Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

@ShrinkingDaffodil Lloyd's Pharmacy is the same price for 2.5 and 5 Mounjaro. £169.
I've moved to Medexpress as that is £131 for 5mg with CONSULT-BLOOM (don't put spaces in or it won't work).

I'm intrigued about how everyone is eating.
Has anyone else been given guidance on what to eat? I had a call from a nutritionist working with my supplier, explaining the importance of building good eating habits and eating the right diet rather than just relying on the appetite suppression in order to lose well and keep it off for longer

GreyFinch · 15/05/2024 06:30

I’m eating loads better than I was! I’m focusing on being under a set amount of calories each day and ensuring I eat a good amount of protein. Some days I’m having to force myself to eat but I’m making sure I do so that I’m in the habit when it comes to stop taking it

Yeah, I do think this is the key to maintaining the loss once you come off the jabs. I’m kind of seeing them as a helping hand to get me into good habits. Like the PP said, I’m eating way better and maintaining a realistic calorie deficit (1500 cals a day) while still allowing myself the odd treat (ice cream pot, small glass of wine at weekends etc). I’d probs be losing weight faster if I just didn’t eat but I don’t think I’d be in a good headspace.

I used Saxenda last year and lost a stone but was basically relying on the appetite suppression - piled it all back on once I was off the meds. Really hoping this time will be different!

sweetpickle2 · 15/05/2024 06:55

I had my first ‘binge’ since being on MJ last night- don’t even know why I wasn’t hungry! There was half a share bag of crisps in the cupboard from having some friends over at the weekend and I saw it and just ate them. Didn’t event want them.

Felt so nauseous after though, and still do this morning (that was at about 5pm yesterday!) Lesson learned- so not worth it

Justkeeprollingalong · 15/05/2024 08:52

Good morning. I've just injected my 4th Mounjaro 2.5 dose. I have the 5mg pen in the fridge ready for next week.
I've lost 10lbs in the 3 weeks.
I can see I have enough for another dose left in the pen but I've been so lucky with no side effects that I just want to play it by the book and not take any risks!
I'm very pleased with the 10lb - I actually feel lighter!

I've been doing IF as well which has been easier due to the appetite suppression. We eat healthy anyway, portion control has been my issue, I'm now eating less than half for my evening meal without needing more.
Also my alcohol consumption is really down.
This is all helped enormously by the appetite control, hopefully by the time I stop the drug I will be used to my new regime 🤞
Hope everyone is feeling well and happy.

Oh god the diarrhoea has commenced. This is what put me off ozempic when I tried it last year. It’s so bad. Anyone else like this on it?

CoolRanch · 15/05/2024 13:30

Oh no reading about the tummy upsets is worrying me 🙈. I just got a DPD message saying my first dose is going to be delivered this afternoon. When I saw that I was going to start tonight right before bed but now I’m not sure.

InspectorGidget · 15/05/2024 13:37

I'm 2 shots down and have been fine in that department. No noticeable side effects apart from a dry mouth.

Surprised to see I was 4lb down this morning after losing zero the first week.

That good to hear, about not having that side effect and the weight loss! I might just take the chance and go for it tonight.

Wegovygirl · 15/05/2024 13:54

Hi all,
Been reading for months all about wegovy and last week took the plunge. I bought from Boots for 179.99.

Age: 44
Height: 5’6
SW: 110kg / 242lbs
CW: 106.4kg / 234.6lbs
GW: 77kg / 170lbs

Been overweight all my adult life, my family are all overweight as were my parents.

My relationship with food is emotional / boredom / comfort.

My first week has been fine. Had a bit of nausea, had 3 days where I struggled to hit my 1380 cals a day, a couple of days where my appetite wasn’t much suppressed.

I am tracking everything on MFP, which is really the key I think.

Excited for my journey.

SpecialToMe · 15/05/2024 15:07

Oh god. What a mistake I’ve made! Been suffering a bit with constipation over the last week. Tried a few things that didn’t work. Bought some lactulose when I picked up my new pen and took some last night. Only I read the instructions wrong and took 40ml when really I should have had 15ml!!! 🫣 been paying for it today. Safe to say I don’t have a constipation problem anymore…. 😂

Upinthenightagain · 15/05/2024 15:51

@SpecialToMe lactulose is awful stuff, that weird sickly toffee taste 🤢

Stuckinarut79 · 15/05/2024 18:20

Asking here as seems a busy thread, anyone found a place to buy that doesn’t need passport/driving license. I have neither and currently waiting my money back from Med Express, I didn’t see that requirement before I paid :( I noticed it on another sight so was looking. Is this standard?

I'm three weeks in and haven't had any stomach issues. A little nausea at night if I have tea quite late.

Asda don’t ask for either

FIFIBEBE · 15/05/2024 19:49

I'm coming to the end of my successful 2.5ml dose and expecting my second Voy delivery imminently. Will my dose be increased automatically or do I need to trigger that? Thanks so much.

I’ve just taken my last 2.5 (plus the bonus dose) today and I sent Voy a message and they’ve advised my next one will be 5mg automatically, I haven’t heard when it’s dispatched/due by yet though but hope it’s by Wednesday next week when I’m due my next dose

Mayfair Weight Loss didn’t ask for one. They did some kind of identity check with your info though, so maybe passing that is enough? I don’t know if they’d ask for ID if that didn’t work.

Wegovygirl · 16/05/2024 06:18

Week 1 weigh in today:

SW: 110kg / 242lbs
CW: 105.7kg / 233lbs
GW: 77kg / 170lbs

9lb lost!! I think that just shows how much rubbish I was eating before though and I don’t expect this to continue, but I’m over the moon. 2nd injection day today which I’ll do this evening.

Oh no! Hope you’re ok now. Have you got any electrolytes in? Worth having some today to address any dehydration!

Having taken shot 5 (still 2.5) this week, I am stuck to the toilet this morning. Luckily DH around to take over the school run - though I think I could have managed it without incident, would just have been rather uncomfortable. Also have sulphur burps and feel exhausted, side effects have crashed in together today.

I do feel like the appetite suppression has crept in this week today though, I’m not surprised it hasn’t before as Wegovy was the same for me. So I can cope with some side effects if the medication is actually working!

ShrinkingDaffodil · 14/05/2024 18:00

@GoingDownDown How does counting the clicks work? I’m thinking of using my 5mg pen to do more 2.5mg shots, just wary of how to do it and if it will be ok not being used within the 30 days

There’s a chart somewhere where people have counted how many clicks make a full dose, from which you can count how many give half, three quarters, etc.

Personally, I wouldn’t go well over the 30 days though. 4 doses is 28 days, I’m willing to go to 5 doses. Is the 30 day limit is an estimate, soundly tested, or the manufacturers trying to prevent people stretching their money? No idea, personally I’m not willing to risk it too much.

lastapache · 16/05/2024 09:09

Fourth dose of Ozempic today. As I had split my first dose over two nights I needed to get more pen tips, which arrived from Amazon a couple of days ago. Of course, because I'm a big wuss, I was nervous about the new needle and got a bit flustered, and then didn't remember to keep the pen in for six seconds. I definitely saw a drop or two come out when I took the pen out. 😧

I had decided to go up to 0.3 this week, so I injected the extra 0.05ml but that probably only got me up to the normal dose. Anyhoo.

I lost 1.8lbs this week, so down from 205.4 to 196 in three weeks. I am happy with that.

As for side effects, I definitely find I am very tired on Thursday and Friday, almost like I'm fighting off an infection. It rights itself later in the week. I also found, when I overate on Monday, that I felt sick. I didn't throw up, but was close to it for a few minutes. Lastly, my ToM came early this week, on Day 25. I am like clockwork - Day 28 every month with the occasional variation of 24 hours either side. Never three days early. So again, I expect that's the Ozempic. I know GLP1 probably has no direct influence on my cycle but the body is a delicate organ and the increase in one hormone is likely to have some kind of influence on other hormones. Hmmm. I bet my bottom dollar they didn't look at this as part of the trials.
I haven't had much problems with diarrhoea or constipation so far. Just one day of diarrhea which followed a McDonalds chicken wrap and one day of constipation right at the start, which was fixed by taking psyllium husks for a couple of days.

Hello all, is it ok if I join in. My first Wegovy pack is arriving today.

I want to shift about 3 stone but will be delighted to get 2 off and stick with that.

Stats
SW 13.10
GW 12.0 (initially)

I'm 5ft6 so BMI is 30.9. I've been heavier than this (around 14.7) but managed to shift a bit with noom but would love the helping hand of wegovy to just git rid of this weight once and for all (hopefully). We're going on hols in 2 months so hoping to shift at least a stone by then.

Hope you're all well, it's very encouraging seeing your progress so far.

Feelingslightlyuneasy · 16/05/2024 12:47

Hi I wondered if anyone had a similar experience to me and how you managed it, if so.
I am on the 7th week now so have just taken my 3rd 5mg injection on Tuesday evening. I am beyond exhausted and can not function, I have been asleep most of the morning and can’t stay awake past 8pm.
I had tiredness the first couple of weeks on 2.5 but nothing like this. Has anyone else had this side effect of total exhaustion?
