. I'm not sure what's best, though. Perhaps different depending on the person?

Beyondbeliefsometimes · 25/04/2024 16:49

@stayspicy yes I suspect different things work for different folk. With daily weighing you don't get the big satisfying drop in weight. It tends to be small and gradual

MendaciousMabel · 25/04/2024 17:27

I prepped a nice salad this morning while baby was napping and went to have it for lunch a few hours ago and dropped it all over the floor! Couldn't be bothered to go out and restock on ingredients I'd used up for it so had crumpets instead. Not as filling so I'm feeling quite hungry now. I'm going to have a ready meal for something a bit comforting but not horrendous!

lastapache · 25/04/2024 17:27

Hi All

I'm in Ireland so there no Mounjaro or Wegovy here (at least not yet). My doctor has prescribed me Ozempic, but I'll only be able to go up to 1mg. Hopefully by the time I titrate up to that dose Novo Nordisk will have launched Wegovy here.

I took my first jab last night. I was terrified because I really really hate needles and I was so worried about the side effects. I've done so much research on the medication it felt like a really huge step. In the end, I decided to only take a half dose, just to make sure I didn't feel sick.

I don't know what I was worried about. Just like others have said I didn't feel the needle at all. And needless to say, given I only took a half dose, I don't feel anything good or bad today. Maybe slightly less appetite but that could also be a placebo effect. I'm tempted to take the second half dose this evening, just to see if the full dose does much. I understand that taking the full dose might not change anything either - most people don't feel the benefits until after a few doses.

I am 205lbs and 5'7", so just over into the BMI 30+ category. I'd love to get down under 160lbs, but I understand that a max of 1mg might only let me lose 15-20lbs. I'm hoping my body responds a bit more to the medication but there's a reason, I guess, that average weight loss on 1mg Ozempic is 10-15%. I will probably stall for a while until Wegovy becomes available, and then hopefully the higher doses will shift a bit more weight. Then other medications are coming that are more effective so I'll hold out, again, for those.

My plan, like many on here, is to get to a goal weight and then titrate downwards. I don't know if I'll ever be able to come off the medication (I fully believe it's an imbalance of hormones, not a lack of willpower, and that imbalance is not cured by Ozempic, only treated). But I will try to come down to the lowest dose possible without putting on weight.

I've found these threads so helpful in preparing me to start this. Good luck to everyone!

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 25/04/2024 19:03

The hunger is back! So I had 36 hours without when I was hoping for a few days. I had lunch on the go today with limited options so I'm wondering if that might have caused it. I'm going to try to stick to sensible choices tonight & tomorrow and see if the lid feeling comes back

tinpeach · 25/04/2024 21:51

Just had my first ever dose of Wegovy. Was a pretty simple procedure. It's been about 9 hours and I feel hungrier than ever lol. Hoping I'll feel different when i wake up.

I did my first dose split over two days. Go for it.

Just received my delivery for MJ and excited to take my first shot tomorrow. Really hoping this works as I’m at a loss!
cw - 110kg
gw - 75kg

i am 5ft 4 but feel 75 is a good goal to get to and see how I progress

Canyoudigityesyoucan · 26/04/2024 07:45

ToddUnctious1 · 24/04/2024 21:05

@Canyoudigityesyoucan you could be similar to me then! Or maybe I'll be similar to you!

I've decided to order MJ for the 4 weeks and see how I get on. Using a code meant it was £114 which I think is reasonable and not too much money to waste should I only be able to stomach it for a few weeks!

I was sick several times on Ozempic and other times I had to make myself sick because the nauseous feeling was just too much - thank god it wore off as soon as I stopped taking it - although this was days as opposed to hours worse luck

Are you still taking the MJ now?

Last dose I did a week ago today- and spent Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in bed or with my head in the toilet. Have never ever been so unwell. Luckily that was my last dose so won’t be reordering, going to try and calorie count instead. I just could not hack the sickness , all the electrolytes in the world, changing on injection site or protein couldn’t save me!

Canyoudigityesyoucan · 26/04/2024 07:47

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 24/04/2024 21:13

I think I’m one of the people who is hyper sensitive to it, injected Monday morning - appetite gone by dinner time, lots of vomiting last night, had my tea a couple of hours ago (two chicken sausages, spoonful of mash and 2 spoons of beans, literally half of a side plate) and now have cramps and diarrhoea.

And this dose isn’t even meant to be therapeutic, I think I would pass out on a full dose 🤦🏼‍♀️

Basically same as me! Anything I ate just either came back up or back out. Awful, I am a week now on the other side of that dose and I am hoping it’s out of my system soon!

schoolie258 · 26/04/2024 07:53

Finishing the first week with a 6lbs loss!

Second injection done this morning because I felt really hungry for the first time since the first jag. Like others I wasn't sure if the second one went in because I didn't feel anything but it definitely did.

So far I've not really had any side effects other than one day of mild diarrhoea.

I'm still weighing my food and tracking calories

StaySpicy · 26/04/2024 08:04

Fantastic, @schoolie258 , well done, 6lbs is brilliant!

I did a cheeky early weigh-in today and have lost 2lbs. So I'm taking that! I've been 12st 13 for about a year, so seeing anything lower is a boost!

schoolie258 · 26/04/2024 09:13

Thanks ☺️

2lbs is a great loss @StaySpicy so hopefully it continues!

The only thing I'm worried about is when I get my period.... I'll be due in the next couple of weeks and I'm usually so moody, so hungry, eat loads of junk, self soothe with takeaways. I'm not sure what it'll be like on this injection.

Has anyone had their period? How was it compared to before wagovy / MJ?

I've just taken my last dose of 0.25 this week so move up to 0.5 next Wednesday
I am definitely noticing it's not having such an effect so hopefully the increase to 0.5 will help!
Reassuring to hear you're experiencing the same!

Mine came 10 days early, which was annoying. But there's a link between fat loss and hormones and an early period (can't remember the details) so I tried to take it as a positive.

Ghilliedu · 26/04/2024 10:02

So this week I’ve been trying the daily weigh in as suggested earlier on the thread and it’s just not for me. One day I lost 4lbs overnight and then the next day I’d put 2 of those back on. I know that’s how it works and daily fluctuations are normal, but for me it just wasn’t good psychologically. I’ve spent the last hour feeling crap about regaining 2lbs even though deep down I know I haven’t. So back to weekly for me. I need to take my measurements too because I’m definitely noticing clothes feeling looser on me

PrimalLass · 26/04/2024 10:10

I'm a daily weigher - actually morning and night - because I like the data and seeing how it all works.

I hear you and I’m the same. Maybe there’s an argument that it’s good for an awareness of fluctuations in weight but I find, same as you, it makes me hyper fixate on the number on the scales. I can be feeling slimmer and good about myself and then the number on the scales can knock the wind out of me. Back to weekly weigh ins for me too!

Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

I just received my mounjaro pen yesterday and took my first dose. I don't feel any different yet?! although consciously trying to eat better and drink more fluids.

SW: 12st 6lbs
GW: 9st 10lbs (although I'd be happy to get down to 11st at the min)

Cerialkiller · 26/04/2024 11:58

Just did my first jab of MJ this morning at 9ish. Dunno if its psychosomatic/placebo but already feeling meh about eating even though i cooked my favourite food last night (creamy chicken and bacon bake) and the left overs are in the fridge unmolested. Just don't feel motivated to heat them up. I'm also a bit concerned about the side effects of eating something so fatty.

I usually keto and have read that combining that with MJ is a way to make it more effective so plan to continue that as i'm used to it. My usually issue is that i lose an initial 7-10lb then get overwhelmed by cravings, fall off the wagon then struggle to get back on. Usually feel physically awful, bloated and struggling to sleep which then motivated me to start again, repeat cycle. I'm hoping that i can stop that cycle with MJ. Only planning to do it for 3 months as that's all I can probably afford.

One question. Has anyone combined with fasting? I usually intermittant fast and have done 24-36hour water fasts before but i don't know if that would have a negative effect on MJ and blood sugar would fall too much. Should i be making myself eat if i'm not fussed?
