Mounjaro and wegovy newbies April 2024

Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

Final weigh in of my 2.5mg pen and 1kg gone- it’s definitely slowed down but not surprising as I’ve felt my appetite creep back the last week.

SW 107.8kg
CW 102kg
GW 90kg

So that’s 5.2kg or about 10lbs gone in 4 weeks, which is good!

I haven’t ordered my next pen yet as haven’t decided if I want to do 2.5 again or jump up to 5- what are the best places with discount codes atm? I already used Voy for my first one.

In the meantime going to use my bonus dose from my first pen this week and see how that goes…

Took my first dose of wygovy yesterday. No side effects yet, got a protein shake and some berries for breakfast. Keen to see where the journey takes me. I've got 3st to lose

Really need a handhold…I am so sick! I woke up around 3am with the shakes, vomiting, breathless and heart beating faster. I had a panic attack in the midst of it and woke up everyone…Could not do the school run so all 3 kids are home. Husband has gone off to work but trying to get back to me asap. Is this wegovy? I am on my 4th day - delayed symptoms?

I might go to A/E once hubby is home. I cannot even keep water down - vomiting back within 5 minutes of sipping. There is lots of bubbling noise inside my tummy…

Just to say myprotein have a sample pack of the clear whey so you can taste 10 of the flavours. It helped me narrow down which ones I liked and I've now ordered 3 of the larger tubs. I've gone for orange and mango, tropical dragonfruit as I know these two are my favourite and then also ordered vimto although this wasn't in the sample pack so hope I like it.

It's a great way to get in 20g of protein

Possible it’s side effects, but it sounds more like food poisoning or a bug to be honest. Hope it doesn’t last too long for you!

Sorry to hear that @TooShort - I think a sickness bug is more likely, and maybe exacerbated by anxiety with taking a new medication. Hopefully the docs put your mind at ease.

Have just ordered my 5mg pen from MedExpress, took the plunge with a discount code. Hoping my extra dose from the 2.5mg will tide me over until then- feel silly for dithering and not just having the new pen ready to go. Hope they don't take too long to approve!

For anyone looking to switch providers to MedExpress- I applied at 1.30pm today and they approved and dispatched it by 4pm. Just had to give proof of my previous 2.5mg order.

I took my first 2.5 dose on Sunday night. Have had insane muscle pains like I’m bruised all over. It’s eased a bit today. I have also been amazed at how I am instantly feeling like I could just not eat!

however, I stupidly stood on the scales and have put 3 pounds on!! Has anyone else experienced that?

I'm doing wygovy but can see MJ is more popular on here. Can you switch? What went into the decision to use MJ? I've only done one dose.

Still not bought mj yet but wondered if anyone was on HRT and using it? Thanks

I've been taking Wegovy for a few months, and the symptoms have been horrendous, since increasing to 1mg (always 2 days after injection ). First week on 1 mg was horrible burps, nausea and diarrhoea. Second week vomiting joined the party and as an emetophobe, that set my anxiety well and truly spiralling. Fast forward to this week and I am going away at the weekend so decided to have a week off (and then lower the dose)

This evening I have been hit by another bout of diarrhoea (no nausea, thankfully) but I don't get it, my last injection was 8 days ago. I really don't need this at the weekend as I am staying on a boat with limited bathroom facilities !

For me it was purely because MJ seemed to have a slightly higher percentage of weight loss during tests and also less side effects. I think people have switched before but you need to leave a certain amount of time to let one get out of your system first or it can make you quite ill

Thanks for this info. Did you go onto 5 or stay at 2.5? Looking to do similar in a couple of weeks

Has anyone taken their dose a day early? I'm due to take my first 0.5 dose tomorrow but i wouldn't mind taking it today to see what the side effects are like before i go to a festival on friday xx

Went to 5mg @tunnellights76 - if you stayed at 2.5mg wouldnt have to prove your previous order even.

5mg arrived just now so I am injected!

It's only day 3 since first 0.25g of wygovy and already noticing appetite reduced but think this is maybe a placebo as surely can't be having an impact so quickly!

Felt knackered (what's new) but no other symptoms so far

I've just finished week 4 and have lost 16lbs in total, which I'm really pleased with! Will take my first 5mg tonight - I wasn't sure about going up but I'm glad I have as I've been hungry today (for the first time in 4 weeks) so think my body maybe ready to move up.

What was your starting weight if you don't mind me asking?

A little check in from me
I've just taken week 8 wegovy 0.5mg
Side effects have been okay so far - a bit of nausea and constipation but not too bad

SW: 76.9kg
CW: 69.8kg

So I am -6.1kg
I'm short (5'0)

I've found that the reduced appetite effect of the 0.5 dose has actually increased by this dose weirdly but I'm going to trial 1.0 next time - will see how I get on with side effects then either continue to increase or tweak slightly

Hoping everyone else is doing okay!
I'd love some ideas for small but nutritious meal / snack ideas!
