Mounjaro and wegovy newbies April 2024

Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

Another question if ok..does mounjaro only suppress appetite or does it speed up metabolism too? Thanks!

I've had a really busy week and been away both weekends, so haven't been great at being on track, however, I've not gone mad with the junk food and have completely avoided alcohol so that's been a really nice thing to be able to enjoy myself without taking it to the excess. I haven't weighed this week, I am going to weigh tomorrow/Thursday now I'm back on track with things. I just started 5mg today so feeling a bit anxious about any side effects kicking in.

@Whereisthewine I feel like it has just done appetite suppression for me, first week I just ate less - but not better if that makes sense? Whereas I’ve changed what I’m eating now and noticing better results so I think it’s a case of it being an aid to you not craving bad food or big portions 🙌🏼

@Whereisthewine Ive lost 6ib so far, so really hoping it will be 7ib by the end of this week!

I am expecting it may drop off a little but then hopefully will pick up again when I increase to the 5ml dose 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@Whereisthewine It was 4ib in my first week & 2ib so far since last Friday.

My start weigh was 12st 4ib by the time I took the first jab if that helps for reference as obviously the higher the SW the quicker it does normally come off in the beginning

I've lost a stone exactly in a month using my first pen. I think if you ask most people if they'd pay £150 ish to lose a stone they'd take you up on it!

Expect it to slow now but hopefully become more noticeable.

Hi! Lurked on Mumsnet for many years but never posted. Been thinking about Wegovy or now Mounjaro for ages but finally took the plunge. Filled in an online consultation and it’s just been approved today. I’ve had 3 kids (oldest now teen) and have just slowly gained over the years since I had them. Went hardcore healthy/whole foods life change last summer and lost a stone but then just plateaued. Still just over 30 bmi (ie classed as obese) Still only eating healthy and stuck with lifestyle change, but no further loss. Hurt my hip around Jan and haven’t been able to exercise as much since also. Slowly getting back to the exercise but I’d really just like to get back down to a healthier weight and hoping this can help me do that! (I really don’t want to go into menopause in a few years already this overweight.) Glad to find others who are trying this too to have someone to discuss with!!!

Mounjaro, not sure how long it will take to come.

Mine came within a day of being approved, first week in for me, good luck, Im sure we will both be dancing on the tables by September 😀

Totally no problems at all, lost my appetite but not bothering me at all and could just be my mindset atm, evenings are my killer time and so far so good !

'Final' jab from this pen for me this morning (although a little bonus bit left so going to buy a sharp for it!)

Only lost 0.7kg this week, so weight loss has definitely slowed down. But that's 4.8kg in three weeks, just over 10lbs. Which is still pretty good!

I feel myself getting hungry more than I did in the first two weeks, and the food noise is creeping back. I was planning on staying on 2.5mg for the next month but I may need to go up to 5mg!

I was planning to go up to 5mg next month but I think with cost I may just stay on 2.5 but from the 5mg one so I should effectively get 10 doses?

But it does say to only use for 30 days once open so wondering if anyone has done this to try and get as much as possible for their money 😆

I have tried to google, but it just says everywhere use within 30 days of opening 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I can’t see that it’s dangerous, just that it starts to lose effectiveness, but most of what I can find is around keeping it at room temperature but I’ve kept mine in the fridge 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m due to take my first 5mg of MJ tonight (was actually due yesterday but I had a bad migraine and couldn’t face it). Today I actually feel like it’s kicked in though! Haven’t been hungry. Have felt a bit nauseous and bloated. Made my normal lunch for work, it’s taken me all day to eat my salad, I haven’t opened my crisps and I’ve had one bite of my crunchie and not wanted any more… So I’m thinking I might stick with another 2.5 dose, or even count clicks to make it halfway.

I was on Wegovy, which worked for me briefly before the side effects got too strong. So am wary of going up a dose unless I definitely need it!

I think I've missed delivery of my next pen today, the first one came in a foil bubble wrap envelope with an ice pack.

Royal mail are going to attempt to deliver again tomorrow, do you think it will be ok out of the fridge for so long?

@GoingDownDown How does counting the clicks work? I’m thinking of using my 5mg pen to do more 2.5mg shots, just wary of how to do it and if it will be ok not being used within the 30 days
