Mounjaro and wegovy newbies April 2024

Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

Iv been reading the thread for guidance. Enjoying everyone's contribution. Due M delivery tomorrow will be starting Friday i think so i can enjoy Daughters birthday.

Week 7 Day 6 here.

15lb lost, so down from 205lb to 190lb. I’m really hoping to get under 190 on Wednesday.

I’ve had a bit of a smorgasbord of side effects over the past fortnight. I inject on a Wednesday, feel nothing on a Thursday- no appetite suppression or side effects, Friday is crushing tiredness. The tiredness carries into Saturday which leads to me overeating or eating sugary things for energy. That leads to sulphur burps and diarrhoea on a Sunday. Monday to Wednesday lunchtime I feel great - not hungry, no cravings and full of energy. And then the cycle goes again.

Tried injecting in the thigh last week. Can’t say I noticed a difference.

Also, finally told my husband. I don’t know what I was worried about. He said he just wanted me to be happy and if this made me happy he was on board.

hello just looking for some advice on going up to 5mg mounjaro. So I injected my last 2.5mg today, Tuesday and am due to do my first 5mg next Tuesday. Problem is I have a big work event on Wednesday and Thursday and don’t want to be unwell with side effects. So do you think I could

1. inject 2.5mg next Tuesday my normal day (by doing half the clicks)
2. inject the remaining 2.5mg on next Thursday after my event
3. then do my second week of 5mg the following Thursday as I’d quite like to change my day to Thursday anyway

I can’t see why this would be an issue but would appreciate other thoughts?

I had a similar conundrum as I was going camping a music festival for a few days the day I was due to increase my dose. In the end i took the dose a day early - instead on Thursday night I took it wednesday morning. It's normally worn off by day 5 or 6 for me anyway. I didn't have any problems. This was with wegovy.

End of week 6 and I haven't lost anything this week! I lost 21lbs lost over the 1st 5 weeks and am would say my food intake and calories have remained pretty consistent, so not sure why I'm stuck?! Really hoping the scales start moving again soon!

@tinpeach thanks for the reply. I would be happy enough to take it a day early but that doesn’t solve my problem as the work issue is all week

so the question is more about splitting my first week of 5mg and taking half Tuesday and half Thursday ie does anyone see a problem with injecting twice in three days?

I’m looking for advice.

i combined my last 2.5 dose with my 2.5 bonus dose to put me on 5mg a week early.

Not only have I had no extra side effects, I feel like the suppression is less not more!

I don’t understand. And now I’m worried my 5mg pen is going to be useless. Has anybody found a 5mg pen less effective than 2.5?

I’m pretty sure I saw on another thread that you should leave at least 4/5 days between injections. I’m currently splitting my dose because I really struggled moving up to 5 and was ill both times I tried so I do 3mg then 2.5mg 5 days later

Some people move on to 5mg with no extra symptoms at all, I was not one of those people! I suffered a lot on the jump up, so my advice would be to either do 2.5 or you could count clicks and go for something in between to help limit effects. 4mg is 48 clicks and 3.5mg is 42 clicks. I personally would just stick the weekly timetable but you could try a small jump up to say 3.5mg for the first week. Saying that some people have no issues with the first 5mg at all.

I didn't have any side effects at all moving from 2.5 to 5 except not loosing any weight for 2 weeks!

Went up to 5mg yesterday.
Today I feel like I've done 500 sit ups.

I have been to London on the train and got my steps in but haven't overdone it so can't be that surely?

I've not had any dinner as just not hungry...

I've struggled to lose weight since moving to 5mg. I assume it's just a plateau though as I don't see how 5mg can be less effective really?

Hello everyone, i wonder if you could help me? I've just gone to do my 3rd injection from a pen and i turned the clicks to 1 as usual but the plunger is stuck and I can't inject. Can anyone help or has this happened to them? My provider refuses to replace it and says I have to go back to the manufacturer. Thanks everyone

I really felt sick moving up to 5! I have lost 12lbs in just less than 4 weeks. I could not have done it alone.

Not had this happen (have only had one dose 😂) but have you tried with a different needle incase it is an issue with the needle being blocked rather than the pen (hope that makes sense)

This is a bit gross but does anyone elses mouth taste rank? Really paranoid about breathing near people lol Apparently its a thing with a semaglutide.

week 1 on wegovy I lost 9lbs
week 2 was 2lbs
week 3 I stayed the same
week 4 I put on a pound.

week 5 which is my first week on 0.5 wegovy and it’s not worked at all. I’ve felt sick and dizzy but my appetite is as bad as it was, the food noise is constant and my migraines have increased massively. I’m so disappointed.

I’ve been sleeping, drinking water and counting every bloody calorie. I’m on 1380 a day, which in the first 3 weeks I was struggling to eat. Now I just want to eat everything in sight again, like before wegovy.

@mellsybob gosh that very annoying. I don’t know much about consumer law but I’d have thought your contract is with the supplier not the manufacturer, so if a new needle doesn’t work I’d get back to them and complain.

@tinpeach my mouth has been really dry. Doing the lick test on the back of my hand revealed it’s pretty smelly too.

@Wegovygirl sorry about your stalling. Hopefully you’ll get a whoosh next week. Looking at the bigger picture though, you’ve lost 11lbs which is great. If you are really struggling, might a switch to Mounjaro be worth considering?

weigh day for me and I’ve lost 2lbs. Currently on 4mg Mounjaro as I didn’t want to make the big jump from 2.5 to 5.

starting weight 9 May 14st 4lbs
current weight 13 June 13st 3lbs

Mine did this, on two different pens.
Voy refunded me for the amount of doses I couldn't use.
They said they're getting a few people saying the same thing.
Go back to your supplier and let them know!

Start of Week 8 for me on Ozempic (essentially Wegovy, it’s just not available in Ireland yet) and 1.6lb loss.

SW: 205.4lbs
CW: 189.8lbs
GW: Not sure. Ideally I’d love 140 but I don’t have much control over how far Oz will take me. So just going week by week.

i titrated up slowly from my starter dose and took my first 0.5mg shot last week. I definitely felt an increase in side effects as a result. Not necessarily in severity but more the regularity of them. The effects are still mild - headache, fatigue and some gastro issues. I’ve gone back down to 0.4mg this week. Hopefully it’ll still keep the cravings at bay, and if it does I’ll stick on that dose until the side effects ease.

Yes to the dry mouth. It's been the only side effect I've really noticed but I've always had that with IF so I use wow drops when out and about.

Feeling a mixture of excitement and trepidation!

I mean 2.5mg!

I'm on my last week of 0.5ml of wegovy. I feel like it's not been as effective as 0.25 - my appetite seems to come back after 4 days. Not much weight loss. I know 0.5 is still a loading dose and shouldn't expect much but I lost 10 pounds on the 0.25.
Anyway, looking forward to the 1ml dose.

I'm on Mounjaro and today I've just taken the first dose of 7.5 mil. I've lost 20lb in total over eight weeks with 2.5 and 5 mil doses. I'm very pleased with the weight loss.
I've only got maybe 8lb to go and I'm beginning to think about what to do when I've reached my target. Although to be honest, I think I could very easily become addicted to the lfeeling of not eating very much but not being hungry. Don't worry, I shall guard against this!
Has anybody reached target and either stopped taking Mounjaro or tailed it off?
