Mounjaro and wegovy newbies April 2024

Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

Don’t worry! I have just completed my 6th injection and I lost minimal amounts in the first 3 weeks.
ive overall lost around 8 pounds in 5.5 weeks but it is slow going, it must affect some people a lot more than others as I see some lost a stone in the first 4 weeks etc.

I'm about to have my 4th dose from my first 2.5 Mounjaro pen which I got from Lloyds. I've had an email from them asking if I would like to order my next pen. I want to go up to the 5mg dose and they are charging £169. Has anyone found it any cheaper elsewhere? Thanks.

I’m sticking with them for my 5mg pen then probably move to med express as I think I see a lot of people mentioning discount codes. I’ll probably shop about each time to try and get it reduced as possible as it is quite an expense!! I’ve took a photo of my box etc as apparently when you switch you need to prove you had 2.5 from elsewhere. I’m about half a week behind you as I’m due my 4th dose on Wednesday! Good luck for 5mg xo

What time of day is best to inject? I’ve got mine ready in the fridge

@Upinthenightagain I’ve injected first thing in the morning and then around dinner time/early afternoon another time and I didn’t see any difference at all to be honest! I’ve never had any side effects so far so it’s not made too much difference to the time I inject. I have read on other threads some people do it before bed so they’ll sleep through any potential side effects x

I’ve also injected at all times of the day and not noticed any difference. I’m moving to my 5mg pen tonight but going to count the clicks to get a 3.75mg dose to ease myself up to 5mg a bit slower

6 weeks in. 2nd jab of 0.5mg Wegovy this morning. Weighed yesterday and finally down to 14st! Hoping against hope to be in the 13s by next weekend 🤞🏻

This warm weather has defo had me overindulge this weekend though, I’m a sucker for an antipasti board and a cold rose when it’s like this. Knuckling down this week, need to get back on track.

10lbs in 6 weeks feels like slow going but I’m still allowing myself treats. Hoping that making this more of a maintainable lifestyle change will help me to keep the weight off when I run out of dollar for the jabs. 😬

I shall start on 5mg this week

I had lost 6kg that was partly down to stomach bug I had and I have put a little back on but not worried as I also had my jab three days later I waited until I felt completely better

I’m a bit worried I shall get bad acid reflex again like I did when I first started and am taking esomeprazole

Im on Wegovy.

I’m nearly 4 weeks in and have lost 7lbs. It feels like a big step because despite trying so hard to lose weight for the last two years I have actually put on weight very gradually and gained 2 stone over the course of 2 years.

So on average losing 1.5-2lbs per week, but finding some weeks I stay the same and then lose lots in another week.

I've just done my second dose.... but it actually looks like I still have three left so thinking I maybe didn't do the first one properly.

Let's see what this week brings!! 😀

@InspectorGidget the pens have a 5th bonus dose which you can use by either twisting the pen really hard or by extracting it using an insulin needle. I used mine as a 5th dose to make my pen last longer but some others also use it as a top up to get a slightly higher dose towards the end of the pen

@Ghilliedu thank you. I've seen the bonus dose mentioned so yes maybe it could be that!! I was just so keen last week I didn't pay attention properly and apart from a dry mouth I can't claim to have noticed anything!!

This dose has definitely worked so hoping this week I'll at least notice!

Hope it's ok for me to join. Had my first dose of mounjano yesterday. It's been in the fridge for two weeks with me scaring myself reading all about the side effects! Just weighed myself and I've lost 9lbs since the 19th April 🎉

I took my 4th shot on Friday there. So Friday this week I'm going to try the bonus '5th dose'. Hopefully it works but if not I have my 5mg pen waiting on the fridge

Might be a silly question but does the online dr set the dose or do you choose yourself?

@peebles32 you have to start on the lowest dose and then work your way up

Is anyone else getting health coach appointments as part of their package?
I had it as an option and decided to try it as I suspect it would be easy for me to lose weight then regain (as I have done that many times before) so want to use this a tool alongside building better habits. I have now been given advice on what to eat and when to optimise the chances of long term weight loss and maintenance which I haven't heard anyone else mention

@peebles32 you have to start on the lower dose but you can choose if you're ready to move up or if you want to stay at the lower dose for a bit longer

Just started Mounjaro on Sunday, nothing dramatic happening yet but looks like it will take at least a couple of weeks to notice anything at all, got a way to go so anyone have a rough idea what sort of loss I can expect in say 16 weeks?

Once a week. I take mine in the evening but you can take whenever it suits you 😊

Ugh I started yesterday. Def felt the appetite suppression by the afternoon. Over the course of the day I ate a tub of cottage cheese and about 6 crisp breads so about 700 cals because that was all I felt like. Got on the scale this morning and I’ve gained a pound 😂
