Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

I’m sad to say that I’m giving up on my wegovy journey.

I’m on week 8. So 4 x 0.25 and 4 x 0.5. I’ve lost 1st 4lbs.

But the side effects are horrendous. I constantly feel sick, and I had HG throughout my pregnancy so this is very triggering. I’ve lost 3 full days to throwing up in the last 3 weeks, the eggy burps, the tummy aches. None of it is worth it. I’m missing out on life too much.

InspectorGidget · 01/07/2024 15:15

I'm sorry to see that @Wegovygirl

Have you considered a break and then trying Mounjaro? I hope you feel better soon

Wegovygirl · 01/07/2024 15:18

Possibly. But I start a new job soon and can’t risk being off ill like I have been the last 4 or 5 weeks. I’ve missed birthdays and spending time with my son, husband is supportive of the weight loss but also recognises I’m nothing like my usual self when on it. Another night last night of throwing up has sealed the deal sadly.

InspectorGidget · 01/07/2024 15:20

Oh gosh that doesn't sound good.

Wishing you all the best. These threads are such support so feel bad for those it's not worked for.

I'm only 9 weeks in and haven't had fab losses but minimal side effects so hoping this is it now and am in it for the long haul.

Try Mounjaro!
I was originally on Ozempic (same as Wegovy)
I felt so ill. Constant D&V , nausea and exhaustion.
I lost loads of weight and I looked good but felt horrendous.

9 months on I'm on Monjaro, and whilst the weight loss is far far far slower, I've had no side effects at all!

MrsSchmoo · 01/07/2024 16:21

when people are talking about the extra dose of the munjaro injections - how do you get the extra bonus dose out? after the 4 shots my pen won't move but i can see there is quite a lot left in the pen.

GreyFinch · 01/07/2024 20:56

@MrsSchmoo I grab the end of the pen with my teeth (cringes me every time!) but others use pliers or an insulin needle to extract the medication out

Justkeeprollingalong · 02/07/2024 08:51

@MrsSchmoo does the dosage gauge turn to one in the same way so you know how much you are getting?

so basically you just need to extract the liquid and use another form of injection to put it into? :-)

after the 4 doses from each pen it won't move again - hence why i can't get the last of the fluid out as an extra dose.

InspectorGidget · 02/07/2024 09:55

I use an insulin needle (1ml disposables) to extract the last bit and then inject into me.

Justkeeprollingalong · 02/07/2024 11:17

@MrsSchmoo how do you know how much you are injecting?

Justkeeprollingalong · 02/07/2024 11:18

Sorry that was for @GreyFinch

I'm on wk 2 of 5mg but feeling really ill - nauseous and so cold! Having difficulty eating anything. I think I need to drop down for next time - does anybody know how many 'clicks' I need to get 3.75mg?

Justkeeprollingalong · 03/07/2024 10:16

It's weigh day today and I've lost 24lbs (1st 10) 🎉
I started at 11st 10 and my target is 10st 7 to be at the very top of the NHS Healthy BMI range.
That's due to Mounjaro 2.5ml x4, 5ml x4 and 2 doses of 7ml.
I'm undecided about whether to go up to 10ml for the next pen.
I'm worried whether it'll be harder to come off of the higher dose. Or maybe get 2 10ml pens and use the last one to have smaller doses with gradually increasing gaps in between.
Any advice?

Justkeeprollingalong · 03/07/2024 13:38

@hopelessbusiness there's a click chart somewhere but I don't know how to search for it. Hopefully someone will provide a link for us.
Sorry you are suffering 💐

45 clicks on a 5mg pen.

60 is full dose of 5, 30 clicks will be 2.5.
So 45 will get you 3.75mg.

Myownname · 03/07/2024 16:45

Hi, this might be a really stupid question! I just ordered Mounjaro from simple online pharmacy, it’ll be 2.5 as with all the other companies. It was a bit cheaper than wegovy but will it only be enough for one week, or for a month? The wegovy says 4 injections and the mounjaro seems to say 1. I feel stupid, but I can’t seem to work it out and am feeling nervous now that I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered it, Tia if anyone can clarify!

You inject Mounjaro once a week.

the pen you buy has 4 doses in it (plus some left over)

a pen should last you 4 weeks

Just remember that a pen has to be used within 30 days of first use so a 10mg one may not be cost effective

Justkeeprollingalong · 04/07/2024 08:26

@QueenOfHiraeth thank you for the reply. Have you any idea how people are titrating down from 10 mg using the pens cost effectively?

QueenOfHiraeth · 04/07/2024 11:02

@Justkeeprollingalong I honestly don't know as I'm not near that point and have only used clicks to put a 3.75 between my 2.5 and 5 as I was on holiday.

Having seen some posts on FB and Tiktok of what some people do, I dread to think!
I think I read that one of the providers (maybe Numan?) had told someone it may be safe to extend up to 6 weeks but the manufacturer has not confirmed that to my knowledge
The pens have been tested for stability with the red seal being punctured 4 times over 4 weeks so that is all they will guarantee.
Maybe have a look at the Continuing Mounjaro threads as they have been running longer unless there are any maintenance threads
Good luck

Help, I feel so ill. I started about six weeks ago. Had five doses o 2.5. This worked really well and have already lost over a stone. However, on monday this week had my first injection at 5 mg. The side effects have been awful. Awful burps, pain, vomiting every night and bad stomach. I'm not overeating (yesterday I had a small protein pancake for breakfast and a small smoked fish salad for lunch and nothing else) or eating the wrong things. Is this a bug or the drugs? Can I have half a dose next week? (though to be honest I am thinking of missing a week because I feel so bad). has anyone else gone through this?

Ghilliedu · 04/07/2024 15:49

@FromCuddleLand The jump from 2.5 to 5 is petty huge and while some people mange it with no bad side effects, others don’t - me included! I had 2 weeks of constant vomiting and I spoke to MedExpress and they told me to go back down to 2.5. I did that for a couple of weeks til I felt better then I started counting clicks and titrating up slowly. Some people don’t agree with this as it’s not how it’s meant to be done but for me, I had to. I couldn’t continue to be that ill and I didn’t want to give up on MJ as it works! Some have said it does get easier by the time you get to the pen but the sickness was too much for me

Hope you feel better soon!
