Mounjaro and wegovy newbies April 2024

Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

I found this happened to me but when I ate I only wanted a small amount of food

ive now started 5mg (from this morning) and just feel a little nauseous and I am not hungry

I read an article today that said Mounjaro is a long term treatment, and that most people put 2/3 of the weight back on after stopping. Has anyone thought of this as a long term thing? I can’t afford to spend £150 a month, like, forever.

Yes it’s true most people put weight back on. But that is true for all diets. If you stop eating the new way and go back to old habits then you’ll put weight on again. That’s why a lot of us emphasise that you can’t just use these drugs to suppress your appetite and still eat whatever you want. If you use it to change what you eat, and add in exercise, then you have a better chance of being able to stick to those changes.

Personally, if staying at a low dose forever is possible and what I have to do, I’ll do it. But I’m aware that hugely depends on being able to afford it.

I think it will eventually get cheaper. And more treatments will pop up and make the market more competitive. They will also more than likely develop a maintenance dose that might be a small amount weekly, or fortnightly. There’s too much money to be made for them to just cut people off

I took my 1st 5mg dose on Thursday and this is exactly how I felt. I had started to fancy things again and feel hungry. Today and yesterday I feel like I did when I first started it. X

Wondering if anyone can help me? I’ve been researching MJ for weeks now and really want to give it a go. I feel abit overwhelmed working out where I should order from? I quite like the thought of a medical professional being involved and not just letting me order it. I was on one site and I filled out the questionnaire and they were going to let me buy it without actually looking into the details I provided, is that normal? Any other tips I would really appreciate as I’m at the beginning but feel like this is my last hope.

Hi @Hungerbegone I ordered my first dose from Bolt as they were the cheapest pharmacy at the time (£125) and they wanted photos to prove you should be on it. The service was great and my MJ came super fast. I have since moved to MedExpress (also great service and fast delivery) as they seem to always offer at least 15% off. But again they ask for pics so it feels like they take it seriously too. Bolt didn't contact my GP and MedExpress haven't as yet, but others have said they have. I've found it easy to move pharmacies you just need to keep your box to prove your dose if you want to do that at any point. Hope that helps.

Thank you, I was looking at MedExpress actually. I have some health anxiety so tbh it’s really scaring me to order this without a doctor but I feel like I need to do this for myself. I’m at my wits end and can’t get this weight off no matter how hard I try.

You can’t order it without a doctor. You may or may not talk to one, but it is a doctor who will review the information you supply and decide to prescribe or not.

I got MJ through Bolt. I previously got Wegovy through Asda and found their online service responsive when I had a question about taking a another medication alongside it.

Same @Justkeeprollingalong - coming towards the end of the week after my 4th jab and starting to think about food a lot more again. Was planning to stay on 2.5mg but thinking I may need to up to 5mg!

They might take your none @Hungerbegone but the order isn't confirmed until properly medically checked, you'd get refunded if not suitable. Hope that helps

Weight fluctuations are an arse, aren’t they?! I finally FINALLY dipped below 14st earlier this week and I was so insanely happy and now it’s my injection day and I’ve gone back to 14st again. Can you put 2lbs back on in 3 days?! I’m about a week out from my period so going to chalk it up to water retention and celebrating my husband’s birthday this weekend - hopefully it’ll go again soon 🤞🏻

So yeah, 3rd jab of 0.5 Wegovy gone in this morning. Am defo finding now that I’m getting full quicker - on the 0.25 I could pretty much still eat my normal portion size whereas now I’d defo struggle. Feel like weight loss is slowing down though so going to get off my lazy bum and workout a bit this week.

@Hungerbegone as others have said, a doctor will certainly be involved. I was originally declined from MedExpress because my photos didnt make me look like my bmi was over 30 so they definitely don’t just dish it out to anyone. They also check in with you and respond to any questions. I’ve used MedExpress and Asda and found both to be helpful.

it can definitely be a bit scary ordering something like this from the internet but there is definitely support and also the threads of here are a wealth of information about side effects etc

I took my 3rd dose of 2.5mg MJ last night and today I’m starvinggggg!
To the point I’m wondering if DH injected it right 👀
Not sure if maybe the lower dose is just starting to have less of an effect but it feels devastating to feel so hungry when I’ve spent 2 weeks not having to think about food much 😭

I took my first dose last night. At 4am diarrhoea started, followed by shivers and sweats. Is this normal? How long does this last? I feel absolutely dreadful and slightly gutted.

No that's not normal. Sounds more like you've got a fever and an infection.

I'm due my 3rd dose tomorrow and I've noticed it's not lasting as long as the first dose. It's still kinda working but I have to work harder alongside it if you get me. I think my willpower is being tested 😂 I'm thinking about moving to the 5mg next time but I'm scared of side effects because apart from a headache and feeling cold I've got away lightly compared to what I've read from others.

I was going to split my next pen to stay in 2.5mg but definitely gonna go up to the 5mg now I think!
Ive just had a bit of fatigue really so also got off lightly with side effects but think I’d take having the sh*ts to get the hunger suppression back 😆

No that definitely wasn’t my experience either, who did you order through? Maybe contact them as it may be listed under side effects but could also just be a bug as pp said. Hope you feel better soon 💕

Has anyone had a bit of leakage from the injection site after you’ve held the needle in? Worried I haven’t had the full dose

Hello, I have been taking MH for just over 4 weeks. I started 5mg on Thursday and I have lost 1 stone in 4 weeks which I am over the moon with!! My question is, how much did people lose in the 4 weeks they were on the 5mg dose? Just wondered what kind of weight loss I could expect? Thank you 😊

Wasn’t going to weight myself until the 1 week mark (Wed) but felt lighter today so thought I’d hop on the scale. 4.5 lbs down! Know it can fluctuate so won’t put it on my chart until I weigh myself Wednesday, but encouraged that it seems to be working!
