I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

I didn't. I got mine from Boots and they indicated they would tell the GP but I haven't seen anything on my notes.

Help
I took my first dose last night. At 4am diarrhoea started, followed by shivers and sweats. Is this normal? How long does this last? I feel absolutely dreadful and slightly gutted.

That sounds like you have the tummy bug that is spreading like wildfire this past 2/3 weeks

PrimalLass · 19/05/2024 16:08

I think I do too. Very dodgy tummy today and lightheaded.

Cici1988 · 19/05/2024 16:47

little update from me, I got weighed by a pt at the gym before I did my first shot of mj and weighed 110kg, on Wednesday last week (two days before my 4th shot), I weighed in at 103kg. Although I don’t “feel” any lighter, I do actually notice a difference in my clothes.

I do have quite a long way still to go but my whole perception around food has changed so much in only a few weeks. My husband was really craving a Chinese takeaway last night so I agreed, normally I wouldn’t leave any of my portion but I ended up full after eating half a portion of fried rice and half a portion of chicken & black bean sauce and didn’t crave any more than that.

Thankfully I haven’t experienced any side effects since I last went out for dinner on holiday and think indulging in chorizo etc when having tapas made me vomit the next day. Bring on month two!

tinpeach · 19/05/2024 18:49

I'm midway through my 4th week and also ready to up the dose to 0.5 - feeling a bit snacky again and weight loss has stopped. I'm still happy with my 10 pounds loss so far.

GreyFinch · 19/05/2024 19:42

I hit my 1 stone loss yesterday! Many more to go but I’m over the moon. Starting 5mg on Wednesday so almost at week 5. I’m noticing clear skin for the first time in months, I’m assuming due to more water & healthier diet. The biggest success for me will be a slimmer face/no double chin anymore as it is my biggest insecurity. I’ve always hid my weight with my clothes but you can’t hide a double chin!!

At what point did people drop down a clothes size? Meaning, at how much weight loss?

MyCatsSlave · 19/05/2024 21:21

Hello, thought I’d come and join you all as I’ve just ordered Mounjaro 2.5mg. Hopefully it will get approved and I can start this week.
I’m a little anxious but I’ve been trying to lose weight all year and have managed to gain. I’m blaming perimenopause but it’s more my inability not to binge on anything carby.

My starting weight is 14st 3lbs and I’m 5ft 5. Hoping to get back to 10st 3 where I was 18 months ago.

I’m going to fast between 11 and 7 and eat high protein low carb as it’s worked well in the past for me, just can’t seem to get started this time which is why I’ve decided to add in the Mounjaro to help reduce appetite and cravings.

Thank you, I was looking at MedExpress actually. I have some health anxiety so tbh it’s really scaring me to order this without a doctor but I feel like I need to do this for myself. I’m at my wits end and can’t get this weight off no matter how hard I try.

If you haven't already found a company you might want to look at CheqUp. Their Medical Lead is a bariatric specialist at UCH.

I know my information was checked as they contacted me by email to confirm something before the prescriber would approve it. They also include Health Coaching as part of their package so, if you want it, you can have Zoom appts for advice and support on strategies, what to eat, etc.
I don't want to just rely on the appetite suppression as I think I would just regain if I did that so am using this as an opportunity to reset my eating and activity with this to make it easier

I was on Mounjaro for one month at 2.5 with some indigestion and nausea and a bit of a change in appetite. Weight loss was minimal. I went up to 5.0 just over a week ago and everything has changed. 24 hours after the shot I felt really sick and extremely tired. The next day I was sweating, vomiting and in bed. Things still aren't much better. Now I also have stomach cramps and small volume watery diarrhea. I feel generally really unwell and wiped out. I am prone to irregular heartbeats and now have this constantly. I'm drinking water but have eaten nothing but a few grissini and a couple of Yogurts in a week. I've been to my doctor who prescribed anti nausea drugs. He said the half live of Mounjaro was around 5 days and predicted it would pass shortly yet I feel no better. I've now missed my next dose, I dare not take it. Does this all sound familiar to anyone, is this the end of my mounjaro journey or do I have something else wrong. I will of course be going back to the doctor.

I've been lurking in the shadows reading all the posts here, as I started my first injection around the same time as this thread! Reading this though I felt like I should finally comment as my experience has been so similar. I moved up to 5mg two weeks ago. I lost 8 pounds on 2.5 and had a few symptoms, chills, burps etc but nothing major. Took 5mg two weeks ago and I was floored, it was as if I had the flu, slept for about 18 hours, and was really nauseous.

I figured this was just the reaction to jumping up and the next week would be okay, but this week was maybe even worst, absolutely exhausted, the injection site was red and hard, I've had horrendous stomach cramps and diarreah and also felt like this is the end of my journey. I took the shot on Wednesday and am only now feeling human again.

However I have lost over a stone in 6 weeks (seems mostly through being super sick though!) so I'm considering trying again next week but counting the clicks and just taking maybe 3mg? Seems like such a waste of money to give up, but at the same time It's been two weeks of feeling really rough!

MyCatsSlave · 20/05/2024 09:55

@QueenOfHiraeth I think I will go with those for my 5mg. I was quite surprised to get approved with no further information and no photos to prove I qualified with Pharmacy2U

lastapache · 20/05/2024 10:42

I'm titrating upwards very slowly on Ozempic. I took three weeks of 0.25 and then took 0.3 last week. I'm going to go up in 0.05 or 0.1 jumps from now on. In my head it looks like this:

0.25 x 3
0.3 x 1
0.35 x 1
0.4 x 1

That'll leave 0.2 in my 0.25 pen (there's actually 2mg in total in the 0.25 Ozempic pens). From then on I will do:

0.4 x 1 (made up of 0.2 from the last pen, and 0.2 from the new 0.5 pen)
0.4 x 2
0.5 x 2

I will 100% go slower if any of the increases makes me feel more ill. I may also stick for longer on 0.35 or 0.4 if I feel it is working well and I am continuing to lose a pound or two a week. I don't want Ozempic face or a saggy behind from losing too quickly, so I'm just happy to chug along.

Ghilliedu · 20/05/2024 12:32

@BlueBumblingBee I had the same with my first dose of 5mg, even though I didn’t even take the full 5! Worst vomiting of my life. I was terrified to take my next jab yesterday so I counted the clicks and did 3mg. I’m absolutely exhausted today but so far no other issues. I’m just going to move up veeeery slowly, even if it means my weight loss is slower. I’d rather it work slowly than have to come off it completely

MKLP22 · 20/05/2024 13:02

Sounds like the jump from 2.5 to 5 is pretty grim, only been on 2.5 for 2 weeks and all is fine and Im losing, can I stay on this or do I have to move up ?

Ghilliedu · 20/05/2024 13:52

@MKLP22 you can stay on it if it’s still working for you. By about week 3 on 2.5 it just wasn’t working for me anymore. Some people have managed the jump to 5 without any issues at all, I think it just completely depends on the person. I’m feeling ok on 3mg (so far) so I’ll just keep moving up slowly and hope by the time I get up to 5 my body will be used to it!

tunnellights76 · 20/05/2024 14:27

Hi @QueenOfHiraeth

With Chequp, does the cost go up per 2.5mg, or does it stay the same? Seems super reasonable and lowest cost around. Thanks :)

tunnellights76 · 20/05/2024 14:39

Hello all!

Started MJ last Thursday 16th. Have lost a little I think, the reduction in food noise is great and I am eating far less. Am pushing myself to move more, focussing on proteins and veg. Trying (currently failing) to get rid of wine totally...

Height 166cm
SW 84kg
GW 62kg

I know there's people here with further to go, and I send solidarity. I'm trying to nip my weight gain in the bud after a tough 5 years, peri-menopause, solo parenting, caring for mum through terminal cancer, and a world of health & work issues. Oh yeah n covid. this is nearly the highest I've been, managed to lose almost a stone and then put over half back on in about 6 weeks... so am hoping this takes pressure off and helps me lose and change eating habits, while I can concentrate on building better exercise and lifestyle habits.

Main concern is what happens when reach BMI, does it just stop? or maintenance dose?

Glad to be sharing the journey with ya all!

TooShort · 20/05/2024 15:08

Hi everyone,

It has been 2.5 days since my first wegovy injection. Feeling fine but no appetite..just looking at food makes me nauseas. I had awful vomiting (HG) with my pregnancy so I absolutely hate the feeling…also I miss enjoying my food. I do not have a lot of weight to lose (7 kilos) but these 7 kilos makes a massive difference to my health issues. I go to gym a lot and eat healthy (watch calories) but cannot lose the weight due to a mix of PCOS, binging habit and food noise. I do like to hit a certain amount of protein intake daily which is not happening right now…I am most likely not going to continue after the first month but do not want to waste the product so will take the next couple of injections (if I do not feel worse). I think this drug is really good for those who need to lose a lot of amount of weight as initially it’s a lot about reducing calories and increasing exercise but generally if you want to do body recomposition/lose fat not muscle - I doubt this drug would be useful as you really do need an appetite to hit over 100gram of protein daily.

blanketsfromtoast · 20/05/2024 16:54

Hi all - in the middle of ordering my first round of MJ from Asda so hoping to begin at the start of next week. Checking in here to keep track of it all. I put on such a lot of weight around 5 years ago from emotional eating, lack of exercise, etc. In the past year I've really shifted my habits, am now eating well and healthily, don't drink alcohol any more, and have a solid exercise routine of weightlifting, yoga, martial arts, swimming. But the weight is still there.

So, I want this to bootstrap losing a chunk of weight whilst maintaining my good habits. I'm slightly nervous about making sure I keep my energy and protein levels up throughout this for the weightlifting, so will prob be doing small high protein breakfast (eggs or greek yoghurt); Huel for lunch; lean meat/tofu + veg + grains for dinner. I also want to keep up the exercise and eating enough healthy fat to ease the strain of any weight loss on my face and body.

Height: 5'3
CW: 14 stone 3 lbs
GW: Don't really have a specific goal weight as hopefully I'll be building muscle too, but want to drop around 2 dress sizes which I think will be about 2.5 stone.

Yes, it goes up but I'm not sure of other companies' costs to compare. If you type in Chequp Mounjaro costs I think it's on there
Like I said upthread I picked them because I wanted to be sure of the professional standards but I'm not, honestly, sure how much the companies vary

TBf this drug is only marketed at those with a lot to lose, how did you even get it prescribed without an obese bmi?

tinpeach · 20/05/2024 19:03

guys pray for me.
The day that I move up to 0.5 wegovy is the day I go to a 3 day festival. Is this a really stupid idea. Can you give me any recommendations of supplies i should take with me...

thanks

TooShort · 20/05/2024 19:24

@ImPunbelievable

I am very short so my current weight takes me to the edge of obese (29BMI). Once I lose the 7 kilos I will go into ‘Overweight’ BMI which is around the mark where I can maintain without compromising my health (I know from past experience). If I want to be in the ’Healthy’ category than I need to lose close to 12 kilos (but not my goal). In addition to the usual routine assessment, I also took a blood test (relevant to how my weight affects me) so not worried whether I am eligible or not. Honestly, 7 kilos may sound minuscule compared to someone who needs to lose much more but for someone with health conditions and petite can wreak havoc on their body. While outwardly my body does not appear to be obese, inwardly my body is suffering from it.

I think at some point in the future this drug will be targeting even simply overweight people as opposed to just obese.

daliesque · 20/05/2024 20:08

Can I join please? I started mounjaro on Saturday through voy. It was strange injecting myself and I'm pretty sure I wasted some of the dose...all the more embarrassing because I'm a doctor so used to putting needles in people.

Felt dead tired Saturday afternoon and had a bad headache, but generally no side effects (yet) possibly due to my incompetence at injecting it. Work is also stressful and exhausting so that could be the cause of my tiredness.

I've found that I haven't really been interested in food since. However have resisted the tunnocks wafers that my partner bought (evil bastard) and went for grapes and strawberries for snacks. Not sure if it is the drug or me just being in diet mode so to speak. I'm certainly eating less, but still waiting for the effect on my wine consumption which so far remains as normal 🤣.

I have the same problem. I go up to 0.5 on the day I go on holiday so long drive to the airport, flight then drive from there.
I'm debating doing 3.75mg the week before (instead of my last dose of 2.5) to see how that goes and repeating that if I'm ok (instead of my first 5) then going up to 5mg on return
